tempting the viper

Firefly had been spending her days as of lately looking about the shoreline of the lands for any sight of Jac but still she hadn't seen hide nor hair of the man. She was beginning to worry that the sea had claimed another sailor and he was resting in the sands far below but she didn't let that thought linger in her mind for long. Sighing softly she realized that her trails had brought her to the edge of her old packlands. She bared her teeth in disgust and just to be a little spiteful she squatted down and left the leaders a little marker behind right on their borders.

After kicking dirt and bits of grass over the strong scent she smirked to herself and stretched her long legs as she wandered off a few yards and to the edge of the bay, staring out across the waters as she murmured. "Jac.. where are you." She hadn't realized how much she had missed her old life until Ruri had arrived and blasted her with memories of her happy yet rough and tough past. She shook her head and moved back a pace as the waters came rushing over her toes. She flicked the water off her paws and sighed.

Catalyst happened to wander far from the safe confines of the church; terribly far. Blame it on the mere urge of wanderlust, Catalyst didn't care how far she was traveling at this point, taking on that rebellious nature that came to her fellow sister Avarice all too naturally, nobody at this point could stop her from where she was heading. The ivory girl might have been a mere three months old yet, but everyday she was evolving into an older, more intellectual individual. Stepping out of the routine of her old life, there were new opportunities to pursue here. Even her English was slightly getting better by the day, with frequent exchanges and hearings of verbs, nouns, and the like to cross her ears and sound from her throat. She was on her way to becoming one of the adults, one day, and carrying her physique a little proud along that thought, she wanted to continue strutting her confident nature.

Upon the passed news about a puppy eater coming to close quarters with her sister Avarice, the news was certainly unsettling and also aggravating to the pup. Out of the rest of the de Sadira litter, Catalyst was the most upset about this. No one had permission to touch or even graze anything about her sister or siblings for that matter, the only one who had such permission was of course the guardians, and also including herself (she was the first born, the oldest out of the litter, so that gave her more loopholes to power, right?) With her wanderlust also came the never ending itch to find this monster puppy eater and laugh in the face of danger (even though on the inside, she was wary to meet face to face, still, her intuition pulled through regardless).

Reaching the very borders now, there was a presence up ahead scratching the dirt and making an awful pile of a scent. Catalyst could smell it, and even while she was still young, even she knew better that this individual was certainly not of Dahlia. Keeping her head, neck, and tail high as if she was an authorative adult coming over, she stopped at a comfortable distance (which was actually farther from comfortable than said, for if needs be she had to run, she would get those fortunate couple of seconds ahead). Peeing at what the female was doing, her little kohl snout snorted. "Sie dort! Who'er you's?" She spoke in her small voice, a mixture of both languages tasteful upon her tongue, but tried to make it sound somewhat authorative.

Firefly caught the sound of small steps moving towards her as she sat there. She ignored them, hoping that the owner wouldn't catch sight of her, unless it was Conor or Emwe. That thought was soon thrown out as the foreign language came out harsh between the two of them. She turned her eyes towards the small figure as she frowned. Great, it was one of the little unwanted mutts that Cercelee had taken in. She groaned as she turned about and took a step towards the small figure, a smirk appearing on her lips as she taunted the brat. "Why, I'm the big bad wolf, who are you runt.." she asked as she took another step towards the small figure.

She didn't know what it was about their large annoying family thinking they were all in control and high and mighty. It seemed that Cercelee was raising them right from the start to be a bunch of little bossy brats. Firefly would have no trouble at all breaking apart their little fantasy world that Dahlia de Mai was building around them. She didn't believe that anyone deserved a happily ever after and if it made life hell for Cercelee then that was just an added bonus.

She sat back on her haunches and let out a jaw cracking yawn before asking. "You.. really don't know who I am?" She was slightly surprised. She figured that the icy bitch would have warned the small pups about their evil cousin who was wicked and did horrible things. She should give Dahlia de Mai a message today, she thought as she gazed down at the small child. She'd thrown a pup out onto thin ice once just to see what would happen.. she wondered what creative little games she could find for this one.

Catalyst's dual eyes couldn't help but train upon the intriguing pelt that this female had, in its entirety of well mixed colors and patterns. It made her seem all the more foreign. The young pup was met with a rather distasteful tone, and one that replied with edged attitude (especially at the word runt, which really, Roulette was the one considered the runt of her siblings, and she was the first born, the biggest out of the rest of them). The word was not taken so kindly from Catalyst, seeing as how she knew limited English words, runt however especially stood out. "I am not a runt. My little brother Roulette is th' runt. I'm Catalyst de Sadira, th' first born, so 'm not a runt." She made that clear (even while it sounded like she took offense to that, which she did), and didn't care if she was soiling Roulette's name either, for even he knew that was the truth about himself. "And you's... don't look that big." She said, definitely seeing way bigger individuals than this one before back in her homeland, and when she stepped even closer to her, Catalyst stood her ground, as much as her instinct and paws were screaming for her to take a couple wary steps back. In reality though, Catalyst was indeed becoming a little testy brat with this female from first impression.

When she stated that there was no way Catalyst couldn't possibly know who she was, confusion instantly struck her face. Was she supposed to know something? Her guardians didn't mention anything about anyone else, and the only other probable assumption would be that monster puppy eater that was running amok at the pack borders. The thought of that made the small follicles of fur on her spine prick, and her adrenaline up a dosage in her veins. "No... not 'less you're th' puppy eater tha' attacked my sister!" She said defiantly, a little anger laced in her voice at this. Oh, that whole situation? It made her heated. Catalyst was sort of hoping this wasn't the puppy eater that's been going around, but if it was... well, prepare to feel puppy wrath to the third degree.

Firefly took a few steps closer to the annoying pup as she tried to make herself seem bigger than she actually was. The metallic woman raised a brow at the girl as she let out a huff of irritation at having to deal with the kid. "Yeah, so? You're still a runt, and if you're not a runt then you're just an ugly little rat." She took another step closer as the girl commented on Firefly's own appearance. She chuckled and bared her fangs at the girl as she gave her a little life lesson. "A word to the wise, looks can be deceiving.." Firefly was a bitch and she didn't mind letting the whole world know. This little brat wasn't her child and she seemed to be too haughty for her own good. There were already enough spoiled brats out there. The kid sure did need knocked down a couple notches.

She smirked as the kid gave her some material to work with. It seemed that there had been some monster out among the lands. She knew that, she'd heard it before she'd left the pack, but she wasn't about to chow down on the kid, even if it would shut the damn thing up. She snorted at the stupid puppy and shook her head. "Kid, do I seriously look like I'm gonna eat you.. Seriously. Run back to your mother kiddo, there's worse monsters out there than me, though your little guardians probably wouldn't think so." She flashed the girl a dazzling smile as she reached out a foreleg, trying to knock the girl off her feet. She needed something to liven up the whole situation. She was stuck talking to a child.

At the colorful woman approaching even closer than before, Catalyst knew she was now beginning to touch the outer layer of her personal space, and this time couldn't help to inch a couple stumbling steps back. Gazing up at the towering adult as she corrected that why not while Catalyst was still a runt, she was also an ugly little rat. Even while the curse of vanity didn't hit the pup just yet at this stage of her life, it was still a considerable blow to her ego. She was small, but sometimes big things could come in small packages (at least, once again, was what Catalyst thought in her mind). Catalyst had some of her own words to say in retort. "'m not a runt! 'm just like you's. A rat is smaller an' weak'r than me. 'm a Luperci, not a' rat, dummkopf." She muttered the last part in her native tongue, taking the figurative speech quite literally. Keeping her scowl upon her face, she felt her little heart pick up in speed as the fangs of this woman revealed, and couldn't help but brace herself backwards even more. She began to feel the tremors of fear grip her with icy fingers, but Catalyst had to hang in there. For herself and the rest of Dahlia. "Looks can be deceiving..." Now keeping her scowl and also semi-hesitant gaze on the female and her fangs, still standing her ground, it was as if she was applying that meaning to herself too. Yeah, looks could certainly be deceiving, and perhaps Catalyst repeated the female's words for her own reassurance. Maybe another pup would have backed down by now, cowering, afraid to speak, and apologizing, but no, not Catalyst. Even while the adult was beginning to be quite intimidating and making her slightly shake from her adrenaline, she stood what ground she had. She was Catalyst de Sadira, and wouldn't let anyone make a fool of herself.

The mood only worsened, as the adult made a mockery of Catalyst's statement about the puppy eater. Well, how the hell would she know if the adult was in the clear or not? Stranger danger, the thought immediately brought her back to what Conor told her at the beach that day. Cercelee certainly wasn't going to describe every single detail about this puppy eater, what horrid atrocities it committed, and the such. By the way the adult was sounding and acting so far, hell, it would definitely convince Catalyst that she was something along the lines of a menacer to puppies. At the mention of running back to her mother, Catalyst couldn't help but show a little hurt to that in her response, strangely enough in this situation. "I... don' have a' mommy." She said defiantly, once again. She only wished to have a real mommy to run home to, but she had to settle with the guardians she had, in which it seemed this adult knew of (which was a surprising fact to Catalyst). "How do y' know my guardians?" She questioned, incredulously.

All of a sudden, Catalyst felt herself knocked backwards, the adult's foreleg jutting her to the ground. Luckily it caught maybe two or three legs, but it was enough to bring her down. Trying to catch herself (but ultimately failing at so), she fell to the cold hard ground with a thud on her underbelly. "Autsch!" She said, feeling the sting of pain rise from scraping her forelegs and underside. With dual hued eyes now gazing up upon the adult, a flicker of anger in their little pupils, Catalyst shuffled to get back up on her paws. "Dummkopf, wiederholen sie das und ich beiße sie." Her hackles were beginning to raise along her spine, and granted that her words might have seened miniscule and nothing, Catalyst surely kept her word, for one thing. The strike at her was unexpected the first time, but if this adult was to extend her foreleg or any other limb toward her, there was certainly no doubt at all the next action would have Catalyst latching onto the adult by the little teeth (or even claws) that she had. Guaranteed.

Firefly chuckled darkly as she hit home with the taunting comment to the puppy. She had insulted the little bugger but that didn't bother her too much. She'd insulted much worse. She stretched out her long legs as she tried to ignore the little presence that tried to make Firefly accept that she was worthy of her time and attention and that she was not a rat. The woman just shrugged and leaned heavily against a tree to scratch at a pestering itch. She yawned, showing off her long sharp fangs before snapping her jaws shut. "You're not just like me, you're nothing like me. Just because you're a Sadira doesn't make you anything special. You're worthless until you leave an impression on their souls." She grinned, her teeth glittering dully as she chuckled, remembering just what sort of inpression she'd left on the pack the annoyance belong to.

When the little girl tried to work up the nerve to move closer Firefly just watched her cooly like a cat toying with a mouse. She was enjoying this very much, now all she needed was the little brat to go runing squealing all the way back to Cercelee about the big bad bitch that had scared the piss out of her. When her own words were repeated back to her Firefly lowered her gaze to where she could see the little girl's face more clearly, "You keep telling youself that kiddo.." she said with a smirk. These silly little things thought that if they stood up to the bad guy that they would walk away in the end the victor. Firefly had other plans. She wanted to see the little girl wet herself before she went scampering back into the pack's territory.

She found a dark amusement in harassing the child who had times been better would hae been her pack mate. Now she was just some little stray who had happened to wander across the wrong wolf. Firefly began to wonder if perhaps she should have told the girl that she was the big bad wolf that liked to eat children, then perhaps she would have got a more interesting reaction from the brat. Instead she was stuck with a quivering mass of child that was trying to act brave in the face of her doom. Firefly hoped that she could become the girl's doom but she thought that she had no chance, the pack would probably find out in a heartbeat. If only she hadn't marked the border just to be a bitch. She pouted slightly in disappointment but that all was pushed aside rather quickly as the small one began to mumble again.

Fireflt pricked her ears forward as she taunted. "What, I couldn't hear you, could you speak louder?" She pawed at her ear with a hideleg before shaking her head, acting like there really was a problem other than a poor pathetic pup.

She'd finally given up on the stupid thing coming to her senses as Firefly swatted at the brat. She cackled gleefully as the girl went tumbling into a pile. The fury in the child's eyes amused her as she leaned forward again and spat. "Beobachten Sie Ihr Zunge-Zwergrind .., oder ich werde es haben." Now wasn't it sad that the only character that knew a lick of german was the big bad wolf that wanted you dead.

From analyzing gestures, the adult seemed to be unenthusiastic with this confrontation. It puzzled Catalyst as to why she was acting this way, that whatever words were to befall from her little muzzle, that they weren't taken on a serious note, weren't taken in stride. If it was the adult's mission to perplex and humiliate the de Sadira pup (in which it obviously was), it was beginning to show its telltale signs upon the dainty contours of the pup's visage. Not paying attention to Catalyst? Oh, she'll make her pay attention, she just won't stop right there with it. Hearing as the adult began to justify how there were two completely different individuals and how one had to prove their worth to make a lasting impression, Catalyst's small kohl snout snorted. "How would you's know anyway? Your not a Sadira... you's wouldn't know anything 'bout it." Catalyst had not received the adult's full name yet, so it would be assumed that the adult was just another stranger talking out of their ass to bring more annoyance upon the female. There was something that she said, however, that make a pang on her heart. You're worthless until you leave an impression on their souls. It made her think of mother, instantly, and strangely enough once again. Ließen wir einen eindruck nicht auf ihrer seele? Warum würde sie uns hier holen zu gehen, wenn wir keine art des eindruckes ließen? Ist das, warum sie verließ? No, she shook her head to herself, the adult was only trying to put poisonous thoughts in her mind, make matters worse like she was.

Even though her mother had abandoned them, at least her mother was nothing in comparison to this female. This female was wretched, truly wretched. Her bad taste of personality and the way she was acting with her flashes of fangs and sneering faces and remarks made the physical and outside attributes just as unattractive, despite the unique colors and patterns her fur held (and Catalyst would otherwise be in amazement in, seeing as her own fur was so drab and plain). The female was just trying to spar, and was winning with her, and all that Catalyst could do was look up with a seething azure and steel eyed gaze. No matter what the female said, Catalyst knew she was brave, she was proud of herself, and indeed she would keep telling herself those things. As far as what was mumbled before and the request to repeat, Catalyst would simply shorthand her. "Too bad, no. 'S'not my fault if you's is old an' can't hear anymore, großmutter" She said with a little smirk. If the female could be just as hardheaded and snappy with words, she could just as well.

What was to come next would change the scenario for Catalyst entirely. As her name implied, it was certain mixed elements that caused a chemical reaction, and the dropping of German words to fall from the adult's jaws in perfect lick, grammar, and sentence structure to the pup's ears was certainly something she would never expect in a million years. This female, she spoke perfect German, and Catalyst understood her retorting threat clearly. It wasn't the threat in itself that suddenly stunned the pup, but the mere language. Dual hued eyes now stared at the adult, incredulously. "Du... du sprechen Deutsch?" Well, it couldn't have been more obvious than before, but Catalyst was truly in shock about this. For her, the whole situation changed, entirely. Now, as if loathing this stranger like before, Catalyst was now beginning to look up to her as somewhat of an outside guidance, although she couldn't be too trusting as of yet. "Es gibt niemand sonst hier, das Deutsch anders als meine geschwister spricht. Ich bin, also froh, sie kann zu hören es auch sprechen!" She exclaimed, feeling her stub of a tail wag. "Wer sind sie, wirklich?" She questioned, her interest intensified by the unnamed stranger.

Firefly couldn't help but laugh at the silly little child who was trying to act like she was so grown up. She shook her head sadly and gazed down at the thing in disgust as she tried to prove a point with the adult. She couldn't help but roll her eyes as she was informed that she knew nothing of being a Sadira when she'd been stamped with the damn name from day one. She sneered down at the little piping brat as she asked. "I don't do I? That's strange indeed when my own mother was a Sadira and my siblings seem to all carry the blood as well." She shook her pelt like she was trying to get rid of a bad thing as she said in disgust. "It's in the blood, not like I could rid myself of the lot of you if I wanted to." She really wouldn't mind ridding the world of a few of the relatives. She really wished that she could have started with Haku's own damn child from that sniveling white bitch but she'd already send the brat on her way. Too bad.

She cast her emerald eyes back to the child as she spoke once more, Firefly was almost tempted to ignore the german tongue as she rattled off again. She hadn't heard the words spoken in so long, except for Sabeen and she wasn't even certain the bitch knew she was speaking another tongue. Firefly's eyes just dance in amusement as the child seemed to think that she was getting away with something or another. She was blessed atleast with having too much freetime aboard the ships and being able to learn a multitude of languages, some just spatters while others were fluent enough. She let out a large yawn at the pup to show just how much she cared for her words before beginning to work in removing a burr from her tail as the brat carried on.

Firefly knew that if she wished to dazzle the world all she had to do was put a soft little simpering smile on her lips and let her looks do the talking but she hadn't gone that far in such a long time, the temper and fists of her ex-mate had almost guaranteed that she would put the skills away, yet she found herself free from his chains and able to walk among the living again. She didn't mind what one thought of her, she would get from the world what was needed, and if she had to give a little to earn what she wanted it was her choice. She flicked her eyes across the form of the plain little puppy as she gave a bratty little reply that the Sadira woman had almost expected from the runt. She gave a chuckle at her words and just rolled her eyes. Children could be so amusing from time to time, if they weren't so annoying as well. Why did they think that was so cute.. really it just made her want to throw the brat down a well.

She hadn't expected the puppy to do a complete personality change with the threat that she'd issued in her native tongue but she should have known that children either reactive in fear at threats or in some utter annoying amazement. She of course had to be one of those kids that was amazed. She groaned and shook her head as the child suddenly went into a stint on the fact that Firefly could indeed speak German. She gave up and plopped herself down on the ground and eyed the kid before admitted, in English, just to annoy. "Yes I know it.. I didn't always live on this rock you know.." Well, she'd never lived in Germany either, but the high seas were a place with a million languages running wild and it had worked well enough to become her stomping grounds. A heathen child running rampid on a ship with a fistful of languages at her command, mostly cusswords but she had been able to gain hold of German and French onboard, Gaelic as well had been added in the mix when she'd emerged herself in the barbarian world of the celtic wolves.

She smirked at the girl as she went on. "Veranlassen Sie Gebrauch dazu, nicht vieler Sorge, die Muttersprache eines Anderen zu lernen." She let her eyes drift away from the girl as she asked the more serious question. Firefly flicked an ear back, debating on telling her some wild story before she finally admitted. "Ich bin Firefly, Ihre Mutter .. war meine Tante oder etwas.." Not that she cared what the woman had been, she was gone now so it didn't matter to her.

Sorry for the wait, just got back from absence. 300+

This woman, was she absolutely vile. Not once did she drop her whole I don't give a damn about what you say persona, even while Catalyst (at this point at least) was trying to be serious for once through their whole ordeal. What was even more shocking was the fact that she had the Sadira bloodline in her as well! What the hell?! The ivory girl took a step back, looking upon the rude woman in what could be considered some sort of distant relative. The thought instantly made her flesh beneath her pelt crawl. "Wait... who..." Getting into the talk of bloodlines with how the two were somehow related in some strange way would probably be complicated, and Catalyst couldn't even imagine how many other individuals that were composed of her family (or branching from her family). Now Catalyst was interested in this, but where would it all begin? Her dual eyes looked questioningly up to the snide adult, but something in her told Catalyst that she probably wouldn't want to waste her time and breath anyway explaining every single person they were somehow linked to.

From a very inconvenient and bad meet, well, it was still bad in a sense, but Catalyst was in the process of finding out new information she'd never heard of before. Not from her mother, not from Cercelee, and that was it when it came to adult interactions. At first the de Sadira assumed that maybe this evil woman was lying about everything, but from her tone (even while irritated), it was still genuine in its words. Hearing how she was quite proficient in German and told Catalyst that she had to get used to English around here, the pup couldn't help but grimace. "I don' want to though." She simply said with a pout, even while the adult was in the right of things.

Finding out that her name was Firefly, it was an odd name for one to be given. Even more so, Firefly spoke of Catalyst's mother as her aunt? This made both of her eyes open wide, and for the first time a stroke of hope was felt within her. "No way?! Wait, have you's seen her recently? Has she spoke to you?!" Her inquiries were a little frantic and hysteric, but it suited her situation entirely.

Firefly was not amused when the girl had begun to show interest once she learned that they were related. She really should have learned to keep that information to herself, everytime someone else learned that something always seemed to go wrong. The young female looked down at the look of shock on the child's face as she smiled, a soft chuckle rising from her throat as she asked. "Thought everyone was going to be sweet and angelic in this family? You've got a lot to discover kid.." She wasn't going to be the one to teach her, but she wondered if the brat would learn fast how warped and messed up their little clan really was. Cercelee would probably try and keep them as innocent as can be with butterflies and mellow yellow daisies. She loathed the idea, but it wasn't going to be her problem since she wasn't part of their pack anymore.

When she heard the child suddenly start grumbling about not wanting to learn English Firefly rolled her eyes a moment before grinning wickedly. "I didn't say you couldn't use your knowledge of another language against them though.. there's a lot out there you can do.. once you know more than someone else." She snicked as she glanced back to the girl. "Believe me.. knowledge will get you farther than you'd think.." Why was it kids always had to be stubborn and horrid. She really wished that this bunch would grow up quickly if they were anything like this one here.

Firefly had been in the middle of stretching out her long forelegs when the young girl suddenly blurted out a whole nest of questions at her. Firefly's ears pinned back as she growled softly. "I ain't ever seen your mother. I just know her because my own was nearly obsessed with the connections of this family. I never cared to know my kin, it's better not to.. they always expect more out of you." If one didn't know you well enough you couldn't really disappoint them too badly. Firefly liked to disappoint, so lack of knowledge on another's part was always her gain in the end. She hoped this brat would learn that soon enough.
