new kid on the block

She had only just been accepted into Phoenix Valley, but as she delved deeper into the pack's territory, Elain fell in love with their scent. The scent of her pack. The scent of brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers. The scent of her new family.

Ever since her change had forced her from her own pack, she had been searching for acceptance. Despite her previously unremarkable life, she had been fairly stable in the scheme of things, and she had been included. It was the loss of this intimacy that scared her most. It scared her more than running into him again. However, even that fear dropped as she walked forward; into her future, her new life, and the pack lands.

Birds chirruped happily around her as she trotted in her lupus form. After her meeting with Jefferson and her transformation, she had remained in her luperci form for the majority of her trek towards the pack. Her senses were sharper that way, and she had used them to ascertain the location of the wolves easier. Once she had grown closer to their local, her normal nose would handle it. Fluffy cotton candy clouds drifted lazily through the sky as the sun beat down, causing today to be one of those late winter days of warmth. Soon flowers would be poking their multicolored heads through the snow, filling the prarie type lands.

Once there, she would pluck them and plait them into her blonde hair. Elain had to admit, she was growing to be more and more fond of her luperci form. She loved being able to manipulate things with her hands, to pick things up and use them. But most of all, she loved her hair. As vain as it seemed, she honestly treasured it. As a normal wolf she was unimpressive both in body and personality, but the blonde hair she could change to set her apart. She had even seen luperci that had dyed theirs in unique colors. Then again, she had seen many luperci that chose that form for almost all of their activities and had assimilated into a more human lifestyle for their everyday lives.

Regardless of if she chose to change her hair color in the future, she wouldn't change her lifestyle. She loved being in a pack and sharing that love and intimacy with so many close friends. Friends. Her heart leapt as she began to wonder about the make up of the pack. One day soon she might even have friends... and from there, who knew? Elain might even find a mate and live a parallel version to the life she had once dreamt of.

DaVinci had been standing on the deck of his house overlooking one of the mirror lakes. He had spent the afternoon wandering the lake and thinking on his two grown children who had moved off to visit their mother in distant lands. He hummed softly to himself as he slowly sipped away at a cup of bourbon. The subleader of Phoenix Valley didn't mind the cold, the alcohol in his hand was doing a good enough job of convincing him that it was warm enough. He would have spent the evening watching the flurries dancing on the breeze and the sun as it descended behind the trees but instead it seemed that he was going to be interrupted.

The male lifted his head as the scent of another caught his attention. He set the cup down on the deck's rail as he walked around the wrap around porch and stood at the front of his home, catching brief flashes of the stranger as she moved closer and closer towards the house he'd claimed as his own. The steele hued male didn't know the scent of the stranger but he assumed she was probably another new member but as one of the leaders of the lands he figured that he might as well investigate and make certain he was correct.

Stepping down the stairs he walked forward to meet the woman who was prancing along in the lands. His voice cut through the song of the woods as he called out to the newcomer. "Hello?" he frowned to himself as he picked up his pace until he could see her features more clearly, the flash of her pelt once more between the trees as he leaned back against a pine and waited, hoping she wasn't about to turn around and make a dash for the borders.

ooc: Sorry it took so long and is so short. Forgive me!

She felt lighter than air feeling the wind on her face as she trotted, running quietly through the underbrush. Meaningless thoughts filled her head, pushing the not-so-happy ones away as she moved, relishing the feel of her muscles moving and her claws digging into the dirt for purchase.

It was about this time that the voice broke her self-imposed silence. Hello? The tone didn't seem angry or inquisitive; it seemed very neutral, just ascertaining. Male, and from his scent, definately of the pack. Elain turned to face him, her tawny fur shining in the sunlight. the birds had silenced themselves at his voice, and as she spoke, they fluttered away, seemingly upset at their presence.

Hello? I'm Elain. She didn't know how much of an introduction was needed, nor how much rank this individual held , if any. Fearing rebuke otherwise, she lowered her ears and stance to seem more submissive. In truth, she was very submissive, but she felt herself changing with the days as she enjoyed her freedom--and now acceptance.

DaVinci didn't care much for the silly flight of the twitterbrained birds as they called the alarm before disappearing further into the woods. His stormy orbs watched the woman as she paused a second before introducing herself. He nodded slightly, realizing that indeed she was one of the newcomers that had recently been accepted into the lands. He spoke softly as he asked, "New to the pack?" he asked for confirmation, though by the way she had almost fallen into submission it was easy to tell.

He ran a hand through his silvery wavy curls as he looked away from her to the lands that surrounded them as he grinned slightly and asked. "Exploring our growing territory?" the question was simple to answer, if she wasn't of the pack atleast he would know in minutes and be able to usher her ass right back to the border or if she belonged then he'd find out how much she'd already explored and who she'd met. He doubted that she'd ran into few good characters in their lands, everyone seemed to hold some sour edge or dark little secret.. atleast the few he really knew.

The pack was growing everyday and that was probably likely to change soon. He sure hoped so, he was growing tired of seeing the same old personalities around.. or maybe he was just growing tired of the endless winter. One way or another he was ready for some change.
