For Savina

It was a shame that Alexey was too preoccupied to notice what a beautiful day it was. Her lean silhouette basked under the orangy glow of amber skies, fur color harmonizing perfectly with the setting sun. The Circee's mind was elsewhere though, somewhere far away from such a beautiful scenery. Various new cuts and bruises adorned her body, and once again, she was condemned to a few more weeks of limping. All of her recent encounters with Inferni had left a lasting impression on the tawny femme; she had the scars to prove it.

Her limbs were aching all over, but she kept on walking. Lexey had no reason to be this far south, aside from deliberately wanting to avoid her packmates, especially Cercelee. She needed more time to come up with a suitable excuse; an explanation to justify her recent assault on a female coyote. The Rosea was pretty open-minded, she knew that much. But how understanding would she be if Alexey's foolishness sparked another war between Inferni and Dahlia de Mai?

Her nose eventually caught the smell of several wolves in the area, but her mind was simply too preoccupied to realize it. So Lexey did the exact opposite of what smart people normally did when visiting other packs, and she stepped right over that invisible line marking their territory.

Lithe limbs carried the wolfess swiftly across the packlands of Crimson Dreams. Across the packlands that now she helped lead. She had always felt a strong sense of duty in Twilight Vale, but now that was magnified tenfold. Now she was titled to real responsibilities. Such as keeping the borders marked and patrolled and the pack members safe. They were duties that she was more than willing to take on, and it filled her with great pride. The fact that Naniko had chosen her to help lead had finally sunken in.

The sable femme's nose and lungs were filled with the crisp autumn air. The giant orange orb of the sun was beginning to settle on the horizon. Soon it would be night and she would head back to the manor to sleep, but she wanted to make one more sweep of the territory before turning in. It appeared that it had been a good choice too, for the scent of wolf she didn't immediately recognize came to her. Ears pricked forward and tail held high, she took off in the direction of the other lupine.

As she came closer to the borders Savina picked up the scent of Dhalia de Mai intermingled in the other's smell. When she saw that they had already crossed the borders her hackles rose a bit. One should know better than to enter another pack's territory without permission. Her quick pace towards the uninvited wolf continued. Then her eyes picked up something her nose hadn't sensed. It was one of the members that she had met when she had escorted Cercelee back to her home. Posture relaxed slightly as she saw that the brown hued female was injured and clearly out of it.

"Alexey!" Accented voice called out, tinged with concern. The Lieutenant General was now right next to the visitor, inspecting her closer. "Alexey are you alright? Who did this to you?"

When her name reverberated throughout the area, Alexey found herself both startled and confused. Before she even had a chance to associate the concerned voice with it's owner, she found herself face to face with a green-eyed woman. It took her a few moments to fully snap out of her reverie, but when she did, her first reaction was to flatten her ears against her skull. "Savina," she murmured, almost out of breath. Lexey recognized the Italian woman, and she knew that running into her on this day could only mean trouble. Telling her the truth meant that Cercelee would eventually find out about her recent scuffle with a coyote, if she didn't already know. On the other hand, lying to her wasn't any better.

Her gaze neglected to show any emotion, but she could hear her heart pounding in her temples. Taking a step back, Alexey blurted out a vague answer, hoping the Rosea's friend would keep this information confidential. "It's my fault. I attacked her first." she paused for a few seconds, attempting to regain her composure. Alexey was smart enough to know that nobody in their right mind would settle for such a petty explanation, so she revealed a little more. "I attacked someone from Inferni. I had no other choice." That was the truth. What kind of monster wouldn't seek revenge on those who inflicted pain on their family?

The wolfess felt bad for startling the other, especially when her ears flattened against her head. The sub-leader's posture relaxed even more, hoping it would help Alexey relax as well. Her injuries didn't look too severe, but it would be best if she were able to be calm and rest. Emerald eyes focused intently on the Dhalian wolf as she brokenly attempted to explain her situation. Admittedly she was a bit troubled when Alexey stated that she had started the fight. She hadn't expected that from the seemingly mild-mannered person she had met up north. However, she doubted anyone expected the dark secret that Savina kept about her own issues with anger. So she had had no other choice? More of the story needed to be told. "Now, now, calm down. Why don't we sit?"

Slender obsidian form reclined down onto her haunches. "Tell me more about what happened. Why did you feel you had to attack this coyote?" Her voice was level and calm, there was no sense of scolding or anger. More than anything she wanted to understand. Surely there had to be a good reason behind Alexey's actions. Then it dawned on her that perhaps the injured female was worried that she might go and tell Cercelee what had happened. "If you're worried about me telling on you to Cercelee, you don't have to. I won't interfere, but it is probably something you should tell her at some point." The tan girl was probably still just rattled up from the fight and was afraid of the consequences she might face from her pack. Savina was sure that if the cause had been somewhat reasonable that the ivory leader would understand.
