For Garnet (with apologies for the wait XD)

pushitinIt was getting dark, the sun had fallen below the horizon and the moon was slowly rising, throwing cold light onto the snow covered 'souls lands. The land was fairly quiet, the small animals that lived there were already sneaking back to their homes, the chilled winter weather being too much for their small bodies. Though the still of the evening was broken every now and again by soft thuds as snow fell from the roof of Haven manor and the overburdened tree branches onto the frozen ground below, a sign of the large amount of snow fall there had been all day. The snow was still falling even now, though the flakes were much smaller than they had been, it seemed to be slowing, the small flakes catching in the breeze and dancing arounf one another in their fall to the ground.

pushitinSoran paused in her walking to shake the snow from her obsidian fur, she mused over how ridiculous she must look at the moment, her dark fur spotted with flecks of white, she wondered if she looked more like the old lady that she was becoming, her muzzle was not yet silvered with her five years, but tonight it appeared to be so, the cold flakes of snow clinging to her fur. She shook again, sending snow flakes flurrying away from her wildly. Once she was satisfied that she was no longer a snow monster the lady continued her rapid walk back up towards the house in which she lived. She was walking so quickly because she didn't want the heavy leather-bound books that she was carrying in her arms to be ruined with the wet flakes of snow, she was carrying them back to show her grandchildren and didn't want to have to present them with a mass of crumpled sodden pages each. Her canvas bag was laden with the books as well, a pair of especially heavy books, the other two she was forced to carry, unable to find room for them in her satchel and so she rushed through the snow, her head bowed, hoping that they would survive the journey back to the house. It was funny, the ebony lady had all but forgotten about teaching the pups to read, teaching them all that she had known, but seeing Brooklyn today had rekindled her passion for the idea, and so she had gone and fetched some of her favourite books from where she had left them many weeks ago, hidden in an abandoned rabbit burrow. The ebony lady was excited by the idea of showing them to her grandchildren, she hoped that they enjoyed them as much as she did, she also secretly hoped that Naniko and Anu had not gotten around to teaching them to read yet, she had so enjoyed teaching Conri when he was small, she hoped that she would be able to teach them at least something that she knew. But if not she supposed that she would simply enjoy sharing the activity with them. And so the dark fae, head bowed as low as she could to protect the books from some of the snow, continued padding quickly towards the mansion.

Garnet looked up at the setting sun, watching the bright yellows turn orange and then deep red. The color of blood just barely touched the tree-tops and reflected in her gore hued eyes. The coyote absentmindedly placed a hand over her stomach, sighing softly. She had reason to believe that she was pregnant. The signs were there; the early sickness, the hunger, the now noticeable baby-bump. A soft smile came to her lips as she thought about Jazper and his child that she now carried. The black lady stood up, brushing some of the snow from her coat. Would giving birth hurt? Garnet had heard about others who had had pups, but she had never witnessed one. She might have if only her mother, Asphyxia, hadn’t disappeared. Another sigh formed vapor in the cold air as she walked back towards the mansion. The only really bad thing she found, so far, with the pregnancy was that she could no longer shift into her lupus form. All in all, the coyote was still, in a way, a country girl. She liked Jaz enough to share his bed, but that didn’t mean she liked to sleep in beds in general. Even though it was cold, the outdoors, the forest always called to her.

Garnet looked up, suddenly noticing movement against the snow. The wet flakes drifted down on another she-wolf who was plodding along with some sort of bag. Red eyes flashed with curiosity as the coyote began to walk towards the other, calling out. ”Hey! Nice weather we’re having, eh?” A smile came to her face as she moved closer and recognized the other as Soran, a she-wolf who had the same rank as her.
