Pack meeting. Haku should reply next and then everyone else. Yeeeeaaaah. Oct 31, dusk. Town Square.

The had been at it’s highest point in the sky when Cercelee had started the preparations. The day before she had found the Chinese lanterns and candles that lit them in an old boutique in Wolfville. At first they had puzzled her, what use did the humans have for such filmsy paper shapes? Yet further exploration of the store had solved the mystery because the back room was lined with the lanterns, equipped with candles and Cer knew well enough what candles were for. Now the white square lanterns lined the outside edge of the concrete slab were the pack meetings were held, and spherical lanterns of every color hung from trees in the park just outside the boundary the white lanterns made, as well as hanging from the gazebo off to the side. In the center of the meeting area, in the dead center of the circle of stone benches Cercelee had built up a bonfire, though not too large as to make those who gathered around on the benches uncomfortable with the excesses heat. Although the darkness of the night was quickly approaching, the town square was lit up in festive lighting and Cercelee knew that if any of the wolves wandered in Wolfville tonight they would know of her plans before she called to them.

Haku had been instructed to procure their feast, enough to feed the whole pack with some left over, and she knew that he would not disappoint her. While she waited for the male to arrive she transported the bottles of wine she had selected for tonight, for those who wished to indulge after the formalities of the meeting. Cercelee placed them under the benches in the gazebo, best to get official business done before she passed those out, Cer knew too well what too much drink could do to a wolf. Looking around, Cercelee smiled to herself, setting up everything on her own had been hard work and she did not have the energy to shift back into her four legged form, but that could not be helped. Turning her head she saw the figure of Haku, carrying with him a large bundle and she knew it was time. Throwing back her head she let out a long, mournful howl, calling forth the members of her pack. It was time.

I powerplayed Firefly ahahahaha! 300+

His eyes wandered across the scene. He could not help but actually admire the younger alphess. She had obviously put a lot of effort into all of this, and it really did show. He was impressed, and very much so. As her icy orbs found his warmer toned eyes, he let a smile shine through and nodded at her. ”Wow. That’s all I can say, Cer. The male turned slightly away from her and laid down the fresh meat on a spot slightly away from the fire. He wouldn’t want it to be heated up by the fire before they were done with the formal shit. His eyes sought out the fire, and he knew he would prefer the taste of smoked meat tonight. He was usually too simple, eating it raw like his system was designed for, but he was more than open to new things, and he did miss the taste of meat prepared over the fire.

The Lilium rolled his shoulders and gave a sigh. He had walked quite a while to get here, and he had brought with a not too large animal from the deer family, and three rabbits. Firefly had helped him down the larger animal, but the rabbits he had gotten alone, the last long eared animal he had caught only ten minutes from here, quite easily because its hind leg already had been injured, and it was slow. Hopefully this should be enough for a little meal. He let his body hit the ground next to the ghostly female and let a sigh enter the air heated up by the little fire she had started. This could not turn out bad, he thought. Nothing else but to wait for the rest of the pack. This was his favourite moment. It was always interesting to see who were left in the pack.

She hadn't been far behind Haku, yet she'd been moving at her own pace, lazily weaving her own path through the cool grasses, the damn dew tugging at her paws as she smiled to herself and watched the sunlight's last dying rays fading away into the twilight hours. The mournful howl of the Rosea met her ears but the young woman didn't quicken her pace. She knew she wouldn't be the last to the meeting tonight but she didn't want to be the first either.

Dropping her nose to the ground she caught the scent of Haku and atleast knew that both of the leaders were present on the park grounds. She lifted her head up, flicking her bangs from her eyes with the toss of her head and smiled to herself, remembering the moment the two had made the kill, the salty taste of blood and the overpowering scent of the Lilium, both equally powerful and both electrifying. She growled softly at the memories with a smug grin upon her maw as she finally picked up her feet.

The warm glowing light and the scent of the smokey bonefire made her eyes glow in the death of the day's sun, the coming night enveloping the lands beyond the candles and ornaments that Cercelee had deemed worthy to be useful during this meeting. The yearling trotted into the light, her hips swaying slightly as her tail danced softly back and forth behind her. She didn't pause until she leapt up onto one of the old logs and stuck her nose up against one of the lanterns, the flickering candle inside bravely flaring and fighting against her guttering breath.

Not wanting to put out the lantern the golden and bronze girl dropped off the log and slithered down into the warm grasses between the fire and the log that was now her backrest. Her bejeweled orbs gazed beyond the fire at the two leaders that sat there as she lowered her head to them for a moment as she adverted her eyes. Just as quickly as she'd showed her respect to them the girl lowered her lashes and dared Haku to do something about the distance she'd chosen to place between them, asuming that he wouldn't do a damn thing and it would drive him crazy just the same.

Warm, fuzzy light met green eyes as Mew -surprised but pleased- entered the scene. How Cer had thought of it, she didn't know, but it was beautiful. The little lights and the fire combined created a thick, warm and comfortable atmosphere, and the smell of burning wood and the meat that laid just a little distance away made it very cozy indeed. Although, since the rosea had called them here, she assumed there was some pack-related issue that was the point to the meeting as well, and that the tempting pieces of flesh would be devoured after formalities. Noticing that her brother and his plaything were already there, and that the male had put his behind so comfortably next to Cer, Mew chose to sit just on the other side of the fire, across her rosea. Her brother made her uncomfortable, and Firefly made her want to slap things. Hopefully someone more pleasant would come along sometime, and sit with her. As she sat down, arranging her two-legged form in a lotus-like position and placing the guitar case and sheet casket next to her, she nodded to those present. Quite formal to her brother and Firefly, though somewhat warmer to Cer. This is nice. Her smile was genuine.

[html] Slay ambled in his usual way, never on time and yawning upon entry. His pale eyes blinked owlishly in the bright blaze of the bonfire, unused to such direct light after his lazy, sleepy day. Cercelee, Haku, Firefly, Mew -- all the pack authority was present, he noted with a light smirk. How many others there were, he was not sure. As always, the comings and goings of pack members often slipped right under his nose. The arctic wolf took his position alongside Mew, smiling at his musical friend. Would they be singing tonight? What was the purpose of this gathering? A pack meeting, sure, but there was more than that alone. They never had refreshments at the other meetings. As his ice-blue eyes adjusted to the flickering lighting, he took a more studious inspection of the area. There were decorations...? Enough fresh meat for the group of wolves, although Slay felt a slight pang of envy that he, the head hunter, had not been asked to provide for the pack. Was it supposed to be a surprise, or had his demotion included all his duties?

He finally let his curious gaze settle on Cercelee. He had not seen her two-legger form before. He was accustomed to Mew and Firefly, since they were frequently shifted for whatever personal reasons, so it was not a complete shock. Still... the firelight played interesting patterns on her elongated, slender form, making her silky white fur almost sparkle and glow. The warmth of the fire caused him to shift, and he looked away, wondering yet again what it must feel like to have... fingers, and arms, rather than paws.

"Well, isn't this a lovely night," he murmured, smiling at everyone present. It was a little forced for Firefly and Haku, who both made him feel rather awkward, but a genuine smile for Mew and Cercelee. The sweet woodsmoke wreathed his nostrils, and he inhaled, savoring the rare but pleasant scent.

Sorry about being late in replying.

It was the noon before All Hollow’s Eve. The air was cool and crisp, crackling with silver tones and sighing with the soft laughter of a brooks gurgle. The fire of the turning earth had begun to die, and the world lay in a golden glory dulled by time. The damp earth was black and the sky a deep blue. The high contrasts of lights and darks set a pestiferous mood upon the lands. Yet, it was due neither to the weather nor the mood of the pack itself, but to the nature of the day itself. This night was the night of the rising spirits, where the living may reside with the dead, where divided lovers may embrace, where eternal enemies may live in spite. And, for Cwmfen nic Graine, this night was the turning of the new year.

There stirred a nostalgia within her gut, for this day brought memories of her childhood. Because the moon of her birth had been nearly three moons from this day of rising souls, she had experienced her first All Hollow’s Eve relatively early. In the comfort and protection of her mother, she had nothing to fear from the crow-wolf. Yet, in retrospect, he had never been openly unkind to Graine before her—that she had been aware of. His authoritative air and silent, lugubrious tendencies had intrigued her as a pup, even as they continued to do so now... His presence had always been an enigma.

Black, woad-marked aurals erected as the crania rose sharply. There was a cry upon the wind, calling with near-desolate tones. The voice was familiar to her, though she had never heard the voice upon the wind as such. It was the Rosea Cercelee who called, and so Cwmfen automatically rose, setting off in a swift, light sprint towards the beckoning call. The she-wolf’s movements were effortless as she loped upon four legs, knowing that two would not be efficient for the travel of such a distance. Yet, in the time since Ember Pheonix had discovered with her the luperci form, Cwmfen had become quite adept with that new body. She discovered a way of fighting the required more than the simple movement of the body, and the ease with which her body moved with the rhythms frightened her, for she knew that it was the Corean crow-wolf from which she had inherited it...

Ahead, the sharp, white eyes found a light in the darkness, and she soon realized that she neared the town square. A light smile came to her maw as she considered the circumstances. It had been the town square that she had first encountered the Rosea, and it was the town square once more where she would meet the white leader. The silhouettes, she found, were erect. The swift, black paws slowed. Perhaps she should shift too...? She frowned slightly. The Shift still required a good amount of time, which would only make her late, but, reluctantly, in the cover of the trees, the woad-marked female shifted.

The Shift proceeded smoothly, but it took a good quarter of an hour. Afterwords, the female lay upon her back as the focus of her energy receded back into the recesses of her mind. Then, rising, she proceeded to the meeting.

She saw Cercelee and Haku sitting near the fire—they were the only ones she recognized. There were two other females and a male, their scents the only thing she recognized. There was an air of amicable confidence as she entered the ring of light, but hints of quiet warning were present too. Yet, there was a timidity about her as well, and it was this that possibly brought on the warning. When she had first met Haku and Cercelee, she had felt relatively safe for their position as the leaders of the pack, but with the other pack members, she felt somehow more exposed. Social situations were simply awkward to her.

Her gait was slow and measured as she proceeded. Pausing, she acknowledged both leaders, showing respect with averted eyes and humbled form. Then, quietly, she took a place on a bench on her own, elegantly flicking her marked tail behind her. She enjoyed the heat from the large fire, and, as she took a quick sweep of the place, she was intrigued by all the human things she saw, and impressed by their uses and display. But she remained silent and reserved, for she new this must be a gathering, but she knew not the nature of it.

Pack meeting. Haku should reply next and then everyone else. Yeeeeaaaah. Oct 31, dusk. Town Square.

Haku arrived, tossing down the meat and Cercelee looked over it with a critical eye and then nodded gratefully at the Lilium. “This will do nicely, good job.” Although she spoke lowly, her words were sincere. Had she had no white fur masking her face, Cercelee would have easily blushed at the compliment Haku showed the work she had put into the town square. Although a master at hiding her true motives and feelings, Cercelee was unsure of how tonight would go, the pack members would have to decide that. And Cercelee was eager for them to arrive and decide how the fate of the night was to unfold.

Arriving one by one, Cercelee nodded but said nothing until enough time had passed that any left in the packlands would have arrived. With dark navy eyes she took in all that had assembled, Firefly, keeping a coy distance from Haku, Mew adjacent to Cercelee herself, Slay whom was the only unshifted one in the group, and Cwmfen whom choose a spot of her own, probably due to not knowing anyone but Haku and herself. Raising herself up, if only to be heard better, Cercelee spoke warmly to the group, looking to each as she spoke their name to make sure all those who did not know the others would now meet. “Welcome, Haku, Mew, Firefly, Slay and Cwmfen. So this is all that is left of us?” It was disheartening to see their numbers so low after their pack had grown so well, but Cercelee did not doubt the loyalty of those whose eyes she met tonight. “No, there is one whom I still count among us, but has left to attend to family business. Alexey told me to expect her back later in winter.”

Clearing her throat (and at the same time her mind) Cercelee scanned her mental list of items to go over tonight, the list her and Haku had made of what to go over in the pack meeting. “It has been a while since a meeting, but this is not an ordinary meeting, as you all can see. After the formalities are finished, tonight is a night of celebration and reflection. We shall celebrate this pack and the members here tonight, reflect on our pasts, and perhaps celebrate and reflect on the lives of those who may not be with us anymore” Yes, tonight was a night of spirits, good spirits and past spirits, Cercelee just hopes that her pack could feel the energy she felt tonight.

“Before we begin with that, I know some of you already have duties with your co-ranks, but with our numbers so low, I need to remind us all that border patrol is up to everyone. As Haku is our only scout, he is incapable of keeping the borders safe day and night by himself. All strangers should be treated with caution, and even friends and family should be reported to either Haku or myself if you intend for them to have a prolonged stay within these lands. Of course I welcome all friends and family of my pack mates, but lately there have been too many canines coming through here with little regard to those who claim these lands.” Cercelee felt a tinge of guilt with these words, her policy had always been an open and friendly one, but more and more, with the war having opened her eyes, she was beginning to see the sense in a more tightly knit community. “Furthermore, I’d like anyone not with a co-rank currently to consider taking one up, or if not yet at the rank that one can acquire a co-rank, consider what you will choose. Also, while this is certainly not a pressing need, our pack lands are abundant with resources. We have wine and vineyards, a harbor, a fertile field in which we can grow anything, buildings upon buildings in which there is an abundance of items to be discovered and put to use. We also have quite the library with many books, full of useful as well as non useful items. I’d like us, beginning now, to start to use these resources. Learn new skills and teach each other old skills. Let us brain storm. If anyone has anything else to add, anything at all, a complaint, a suggestion, anything, speak now.” Cercelee sighed, looking to Haku. He of course would have the first chance to speak, but she had covered all the formal topics that were important to her, and barring any other issues to be dealt with, she would be more than happy to move on to the celebration.

The remaining members that were still here came as always. He noticed with indifference the lack of the black Susquehanna, his and Mew’s aunt, sister of their mother. He would not particularly miss her, not because she was not worth missing, but because he had meant she had not been suited for a pack life from the impression he had gotten from her in general, and specially he remembered their last interaction, where she had managed to piss him off by acting in a way he found disrespectful in the presence of a trespasser. The rest he all knew and Firefly knew so well what she was doing, and as usual driving him crazy mentally. Mew was as uncomfortable with him as he want with her, so that fitted very well. At the rest of the arrivals he simply nodded then looked away, always keeping his gaze in the fire, except when the need to look at Firefly became too much.

Chocolate ears flickered in a shallow discomfort in agreement to the fragment of sadness in Cercelee’s voice as she let her voice announce the opening of the pack meeting. He said nothing, just kept his gaze on the ivory leader as she spoke, dutifully paying attention. Border control was now under control, as Cer announced it was up to everyone. He was content with that. Scouting was not a hard job, and just taking a walk not too far from the borders was enough. Some more info, more or less, and the alphess was done. Cold eyes in the shade of ice a cold winter morning turned to him, but she had covered what he had wanted, so he had very little he wanted to share with the rest, aside from announcing all the dirty things he wanted to do with the wolfess he had learned was his very cousin. Was it a disgusting thing, fooling around with a family member? Too bad in that case, because the copper lady was lovely.

While we encourage everyone to pay some attention to the borders in general, there are open scout slots for those who want to spend long days wandering back and forth in half circles. If any of you are interested, poke me about it. There. That was all. He let his gaze meet Cercelee’s before he let it wander over to each of the other pack members in turn. Now was time for any of them to speak up.

She'd let her eyes linger on the members as they'd slowly filtered into the meeting ring, the looks that she received from a few of them didn't bother her too much. She knew that her own private life wasn't too private considering who it consisted of but she didn't care. If others wanted to involve themselves in the darker side of her life that was fine by her as long as they kept tart words and their additudes to themselves. She yawned and turned her face away once they'd gathered, her eyes catching sight of Haku as she realized those preditorial eyes were on her. A sly smile pressed upon her maw as she realized that Cercelee was drawing up the openning of the meeting.

The icy leader spoke as Firefly's eyes turned back when her name was spoken. She felt a flash of alarm when Cercelee hasn't mentioned Alexey but it seemed just the same the white woman had corrected herself with the knowledge that Alexey was tending to family ties. Firefly wrinkled her nose a moment as she drapped an arm over the log she'd been leaning against, wishing that Alexey had told her she was heading off and leaving her all alone again in the lands. She'd seen the few members she'd even felt were like friends disappear, except Haku, but she herself wasn't even sure what to consider the Lilium anymore.

Her ears flickered forward as she absorbed the rest of the lady's speech as she pondered just what she could be good for. She could probably imagine what a few of the packmembers thought she was good for but that was their problem. She knew how to read and write, she was a fair hand at hunting and an excellent tracker.. She just didn't know if the others would appreciate her skills. Normally she wouldn't have cared, but the plead from the Rosea would probably turn into a demand at some point.. she might as well make her choices sooner than later.

While she was pondering the chocolate mocha male that was her part time lover had stood up to confirm the words their leader had spoken of and add his own. She hadn't expected him to add much more, the male wasn't normally one for lengthy speeches except when needed. She watched him from the corner of her eye as he spoke, just asking for help on scouting the lands. Firefly ran one hand through her unruly hair before rolling onto her belly and perching her upper body upon another rough log that would probably be used as fuel for the fire soon enough. She flashed Haku a grin as she spoke up. "I can help with scouting.." She knew that she could probably be helpful around the pack and along the other packlands as well as the unclaimed territory. She had enough family members spread across the lands she could seek out to visit while she explored. "It's not like I have a short supply of family in other packs.. since everything keep changing." She knew the others would understand if they'd been outside the packlands at all. The packs that had been there had rotated and some had removed themselves entirely. It was a little unnerving to walk into lands you knew were claimed last moon and now were bare of all.

She glanced down at her hands as she admitted as well, "I can help with the tracking and hunting as well.." She didn't look up to Haku when she spoke of it, though he'd been around enough lately she knew how he tended to disappear until he wanted that fire that bored between them. She didn't want to spend her days waiting unbusy til his next dark yearning.

Mew Sadira

R a m b l o m a t i c
Word count: 636

The others in the pack arrived one after one, and Mew's curiosity was tickled by Cwmfen. She had not yet met her one-on-one, although she hadn't sought it either. Mew was an odd creature, a loner in a pack, staying off the more popular areas of her packlands. Lately she'd been hanging around by her children's grave (the place did no longer scare her as much as it had initially), bathing in memories from before everything became complicated. Cwmfen was, because of this somewhat lonely position Mew had put herself in, a mystery. Normally, pack members would grow tired from waiting for Mew to approach them, and they would give in and approach Mew instead. Cwmfen had done nothing of the sort - which presented a challenge. It was an odd game that Mew liked to play; it sorted the interesting personalities from the "normal" ones, and the dark female with the odd markings was seemingly winning this round. Eventually, Mew'd have to approach her, she reckoned. That should be interesting.

Once everyone had arrived and settled, waiting for Cer's reason for bringing them here, and looking at the pretty lights everywhere, the rosea chose to stand up to speak. A long flow of words came out of her, and it seemed their leader had decided that they should all get to know each other deeper tonight. Perhaps they would do exactly that, but knowing herself, Mew knew she would probably sneak off sometime after the formalities were over. A collective gathering with Haku and Firefly? She was bound to get on someone's bad side. It would be better to sneak off. That didn't mean Mew wouldn't stay for the feasting, though. Good flesh like that shouldn't be wasted, and the fire was still pretty. Haku spoke to add information to what Cer had just said, speaking of scout ranks and whatnot. The scout rank was slightly unnecessary now that the war was over, but there was always patrolling in the hope of finding a coyote to torment. Not physically, mind you.. but still. There were a lot of games that could be played.

Firefly the spoke, making a fair point about the change of packs around the area. It seemed that they rose and died faster than the seasons in the year, sending their members chasing after new homes. Mew was glad Dahlia de Mai had proved to be consistent, and not struggling to survive. The way Firefly behaved, however, made Mew frown openly as she watched her form curl around on the ground like some child. Or perhaps like a person who found pride in behaving like a concubine. Whatever her reason to do it, it was disgraceful. Didn't the girl have any dignity? and to think she was their cousin only made it worse. Mew had, luckily, avoided that gene of lightheaded-ness her cousin obviously had a problem with handling.

Waiting until the colourful femme was done talking and wriggling around, Mew removed the frown from her face and turned her face to Cercelee to reply to their request. As she spoke, she let her eyes travel onto everyone else as well, to signalize that the idea was out there for anyone to criticize. I've been thinking for a while that my co-rank isn't very beneficial for us, as it seems no one but myself is interested in the human music. I'd gladly teach that, and reading to anyone who wants to learn this, but perhaps I should take on another co-rank and just have musician as more of a title? I don't feel very useful, with my guitar. One hand moved in the direction of the guitar case lying next to her on the ground, and her face was open to await an answer from Cer, or anyone else, for that matter.

I've got soul but I'm not a soldier

Slay curiously studied the unfamiliar female, her dark lithe two-legger form marked with twisted blue patterns. Her scent was vaguely familiar - he didn't think they had met before, but apparently their paths had crossed. Was he supposed to know her? Cercelee addressed her by name, making Slay feel guilty, until he noticed Mew at his side watching her too. He wasn't the only one who had yet to speak to Cwmfn, it seemed.

As his leaders, Cercelee and Haku, spoke of border patrol duties, co-ranks, and scouting, Slay let his mind wander to other subjects. Things were changing in their pack, weren't they - Hanna was nowhere to be seen, nor shy Ember, nor Windseeker with her bird partner. He had trouble remembering their faces, to be honest with himself, but it was still strange to think their pack was back to its original size again. That would make him the only male besides Haku, too, since there was no sign of Desaevio, Mew's rabbit-loving friend. Not only were the faces different, but now he was the only one still on four paws. It was a bit unsettling to think that the natural way to walk now made him the odd man out... again.

Smirking lop-sidedly at this observation, Slay swiveled his white-tipped ears, catching the end of Firefly and Mew's conversation. Firefly would scout, and Mew would teach music and reading? "Reading... That could be helpful, with all the old human dwellings on our territory. I might take you up in that, Mew, all those little squiggles make me curious." He winked a blue eye at her, grinning pleasantly. He'd be happy to sing along, as always, but he certainly couldn't work a guitar without hands and fingers! No one really questioned why the luperci did not transform, which was a welcome surprise to him, although he certainly questioned it enough himself. His heart sank a little in his chest when he thought more closely on what Cercelee had spoken about - the libraries, vineyard, possible farmland... If the others pitched in and helped, it could be the idyllic place they were hoping for, but how could Slay use any of those resources?

"As to scouting, I'm familiar enough with the unclaimed territories - I could wander there on a regular basis if you need my help, or I could spend more time around the borders. There hasn't been much call for me hunting, but maybe I could give pointers on catching fish..." Slay's voice was more subdued than its usual jovial boom, since he always felt self-conscious around other wolves, especially those with rank, and those who had shifted. At least he was no longer afraid to speak his opinion. ...Right?

When the white Rosea began to speak, Cwmfen knew suddenly that this must be a pack meeting. She reminisced on her encounter with Cercelee the first time around—it had been in this same place. A town square, where pack meetings were held. The fae was glad that she could experience one so soon, especially since she’d see all the members. It seemed that Dahlia de Mai was not a large pack, but numbers, she knew well, meant nothing when compared to skill. And she supposed that this pack that was now her own must have such skill; had it not, it would not have survived. While she had not been within these lands for a long while, she knew already of two packs that had dispersed. She wondered what would happen to those territories.... Cercelee’s tone had initially felt somber, but it soon brightened with the talk of festivities. The black female smiled softly to herself, though it could have easily been dismissed as a twitch. She wondered what it was that packs did, and this night seemed to be the prime opportunity. It seemed that the spirits were favoring her wishes tonight.

The talk of co-ranks interested her. The woad-marked she-wolf still considered becoming a hunter. While, as Haku added, a wolf accustomed wandering might enjoy the position as scout—and Cwmfen did indeed enjoy her wandering—the female wanted a little change in her life.... Hunting was similar to battle, she had always thought, and obtaining the co-rank of hunter would give her the opportunity to continue to hone her skills—not to the same extent as combat would, but there was really no need for such action, it seemed. And if hunting did not suit her personality or life style, she could always change to scout. Cercelee had said that it would not cause any conflict to change as such, but Cwmfen wanted to cause minimal conflict, and so she remained thoughtfully considering the options.

But the woman Firefly stated that she would take up a rank as scout. There seemed to be some sort of chemistry between the two, but the black female had set herself at such a distance that the nature of the connection was left unknown. Yet, she was only mildly curious, and leaving such an observation hanging only mildly irritated her self. She felt that she did not need to pry in the business of others, but she was always curious to know the nature of those that directly affected her. However, as she continued on her tangent, the female decided that this did not directly affect her and so let it drop.

The female averted her attention to the other members that spoke, and she listened to their tone, their diction, and their words to try and decipher what personalities were present; however, it was difficult to discern this early in the acquaintance.

Cwmfen was intrigued by Mew’s words. "You are a musician? If you are good with lyrics, the song can be used to tell the stories or histories of the pack.... It is an age-long custom where I come from.... If this pack desires a history, perhaps the musician can be its writer?" The soft, musical lilt of the Caledonian-Korean merely suggested a thought that occurred. She smiled softly, pausing only slightly before she continued. "Yet reading would be useful to learn," she agreed to Slay, "as there is a library...." The black tail wagged softly behind her as she trailed off into silence. It would be nice to learn how to finally read. There were so many things that she had encountered in her travels that required reading, but her ignorance had kept her in the dark. She wondered what things there would be to read about in the library.

Then the woad-marked fae glanced towards the black and white male. "I would not mind helping with the boarder patrol, but I think that I’d like to look into hunting." As the silver tones ceased, Cwmfen seemed to be finished in her contribution, but then she spoke once more, almost as an after thought. "I know that numbers are low, but I noticed that there are many who shift to luperci and who prefer to clothe themselves. Cwmfen herself preferred not to clothe herself. She was accustom to the wind and grasses as her cloak, and so she did not adapt well to wearing garments. "Perhaps if there was one interested, a tailor could be of use?" Then she fell silent, and, smiling shyly and looking towards the earth, it seemed apparent that, at the moment, there was nothing more for her to say.

I lied Hkau, I will reply, but I am also PP Haku a little, ahahah! Sorry guys, I am swamped!

One after another the members voiced their opinions and offered their services and Cercelee smiled at them. Firefly would scout, Cwmfen would hunt and the others would pick up the slack, which would work nicely. They could be, if they worked together and communicated as a pack should, a well oiled machine. Effective and efficient, putting their skills best where they were needed and where they would benefit most. The group assembled, Cercelee pack, was family, friends and partners all of them, even if they did not particularly consider certain individuals friends. They had a responsibility to each other and to the greater good of the pack and it seemed that all of them were more than willing to step up to the plate, and the Rosea couldn’t be more pleased with everyone.

Cercelee nodded as Cwmfen finished speaking and then she too turned to Mew. “Actually, I’d like you to play tonight, if you wouldn’t mind. The co-rank musician will remain, even if you don’t fill it, but no one here has better skill with an instrument than you, so I don’t think you should step down. I would not have the culture, as new as it is, of our pack suffer.” Turning to Slay she smiled helpless, openly admitting to the pack a fact she was embarrassed of. “Perhaps, Slay, we could learn together? I don’t know how ot read either, so Mew might be so kind as to teach both of us.”

Rising Cercelee strode over to the meat, picking up one of the rabbits and tossing it over the flames into Haku’s waiting hands. “Let us feast now, and would you do us the honor of roasting the first rabbit?” Leaving Haku to his chore Cercelee moved over to the gazebo and pulled up the bottles of wine, passing them around as she returned, before emptying her hands and turning away from the others. The shift back to a four legged form went smoothly and took only ten minutes, but she was breathless when she turned back and took a seat beside Slay, accepting the first bite of flesh from Haku’s roasted rabbit in tradition of the alpha eating first and then nodding to the others to begin.

300+ Also, feel free to reply if/whenever you want to, I don't see any need for a posting order, as the 'official pack' business is over with.

The blue eyed brute was satisfied with the replies from the Dahlia members, and it put his mind to peace, if only for a few moments. To be honest there had been no surprise to hear that Firefly volunteered to border patrolling, and he knew very well that this could spice up parts of his days on the borders. Maybe it was merely wishful thinking, but Haku seemed to always be able to get what he wanted. A echo of a smirk touched his lips vaguely, and a blue gaze flashed to emerald before the moment was gone, and Firefly could only be left to wonder what she was going to face within the next few days.

The voice from the Rosea seemed to be distant, and announced the departure from reality. It was solitary thanks to reflexes that he caught the rabbit the ghostlike form tossed at him. Quickly he threw the meat over his shoulder and turned to the nearest tree, which thankfully happened to be located right behind him. A branch was stripped and the meat was fastened and positioned over the fire. The sub-leader let his eyes slowly touch every member, daring them to question his odd handling of the situation. To be honest, he had been experimenting a bit with preparation of meat in the little cottage he called home, so all of a sudden a simple piece of roasted meat seemed a little… dull for his tongue.

Obediently he offered the alphess the first piece of roasted meat when it was well done, but he did not take any bite himself, but gesticulated to have the meat sent around to the other pack members instead. He went on and placed threads of deer meat to the pole and held it slightly above the naked flames. Haku had never been fond of these social gatherings, not of this kind anyways, but he could cope, sit here and be the simple beginner chief for the evening. It was cool.

Mew Sadira

Exams are over!!! Big Grin
Word count: 356

Surprised, Mew looked at her leader as she told her to play. Obviously, that would be the part she had, but seeing as they hardly ever met, all of them, on other than formal occasions, she'd simply put that out of her head. She had not expected this, and suddenly realized she was not prepared either. Music-wise she did not have to, but the guitar was out of tune. She nodded at the request, and as soon as Cer spoke of feasting, she grabbed her guitar case and quickly moved a few yards away. She did not want to sit among them and tune the guitar; it looked unprofessional. And Mew was far too proud to be seen doing that. It didn't take long, and when she returned, Cer was sitting among the others, shifted into her four-legged form again, looking quite a bit more at peace. Someone, Mew assumed it was Haku as she had heard his name spoken vaguely when stepping away, had roasted a rabbit and now a piece of deer was getting treatment from the heat. Obviously, seeing as Cer was the one chewing on the rabbit meat, the feast had already begun. Again she sat down with her feet in a position similar to the lotus, rested the body of the guitar on her thigh and started playing. A vague sound, a low hum came from her throat; a wordless melody that was calm and soothing, leaving everything up to the imagination of the listener. She knew that she was background music, but she was not background music to herself. The sound of her fingers plucking a soft melody on the three lighter strings mixed in with the crackling of the fire, and Mew quickly lost her focus on what happened around her. The music streamed from the instrument she held in her hands, and she paid no attention to anything but the composition of tones. If anyone spoke to her, she would shift her attention, but if she was left alone, she would sit here until everyone went and longer. It just worked that way, with Mew and her guitar.

Sorry for the wait! ^=^;; Not a good post though, OnO

Cwmfen was looking forward to hear Mew sing, as she was curious as to what type of melodies these lands harbored. She realized suddenly that she had never heard a song in these lands. She found that to be strange, as the song was a powerful tool for history and morale where she originated—at least her mother had said. The female tried to remember the songs from her childhood, but found that she could only remember the tune and not the words. Of course, it did not really matter, for true music told a tale from the notes alone. In times of great anxiety and fear, Cwmfen would find herself humming, finding solace in the history of her culture. With Cercelee’s request for Mew’s song, the black female hoped that she would learn of this culture as well.

It appeared that the official meeting had ended. The female took a quick sweep of the place, wondering what was supposed to happen next and feeling lost. Social situations had never been her highlight, and she felt awkward, especially because most of the members were unfamiliar to her. She remained distanced, feeling better that way, looking only when the wine was passed to her. Quickly, she passed it to the next member, for she was not fond of alcohol at all. She hated the taste of it, and it only made her vulnerable to whoever was trying to steal her meal—at least it had been that way when she had been on her own. And such habits tended to stick.

When she saw that Cercelee had gone to shift, she too moved out of the circle of light to change. If she was going to eat—and she decided that she was indeed hungry—she would need to change. It just seemed to make more sense to eat in lupus form, and it was easier too. Having changed, she returned to the circle, climbing onto the bench, and found that the white Rosea had already returned, and Cwmfen was once again reminded of her own newness. Already, the ceremony of the alpha eating first had already been completed (a ceremony that instilled both comfort and fear into her heart). For some reason, this dampened her mood, and her ears flattened against her head as she lay her head upon her paws. The white orbs watched the glowing fire absently.... And suddenly, Mew was playing her music. The woad-marked female lifted her crania, listening intently to the music that poured forth. The humming added more than words could have, and she felt suddenly as if she knew the stories of these lands, as if she had always been a part of them. Her soul was eased by the sound of that melody, and a easy smile flickered on her lips.

"That was beautiful," she offered quietly, as if afraid to offer the compliment. Her words were nearly inaudible, but it seemed irrelevant whether or not the words were heard by anyone else. Did it matter to the other what she thought? She wondered that sincerely. At least, she decided, her own thoughts were important to herself. And that would have to be enough for now.

The white orbs looked once more at each of the members, and she felt a new appreciation for them. As her gaze made a sweep, they fell upon the females, then upon Slay, and last upon Haku. She considered the Lilium for a few extra moments before her attention was averted by the food. Then she took some for herself and distracted her mind with the delicious meat that would satisfy her craving.

Firefly Sadira had caught the look that Haku had sent her way, but she merely lifted her chin and stared off in the distance. She would let him think that she would be on the borders for his amusement and yet she had other plans. She knew that scouting didn't limit her to the packlands and she planned to make herself scarce from time to time to find out just what the other packs held and how strong they were. Though Dahlia de Mai was not a large pack she knew that they were strong, if everyone could get over their own personal little problems. At the thought her eyes turned towards the musician of the pack, the ivory woman who seemed to dislike her so. She flicked her mane back over her shoulders as she gave up on Haku's sibling, she was after all in her own little world as she was absorbed in the music.

Watching the others of the pak as they began to move around and take new seats and after Cercelee had taken the traditional first take of the kill Firefly herself rose from the warmth of where she'd been nesting. Making a point of ignoring Haku, for she knew it would torment him even more knowing that he had to stay and she could do as she wished. She'd picked up the thigh off of one of the rabbits and walked over to where Cercelee had taken her spot in the celebration. Firefly would watch over the packlands while the rest of the pack feasted and in doing so she knew she would drive the Lilium to the brink and leave him with nothing but his thoughts.

Dropping the haunch for a moment she lowered her head as she murmured. "I'll take first patrol Cercelee.." informing the woman of her intentions and where she could be found. Though it was a day for celebrations there were still shadows in the darkness and dangers outside their lands. She doubted that they were in any real danger but atleast she would have a good excuse for her early leave of the meeting.
