Finally the Aatte boy had gotten to go to a place that he had been wanting to for almost his whole life: the city. It wasn't quite as majestic as he had imagined it in his mind, but it wasn't disappointing either. Tall buildings soared into the sky like massive trees with no limbs. A few times he almost fell over from looking so high up. He hadn't gone inside any of them, not yet at least. Instead he was just walking one of the main streets of Halifax, taking in all there was to see. Crumbled concrete lay scattered across the roads and alleys. Wind howled through the broken windows high above. It almost sounded like some huge moaning creature. That idea brought a smirk to his face.

Finally one shop caught the corner of his eye and he couldn't just pass it by without taking a closer look. What looked like hundreds of tiny little glints came from the dingy window and Haven wiped away the dust with one hand to peer inside. They were little metal rings! Some silver some black and some gold. The young luperci walked inside (the door was long gone) and gently picked up one of the tiny things. He hadn't seen many wolves with piercings, but his uncle had them and so had Apollo (though Apollo's were bigger and round). Staring at the little gold ring he thought of how it would look dangling from one of his own ears. It would look pretty cool.

Grasping the small metal loop in his hand he exited the store and walked a bit further right to the edge of the city. The scent of a pack wafted to him on the air and he realized that it must be Phoenix Valley. Hey, DaVinci had piercings so he could give Haven one, right? Besides, it had been months since he had seen his uncle. Smiling, he approached the borders, tail waving behind him.

DaVinci had been quite lax on border patrol lately, his own world seeming to belong to some emotions he'd thought he'd left far behind him, but lately they'd reared their heads up to cause quite a bit of trouble for the male and he'd kept to himself for the better part of the moon. The packmembers had managed to find him still when he'd kept inside the packlands so he finally had figured that if he was going to stay within the lands even if he was trying to work out his own troubles he might as well keep up appearances.

He sighed as he walked towards the borders, thinking that perhaps if they pack saw him, they'd leave him the hell alone. Some he didn't mind so much but the ones that were seeking him out for advice and to learn about the past their pack held was too much for the male. The pack was his family and the loss of his mother weighed greatly upon him. It didn't seem to want to go away with the fresh wash of saltwater the pack seemed to think was needed to pour into his wounds by wanting to dig deeper into who she was and how she'd helped to make Phoenix Valley. He didn't want to admit it either, but he really missed his kids and Zana. Having the small ones underfoot had kept him busy and for the most part had kept his own emotions and worries at bay. Who could worry about themselves when there were children to worry about first.

The male's paws brought him at a stroll along the border as a strangely familiar scent drifted from the city. Haven. The hybrid male lifted his head and turned towards the path that lead towards their lands. He was wondering just what one of his sister's kids was doing out this far but he stopped as he realized that they weren't tiny pups anymore and it was probably about time they learn the territories. He grinned to himself and remembered that his son had befriended his cousin that day he'd been off along the edge of Crimson Dreams. He really regretted not getting to see more of the boy but it seemed he was in luck today as the harvest hued boy made his way along the edge of their lands.

"Straying far from home?" he asked with a warm smile as he realized how much Haven had grown since he'd seen him last. DaVinci's heart sank as he realized he'd never even really had a chance to meet the rest of Haven's siblings but he pushed that aside as he made plans to do it whenever he got a chance.

He had been hoping that his uncle and cousin might stop by Crimson Dreams again, but he hadn't been that lucky. The Aatte youth hadn't even noticed how long it had been since seeing the steel colored man until he was on the doorstep of his pack. As much as he had wanted to visit Phoenix Valley before it would have been a long trip for him. Maybe that really wasn't much of an excuse though. The trip here probably wasn't any longer than the one to Inferni. Man, that made him feel guilty. But at least he was here now, right? Even if it had been unplanned.

When the form of the older male came into sight Haven's lips broke into a wide grin and his tail swept at the back of his legs. "Almost always," he joked with a laugh. Especially lately the boy had been often absent from his home. The tension he could feel mounting there made him uncomfortable and after he had shifted that first night he hadn't wanted the problems back home ruin his good mood. He was suddenly seeing the world from a whole new perspective and he didn't want it tarnished so quickly.

Without another thought he wrapped his arms around his uncle in a quick tight hug. "How have you been? How's Ty?" he asked when he pulled away to look at DaVinci again. He looked well enough. Maybe a bit tired though. Absentmindedly he spun the earring in between his fingers. Every minute made him a bit more dexterous in his new body.

DaVinci was impressed to see his young nephew up and in his luperci form. He didn't have very fond memories of the first time he'd shifted.. and it had taken him a long time afterwards to even believe that he'd wanted to shift after that. Now it seemed that it was a much needed way of life at times and helpful. He still could remember the darker days lurking in the back of his mind but he really didn't want to think that far back.. his life had taken on a lighter tone since then and walking down memory lane wasn't his favorite thing to do, no mater the memory at had. He had very few good ones that didn't trail off to some sadder note.

Seeing Haven made him miss his two children even more, another hollow aching in his heart that he couldn't fill and though he'd never expected to have to learn to be a father so soon he didn't regret a moment of it. He smiled at Haven's little joke and pushed his own worries and thoughts aside as he wrapped his arms around the small guy before letting him go as Haven piped up with a small series of questions.

DaVinci frowned slightly as he ran a hand through his hair. "It's been a hard winter but most of the pack has faired well. Your grandmother passed away not long ago.." he said, pausing a moment at the feelings that tried to surface as he shook his head and went on. "Ty and Skylar went to visit their mother down south but I'm hoping come spring they'll be making it back here again." The pack seemed very lonely with the lack of his two children chasing one another across the lands and throwing a bit of noise into the wake of the otherwise peaceful world of Phoenix Valley. He really did hope that soon they would come home.

The movement between the pumpkin hued boy's fingers and a flash of light caught DaVinci's attention suddenly as he asked, "What you got there?" Seeing how the boy seemed to have come from Halifax lords knew what he'd picked up along the way, but DaVinci himself knew the place was filled with treasures of all types.

The sudden change in his uncle's demeanor worried him. Luckily he didn't have to wait long to hear what had happened. Bi-colored ears drooped at the news. His grandmother? Surely he didn't mean Soran. She was a part of Crimson Dreams and while he hadn't seen her around lately surely he would have heard that news at home not here. He knew that he would have more than one grandmother but the Aatte one was the only one he had met. "Wow...I'm sorry DaVinci..." His free hand went to scratch behind his neck. "I never got to meet her..." It felt weird, loosing a family member he had never even seen.

The boy was a little disappointed to hear that his cousins weren't around. He had wanted to see Ty again and finally meet Skylar. "Oh I see. I hope you're right. I'd love to see Ty again and I still need to meet Skylar." No wonder the steel man wasn't in the best spirits. He'd lost his mother and his kids were away. That would throw anybody off-center. "You hangin' in there okay?" It might have been a stupid question, but he felt it needed to be asked. Maybe there was something he could do to cheer DaVinci up.

But his attention was thrown back to the metal in between his fingers. "Oh! This..." Haven held up the earring so his uncle could see. "I just found it in the city. I've been thinkin' and I'd like to have one like you do," he said with a grin. "I thought maybe since you had some that you'd know how to do it and could put it in my ear." Maybe someone else had done them for the older hybrid and he didn't know how to, but it couldn't be that hard to figure out, could it?

DaVinci didn't mean to put his problems out in the open and push them onto the younger boy and he almost regretted even bringing it up as soon as the words were out of his maw. He shook his head sadly as the boy reminded him that he didn't even known the woman, it was sad, the Matriarch of the family had had so many plans and wishes and yet she'd never had a chance to see a single one out. "The whole family was to get together come spring.." he admitted, but it was no use now, the woman wouldn't get to see the grandchildren or even show off her own litter, two having died before getting a chance to know the world and the last absorbed into a clan that hated them all. DaVinci ruffled Haven's mane as he sighed. "Things will mend though.." He wasn't for certain if he really believed it, but it was a nice thought.

He pushed the negative thought aside and smiled down at Haven as he seemed to turn the conversation to DaVinci's own well being, To be honest DaVinci knew he wasn't doing well at all but he didn't focus on that for the most part. The male was often caught brooding over things and a raincloud did seem to linger on his horizon at all times but in the end he was as well as he would ever be. "I'm managing.." he said truthfully, his manners of managing might not have been acceptable or liked by many but it was DaVinci's way and no one had been hurt... that he could recall.

He eyed the small band that Haven held up, a brow raised as he presented the idea to the strange hued Savant. DaVinci couldn't help but let a chuckle escape his lips as he muttered. "Oh.. Naniko would have my hide.." He'd caused the woman enough restless nights when he was younger, yet the devilish imp that lurked within still egged him on to do as the child asked, it wasn't like it would do any big harm, outside of the piercing itself. "You sure about this?" he asked as he picked the earring from the boy's hand and granted him a grin.

Man, that was all so sad. He wished he would have gotten the chance to meet her and know her. Even though they had never met he could feel a small part gone from his world. A family get-together would have been so nice too. He had no doubt that there were many family members that he hadn't met yet. Having them all get together would be a blast. "Well...maybe we still could? In her memory, ya know?" Maybe that idea would be too painful to think about, but it had the possibility to help heal as well. "Does mom know?" The kid had a feeling she didn't or she would have said something. A grin took his face again as DaVinci tussled his mane though.

He could tell that there was a lot of pain and conflict behind his uncle's stormy eyes. But he also understood that sometimes you just had to deal with stuff on your own. Respecting his privacy was probably the best thing he could do for him right now. "Well good. Guess I'll just have to come check up on ya more often then, yeah?" From the first time they had met he had felt a certain connection with DaVinci. Now that he was older and the weather was better he wanted to be able to see the man more.

Disappointment passed over the pumpkin hued boy's face as it seemed that his request was going to be denied. But soon that vanished and was replaced by a toothy grin. "Yeah I'm sure. Wouldn't ask if I wasn't." Haven was the type to live in the here and now. He wanted this and he thought it would be fun, so why not do it? Besides, he didn't see why either of his mothers would be upset about it. It was just a ring through his ear, what did that matter?

DaVinci couldn't help but smile at the suggestion that the boy had made, it was a sad smile, but a true one still the same. He didn't know if it would truly work, gathering their relatives together all in one place. He knew that not everyone of them were the best of friends but they could always give it a try and see who showed. "Well kiddo, we could always try..." He knew that if his children were back that he would do everything possible to get the kids together, he still wanted a chance to get to know the rest of Nani's brood anyways.

He couldn't help but sigh as Haven turned the questions towards Naniko and just how much she knew of the tragic news. He nodded slowly as he responded. "She found out just a few days past.." He really had been surprised when the ivory cream form of his sister had shown up on the beach and he'd wished that he'd had better news to greet the woman with than what he had. Though he knew that his mother was by no means truly Naniko's blood she had meant something to the leader of Crimson Dreams, just like in time she'd grown on DaVinci as well. The news had been spread though and the time of healing was at hand though, there was little else that could be done, but perhaps just the fact of the family being together and keeping intouch was enough.

Like all men Haven seemed to know just the words to say to press back the pain and truth of what DaVinci was feeling but still make a point of informing him that he'd be on the lookout for his wellbeing. DaVinci kindof like the idea of the pintsized guardian and he just chuckled. "I'll hold you to that you know Haven?" He winked as he let his hand drop from Haven's hair as he examined the ring once more, making a mental list of what he'd need to get to do the job just right. He didn't want Naniko hounding him if he had let the piercing get infected, not like she didn't know what to do if it did though.

He smiled down at the boy as he realized that Haven hadn't realized just yet that he was going to give the boy what he wanted. He knew anyways that if it did become such a problem the ring could be removed quite easily. DaVinci handed the ring back to the boy as he replied. "Well, let's do this right then. Co'mon." DaVinci cocked his head towards the deeper parts of Phoenix Valley, knowing that the items he'd need were close enough at hand either at the farmstead or even Iskata's old cottage and it would give Haven a chance to see the lands as well. DaVinci started off down the red dirt road as he remarked. "Just gotta get a few things.."

The boy was glad to see that DaVinci thought that the family gathering could still happen. The more he thought about the idea the more he liked it. He was pretty sure that none of his siblings had met their hybrid uncle or their cousins. If Sky and Ty came back for the summer it would be perfect. They all could play and get to know each other. It then occurred to him that by that time all of them would almost be full grown adults. That didn't mean they couldn't still play, but it would be a different sort of play than would have taken place a month or so ago. Suddenly he felt that his childhood had flown by, even though he wasn't quite a grown up yet. How strange.

Oh. So his mother did know. Maybe that was part of the explanation of the strain he had been feeling at home. Still, he felt there was more to it than that. It was that "more" that made him uneasy and was one of the reasons he had stayed from the packlands for so long. Longer than he ever had before. "Oh, I see." Part of him was glad that he wouldn't have to deliver the news himself, but another part felt guilty for being so long absent after her learning such news. She was probably having a hard time and he wasn't there for her. He resolved after this visit he would return home.

Haven smiled broadly at his uncle as he chuckled at his comment. It made him feel good that he'd been able to make the man laugh and feel better, even if only for a moment. "Oh, I know. I'd like to see you try and stop me," he said with a wink. The Aatte male was a man of his word. He wouldn't let his uncle deal with his problems all on his own. Even if they never really talked about it, he could at least provide company.

As the steel hybrid said that he'd do it and motioned for the kid to follow Haven had to suppress a happy bark. Excitement flooded his system and his feet followed his uncle down the dirt road. "Awesome!" He held the ring tightly in his hand, afraid of losing it now. The last thing he wanted was to miss out on this opportunity now that he had been granted it! Now that he thought about it he didn't know what to expect. What piercing his ear would entail. He wasn't afraid though. It was just another adventure.

Just having Haven around for the moment in time seemed to brighten the world around the Savant. He really missed his kids but he wasn't going to demand they stayed when their mother was so far away. She had the right to see just what her little babes had grown into, though he really did wish they would hurry home. Haven and he were on the same page there atleast. He couldn't help but smile at the thought of the two young adults returning to the lands soon enough. Spring was in the air and he knew the days were getting warmer..

but yet at the same time the looming reminded of everything that was frail about life seemed to hang over them with the truth of Iskata and the words he'd had t orecently share with Naniko. He shook his head at the conversation they'd had, how so quickly it'd gone from silly little teasing exchanges between two siblings to the cold hard truth that DaVinci had to deliver. He should have made certain that Naniko was fine but she'd returned home and he'd been shoved back into the everyday workings of the pack. He trusted that Haven would check in on his mother though, sooner or later and then atleast they'd both know.

DaVinci just grinned though as the young man seemed to present him with a challenge. He shook his head slightly in amazement and cocked a brow at the boy. "You really wanna go down that road?" he teased. He had been a persistent annoyance to Haven's mother growing up and he could probably find many ways of appearing out of think air to pester Haven until he was tired of the older hybrid. He doubted that he'd need to though, the boy would find enough trouble of his own without having to catch DaVinci in the middle of his own while he was checking up on his uncle.

The two of them traveled down the old road and soon enough found themselves at Iskata's old cabin. DaVinci hesitated at the cobbled entrance for a moment before pushing the gate open and leading Haven to the door. Pushing it open he grinned and said cheerfully. "Make yourself at home while I get what's needed." There wasn't much to the place, really just a couple of rooms and it was obvious that the main place that anyone and everyone seemed to spend their time was in the livingroom where the fireplace rested. DaVinci hadn't set a fire up thatday but the wood was stacked neatly and in a flash he had the blaze going.

He moved out of the room and went to the bathroom where he'd brought what was left of the supplies from Deuce's cabin and other places he'd found within the lands. He'd watched his mother pierce Skylar's ears and though his had been pierced differently he'd noticed that his daughter's had healed cleaner than his had and figured that he'd atleast save Haven some trouble there. Taking the needle, a bowl of water and a few rags the male headed back to the other room. He placed the items on the mantle as he asked. "You ready?"

The kid chuckled as his uncle cocked his eyebrow at him. "Oh I don't know. Just sayin' if you think you're gonna try and hide away from me it isn't gonna work," he said flashing his pearly whites. Haven was respectful of people's wishes and never really attempted to rub anyone the wrong way. But a mischievous streak was growing in him as he was reaching that stage between being a child and an adult. He would always be the same old Haven, just with a bit more attitude than he would have shown before.

Jade eyes took in the territory as they walked down the road to the little house in the distance. It looked so small compared to the mansion! But it definitely had a little quaint, homey feel to it that the boy really liked. Following his uncle inside the door he plopped down on a particularly cushy looking sofa. Leaning forward in his seat he watched as DaVinci started a fire with amazing dexterity. He had seen his mother Anu make one once or twice and he was fascinated by the task. Now that he could shift and use two hands he would have to get her to teach him the trick.

Gaze scanned over the room as the older male disappeared into one of the side rooms to gather what was needed to perform the piercing. It was a nice little house. He loved the mansion, but having a little place like this all to himself would be cool. He had never seen anything like this inside of Crimson Dreams but he might have to look for one now. He doubted that he would choose to live in one of these over the mansion, but you never knew. When DaVinci returned he noted the bowl of water, the rags, and especially the needle. For a moment he had a second thought but it quickly went away.

"Yup! Let's do this!" he said with a smile. "Is there anything I need to do? Sit a certain way or something?"

DaVinci just grinned as he shook his head at the younger male. "You think I can hide when I gotta look after this all?" He flashed the boy a wicked smile as he admitted, "Though.. it might take you longer than you think to find me.." Phoenix Valley's territories were large and such a hodge-podge of different types of landscapes and hidden dangers that anyone would have a time searching out the male unless they knew his favorite hide-a-ways when he wasn't off performing tasks and patrolling the lands. He winked at Haven, figuring that the boy would make it his goal to track the Savant down no matter what.

When DaVinci had returned he checked on the fire once more, bringing the needle with him to heat it along the edge of the hearth. Watching the needle begin to glow a bright reddish orange DaVinci chuckled at the face that Haven put forth. He soaked one of the rags in the water before laying it onto the hearth and finally withdrawing the needle to plunge into the bowl of water itself. Listening to the hiss as steam drifted up from the bowl for a moment DaVinci's stormy orbs turned to Haven once more.

"Don't have to do anything but sit still..." he paused a moment as he dipped a second rag in alcohol as he suddenly asked. "But, you haven't told me which side you want it on either kiddo.." He grinned at Haven as he held up the rag that now gave off a rather powerful odor as he waited to find out which ear was gonna bear the ring shortly.

Jade eyes watched as his uncle heated the long needle up in the fire and then cooled it in the bowl of water. He made a guess that it was to sterilize it. Most kids his age probably wouldn't have had any idea what that was, but since one of his mothers was a healer he had at least a part of a clue. There had been a few occasions he had watched her work on other animals and knew that making sure wounds and utensils were clean so they didn't get infected. Maybe Nani had taught her brother some of these things as well and that's how he knew. Regardless he was glad to know that the thing that was going to poke through his ear was clean.

"Oh yeah, that might help, huh?" Haven laughed at his forgetfulness. Thankfully it wasn't something he had to think about, he already knew where he wanted the gold ring. "I want it on my white ear, right about here I think..." His fingers rubbed against the lower part of the bleached ear. He really liked his different colored ear. It gave him a unique look he thought (and was one of the few distinguishing features that would show he wasn't his father). The gold ring would stand out better against the white fur instead of the copper and it would enhance the specialness of that ear even more.

DaVinci grinned down at his nephew as he informed him on which ear he wanted the ring to go into. He moved over to the side where the boy was sitting and he pinched Haven's ear where the boy had been rubbing it earlier as he asked. "Right here?" just to make certain that he had the spot right. He couldn't even remember when he'd got the first ring put in his ear it had been so long, but then again it had probably been something he'd done when drinking out of boredom on the boat to Ireland. He knew the second one he'd received in Ireland by the leader of the clan Firefly and he had been adopted into. Firefly had received her piercings at the same time. He smiled at the thought of the better days as he prepared the spot for the piercing.

DaVinci knew that he should probably warn Haven before he actually did the piercing but he thought it was better perhaps if he didn't. He didn't want to make the boy any more nervous than he already was. Grinning to himself he shook his head, knowing that he'd hear it sooner or later from one of the boy's mother's for the handiwork he was about to do. Quick as a flash DaVinci had pressed the needle through the cartilage of Haven's ear, the loud pop of the shaft of the needle breaking through was quickly followed by DaVinci replacing the needle with the ring that Haven had provided him with.

Once in place he dipped the rag in the water and dabbed at the small well of blood that had appeared at the entry and exit holes DaVinci had made in the other's ear. Grinning down at Haven he asked. "Well, was it that bad?"

Wrap this up in the next few posts?

As DaVinci touched his ear to double check the placement that he wanted Haven nodded his head. "Yup, right there." He couldn't wait to see what it looked like. "When did you get your piercings?" Had his uncle been his age? Or older? The youth hadn't seen too many people with piercings so he was interested in the reasons people got them. He had his reason, but what were other's? Did they get them for similar occasions? Or just for no particular reason at all? He supposed he could think of quite a few reasons someone would want them. Maybe it would tell him something he didn't know about his uncle.

Without the warning the kid was completely relaxed before the needle was pushed through his ear. As he felt it and heard the cartilage break his fingers dug into the cushion of the couch and he clenched his jaw slightly. He didn't make any noise though. It had hurt, true enough, but it could have been worse. And...it was over. He felt DaVinci dab at his ear with the soaked cloth and question him. "Nah, it wasn't that bad. A surprise though!" he said with a chuckle. Tentatively a hand reached up to gently feel the ring that now adorned his ear. A wide grin spread over his lips as he looked at his uncle. "Awesome, thanks DaVinci!"

He just grinned as the questions came asking about his own jewelry that he wore. Shaking his head DaVinci just chuckled and ran one finger along the gold hoop that was in his own ear. "Different times actually.." He traced the tag that had been given to him without asking him as he frowned. "This one.. was my first.. and believe me, it's a time in my life I wish I could forget.." shaking his head he tried to smile as he went on. "That's all in the past though. The gold hoop I got when I was working on a ship with my sister Firefly.." his finger caught on the last piercing as he finished up the story. "And this hoop is called a celtic knot.. it was given to me when I was adopted into one of the clans in Eire.." He'd lived a rather colorful life before settling down, but even now DaVinci wouldn't call his life settled, not yet.

After the hoop had been placed in Haven's ear DaVinci stepped back to get a good look at the ring in his ear. He grinned and nodded, handing the boy a small mirror thatway he could get a good look at how it was set as he went about picking up the tools he'd been working with. Waving a hand at the boy as he tried to thank him he smiled and just chuckled. "Don't thank me just yet, wait til after your mother's have seen it.. you might not be so thankful then.." He doubted that they would really do much but he figured he'd probably hear a mouthful from one or the other of the woman if they ever found him. Not that he minded, he hadn't seen Naniko in a long while anyway.

Haven watched as his uncle traced his own piercings with his hand. The tag was weird. Not like the earrings at all. At the older male's tone and words he knew better than to question its origins any further. At least not right now. Perhaps some other time, but he was beginning to learn that some things were better left unsaid. The boy's eyes lit up at the mention of the ship and the land of Eire. "Wow, you worked on a ship? What was it like? Were you a pirate?" Some of his more juvenile tendencies got the best of him thinking of his uncle as a pirate. "Where is Eire?" He knew that Savina and Ehno came from a place across the ocean called Italy, but he had never heard of Eire.

The copper kid took the mirror that was handed to him eagerly, thankful that one had been on hand. He hadn't really gotten a look at himself since he had started to shift and he especially wanted to see how his new addition looked. Jade eyes stared back at himself as he glance over his bleached mane and the glint of gold at the bottom of his ear. His smile grew even wider. It was just what he had wanted. Haven only shrugged at DaVinci's warning. He really wasn't worried. "I'm sure it won't be a big deal, it's not like I did anything wrong. Besides, I'm going to like it no matter what." That was what really mattered. To him anyway.

Looking out the window, while it wasn't anywhere near sundown yet, he figured he should probably get going. It was time for him to return to Crimson Dreams and there was a good amount of walking ahead of him. He laid the mirror down on the sofa as he got to his feet. "I should probably head home, don't want to get back too late." He stretched his arms over his head. "But I'll come stop by again soon."

DaVinci couldn't help but laugh at the questions he was pelted with. Shaking his head he glanced out the window at the late winter outside as he sighed. "I wasn't much of a pirate, but it was a pirate's ship that we hopped across the sea." He smiled sadly as he glanced back to Haven. "It was exciting and dangerous. I miss being at sea and in Eire.. but this is my home now." He wished that he could combine the best of all the places but he couldn't. He had to settle for what he had. Putting up the tools he'd used the male turned to look at the young boy as he strained the water from the washcloth he'd used. "well, Eire.. is also called Ireland. It's almost directly across the sea from where we're at. The wolves there live differently than we do here.. they speak a different language too.." He missed his friends there but he'd made his choice and he wouldn't moan about it.

DaVinci finished up and leaned against the mantle as he watched the boy examining his new looks. Davinci smiled to himself as the boy gave him assurance that he wasn't in much danger of getting in trouble. He nodded in agreement to the words the boy said, "Well I'm glad you like it.." He wondered if the young boy's mind would change in later years, but he knew it was always easier to get rid of the earrings that to get them in. All in all it really didn't matter he guessed. If he hadn't done it someone else probably would have.

When Haven turned to gaze at the snowy landscape outside and his mind turned to that of the prospects of heading home Davinci nodded and grinned. "Don't want to get caught out in the weather if she turns.." he said as he walked to the door of the cottage and opened it while Haven finished stretching. He smiled to the youth and winked. "I'll hold you to that Haven. Say hello to your mother for me too.. when you get home" He hoped that the boy made it there fine but he figured he would be ok, he'd made it this far on his own and it wasn't like he was a baby anymore.

We can close this one up now Big Grin

Haven had always imagined going on some grand adventure. Listening to his uncle explain his time at and across the sea brought those old hopes and aspirations back to the surface. Yet at the same time he knew that he might never do anything like that. He loved his family and being so far away from them, not being able to see them whenever he wanted to, that was a scary thought. He didn't know if he was strong enough to be so separated from the ones he loved. Still, it was interesting hearing this short overview of his uncle's exploits. "Wow, that's really cool DaVinci! Quite the adventure it sounds like." The boy would have loved to hear more, but that would have to wait for another time.

The sky didn't look like anything could happen, but the silvery man was right. You could never depend on the weather to do what you wanted it to. He surely didn't want to get caught in any frigid rain or snow. "Exactly." With a contented sigh he finished his stretching and walked over to the now open door of the house. Haven shot his uncle one last toothy grin. "Hehe, okay. And I will!" He wrapped his arms around DaVinci in a quick hug before he headed outside. Looking back he waved as his feet began to carry him back home to Crimson Dreams.
