The little black nose she wore was a half decent guide, leading her out of their home cave and into the brisk winter day. It was an interesting smell, tickling her nostrils at first, then not letting her rest until she had found the source. It took her into the cold, the snow that had become packed and in some places slick with ice. Crunching along the outside of the cave she let her eyes wander up and down, searching for what ever had caught her noses attention.

It was sweet, or was it tangy? It was to complex for his inexperienced mind to decipher. Of course it was much simpler to anyone else that may be following her, but to the earthen hued girl was lost in her own world. Skirting around the mansion’s boundaries, her big paws found it difficult to keep her disproportioned body upright. Slipping she was forced to find relief in the paw prints of another much larger beast.

Hopping from print to print she made her way around the white fence. Eyes caught something much like the smell her nose had found and followed. Only able to focus on one thing at once the pup moved toward the ice beams that hung from the picket fence railings. Its wasn’t something truly new, but usually such things hung from tall openings, or the roof of the house. Curiosity made her tall wiggle, as a pink tongue searched to catch the drop of water the clung to the icicle's end.

My apologies for the wait. New Year started off as a stressful pile o' crap. :/
[html]

The new year meant nothing to him. Time really didn't mean anything to him, though as time had passed he had gradually gotten bigger. They were all growing and though he didn't notice it, his once baby blue eyes had made their transition over to a gold-green that belonged to relatives that he didn't even know. Winter had yet to abate and had only grown more ferocious, much to his dismay, but it didn't stop him from making treks between den and house at lightning fast speeds. He wanted to stay out of the cold as much as he possibly could, but this time he was interrupted midway between that speedy trek by someone.

Mati! his mind pointed out as a wiry grin automatically unfurled across his dark muzzle. He beelined straight for her at that point, ready and willing to sneak up on her (an impossible feat to do with so much crunchy snow underfoot) as she poised herself between the fence slats. By the time he had actually gotten slow enough to break into a run, he let out a ferocious little growl that was more about playing than attacking and more or less went to barrel into her. Screw catching water drops, was his body language, let's wrestle!

no worries.. i think i'm in love with Salem! he's so cute!

Hold it… Her tongue was so close to the frosty drop that clung to the icicle. There would be nothing like the taste of fresh melted ice, she knew it. As insignificant as the experience may seem, it mattered to the chocolate fey. It was a challenge that she could conquer, and to the meek pup there weren’t many things that gave her such confidence.

Violet eyes crossed as she concentrated, but the noise around her didn't leave much room for focus. Still she was able to hold her view, until her body was lodged from her position. A black ball forced itself into her side, making her topple over into the snow. It was only then that she realized that the noises she had heard were footfalls and growls.

Salem! Her voice showed her annoyance. But there was no anger in her eyes. Thoughts of the icicle were forgotten, and what was left was the new fight that stood before her. Teeth went for the silent boy’s ear, a favorite target of the brown pup.

I'm having a ball playing him, that's for sure. Big Grin

Mati's annoyed tone didn't mean anything to him. Perhaps he was just hellbent on tormenting one of his siblings today (quite likely, especially his sister in this case), or perhaps it was just because he wanted to play (also quite likely; even if she didn't!). Either way, a slightly evil glint crossed through his eyes as she reacted in the way he wanted, seizing his ear between her teeth and a faint smile followed the action momentarily. It faded away just as it had came because he moved to grab her scruff, putting his white-toed black feet on her. He wanted to bowl her over and pin her down for no real reason, though instinct had a large part in it. Another growl rumbling low in his chest, he gently chewed the first bit of fur and skin he got a hold on, but not so meanly that he would cause her pain. The last thing he wanted was to hurt her over a little game—especially if she'd cry and tattle—and more than anything, he knew he wanted someone to play with at a later date.

DAM IT

He didn’t say much, Mati had noticed long ago. The rest of them had gotten on talking the moment their voice had come to them, and still Salem saved his words for only the rarest of moments. But to his sister, he didn’t need to say anything. His actions spoke much louder, letting her know how he felt and what sort of a mood he was in. It was even easier sometimes; just not having to find the words what would make up a reply.

Snow tinted toes reared, and batted at her. Powder sprayed and Mati tried to duck out of their way. Her large body was slow, and with her uneven stature she wasn’t able to maneuver around the blow. They hit her, with just enough force to bring her back to her side. Teeth unlatched from his ear as she attempted to regain her balance and get back to her paws.

She found that the trick was in staying on her feet, bobbing and weaving to avoid any attacks. Though she usually ended up tripping over her own round toes and falling strait on her chin. Mocking his growl she matched it with her own billowing rumble. She kicked snow into his face, a feeble attempt to blind him until she could get back on her paws. All the while her mouth sought out his legs, the closest thing as she swam through the snow with kicking feet.

There was little denying that Mati was much more experience in the world of wrestling than he was. Salem had long been chewed on for a number of things, though he wasn't submissive by inheritance. He tried to stay with Mati every step of the way so that she wouldn't bob and weave like a world class boxer, but it was tricky to do because he lacked the foresight that someone with more experience would have. So needless to say, he didn't expect her to kick snow in his face and when she did, Salem let out a yelp loud enough to wake the dead. He backed off immediately, blinking furiously and shaking his head in a feeble attempt to get the snow off of his face. “Mean trick!” he stated, more childishly than he actually was.

Haven was always a good sparing partner. His agile and lean form was ideal for fighting her bulky frame, so she had learned a lot from their battling. She moved with what she thought was fluid grace, though most likely staggering clumsiness. She couldn’t move the way she wanted to, so her imaginations stepped up and let her fantasy come to life. It was too easy at time to not be true to herself.

His scream startled her, enough that she froze in place. Her eyes focused on his face, checking to see he was truly hurt. Peering into his golden orbs she looked to see if he had something in them, of if he was just faking it. Sorry, but there isn’t such a thing as a clean fight. She gave him a stubborn look, refusing feel to bad for him if he was going to act in such a way. Though inside her heart was reeling, hoping that he was ok.

Huffing in response through the icy sting of the snow in his eyes, Salem cursed his sister's indifference to what she had done. No such thing as a clean fight, then? Well he'd show her! With anger bubbling up in his veins and stealing across his face, he charged right back at Mati to cut down the temporary distance between them. He tucked his head close to his agile frame as he could with every intention to use skull to ram hers, throwing back the pain as best as he could in a way that he felt she would understand just how badly that had felt. If she wanted to play dirty, then he would too. Growling much more seriously, he bored down on her with as much strength as he could pack behind his spur of the moment tactic.

fights!

She was close to laughing at his frustration, but before she had the chance he was coming strait for her. The noises he made were no longer those of play. Her hackles rose in surprise and defense, and she bared her teeth. Still he didn’t heed her warning, and barreled strait into her. His head hit her shoulder as she turned trying to avoid the attack. The thick bone sent her to her side knocking the wind from her chest. Her breath lost she lay dazed, only recovering only after a few long moments she showed him her teeth in a aggressive smile. Her fore leg useless and pulsing with pain she scrambled to regain her balance on the other three. Tears pierced the corners of her eyes, though she would give him the satisfaction. Teeth wielding Mati snapped at his face, hoping to get revenge for her lame leg.

She almost teetered off-balance, but he was reeling from the recoil and unable to finish what he had started. But it had been enough as it was, and he came around just in time to narrowly avoid the snapping jaw and her aggressive little smile with a bob and weave of his own. Another growl rumbled in his chest; his lips curled back to reveal a glimmer of pearly white teeth. He warned her, yet had a feeling it would not stop her. Instinctively he struck again, going once more for the leg that she favoured so, willing to take a little brute force in return if it meant she would learn a lesson. There was no such thing as fighting dirty in his shaping mind, it was all black and white.

The shared smiles, showing each other their teeth through angry faces as they fought. It wasn’t play, or at least Mati didn’t think so and by the sound of Salem it didn’t seem like he was playing either. He came at her, having voided her bite, aiming for her stinging leg. He was smaller, and Mati tried to use that to her advantage. He might be spry, but she as she locked her limbs in place she readied herself.

Teeth hit her already painful limb, but she turned it into power or fuel for her own attack. Her head above his, she swung her neck downward, her small spiked teeth on a fast but steady path to his neck.

_____Spry indeed, but he wasn't entirely built for speed. Mati's teeth met his neck in a move that normally would have signified the end for a proper and dignified fighter, but they were neither. Salem went down because he simply had no other direction to (as this was half an attempt to get loose from her as it was her pushing him down), but not without making sure he had a hold on something of hers, be it skin, fur, bone or all of the above. He clamped down as his shoulder hit the ground roughly, but didn't relent in what he was doing because he didn't expect her to.

Teeth bit skin, and the pup held it in her jaw. The extra flesh they both possessed at the back of their throat, it protected all the essentials that hid beneath it. The moment she felt her daggers hit home her brain was filled with vengeful thoughts and the pain she felt herself a fire. Mati wanted so badly to hurt him, but it was such an out of character need brought her mind back into focus. Though he had hurt her, Mati knew she had been the one to push him.

He bit her again, dragging her own body downward as he fell. The pup let his skin go, her mouth empty she let the cry that had been building out into the air. Ssttopp. Her voice cracked as she attempted to wiggle from him. Only wanting to get away she twisted her neck in attempt to bite the nose of the muzzle the entrapped let another leg of hers.

It was the cracking of her gentle voice that convinced him to let up, though anger still turned up on his face as he lifted his head to look at her squarely. His body was rigid and its language spoke deeply of indifference and dominance, even though as far as things were considered she was well over him in most regards. “You're mean,” he told Mati sharply, “don't be mean.” Salem didn't like to have to hurt her and a part of him was certain that was mutual, but she had been mean. He didn't like having snow kicked in his eyes and it was no secret just how much he hated the snow to begin with. “Okay?” To him, everything was justified in teaching her lesson, though it may have been a more helpful learning aid in Salem's eyes if he could have found some fear or high distaste of her own to expose and aggravate.

should we wrap it up?

Purple eyes glared at him, head turning to face him as he let her go. Her body ached with as the sensation returned to where his teeth had been. This wasn’t how she liked to play, but then the Church girl had indeed started the mess. Of course her brother didn’t need to play so rough, and being smaller and more agile then she, use his advantage against her. A brother was there to protect her, like Haven did, not make her whine and want to run to their mothers. She looked fiercely at him, Fine her voice spat as she found her footing.

They would soon forget the fight, their young minds a constant revolving door of new experience and lessons. The pups would always have something bigger and better to tussle over and most of the time they spent together would be far calmer and kinder then this. But at the very moment, the child found no better words to express her feeling towards him. But then you’re a jerk! Brown paws tumbled beneath her, through snow and ice in hope of finding one of their mothers before he had the chance to tattle on her for such poor language.
