soul without a heart

Dec 3rd.

The woman had been returned to her cottage though in her mind she wasn't for sure of that. She'd laid outside on the porch ignoring the numbing cold that whipped across her pelt. Deuce hadn't said anything but the Matriarch already knew the extent of damage the bear had done, not alone of course. She would never had been mauled in the first place of Ahren hadn't stepped in to prevent her escape to safety. She'd left that part out, she'd left everything out to be exact. Deuce already had realized a bear had been the cause of her injuries and Iskata had let it be. The banadges that covered her body were nice for one thing, atleast the world wasn't forced to see the damage the beast had done to her silvery gold pelt. The ones Deuce had placed over her once sky orbs were pointless, Iskata's eyesight was gone and she didn't even know where she belonged anymore.

Her ears were pinned back against her skull as she ignored the whimpering of the last remaining pup from her litter. The child could be fed meat though she still needed milk. The woman was too weak of body and soul to tend to the feedings and she knew that her son had taken up the duties until Deuce had her litter, giving the youngest Sadira milk from the lifestock out in the pasture. Iskata should have been curled up by the fire with the small hybrid by her side atleast but her own sorrows and pains were keeping her out in the cold harsh winds.

Everything seemed to be falling through her paws just at the top of her game. She'd never been happier than the time she'd been spending with her pack lately.. but after the accident she'd pulled herself away from the center of things, it wasn't like she could even assist in a damn thing anyways. Pink tinted tears seeped through the bandages as she was faced with the truth, there wasn't anywhere left for her as a leader of their pack what could a blind cripple do to defend her people, what could she do when a stranger came calling. She was worthless, the weakest link.

I am so, so sorry for the wait on this hun, I am honestly sorry.

push it inThe freezing chill that whipped across the lands was ignored by the tall dark fae that was walking across the lands, her long fingers wrapped around her elbows as she folded her arms across her chest. She walked quickly, her lithe legs moving her across the land as she glanced around, she had stayed after seeing Deuce, she had wanted to see where her pale former lover now lived, where she had chosen to stay now, she wanted to see her new pack. And so she was walking around it, exploring, sure that Deuce wouldn't mind all that much should she stick around for a little while. Soran's green eyes roved across the land as she wandered, her eyes roving over the farmland that the pack had taken over, it seemed well cared for, the pack clearly seemed to be doing well for themselves, the ebony lady was pleased, she was saddened that her beautiful former lover was so far away, but she was so glad to see that she was succeding at leading a pack, that it seemed to be flourishing.

push it inAs she viewed the land, Soran smiled, it did indeed to be doing well, there were plenty of animals around here, she wondered if the wolves were rearing them to eat, or if they were rearing them for other reasons, she knew that cow's milk was drinkable, perhaps they had realised this and decided to be what humans had called farmers. The land seemed to be dotted with small houses, this to the obsidian pelted lady seemed marvellous, she had always loved living in a house, a human convienience that she actually liked, they were warm dry shelters that she had not had to dig herself and they could house more than one wolf, she adored them, especially in the winter when it was freezing and she was able to come in from the cold and sit infront of a roaring fire on a comfortable chair. These wolves had the right idea it seemed, though it appeared from the sheer amount of homes here that they were living seperately, it was different to the communal living of the Crimson Dreams pack, but the packs seemed akin in their ideals.

push it inIt was as the lady viewed these houses that she spied something odd, a bandaged fae laying on one of the porches, a small pup nudging at her side. The fae was instantly worried that there was something wrong, she worried that the fae was really hurt and that her pup was trying to wake her. Soran instantly changed her direction, moving rapidly towards the house, ready to offer any assistance for the bandaged fae and her pup, perhaps the woman had fallen and needed helping inside? As she neared the house she noticed the silver and gold pelt of the fae, this she recognised, she knew that pelt, she was sure she had met a similarly coloured female a long time ago, once, only briefly, but she had met her. As she reached speaking distance she wracked her brains trying to remember the fae's name, she was sure she had met her before, she was sure she had known her name. Finally the dark pelted lady realised that she couldn't just stand there in silence, it was rude.
“Erm... Hello, are you alright, do you need any help?” The dark lady asked, her tone warm but concerned.

The winds that whipped across their lands brought her all kinds of news, from the fact that the cattle were well and content in the field, that the half wild horses were nervous, their nickering calls strong as they moved across the padlock, as well there seemed to be the scent of another on the way. She raised her head as the scent crossed her muzzle and before she could even stop herself she opened her eyes and tried to catch sight of the lady. Her shoulders sagged as she was brought to realize once more that she couldn't see anylonger. A bitter little thought crossed her mind, wondering how long it was going to take before she stopped trying to see what was right before her.. before it wasn't ingrained behavior. She'd never had to unlearn something and she wasn't sure if she was ready to try.

Her mind had drawn her offtrack of the fact that she knew someone was there but before she could even attempt to try and figure out who was there in the snow a voice called out. Iskata relaxed slightly as she nudged the puppy back under the blankets that had been left there. She knew that Zana should be outside but no one else was home to watch after her so it seemed the mother actually had to play her part though there was little she could do to help the child if anything happened. She shook her head after a moment in answer to the lady she couldn't see. "No..." she said. The answer to both question. She obviously wasn't alright but there was nothing she could do either.

Iskata tilted her head to the side and asked quietly. "What are you doing here?" She had no real clue who the woman was, the scent was one she knew but there was no face to place it with and her memory wasn't strong enough to work off one sense alone. She hated these new changes in her life and how helpless they made her feel. She only hoped that the woman wasn't one that in the past she had hoped she'd never meet again.
