The rain began pounding against her little body as she walked along the damp ground of her new home. Thoughts of her mother and the incident that changed her life flooded through her mind. Her mother was gone and she had to keep going on without her. Tears flooded through her eyes as these thoughts tormented her. A shot of pain twined itself through her as she reminded herself that her mother wasn't coming back. She couldn't have survived that huge ravenous monster, there was no chance of her return.

These new wolves had given her a new home and a new life. She was very grateful for this, for their compassion and understanding. She was lucky for this. She might not have been so lucky encountering other wolves who weren't as friendly as these. She suddered at the thought of this.

The wind began to pick up at a faster pace... It ruffled her baby fur. She let out a little whine as her stomache growled in response. She hadn't eaten in a long while and it started to take effect on her.

Ooc: Do you mind if I kind of powerplay over Peralia for this moment?

Catherine walked besides the young pup. Rain was soaking her long fur, heritage from her Arctic relatives. It was rather annoying, she wasn't much of a fan of water. The little kid was silent, with a far away mind. She wasn't willing to break her line of thought, but she had to ask something to her. The wind blew stronger, and she whined in complaine. The grayish female couldn't bare to see the kid in this weather. And Tayui's den was too far away for the girl -and herself- to afford it. Without any warning, she grabbed the pup's body to her wet chest, in an attempt to keep it away from the wind. She turned her back to where the wind was coming and bounded lightly over the kid's body, to stop the wind to reach her. Wet fur and wind was the perfect way to get a cold. Don't worry, I'm just getting a ride to my home, she calmed the kid, if it got scared. She would if it had sense of selfprotection. With the other hand, she protected her face. Not sure if Seymour or Bluma would hear her, she whistled loudly, and waited.

Seconds passed, and the peregrine bird flew over them, and she saw the way the gushes of wind were interfering his flight. Right before him, there was Bluma, her mare. The woman knew the kid was afraid of it, but shecouldn't do anything. It was the fastest and safest way to go back to her house. The rain was cleaning all the scents, principaly te ones that led her to her home. Holding tight the pup in her hand, she jumped, settling in the mare's back. The hand that was protecting her face now held a tuft of the chocolate brown mane of the horse. With quick but light kicks the equine's hips, she made it go forward, but she wasn't controling it. Not worried about falling, she waited until the mare went home by her instincts. The mare now reconized where to go to reach to their home. Luckly them.

It didn't take long until she could see the entrance of her den. It was bigger -and warmer- inside. Dismounting the mare with another jump, her ankles aching a bit with the impact. The grayish female walked quickly to the entrance, stepping the three steps of earth stairs. The fire was lit -not sure how, as she left it extincted-, and it was very warm. She placed the pup's body in the ground slowly and carefully. There was no hurry now. Once it was on the ground, the woman reached to a deer's fur and dryed the extra water in her fur. She twisted it and made the water fall in the earthy ground. Crouching, she prepared to dry the pup as well, but waited for the girl's permission, in any way it would come. She had already runned down Peraila's feelings and energy, just by grabbing her around. Are you okay? she asked, caring about the girl. It wasn't her intent to harm it, innerly or outterly.

OOC: I don't mind if you powerplay me for a bit Smile

All of a sudden the young pup was yanked upwards upon the massive creature she watched so carefully before. Her eyes wide in shock but she said nothing, no sound came out from her lips when they opened. She and the older female she accompanied rushed through the trees at as such speed. She was scared, not for her safety but just for things happening so suddenly.

The trip only lasted minutes until they reached where they both were headed. It was an opening in the earth, it was the older females home. Her den was warm inside and she began to relax as an effect. The damp brown ground was comforting in many ways. This meant that she was now safe from the rest of the world for the moment. She liked this thought, it soothed her.

"Your home is very warm and nice," she said with an easy smile to Catherine.

Ooc: ^^ Oh, I'll put a description of her den-cave, so you can have a better idea.

"It was a very, very big den, or a small cave. Using a rough made shovel, she digged it. It must be 16 feet width, 9 feet height, in a circle shape. She had to construct a wooden structure for it don't colapse down. The entrance seemed small, but she could get in crouched, and then stand erect perfectly once inside. There was a fire in the center, under a hole in the surface of the cave, that lead to a dead, hollow tree's trunk, that would work as a chimney and as an entrance for Seymour. The tree's roots reached out of the ceiling, and some were perfects perchs for Seymour. The cave had a carefully made stone floor around the fire and earthy walls and parts on the floor. The bed was made of leaves, leather and fur of different prey, but mostly of elks and deers. Her books and other stuff were kept in wooden shelves attached to the structure. The "door" was the dead tree's bark, that fitted the entrance by inside. As the entrance had a big height from the cave's floor, she made out a few steps of earth."

---

Catherine smiled back to the pup, both to the girl's smile and to her praise of her house. Yes, it was warm inside, and it they would dry in a few minutes. By that, she started to wipe the kid's pelt with the deer fur in her hands. Her moviments were slow, calm and careful, not willing to accidentaly harm her. Seconds passed, the warm and her "towel" already drying up the younger female. Her own pelt was geting dryed up a bit, but still humid. She didn't care at all, since the kid was comfortable and safe. As any other female, she had maternal instincts with puppies. She couldn't help.

Now that the pup was fine, she hung the pelt in one of the tree branches that came out of the den's ceiling, like a clothes line. Seymour was already inside, and he sat right under the pelt, to warm up his feet. The woman grabbed two pieces of wood and threw it on the fire, to increase the warm and light. Then, the grayish woman went to the kid, kneeling on the ground. Are you okay in staying here until the time is better and we can find someone to take care of you? Or do you wanna stay here at all? she asked, leaving the choice on the hands of the kid. She knew what was best for her.

She sat quietly as the female worked about her den. She was gratefull of this female to be where she was now, to have a place to stay. The den was huge and real comfy, it was beyond anything she was used to. She and her mother were always on the move, sleeping where ever they saw fit. A tear rolled down her cheek as she thought about her mother, but she quickly whiped it away before Catherine could see it.

"I wouldn't mind staying here for now," she replied with a gentle smile of appreciation.

"Thank you," the young pup whispered to Catherine. "You are very nice... as is your place... I've never slept somewhere so grand, it's magnificient!" She looked around as she said the last part before looking at the older female again.

Ooc: Too lazy to explaine all the rules XP

Catherine glanced longly to the pup, listening to her agreement of staying there for a while, until she smiled with her whispered praises to her humble house. It took quite of her force and determination, but it worthed the work. Besides, Saw, Seymour and Bluma supported her, giving some hope of sleeping in a warm shelter while it rainned. Of course, it was quite better than sleep in a branch. Whenever the grayish woman needed a rest, she climbed a random tree and slept in any branch, for a nap. No biggy at all.

She went to a pile, covered with a thick caribbou fur. Raising the pelt a bit, she took two average pieces of the meat under. She stabbed it with a stick and placed it upon a support. Kneeling besides the flames, she reached to a short metal pole, mixing the coals to increase the fire. The meat was right under the fire, the clicks and hisses of the flesh cooking and the delicious smell of it filling the cave quickly. Worry not, soon it will be ready to eat, the grown-up female told to the young one, although it was making her go crazy. A distraction would do to help them forgetthe temptation.

Without getting up, she reached to a rough-made wooden box. It was shallow and square, the cover was a light and dark brown checkers, the small squares perfectly made. She slid it and took the dark and light stones, rounded and flat, with little inperfections. Her home-made checkers board and pieces. It was usually herself and Saw that played, but Bluma and Seymour was always glad to cheer for one of them and watch the game. Good as a pastime, for the boring freetimes.

Placing the board in the ground and arranging the pieces corectly, the light for her, the dark for Peralia. When she was done, she looked at the flesh. Still raw. She turned the stick, so the up side was down and vice-versa. Looking back to the young girl, she explained to the kid the game. She almost completely sure that she was too young to know what that meant. This game is called checkers. It's less complicated than chess, but it's still fun, the woman introduced, and pointed to her pieces. You see those? They are my pieces and pointed to the ones near the pup And those are yours. These are the rules... and started to explaine the rules as simply as she could, and less boring she could make it look.

Got it? she asked gently, after she was done. A glance to the meat: not yet, but almost. Waiting to the pup's answer, she turned the stick again.

OOC: sorry I haven't posted for a couple days... I've been really busy

The thick aroma of meat filled the room and the young pups nose. The smell was almost too mouthwatering to wait too long for it to cook all the way. The young pup watched as the older wolf slowly turned the meat, but she had manners and knew to wait. She needed to respect this older female's home. The older wolf told her it wouldn't be too much longer before it would be done and ready to eat. She just needed to have some patients and wait.

Then Catherine turned and pulled out some sort of carved wooden box. She explained to the young pup that it was a game, Checkers. She became a little confused when she saw all the pieces arranged in some order. She mentioned another game called chess that confused her a little more. Catherine then began explaining about the game and the young pup started to understand a little bit.

"A little," the pup replied to Catherines question of if she got it or not. She continued to stare at the game as Catherine turned the meat again.

Ooc: It doesn't really matters the moves, as they will probably be eating by my next turn ^^

Catherine smiled warmly to the kid, encouraging her to focus on the game. It was very tricky, as the smell of the meat cooking getting thicker and thicker. She heard the rain had grown stronger, and she was glad to be home. They would look like they swam, of so soaked wet they would be by now.

She placed her chin in a fist, the elbow in a knee, a thinking position. She started the same way she always did. Moving a piece forward, as said the rules she just explained. The grayish woman glanced quickly to the meat, but the pieces were still semi-raw. The scent was so strong it should be already cooked. Too bad for her nose and mind.

Then, she nooded to the pup, waiting for her move. She wasn't expecting a quick move, as it was the first time she was playing checkers. The female could create any expectation at all. She wasn't that close to the pup to know anything about her. They just met hours ago, but Catherine felt like they were sisters. Such an innocent mind she had.

The aroma of meat filled the entire room around them, it was mouthwatering. This made it very hard for the young pup to consentrate on the game being explained to her. She looked at the pieces and tried to watch carefully as Catherine moved one of her pieces. Catherine then nodded to the pup telling her that it was her turn now. She thought for a moment taking in all that the older wolf had told her before decoding what to do. She moved one of her pieces forward and looked at Catherine waiting for her responce, whether it be approval or dissaproval.

"Did I do it right?" The young wolf asked innocently to the older female. Peraila leaned back from the board to examine it and all the pieces as well. It was very interesting to her, this game. The meat was almost done now and she couldn't wait to try it. She hadn't eaten or drank anything in a while. The thought of water made her notice a dry lump in her throat and looked at Catherine, "Do you have some water?" She mumbled out not trying to be rude in any way.

Catherine looked at the Peraila's move, as she asked if it was right. She smiled after nodding back to the pup, and answered: It's just fine. And nice play... she said, finally noticing that the piece could take hers if she don't put on behind it. She moved the one, protecting it.

She glanced once again to the meat, after her stomach groaned to realize the food was ready. She got up, humming to herself, happy. She looked so much of a child right now. Grabbing another stick, she took one of the pieces and stabbed it with the wood. She gave it to the pup so the girl wouldn'ty burn the paws. The stick that was under the fire was rather hot, and the kid wouldn't be able to handle the heat. She stabbed the cool stick in the earthy ground, so the pup could eat it without touching it.

Be careful, the meat is very hot, she warned the pup warmly, sensing the warm around the flesh, as she neared it to her mouth. She blew it twice, before the pup could ask for water. The grayish woman stabbed her own stick in the ground before stretching her arm toward the jars not far away from her. She was lucky to had filled the jars in the river this morning. She grabbed a bow as well, which she filled with water and handled it to the kid. She was being the most hospitable she could be, counting with her delimited resources, and other things. Besides, the pup had got apart with her mother. The young female told they met a bear. Dangerous, deadly beasts they were. It pratically impossible for one single wolf survive long against an enraged bear. That poor female was dead by now. Catherine tried not to think about it. The pup could notice her morbid thoughts.

Smile

Catherine complimented Peraila's move and the young pup smiled excitedly at herself and the older wolf. "Thank You... this is really fun," Peraila exclamed as Catherine gave her a piece of meat and warned her that it was very hot. The young pup watched patiently as Catherine went and got a bowl and some water for them to drink. Peraila was very thirsty and tried to remain patient, she didn't want to be rude by slopping it down messily.

Peraila blew gently on her chunk of meat trying to cool it off. She was pretty hungry but she didn't want to burn her mouth in the process. She took a nibble off an end to test it out, it was still really hot. She continued to cool it down as Catherine brought the water and set it down in front of them. The pup smiled at Catherine to show her much appreciation for the older female hospitality.

"You are really nice," the pup stated with another kind, sweat smile. She didn't know if she'd ever be able to repay Catherine for everything she is doing for her.

Ooc: --

Catherine smiled back at the pup's thanks for her hospitality. She was always glad to help the others.

The meat was getting cooler as she kept blowing it. The grayish female noticed that the pup was doing as her. She knew it was a rather common thing, puppies imitating the olders, to learn things quicker and better. Almost an instinct. So, she didn't care at all to have the kid mimicking her.

She took a tiny nibble of her own piece. Even being so hot, it was still tasteful. A bigger nibble. The heat nearly burned her mouth, but she could take it. Swallowing, she gasped, coughed, trying to clear her throath, but not being very dramatic. It went down burning! That's it: she'd have to wait a bit more. She looked to the pup, with an half embarassed, half naive glare.

Cuiosity killed the cat... and burned my throath, she joked, trying to make a funny with the situation. That was a rough lesson she learned, and she hoped the girl did learn something with it. Otherwise, Peralia would have to learn it later, and by herself as well. The woman wished it never happened to that kid, neither to anyone else.

The pup drank the water slowly and quietly. It was suspectful. There's no need to be polite, sweetie.

OOC: sorry I haven't posted for a while... things get pretty busy over here.

The young pup continued to blow on the really hot meat, mimicking the older female, Catherine. It made sense that the chunk would be hot, especially after it was being cooked on a hot open flame for soo long. It would be foolish to think someone could eat it right away. Peraila watched intently at Catherine as she bit into her piece of meat to see if she could eat hers yet. The young pup couldn't help but giggle a little when Catherine took a bigger bite and made a face because it was hot. She tried not to be rude, she just couldn't keep it in. It felt good for her to laugh, she hadn't in such a long time, it was nice.

"Sorry... I couldn't help it."The young pup tried to explain just as Catherine made a joke and made the situation even funnier. The pup laughed again then smiled childishly at the female. "You are really cool." The young pup exclamed with a friendly smile.

Peraila then looked away and continued to blow at her meat to cool it off. It would be a while till she could be able to eat it.

Occ: that's okay^^ hehe new table by me XD

The pup laughed at her naiveness. It made her smile. There was nothing better to lit the day up than the laughter of a child. So innocent, so cuddly, so impossible to resist...

That's alright. I'm a bit clumsy sometimes, Catherine explained. And her smile grew wider and warmer as the pup praised her coolness. That one was kind of new. The grayish woman never knew that she could be cool. It was good to know.

The rain seemed to get thinner. Maybe the two females could find a better looking day, the flowers and grass shinning with the water drops hanging at them. That perfect scenery right after the rain. That would boost up their day. Maybe the pup could see a light in the tunnel, to help her, guidding her toward a new life in the tribe.

OOC: Love ur new table Smile

The young pup smiled warmly at Catherine. She noticed that she could no longer hear the rain pouring outside. She looked outside passed the entrance of the den to see that it had stopped. Another smile stretched wide across Peraila's face. Play time!!!

Peraila Looked back towards Catherine. "It stopped raining!."She almost shouted though the older female probably already knew that.

"It all looked so beautiful."The young pup stated as she stared off into the water wonderland before her. Peraila loved to play in water and now it was all around her, everywhere. She looked back at Catherine again as if asking her if they could play.

Occ: Thankies^^

Catherine watched, her meat on the stick letting out a slight smoke. The young girl smiled, as she seemed to notice, glad, that the rain had went away. Always so good to see a kid smiling...

The child ran toward the door, rather ignoring the food. Yes, the outside was as the grayish woman had predicted. And with a cherry in the top! There was pools all around them, some more muddy, others almost as clear as the water she had stored. The youngster looked at her with pleading eyes. What could the older female do? She nodded, consenting, and started to shift.

It didn't take long before she was on the lupus form, ready to play along with the girl's limitations, as a non-shifter by age. She didn't doubted that the pup would shift someday. But not now, as her age didn't alow it yet. She trotted slowly to where the pup stood, wenting to a more clean pool; she wasn't that willing to get all dirty with mud. She splashed the water with the wagging fluffy tail, that hitted the ground hardly. The wolfess made a playful pose, calling the pup to play along with her.
