Catherine had finally found the courage to do it. She didn't feel ready, but she felt eager to, and it was enough to her. Walking slowly to where the smell of the barn was concentrated the most. Finally, when her eyes met the barn, she froze and swallowed air. Suddenly, there were butterflies on her stomach, and her breathing got lost. As she forced an awkward walk toward it once again, the horses got in her sight. It came again, but much more strongly. She admited she was a little... intimidated with horses, but she wouldn't let fear stop her. She never let it, and she wouldn't now. Taking a deep breath, she looked around, after some horse that could catch her attention. There it was. It was a mare, its fur was cream and its mane and tail were chocolate brown. Catherine watched, admirating as it trotted around the fences gracefully. Supporting herself on the fences, she just watched it, forgetting completely why she went there. Its smooth trotting was enchanting her. She felt so perfectly fine. She knew only one person that could make her feel so... well. Leland. She sighed, missing the husky mix. She hoped she could see him again.

All Welcome!

He had promised to see her again, but he hadn’t planned on it being this day, so when he found her at the barn, his very destination he was surprised, and pleased. The day was warmer than most had been, the sun trying it’s hardest to chase away winter’s chill, and Leland was enjoying strolling through the lands. Nearing the barn he had decided, on a whim, to go watch the horses, perhaps see if any of them seemed to like him. Sooner or later he would have to climb atop one, and while he didn’t think it would be today, the red hued husky had to start somewhere.

"Catherine?" His voice was warm, loud, friendly. Laughing jovially at running into her here, recalling their shared fear of the riding the beast, he approached her. Stopping a few feet away he merely grinned at the woman, unsure of how to proceed. Their first and last meeting had a rather awkward but pleasant ending, and he wasn’t sure if that still meant anything or if the warmth that had spread through his body then had just been a fluke. Or perhaps that day meant more in light of Asha’s rejection of Leland’s confession. Now more than ever he was truly free to explore if there was anything more between him and this female.

Leaning against the rail, his arms hanging over lazily, Leland let his bi-colored eyes look at the large beast, grazing on what little grass had managed to not be covered or killed by the snow. Did DaWali supply them with hay inside the barn? Leland had never been in the actual building, but perhaps this day would be a first for many things. Turning back to the silver female he grinned. "So, what er ya up to taday miss?"

Catherine felt like someone had just made her wish come true. His calling, his voice turned her ears up. Looking back, she looked and smiled to her newest friend. The tip of her tail was shacking lightly as he got closer.

"Hey, Leland!" she greeted back to him. It felt so good be near him once again. She remembered when they first met. That proximity, that sudden intimity had been haunting her since. She didn't argue, because she liked it. She was pleased of that.

"Well... Honestly?" she asked him, feeling embarassed for nothing, as it seemed. She streched and rubbed her neck, feeling her long mane. "I was thinking on give a try on... riding... but I don't think I'm really ready." she said, in a tone that looked like when a kid get busted when it is being sneaky. She made a face and giggled nervously at that thought and grimaced to the mare, still running around. She sighed dramatically, as she used to when nervous. She thought hardly to something else to talk about.
"Aah...What about you? What are you doing here? Not wanting to be sneaking in or something, you know." she said, wishing he didn't get bothered with that.

All Welcome!

He offered the female a warm grin and a raised eye, chuckling at her confession of why she was here. Perhaps today would be the day that the both climb atop a horse, perhaps not, either way Leland was sure the day wouldn’t be a waste. Allowing himself to close in the gap between them, he lowered his voice as if confiding in her a great secret. "I kinda had the same idea meself." The copper hued male smiled, looking back over the horses. It was true he had toyed with the idea, but whether he had the courage to follow through with such bold plans was another story all together. He had failed once in front of Asha, unable to ride with her atop her own horse, the idea of trying and backing out in front of Catherine caused the male unhappiness.

Yet, Leland mused looking back to Catherine, in front of this female he was feeling bolder. As if he had something to prove. Perhaps it was just his foolish nature or some sort of masculine instinct to win over the female, but he felt, in the presence of this female, that perhaps it wasn’t as big of a feat as he was making it out to be. Clicking his tongue and getting the attention of one of the horses, the large creature rose it’s head and snorted at the husky, causing great amusement for the dog. "Do ya have a favorite, miss?" There were so many of the horses, every color that they came in and probably every temperament too, Leland wasn’t sure if he would find one to his own liking but he would try.

Catherine laughed once and grinned back at his comment. It looked like they were twin in a twisted kind of way. They had so many things in common, and yet it seemed that they were having the same thoughs. SShe sighed, feeling delighted. It, somehow, made her happy. Such similarities must mean something, though she doesn't have any idea of what.

She looked away from him, smiling faintly to the horses. She only had eyes for the cream mare, which was now lying in the ground, probably tired of trotting around. She really liked this one. It seemed very energetic, but gentil. At least, it didn't trouble with another horse, as some had already. She heard the clicks made by the husky mix at her side and saw the big equine rise its head, and she backed a step, in shock. After a few seconds, seeing it wouldn't attack, she walked that step again. She looked away, embarassed of her unreasonable fear. She always thought that her fear of them was that their were very strong, like her father were.

"Hmm... I guess I liked the most of that creamy mare. There, the one lying in the ground." she said, pointing with the index finger to the horse. She looked at Leland, more precisely in his unmatched eyes. She felt her legs tremble a little, but she couldn't tell why. She blinked, trying to put her thoughts together. "Ahh... And you, which did you liked?" She said, pretending she did not felt that, though her legs were still trembling lightly.

The male snorted cheerfully at Catherine’s reaction to the horse lifting his head at the two of them. However she quickly got over her fright and answered his question. The cream mare. Yes, the horse was lying peacefully, seemingly unconcerned with the rest of the herd. "Yes, she fits ya, I think." And he meant it, the male could see how Catherine could form a bond with the mare. It was different with Asha and her horse, whom she had had for a long while. She didn’t have to build a relationship from scratch with one of these animals. Try to convince them that serving a canine was a good idea, or rather show them why the companionship between equine and canine was a good idea. Leland had no idea how to go about it, but he thought Catherine had made a good choice.

His question was bounced back at him and he shook his head, though his expression was still cheerful. "I don’t know, I’d need ta spend some mer time with ‘em I guess." Mismatched eyes held Catherine’s gaze for a long while, then he grinned widely, scooping up her hand and suddenly feeling very courageous.

"Let’s go meet yer horse!" Of course, if she protested he wouldn’t force the lady, but he hoped she had caught the excitement and spirit that he felt now.

Catherine was beggining to feel as cheerful as her friend. She felt that the mare fited her as well, but was not sure how to create the bond between her and the horse. She smiled and nodded once, confirmating him, but didn't look at him. She was afraid that she would do something stupid, or that her legs would disappear and she would fall. That would be so embarassing. Her legs trembled more, and her tension grew. Her wish to get even closer to the male besides her took control of her, but she restrained herself. How could she want even more intimity. She had met him a few days ago, and she didn't have any excuse. As she tried to control her impulse, ti got harder because of his voice, answering her other question, and his eyes at hers. It nearly burned her inside. She swallowed air, tensed with that pressure, but still envolved by the cheer that the husky mix created around them.

"Yeah, sure." she answered, her fear being instantly forgotten when the thought of doing anything with her friend popped up. She waited for him to go first, pretending to use his acts as a encouragement. She was afraid now, but not that much. The excitement of being near the male was sultring thefear slowly. Her tail flickere lightly in delight, but her legs shook more, now in a way that only a blind folk wouldn't notice. She hoped he would take it as fear, though it wasn't this feeling that was causing it at all.

The female consented and Leland tightened his grip on her hand, as if to indicate she had made the right choice. Letting go of her hand briefly to hoist himself over the wooden fence, he decided that going through the gate would be cost too much time, he quickly took the girl’s hand back up as he helped her over the fence. His hand found the small of her back as he made sure she landed with no harm and grinning once more, he slowly, but steadily, began to guide her towards the cream colored mare. Normally he was more reserved about touching another so freely, especially one of the opposite sex, but Catherine made no protest and it felt so natural. He had often done so, in only a friendly and gentlemanly way for Lela, it made sense to now with Catherine. He couldn’t deny he liked the feel of her flesh against his own.

Nearing the horse he slowed, and then stopped with only a yard between them and the beast. The horse seemed not to notice, or if it did, was not bothered by their presence. Only when Leland whistled softly did the animal look up, whinnying a greeting aimed at the pair. "Well, what now? It’s yer horse, afterall." He couldn’t help but grinned at the girl again, waiting to see if she would take the lead and move them closer to the horse or if her shyness would prevail again. Absently he wondered if one normally took such an interest in the emotion’s of their friends.

Catherine felt the husky mix hold her hand tighter, and she felt her face get hot. Surprise took on her, not knowing what was that feeling. The heat faded as he let go of her hand, but it grew again as he hold it again to help her and even more when he supported her in the small of the back, and pushed her to the horse. She thanked the heavens that her pelt was thick enough to cover her blushing. His touch made her heartbeat increase and her breathing get lighter and quicker. She prayed for him to think that it was just fear, like before. Her tail was now shaking strongly, like her legs, and she couldn't stop those. She swallowed air, and she noticed that they were now in front of the mare, which was still lyed down. The horse looked at her, but she didn't flinch. She was frozen, because both fear and... What is this? She wasn't sure of what it was that feeling, but she could get a hint.

She, somehow, knew that if she didn't move, the male near her would do it for her. Glancing to the male, she saw him grinning, and it was so good to see him with this smile... She smiled back, agreeding with him. She focused on the horse in front of her, and raised her hand, pretending to rub the mare's nose. The mare got up slowly and huffled to her. The grayish female took one step toward it, and another, but wasn't sure if she could go another one. Luckly, the horse fihished the space between the two of the females, and the Luperci's hand touched the mare's soft pelt. A few seconds later, she grabbed the other hand to stroke the beast. She smiled and then looked back to the husky male, like a child that did something wonderful and wanted to show off it to the parents. She was still feeling hesitant, but she felt her fear fade away at once. She moved her hand gently to the equine's neck, astonished with its silky texture. Now very sure if she would still be able to mount it, but laughed. 'It was easy' she thought, intrigated.

Leland was oblivious to the trembling going on within Catherine, the shaking of her legs. Or if he did notice it on some level he wrote it off as excitement, fear. Due to the activities they were doing, not to his presence. He never told of the effect he had on some females, mostly due to the fact it had been a long time since Lela that anyone had felt anything back for him. Like most men, he was often blind to a women’s body language, or the secret meaning of their spoken words, and that ability of his seemed to be on full tilt. He had liked Asha, had told her so, and had even thought she felt something for him back. Yet he was heartbroken over her now, she had rejected him.

Now there was Catherine. He liked her, and could grow to love her maybe, even someday, but he would not make the mistake he had made with Asha. Could not tell her, by rather would just stick around, be friends, and see what was what. He had bounced back after Lela had turned him away, but now with Asha’s rejection so fresh, the red hued husky was anything but confident. He envied Catherine as she moved towards the horse, reaching out and stroking it’s neck. She was brave, conquering one of her own fears.
"She likes ya." Leland smiled and took a step towards the horse as well, reaching out but never touching her, for the horse whinnied and shied away from the male’s touch. Sheepishly he turned to Catherine, shrugging. "Guess it’s ya and not me she’s after, huh?"

Catherine was flooding with joy of conquering her silly fear. It was silly because she never had an explanation for it. Her gaze at the husky mix was making her joy almost uncontrolable. It always felt like that when she did something new, tried different things, discovered she could do something. It felt so good and just encouraged her cheerful, happy personality. Sometimes, even stupid of her to be so happy with such small things. Watching a tiny ladybug strooling calmly at a green leaf made her giggle in content.

She saw the male meet the both females, but one of them rejected his stroke. She laughed once, ironically. Yes, he was right. It was affection at fisrt sight between the grayish wolfess and the creamy mare. She looked in the chocolate brown, big eyes of the equine, almost seeing through them. The horse really liked her, by the retributed look she gave to the female Luperci.

"Indeed it is.", she agree. She glanced at the male, to the horse and then to the ground, supporting her forehead in the horse's, which didn't reluct the proximity. Wondering if she should try it, she frowned, and then sighed. "I guess..." she started to speak, but didn't finish. Glancing with determination to the male, she circled the horse and propped her hands on the horse's back, but hesitated. The seconds passed, and her courage boiled inside her chest, blowing up in the strengh she used to pull herself up. It was as easy as reaching to the equine, touching it. She sat on its back and froze, noticing the height was higher from there than from the ground. She swallowed air, thinking of the damage it would make for her if she falls. Blinking twice to come back to herself, she straightened her body on the horse's, sitting with each legs in one side, her front toward the head of the creature. There wasn't somewhere for her hands to hold and to direct the animal. Maybe she should have planned that before... The trouble was already fixed, so there was nothing to do. The grayish woman held the mane of the mare, sheepishly, a little hesitant.

As the seconds passed by, she noticed the beast was completely calm, as if it was normal. It wasn't what she thought it would be. A big smile appeared in her face, not sheepish, but joyish. Now staring at the red hued husky, she felt her eyes glittering with excitement. She was still shaking; not that strongly, only lightly because of the presence of the male. Not sure what to do next, she bit her lower lip. "Aah... What am I supposed to do now?" she asked, completely embarassed with such bad planning. First the reins, now the lack of knowledge about riding. 'Stupid...!' she thought, irritated with herself.

This is done aye?

"Ride her." It was the only answer Leland could think to give Catherine. What was she suppose to do? Atop the horse, she looked like she belonged there. It seemed almost a part of her, Leland marveled at how very natural she looked. How pretty she looked. Leland stepped further away, giving the horse more room to move about, but staying close enough to dash in incase Catherine lost her balance and took a tumble. He’d be there to catch her, it’s where he wanted to be. Once it became evident enough Catherine wasn’t going to fall from the horse, Leland moved away and settled himself on the ground, watching the two of them. He was filled with contentment, it had been a good day, and it would only get better spending it with Catherine. He’d watch her ride the horse for as long as she liked. He didn’t mind one bit.
