HII.

Elliot Oriel was at a complete loss. It was true that this was entirely new territory for him, but was every being who ventured into such territory this lost? He had a sinking feeling that suggested this wasn't the case. However, there wasn't much he could do about the whole thing, aside from pushing onward, hoping to strike some good luck. But as much as he wished for that to happen, a part of Elliot insisted on being rational. And that rationale insisted that things were going to remain the same between him and Kol, no matter how hard he tried to make it otherwise.

It was these thoughts that clouded his mind as he walked, his meandering gait showing no signs of slowing. Nor did his appearance show any signs of him knowing where he was. All he knew was that it was a little ways from home and that he was in a forest of sorts, but that was about it. What did it matter, anyway? It wasn't as if he had anyone at home waiting for his return. He could be gone for as long as he wanted and no one would notice. Hell, he could never return and it wouldn't make a difference. What sullen, sulky thoughts he had.

Snow was gone and that was good. It would soon be warm enough to start building his house and Leland was excited. His life seemed to be going well. Catherine was almost always on his mind and Asha less and less as the days passed. Part of him felt he had disappointed Dawali, but how he wasn’t sure. Asha had been the one to reject him, Dawali couldn’t fault him for unrequited love. With him he had an ax, not too sharp but workable, and Pixie trailed after him, occasionally mewing. The calico kitten spirit had no interest in gathering wood, but she tagged along anyway, as so did for most of Leland’s adventures. It was her job after all.

Leland passed many trees, but as he had no real idea what he was looking for the axe say no action. Sometimes he saw a rather large branch lying out, and he considered dragging those back home but he knew it was silly, for building a home they would be too small. Growing frustrated, he was about to turn back when he came across the male, who seemed to be in a similar state as himself. “Aye, hello there sir! What’ca doin’ out here?” Suddenly the frustration was gone, replaced now by friendliness.
