.......yeah, they really were... and i miss star!! man. nostalgia!

ANOTHER HARD-LUCK STORY

.......Hemming was immensely pleased about sitting down and talking to someone. He would be quite pleased if their conversation dwindled into the night time. The sky was nice and clear, and when the sun went down the stars would be visible. Without trees all around them, this would be the perfect place to stargaze. Since he had lost his books, the male had struggled with keeping track of the transit of planets, and after a few weeks he was unable to predict their passages at all. Maybe, if they were lucky, Venus or Jupiter would be out. Earlier, the wolf had worried about getting back to AniWaya lands before dark to make sure he found his way, but he was put at ease by having some pleasant company. He would stay the night here, if necessary, or wander back. Even if he got lost, he could find a place to spend the hours before the sun rose and make it back in the morning.

.......Crimson Dreams was not a pack that was familiar to him, but the male was glad to hear that the two were neighbours. A year seemed to be simultaneously a long time and a short time to live somewhere. Hemming had lived by himself for about three years, which made the year seem short, but thinking of it as a quarter of his life so far made a year seem long. Three years, then, was eternity. Too long, perhaps, to be alone, no matter how many books one has.

.......When Anu confessed her embarrassment, he shrugged it off, smiling at her softly. "You should come visit sometime, then. It seems like a very friendly place, so far. I don't really know about the interpack dynamics here, though, so I guess I shouldn't say. Sometimes places have animosities that run so deep nobody knows why they're there in the first place, and yet nobody wants to give them up." His amber eyes fell to the water lapping at his feet. Sentient creatures were funny things.

yes, its torturous

A year was long, long when she thought of all the things that had happened since finding ‘souls again. It was a long time, just from her heart’s perspective. A year to fall in and out of love, and then back in again. The time to have it broken, again and again. Repaired again and again, shaped differently each time the pieced were put back together. A year was an eternity.

He opened the invitation for her to visit Aniwaya, and Anu wanted to believe that she would use it. For an unknown reason it was hard to venture out westward, for her at least. Anu knew the entire area, and had even came close to their boarder, but she hadn’t ventured inside. It was her title that made it her job to keep good pack relations. But personal distractions had taken away from her duty, maybe it was time for her to think of them again and act on them.

I will, now that I know how pleasant it seems. It would have to be, while Hemming was there at least. He was more then nice, he was someone Anu could see as a friend. She thought over his words, giving a small shrug. Its sad that something that is supposed to be family can never act like it. Anu had never understood how so many lived together despite the dysfunction that occurred. She was unsure what kept wolves together that hated each other, when no connection was apparent. But family isn’t perfect either, I guess..

.......Anu was the first inhabitant of these lands he had met since meeting Dawali at the AniWaya border, and she seemed extremely pleasant as well. Hopefully this trend would continue; Hemming liked to think that everyone got along just fine, and he was having a good time wandering and feeling safe. He smiled at the alabaster female's response - or was really just smiling in general - and nodded a little at her final words. It was a little upsetting that you could share a home with many others and not get along, but everyone had different goals and ideals, and ultimately it would likely be those little concepts that would make or break a family group. All of this was idealistic speculation on Hemming's part, though. He hadn't spent much of his time - and certainly not his adult life - in a family situation.

.......Thinking about his own experiences in his birth pack, he stared at the water at his feet again. "No. I suppose nothing is truly perfect." He said this almost optimistically, making waves with his toes. "It's all just degrees of imperfection." After this escaped his lips he looked up at Anu and chuckled about how philosophical their conversation was in danger of becoming. Though he did enjoy his philosophical musings, he had had enough time to do that already. After the adrenaline that had surged through him while they were rescuing the jellyfish, Hemming was excited to experience more of the shore, and after a moment of rest he was ready to go again.

....... "An exception can be made, I think, for this perfect day. Wouldn't you agree?" The male grinned and stood up, ankle deep in water now, and took a few steps out into the ocean before turning around and offering a hand to her. That the rock was fairly high off the ground was not the only reason he did so, and perhaps a longing for contact, and the desire to share some cheer was the true driving force behind this action.

Anu wanted things to be perfect, and loved things that felt like they were perfect. She did not fight to make them so, or push others to become what she believed was right. She only wanted to feel that they could be, that there was hope for something better. His description was something Anu could take to heart, having described her pack as close to perfect in the past. It was obvious now that it only held the smallest degree of imperfection.

The woman watched him, smiled at his laughter and could understand how he was feeling. She was thinking it too, how they moved from the emergency response team they had once been to the stationary theorists they had become. It was a relief when he stood, turning to invite her towards the ocean once again. The female took his hand without hesitation and spoke. Its impossible not to. The words came with cheer in her voice, happy to say that the day was perfect and feeling so. Falling gracefully from the rock she felt the cool water touch her legs once again. She was happy to follow him, how ever deep he wanted to go.

.......Though he would hold what he had said to be true - that nothing was perfect - he would be quite alright with neglecting that thought. There were a few things he could think of that he would not hesitate to call perfect. One could do all the theorizing they liked, but in the end, most of the ideas of this sort developed would not be applied to everyday life. Hemming, though he was quite fond of his ideas, liked to live in the moment.

.......After Anu was off the rock, the male let her hand slip gently out of his and started to wander out deeper into the water. He wasn't a strong swimmer, but when he got to a sufficient depth, he pushed himself off the basement of the sea and began to float on his back. As his body waved back and forth with the waves, he noted that the sky above him was a perfect blue, and that the sea was a perfect temperature.

we could end here, if you want? :]

Blue eyes followed the gray wolf, and she waded into the sea behind him. Giving a single chuckle as he lay against the supportive water and let his body drift. Anu walked a few steps past him, giving a smile and letting the ocean take hold of her form. It held her weight, while she leaned back to drift as he was. She looked upwards catching the color of sky in her similar colored eyes.

Letting the silence float between them Anu felt the water lap into her ears, blocking the sound of the ocean's low tide break against the beach. It was perfect, and for once in a long time she felt as perfect as her surroundings. Her time of insecurity and confusion sat on the rocky beach, waiting for her. But for the moment she would lay in the tide beside her new friend, to be without such burdens and let the ocean hold her weight.
