After what had seemed years in an endless snow storm, the weather had abated. Though only hours had gone by where Jaded Shadows had been blanketed in a heavy system as it swept towards the ocean, Valentine had almost felt stir-crazy being shut inside of the riddled pack den and its extensive caverns. With the sun just barely starting to pierce through eerie haze that had settled on the frozen landscape, he emerged from the communal den. It was quiet, almost unearthly in the way that the snow muffled the sounds that would have normally been there. Now with only a few flurries left to descend from the sky, he set off in a leisure walk to better explore the confines of the area.

Josiah had been in his den, tidying up and organizing it. It was a nice single’s den just the right size to be cozy without being too small. He’d not had much chance to decorate, but he’d set a deerskin rug down to sleep on for the time being, until he could find some time to get some furniture made. On the walls, to keep he place from being too much of a bore, Josiah had decorated with a few drawings he’d made. One of the ocean and another of a valley of flowers.

The cold outside was hardly welcoming, but it was not in Josiah’s nature to stay in one place for too long, and so he’d ventured away from the comfortable den and out into the flurries that could be found around Jaded Shadows. It was on this leisurely walk that Josiah found himself glancing at a dark colored male. The male seemed friendly enough and Josiah figured it wouldn’t hurt to acquaint himself with more pack members. Making his way towards him, he stopped beside him, smiling cheerfully. ”Hello, friend,” he offered in greeting before adding, ”I am Josiah, who are you?” the male asked, politely waiting for a response.

Out of the white, early morning landscape, he had hardly thought about seeing some sort of mirror image of himself come walking up through the hills. Though they did have their differences, from a distance one may have thought that two dark-haired wolves were related in some sense. Like Valentine, the approaching stranger was tall and broad-shouldered, giving away his gender much quicker than smell could. From the necklace to the tattoo and the sharp blue eyes, his friendly expression was well returned by Valentine, who slowed to greet him as well.

“Good morning to you,” he replied, a lax grin spread across his square muzzle, “I'm Valentine.” Now that the general introductions were out of the way, either one of them could have easily pressed on to conversation, which Valentine had no problem in taking the initiative. “Some crazy snow we had yesterday, wasn't it? The way the wind was blowing out there, it made it seem more like a blizzard!” Luckily for them though, it hadn't been quite that bad. The worst that could have happened was they'd get snowed in a cave for the night, but it was doubtful it would have been any longer than that, since they did have claws. And claws were exceptionally good for digging.
