Am I standing still?

This was the first thing that she had ever made in her entire life. Siobhan had seen a picture of it in a book that had been inside of the house, and had decided that she was going to try and make one for herself. A swing. She'd had to climb pretty high up into the tree to tie the rope right, but she was able to shift...so it wasn't a problem. The girl was fairly nimble, and had managed to get both ropes secured without much problem. It was finding a good seat that was the hard part. She'd looked all over the place, and had found a couple of things that might work...but she wasn't sure how to attach the rope onto the ends.

She ended up picking a big, thick piece of metal that she had found in the human city-an old part that she had pulled off of the front of a car. It was pretty long, but she thought that it would work. She tied the rope first onto one side of the object and then the other so that it would balance, checking the knots to see if they were strong. The small coyote pushed on the bumper with all of her weight, trying to test it before she'd actually try it out herself, then looked to the base of the tree. She'd brought her teddy bear with her just in case she did get the swing to work so that he might be able to try it, too.

Siobhan grabbed onto one of the ropes, pulling herself up onto the seat. The humans in the pictures had looked like they were having fun, and she wanted to do whatever they were doing with the swing. They'd been in the air...really high up. But how had they gotten that way? She tried moving a little bit, from side to side. Nothing. "Sir Toodles--what is Siobhan doing wrong? She isn't going high! You should come gives her a push!" The teddy didn't move or respond, as usual, though, just looked at her with its beady little eyes. She sighed.

..Sir Toodles..I loves it. XD

Jasper had emerged from the basement of the house quite early that morning, long before the sun had risen and before anyone else in Inferni might have been up and around. He had found that it was the safest time to get himself out of the house and, so long as he stayed hidden in the trees and random brush, that it would be easier for him to stay out. He hadn't chanced leaving the lands since he had arrived, afraid that someone might find him crossing back into the borders and attack him, but his love for cooking had been what persuaded him to leave. He'd been gone for a good portion of the day, rummaging through houses in the human city to collect pots and pans, anything that he could use to cook, packing them all up in a box to carry back to Inferni.

He had been on his way through the trees of Inferni, box in arms, when he heard the quiet racket not all that far away. He set the box aside, telling himself it would only be for a few moments, but when he traveled farther through the trees and caught sight of the creature, all he could do was stand and watch. Jasper had remained silent the whole time that she rustled through the trees, even as she attached the metal strip to the ropes, excited by his own recognition of what she had been doing. He could remember a swing from his childhood, in a place not to far away from where they had lived, held up by rusted chains that were fastened to a thick strip of rubber.

Despite all of that, though, Jasper found himself in a dilemma when her attempts to use the swing had failed. He knew what to do, how to work it, and yet she didn't seem to know. She was small though, didn't seem threatening, even to Jasper, and after a few moments of silent arguing, he stepped out of the trees and toward the female. "P..Push on the ground with your feet." He said finally, nervous and quiet, ready to run at any sign of troubles.

She was settling into Inferni well. Siobhan didn't know about any of the prejudices that had plauged the clan before her arrival there, that the clan had been suspected of horrible things like murder and kidnapping...and she was just fine without that knowledge. Ezekiel had told her that he had never killed anyone in his life when she had asked him, and she believed him. Her own mother had killed someone...her little sister...so if Zeke hadn't done something like that then that meant that he was a good coyote. Better than her mom.

The small female moved a few different ways on the swing, trying to figure it out. She tried standing up on it, hanging onto the ropes with her hands and moving her legs...but that wasn't working either. She'd seen one picture in the book where the humans had been standing on the swing, she'd thought.

A voice came from behind her and she almost fell off, quickly turning around in the swing so that she could see who was talking to her. Ezekiel? No...this creature looked very different. He reminded her of Haven, in a way, with his black ear; Haven had one ear that was completely white. Maybe they were related? "With feet? Siobhan did not think of that...it is a good idea!" If he was here inside Inferni, then he was a member of the clan. She had heard that they did not let others inside...so she felt relatively safe. "Okay. She will try this idea." She climbed down so that her bottom was resting on the metal again. There was one problem ...her feet didn't touch the ground. "Can't. Does not work!"

Jasper was ready to move, to dart away at the first moment that might seem like he needed to. The girl only turned though, to look at him he supposed. He was a stranger, after all. Timid and nervous as he might have been, the way that the girl spoke both intrigued and confused him. Siobhan, he decided, was her name, but why did she talk about herself in such a manner? She was still young, it was obvious, but despite that he had still never heard anyone talk about themselves in such a manner. Whatever the case, it made her seem much less scary than anyone else, even the younger pups that he had met in his lifetime.

Jasper stood his ground, watching as she climbed back down and sat on the swing to attempt his suggestion, which he quickly realized wasn't going to work out so well. "Oh.." He murmured quietly, ears falling back against his head. He'd given only disappointment, like always. Unsure, he stumbled forward a few careful steps, eying the swing and then the young girl on it. "I could..push you..if you want?" He wouldn't go near without her permission, of course, which was why he continued to stand as far back as he was.

She hadn't wanted to ask him that, to make him feel like he should push her. Siobhan often felt compelled to do things for other people just because they asked her to; she felt guilty telling them no. If she could do something for somebody, shouldn't she do it? If she was able to? Some days she was tired and didn't want to do anything at all, though. Those days she tried to tell people no more often.

"You is pushes Siobhan? That is the best idea, she thinks. Yes it is. But...you is strong enough? And not too tired?" She waved her feet back and forth, trying once more to move the swing. "Siobhan saw that the humans did this...she thought that she would try it too. You has seen this before? You...Siobhan does not know your name, what to call you at all!"

She seemed nice enough, Jasper decided, though it was more like deciding that she was safe enough to go near. He moved finally, as she began to speak, making his way toward the odd girl and the swing. "I'm not too tired." He assured her quietly, straying away from remarking on the question of him being strong enough. His father has been strong, not just physically, and Jasper knew that he would never be able to claim strength. Even so, it felt good to think that he might be able to do something useful for once, even if it was just pushing someone on a swing. She'd be happy, he hoped, and he couldn't think of anything that might go horribly wrong. She'd stood and bounced and shaken the swing enough already that he was almost certain that it wouldn't break or fall away from the tree.

"I'm Jasper." He told her quietly, finally stopping when he reached the side of the swing. "Jasper de le Poer." And for a moment, only a brief moment, the young man smiled. "You should hold on so you don't fall off." He told her finally, nodding his head to assure himself that it was the best thing for her. He moved then, from her side, and made his way to the back of the swing, looking for a moment in an attempt to decide what the best way to push her would be. Pulling the ropes each time meant it would snap back and essentially stop her, which really only left actually touching her. "Are you ready?"

Gah. I only have a few minutes to write this >_<

She was curious about Jasper. Many of the coyotes had grew up here, but he didn't really look like the other coyotes. He was different colored and his body looked a little different. Despite her white pelt and her eye color, Siobhan was a full, pure-blooded coyote. She didn't know that most of the members of Inferni weren't actually pure coyotes themselves. "Siobhan likes your name. Where did you come from, Jasper? You's from around here?" she inquired, turning her head to look at him.

She nodded when he gave her the advice to hold on, tightening her grips on the rope. She wasn't sure how high it would go in the air, but she didn't want to fall out anyway. Even a fall from a foot or two would hurt really bad. "Yes. Ready." The girl closed her eyes, waiting.
