They don't tell you what to say
when your whole life has gone to hell.

She was still very young, so Ryan had to be ever conscious about that and care for Valkyrie with a close eye. But the little girl had adventure shining in her small blue eyes and Ryan couldn’t deny her that anymore. Traveling outside the den only sufficed for so long. And so Ryan decided to take Valkyrie to the place where Ryan had buried her twin sister. She wouldn’t speak about the pup that had never taken a breath, but they would be able to share a moment with her and look upon the sun rise.

She made a small jacket for Valkyrie, sewing it in practically no time at all. It probably didn’t do much and it was mostly just Ryan being too protective, but she figured it wouldn’t hurt. The weather was still cool and she constantly worried about the little girl. They set off when the sky was still dark, which made Ryan slightly uneasy, but they weren’t traveling too far from Inferni’s borders. She didn’t expect to be bothered by anyone.

The two trailed their way towards the beach, and took a seat upon the soft stones. "It shouldn’t be too long," she told Valkyrie who responded with a beaming smile. The little girl had the eager urge to run off and explore, but Ryan kept her grounded. They would watch the sun rise, and then she would let the pup run around for a bit; but not until the sky was lit. The dark was too dangerous still.

Her travels could be described as something akin to a suicide wish, every paw step she took brought her closer and closer to the Inferni border’s, where she knew many of her personal enemies awaited her. Ril’o had brightened her spirits considerably, when she had been with him, but she still had seen neither Sankor or Alexey and being at odds with them still meant she was at odds with her very home and family. It was far too unnerving to Ade, and when she was unable to find the cheerful male once more to distract herself she had left the pack lands without a second thought heading east. Not even when she realized just where she was headed did she slow, but some masochistic tick in her brain instead cause her pace to increase.

The coffee and chocolate colored female never made it quite to the borders, instead halting at a familiar sight and scent. They had never even exchanged names, but Adelaida remembered the Inferni female all the same, it had been a sunset the last time they met. Strangely now they would witness the sunrise together. Fate always seemed to mock the nervous females with it’s little coincidences. There was another with the female this time though, and Adelaida calculated the time between then and now and realized that enough time had truly passed seed and egg to join and grow into such a child. The words she had flung at Firefly surfaced and her stomach balled itself into a knot, imagining a bloody mess and misshapen bodies instead of the pup she saw now. Weakly, keeping her distance knowing that new mothers were more unpredictable than the average coyote, Adelaida called out. "Hello?"

The sky was beginning to lighten slightly, yet the sun still hadn’t risen over the horizon. There was a sense of anticipation that Ryan had never felt before. Perhaps it was because she was going to share this experience with her daughter, and it was something the little girl had yet to experience. It was such a gorgeous sight, and Ryan hoped to fill the Inferni’s girl head with all the beauties of the world before she grew older and discovered that the world also held many dark and ugly things.

She began to feel at ease, as if the beauty of the area was seeping into her bones. She hugged Valkyrie closer to her, and felt the little girl wiggle in anticipation. Ryan silently wished that maybe DaVinci could have been there too; all three as a family they would never be.

The voice that permeated the air sent a chill down her spine. Though she didn’t recognize it at the moment, she knew it couldn’t be someone from Inferni. There was a scent on the wind that was not from home. Instead, Ryan sent her crimson gaze searching and located the owner of the call. A wolf, of course. She hugged Valkyrie closer, studying the silhouette in the darkness. Without the sun above the horizon, it was hard to make out many details. Though the call wasn’t threatening, Ryan wouldn’t let her guard up just yet. "Good morning," she called back, curious to see what would occur next. Valkyrie squirmed beneath Ryan’s hug, whining, "Mumma!", and Ryan realized now that perhaps her grip had become slightly hermetic.

It may not seem so but Ade is getting much better about her biases! XD

The sun was in her favor and the coyote had yet to make out just who was calling out to her. Adelaida then realized it was not too late to turn back and flee, leaving the female with just another unsettling and strange encounter. Yet Adeladia also realized that was no how she wanted this one to end. Coyotes were still untrustworthy, vile creatures– they always would be. Perhaps though, Adelaida was coming to believe this more and more, there were exceptions to the rules. Ril’o and Mew were Luperci, and while that was certainly undesirable, they were both kind and caring, providing her companionship and compassion when Sankor and Alexey had failed her. And she too, though she did not like to verbally admit this still she had mentally accepted it, was a Luperci. She had not chosen this, just as the others had not chosen to be coyote, luperci or both. This did not automatically make one horrible, even if it raised the likeliness greatly.

Swallowing hard and stepping forward, making sure now she came close enough for the female to see her clearly but far enough away to have a head start if the female responded negatively, Adelaida cleared her throat. "Good morning." And then she was at a loss for what to say. They didn’t even know each other’s names, and remembering the last encounter Adelaida suddenly felt foolish and confused. Completely unsure of why she had come this way and how come she had run the other way yet. "W-what’s her name?" Brilliantly bright blue eyes fell on the child, and Adelaida managed a genuine smile.

Sorry for making you wait practically a month long! D:[html]

Ryan waited, hesitating, while she kept her arms wrapped firmly around her daughter’s tiny frame. The girl wiggled, of course, not wanting to be restrained, but Ryan still wasn’t keen on taking many chances. The darkness unsettled her, especially when she knew for certain a stranger was nearby. And then, the moment of truth. The woman stepped closer, entering the light a bit more and Ryan was able to distinguish between her features. Memories flooded back and Ryan couldn’t help but find a frown growing along her muzzle. Though clearly thinking of their last encounter, Ryan usually was one to give second chances. She would see how things would go…

"This is Valkyrie," she responded, give one tight squeeze of affection before she let the girl out of her arms. Valkyrie turn to the stranger and offered a rather cute, "Hello." Her lightly blue colored eyes twinkled in the dawn light, and it made Ryan wonder again what color they would eventually come to be. "And I’m Ryan de le Poer," she introduced herself. She knew her last name carried a negative connotation in most instances, but she didn’t care. This woman could take her as she was, or leave them in peace.

It’s okay ^^

"I’m Adelaida." The name Koios did not carry much weight to those whose families had come from over the mountain, and so Adelaida did not offer it. Their family had always been small at any rate, the pups of Koios females normally took on their father’s surname if any, so the name did not get passed along as much as some. Surnames never meant much before the fire anyway, at least not to Adelaida. The lands had been far less populated before, who she still considered invaders in her homeland, and last names were less needed to keep families linked. As such, the de le Poers were unheard of to Adelaida, and it wouldn’t have made much of a difference to Ade, most coyotes were all the same.

Eyes flitted over mother and child, but they focused mainly on the child as she spoke. "It’s nice to meet you. " Looking back up into the women’s eyes, Adelaida felt herself tense as she slipped into awkward silence. Again she questioned her own motives in attempting this conversation but something inside of her pushed forward. The mocha female grasped at words, trying to keep the other at ease and interested, and knowing she did not succeed well. "H-how’ve you been…?" She made no mention of their last encounter, asking after her well-being as if they’ve been friends all along. She prayed Ryan wouldn’t call her out on it.

Valkyrie just offered a toothy grin in response, as Ryan hesitated and waited to see if the woman would reveal her purpose. No, not woman.. Adelaida. She had shared her name, so now Ryan would make a mental note of it, and use it. She couldn’t help but chuckle softly at Adelaida’s question, but she nodded anyhow, saying "I’ve been alright." It had been many months since their last encounter, but Ryan remembered it well.

"Would you like to join us?" She asked, raising a hand to gesture her to come sit. It wouldn’t be long before the sun rose, and she didn’t want Valkyrie to miss if because of some petty conversation. However, that wasn’t to say she wouldn’t enjoy talking to the wolf if she wanted, but her daughter came first.

Adelaida would have blushed at the chuckle of the other, had fur not covered her face. She knew it had been a stupid thing to ask, but she couldn’t think of anything better. All at once she felt like a child again, telling Fyodor the wrong answer to a question and hearing his deep, warm laughter. When she compared this coyote to her father, somehow she did not mind if the lady laughed at her. Even if today’s meeting escalated again, she wouldn’t have to see the female again. Wouldn’t have to remember any of it, if she chose not to.

"Yes, I’d love to." Her voice came out surprisingly confident, especially considering Adelaida didn’t love spending time with coyotes. Yet she did not mind it, just then. Hesitantly Adelaida took a spot, not too close but close enough to be viewed as part of the group. Settling in she kept silent, letting the mother and child have their moment. She would speak when spoken to, if she was the first one again to try at conversation she’d probably fallflat on her face once more.

Ryan was pleasantly surprised when Adelaida decided to sit down on the shore with mother and daughter. The sky was beginning to lighten along the horizon, and Ryan was sure if would only be a matter of moments before the burning ball broke over the water. She pointed towards the horizon, telling Valkyrie, "Keep your eyes there." The little girl squirmed slightly, but she had her attention focused where Ryan had pointed out. Ryan turned her gaze to Adelaida then, offering a warm smile. "It’s her first sunset," she explained, before a small squeak interrupted her. "Momma!" Ryan turned the crimson gaze towards her daughter, who was staring intently at the horizon, before turning to catch the first glimpses of the sun breaking over the sparkling water.

Adelaida offered a smile to the mother who was sharing something special with her child. Although the woman had invited her to join them, Adelaida felt like an intruder just then. A peeping tom even. Watching something that should have been pure and beautiful and deriving something more dirty from it. Adelaida couldn’t remember her first sunrise, her first sunset, or ever looking at either with her parents or siblings though she knew she had. It just had never been so organized, never so on purpose. Still she was here and she would make the best of it. When the sun finally did peek over the horizon and the girl squeaked out her excitement Adelaida got a fresh burst of confidence. Maybe she could make conversation. Maybe she wasn’t socially inept. "Whose her father? Is he from Inferni too?" Or maybe she was.
