Zana was tired from her explorations of the lands outside of Inferni. She knew that she hadn't visited all the packs or even seen a half of the lands but she didn't want to get into too much trouble for being gone so long. She felt bad for not visiting DaVi when she'd met Lysander and realized that she'd found herself back to the packlands she'd been born in but she was afraid that the monster would be there glowering over his shoulder like she use to. She wasn't exactly afraid of the beast anymore but she didn't like to be reminded of the fire and pain that the creature had branished at her. She felt a shiver slice through her soul as she approached the border of Inferni.

The little girl walked slowly, almost creeping under the skulls on the pickets. She had never stopped to ask Gabriel what they were for, she almost felt she didn't want to know, but the tiny child was starting to grow a little naive about the world around her, and with her meltingpot of mixed blood it probably wasn't the wisest trait to hold. Her tiny paws had almost brought her past the skulls when the loud horrible sound of the gulls came into play.

Zana's eyes flitted up to the skies where the old gull with one foot was flying in circles, coming closer and closer to her. She whined because she knew what was going to happen next. He always could find the small figure near the beach and after he had his fun picking and pecking at her he would bring in the rest of the flock and she'd have to make her dive for cover. She knew deep down that she'd started it all by chasing the gulls across the beaches when they woke her so early but she never caught them!

Suddenly the bird dove down and she was met with the beating of wings against her face and chest. She snapped out at the gull but it didn't seem the bird was after her this time. She felt the weight of the small pouch that Lys had given her to hold the crafted peashooter being lifted from her chest as she screamed in frustration and anger. She was not going to give up the gift to the bullying pestersome bird. She was finally putting her paw down.

DaVinci knew he shouldn't even be roaming the area so close to the clan's lands but no matter what lies he told he knew he couldn't keep away from the crimson eyed lady. He hated the fact that his youngest sibling was now a member of the clan and he just felt that he'd never see her again as well.. the clan tended to suck in souls and turn them into half lives of who they once were. He figured that Gabriel had filled Zana's head with all sorts of little lies and horrors about her previous life and those that had, and still did love and care for her. He flicked a small stone out of his path as he trotted along and kept his eyes open for signs of Ryan.

After trailing a ways outside the border for a while he lowered his head and sighed, wishing for once that he had just taken the easier path for once and joined Inferni from the start. though he wondered what would have happened if he'd come face to face with a sibling in the heat of battle. Would he have bloodied his teeth against one he'd been raised alongside or even helped raise himself or would he have let them go, possibly at the cost of losing a clanmate. He knew he didn't have any answers to the moral matter.. that's why he'd chosen to walk the line.. and why now even in Phoenix Valley he tended to stay far gone from his family ties.. except those he couldn't avoid.

His deep plotting were interupted by the piercing scream that rang in his ears. Only once had he heard a voice cry out like that and already he was racing along the shore in his heart knowing who was so upset. In the blink of an eye he crashed through the brush and happened upon the small frame of Zana cowering at the edge of Inferni. The gull had already gone into the sky once more, startled by the sudden appearance of reinforcements as DaVinci didn't even stop to think, he just swooped up the child in his arms, trying to hold her still as he tried to figure out what the alarming scream had been for. "Zana! Zana, are you ok? What happened?" He cried.

The girl hadn't even realized that there was another in the area or that he was coming to her 'rescue' when the bird had suddenly let out a screech and disappeared. She'd felt the tears coming on already when she was suddenly airborne herself and wrapped in the warmth of another's arms. She had begun wailing as she struggled to get free of this new danger before it suddenly came clear that the new danger was calling her name and seemed worried to boot. The little pup tried to wipe her tear blinded orbs as she couldn't give up the wailing yet, the scare from losing her new prized possession was too much stress on the child.

Burying her face in the male who's scent seemed so strangely familiar she finally blinked away the tears and whined. "Won't let him take it!" Her high pitched voice and the tears were too much as she tried to explain, "Can't have!" she c raddled the small pouch between her paws as she cried on. She just wanted everyone to stop picking on her but she was tired of having to be rescued just the same!

Along the way she finally realized who it was holding her as she cried out again. "Dabi!" her distressful situation still causing her to cry uncontrollably but here was her big brother come to save her after the big bad gull had come once more.

When the child didn't stop crying DaVinci dropped down on his rump and nestled her in his lap, his arms wrapped around the young girl like she was a baby as his mane covered his face and framed the little Lykoi child as she cried and hollered on. He knew that there was little he could do but coo and shush her, waiting for the spell to be over. "Shhh.. Be still.." he said softly as he tried to rock the girl, his voice candy coated and sweet, "Nothing's gonna hurt you.." His stormy orbs gazing down sadly at the little sister he knew he'd have to release back into the wilds of Inferni soon enough, though he didn't even want to let her go.

He couldn't help but laugh when finally it seemed she was beginning to realize just who had hold of her. He didn't blame the child, whatever she'd just been through must have been hell to her, his own name even sounded harsh coming from the girl though atleast she wasn't screaming in that heart stopping tone anymore. "Yeah.. Dabi's here.." he said as he brushed a hand over her bangs, realizing the girl was still just as tiny as he'd last seen her. He frowned, wondering if she should be in Inferni if this was what she was going to be subject to. He had to admit she didn't look starved.. but she was still so tiny.

Suddenly he realized she had something pressed between them as he asked softly, "What you have there.." He lifted his head slightly and shifted his arms to loosen the hold on the child to reach between her paws and his chest for what she had been trying to hide. "Let's see what you've been hiding.." he said as the girl was sniffling and whining, though she let her brother see just what it was she'd been trying to hide.

Zana's cries had not fallen on deaf ears, though it had taken her a ridiculous amount of time to figure out just from where it had come from. With such acute hearing, Corona hadn't even been that far off but in the thick of the forests near the beach. She had scoured them much longer than she should have, wondering what on earth could have been wrong (or going wrong, even though she chose to believe such a thing wasn't happening) and that panic had only picked up through the moments where she hadn't been able to locate the pint-sized child who incidentally shared her name.

When she had found her, it was as the trees began to thin out and the sand reached up into their grasps, mixing with the unkempt grass that would eventually poke through the earliest of spring snows; but Zana was being held onto by someone unfamiliar. Dull in colour like the world beyond him, Zana stood out against the foreign blue-grey of a vaguely coyote-shaped figure. He could have been someone new to Inferni, but intution doubted it and bubbling anger overruled it. It didn't matter to her, Zana had been screaming and he was now the target of a blindsiding attack. In one fluid motion as she stepped from out of the cover of the forest, her gold figure had swooped low to grab a good-for-throwing-sized rock.

It was with the momentum as she rose and drew back that she threw the rock with, not intentionally aiming to hit the intruder or Zana, but rather to make her (perhaps already obvious) appearance and approached noted. The stone left her hand and arched towards the mass of blue-grey, leaving the spry leader to bristle defensively and snarl out a warning. “Put her down, you piece of shit!” Coyote or not, this bugger had picked the wrong clan to waltz into and stir up shit with.

Zana was so caught up in trying to snuggle up against DaVinci now that she'd realized who it was who'd captured her that the little girl hadn't even realized that her first cry had caught the attention of one of her fellow packmates, and family members. Lifting her head up when DaVinci was trying to study the pouch around her neck she tried to tug it away from him. It was her gift and she was still rather touchy about it. The sniffles and tears that she was still having a touch time stopping were slowing down atleast. She'd had her head pressed against DaVinci's arm when she heard the outcry from within the boundaries of the clan's lands. She was in trouble now.

Lifting her head up she caught sight of Corona but couldn't figure out just was was going on until she realized that her cousin was very angry. She pinned her ears back and tried to call out, her voice still choked from all the wailing she'd just been doing earlier. "Coronaaa!" but she was too late as the clan member let lose with the rock.

DaVinci had no clue what in the world he'd fallen into but it became obvious that he wasn't going to like it. He'd given up on trying to take the pouch away from Zana but when he'd tried to adjust her in his arms he caught the voice of the angry clan member and turned his head to catch sight of Corona. Instead of doing the smart thing and putting down Zana he held fast to her and tried to explain himself, unluckily enough Zana had chosen the same time to call out to her clanmate. "Hey, wait a second.."

Too bad for Davinci it seemed that the wail of Zana seemed to drown out most of what he said and too soon the rock was flying. The stone caught him in the shoulder as he growled. "What the fuck is your problem!" He held Zana tighter as he snarled at the bitch. She could have hit Zana, was this damn clan crazier than everyone else seemed to believe. To think he'd given them the benefit of the doubt this whole time.
