dancing in the dark

ooc-sorry this is shit.. it's like 2 am and I should be sleeping.. BUT I am all caught up with threads!

The tiniest sliver of the moon could be seen above her as she stood out alone on the edge of the packlands. She knew soon that she would return to the pack with her two son's in tow. She hardly doubted that Haku had found any pain in the deed she'd done and she knew now atleast though there was much fire and passion between the two that too much fire could be a bad thing. They would probably burn the whole pack to the ground around them if they weren't careful. She didn't know how she would manage once they both came to the realization that their relationship that was build on sand had come crumbling down. She could feel the wind rippling against her pelt as the scent on the breeze threatened rain. She didn't mind, sometimes the fire had to be quenched so the embers could rest for a while.

The Acer of the pack was positioned under a lonely old sentry oak tree that seemed to be an eerie enough backdrop but with the setting moon and the dawning of the sun it seemed to haunt the world, like the woman that rested beneath it. She raised her head slightly, the rising sun catching and casting her celtic jewelry into a glitter of sparkles as she turned away from the first rays of the brilliant morning that would come and rise over the lands for a time before the clouds of the storm would eventually even chase them off.

She never much liked the morning, not since she'd left the Eire coast behind on a bright and sunny summer's day. The early dawn rays were a reminded of just all she'd left behind. She'd thought that she had found enough to keep her here in these lands but now.. she wasn't so certain. Two strapping young boys were enough, if they even cared who their parents were. They were just as much the children of the pack as they were her own, atleast, the pack seemed to make that well aware the moment they had arrived. She didn't know anymore but she wasn't going to hang around while the morning rays teased her with old fading memories.

In Character

It was a grey morning. At least, it felt that way, though the rising sun desired to tell a different story. The approaching sunrise was breathtaking to the passive observer, but the dark werewolf strolling beneath the lightening sky was not in the mood to be passive. She'd spent yet another few days out scouting for any trace of Dahlia's missing children, and yet again she'd returned empty-handed. To help ease her deep frustration at her lack of success, Kol had made a pass through the old stores of Wolfville on the way home to pick up a few more pieces for her hobby. Her leather satchel hung from her strong back, its cargo a myriad of semi-precious gemstones and silver from the long abandoned jewelry shops of the town. Wrapped in paper amongst the cargo were several perfect bird feathers of various species; the deep black of the raven, the small and bright blood red of the cardinal, the large peppered brown of a hawk, the brilliant speckled white of a snowy owl. Each feather, each stone, everything she picked up along her walk formed ideas for new decorations in her mind as her mane glimmered with the light from her past creations.

The girl's hobby allowed her to let her mind focus on something other than the mysterious disappearance of Emwe and Conor, and she welcomed the respite. Her mood began to lift ever so slightly as designs raced through her head, stopped suddenly short by a bright flicker of light that blinded her. Squinting and throwing up her hand to shield her violet eyes, Kol looked around for the source of the sudden beacon. Against the brightness, she made out the red hued figure of Firefly, the sun dancing off the jewelry she was adorned with. It had been ages since the black female had encountered the Acer alone, and she tentatively strode over to her, bowing softly in a morning greeting. "Good morning, Firefly. I hope I'm not intruding." As she waited for a response, the sun's rays caught the red of the heartbroken mother's fur, and Kol was suddenly struck with an idea. Crouching down, she slung her pack from her shoulder and rummaged through it deliberately, searching for that one item she'd come across that would match Firefly perfectly. Grinning, she wrapped her fingers around it, pulling out a cabochon of carnelian roughly half the size of her palm. It had been the most beautiful piece of that stone she'd come across yet, and Firefly would just be the perfect match for it. Chewing her lip, she darted her gaze back and forth between the stone and the woman, figuring out in her head the best design and setting for it.

Firefly hadn't expected any of the pack to be up at the dawning hour and when out of the woodwork the coal hued woman had appeared she'd almost snarled at her packmate out of surprise, but last minute had managed to surpress the impulse. She stared at the lady quietly, her eyes a constant whirlwind of emotions as she just nodded to the woman, not exactly answering her question, but not getting up and walking away. Her eyes caught at the jewerly that the other had adorn her fur with but she didn't comment still, the silent treatment not a punishment for disturbing her peace, but it was just one of those moods that the Acer had fallen into and she wasn't ready to greet the world just yet.

Too soon though it seemed that she would have to for Kol didn't just scatter on her way like most of the lower ranked members did when stumbling across the Council member. Instead she caught Firefly's eye as she began to rummage around in a back and playing with some gem. Firefly raised a brow as she watched those royal orbs darting back and forth between the jewel and herself. Finally she let it out. "Kol, what in the world.." She really was beginning to wonder just what the woman's mind was working at, she wasn't certain she liked the sign of the wheels puttering behind the lady's eyes as she gazed at her but she just waited to see what it was that was causing such an intense look of concentration upon her face.
