For Endy~!

At long last, winter had arrived. Autumn had done it's duty, stripping many trees of their colorful leaves and slowly preparing the lands for the cold months to come. The frost had already settled into Bleeding Souls, giving one last warning to the creatures that the time had come. The past few weeks had begun the snow season, dusting some of the lands with a light powder and covering other parts with a white blanket. It was snowing now in the pack lands, with winds to accompany it and bring the temperature down even further. Yes, winter was the season where many would remain in their shelters to avoid the harsh climates. And if Kieran was going to be holed up inside the pack caves, he would make the best of it.

He was sure many of his packmates would be spending a fair amount of time inside the cozy community den, so he thought it would be nice to spruce it up a bit. Give it more of a homely feel, perhaps. The male had an idea of decorating the caves, and while it wasn't his forte, he figured he could have some fun with it. So, on a few of his trips to the human city (which were becoming more and more frequent), he scavenged whatever supplies he could find. He had discovered a couple half- and quarter-full buckets of old paint, and managed to gather a couple things to mix up some dyes and brought them back home with decoration in mind. A few other trinkets and handy objects had been packed away into his den for future use. Now seemed as good of a time as any to start this little project. Maybe he would find some others who would take interest in the little event.

Kieran carried the make-shift wooden box containing paints and brushes that were in relatively good condition out to the central cavern. He stopped near the path that led deeper into the caverns and plopped the crate onto the ground against the wall. He glanced around at the large cavern, trying to pick out an ideal place to start. The dark wolf reached down into the box at his feet and pulled out one of the small brushes. Twirling the brush around absent mindedly, he contemplated what he would do now. He had everything he needed; the only thing left was to start. While he had made plans to decorate, he hadn't thought about exactly how he would go about doing it.

you've had to wait too long! i'm very sorry.

That morning, as pale light began to leak in through the entrance to the pack den, Endymion realized something: the place was rather drab. Putting a hand to his chin, the wolf circled about the cavern, brewing ideas. Back in Awenasa, the same short-term member who had taught him to carve told him of a strange human tradition. On December 25th, 'Christmas' he had called it, they decorated an evergreen tree with ornaments and all the like, and put under it gifts wrapped in bright paper. It seemed absolutely strange to the two-year-old, but fun at the same time. So, with an idea in mind, the pirate-son bolted outside in search for an evergreen.
The tree he finally settled upon was a little taller than he was, and had long, spikey branches. He made quick work felling it with the axe he found in the city; this, of course, was inspired by Theo, whom he had met and taken a liking to back in November. With the rope he had luckily thought to take with him, Endymion set home, dragging the tree behind him.
With snow on his face and shoulders, Endymion stumbled tiredly into the cosy den. Dropping the ropes, and letting out a quick 'hoot' of relief, he noticed a dark wolf at the far end of the cavern. "Morning!" he greeted the pack member, showering the floor of the cavern with water droplets as he shook briefly.

No problem. ^_^ This is a rather busy month.

Kieran had settled into digging around his shabby box, making a quick note of what colors and supplies he had at his disposal. He set down his small brush on the floor next to the box and grabbed a bucket of paint out of the batch. Opening the lid, he found that it was half-filled with a red paint. He nodded contently and placed the lid on the ground with a slight clatter.

Before he could continue, a scraping sound from the entrance of the cave caught his attention. The male turned his gaze toward the entrance, catching sight of a wolf dragging a tree, of all things, into the cave. He heard the wolf call out a quick greeting, and he replied with one of his own. “Good morning.” He pushed his painting supplies to the side for a moment, deciding to see what his packmate was up to.

He took a few steps across the large cavern, peering curiously at the tree simply to be sure that it was a tree that had been brought in. The dark wolf then looked at the other, noticing that he hadn’t met him before. He gave a quick nod in greeting to the reddish wolf before looking at the roped up tree once more. “Uh… what’s the tree for?” he asked after a moment.
