___ His trip to the doors of the Inferni clan was simply based in the small hope that Sirius had been thinking along a similar line as Apollo. The other Haddix boy had once left Apollo and his father so that he could join ranks with the coyotes of the clan. Apollo, however, wasn’t allowed to join, no matter how much he had wanted to. Though the brothers were of the same litter, their blood was not the same. Apollo was the only boy to truly carry Haddix blood, so perhaps it was appropriate that Sirius had been given Physe’s last name.

___ The northeastern borders of Inferni were less than ten miles from the lake home where Apollo had decided to stay. The walk was easy enough, and he had done it several times now (though had always circled around the clan’s territory). When he arrived, he felt a similar pang in his stomach that he had experienced when stopping by AniWaya. This, however, was slightly different. He wasn’t sure how the coyotes would act the Apollo’s appearance there, but he was just so curious about what had happened to his brother.

Zana had been stalking rattlesnakes in the bushes along the borders, she knew the snakes were deadly but the venom in her darts were twice as worse. She'd learned that the hides of your kill could be tanned and made into usable materials and she loved the patterned scales of the snakes, as well, their own toxins could contribute to her deadly collection of herbal poisons. She had already captured and killed two of the large snakes, the buzz of their rattles amused her to no end and every once in a while she shook the bag that held their dead corpses to hear the rat-a-tat of their buzzers.

The girl cackled to herself as she caught sight of one one, perched up on a stone sunning itself in the warmth the day offered. She abandoned the bag of death and loaded one of the deadliest darts that she owned, readying herself to kill the beast who would oneday become a nice little jacket for her. The snake caught sight and scent of the small girl as he began to pull himself back to strike, the rattling warning calling out loudly as she waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Mere seconds before the snake spat at her the sharp dart caught home on the snake's throat, the dart barely able to prick between the scales but still the poison had done it's job as she watched the form slowly slip, the tight coil of muscles giving way as the end came for the beast.

She let out a happy high pitched cackle as she poked at the dead beast with a stick, knowing that even after death they could still strike and move. Pinning down the beast's head she pulled out the little tiny mason jars she had been using to keep her poisons in, the one she'd milked the venom from the last two rattlers was easy to fine, the yellow white syrup inside making her eyes sparkle as she picked the large head of the snake up and began to milk the deadly serum of death from the beast. She was so involved in her work that she hadn't even noticed how close she was to the intruder to the edge of the clanlands.

___ Though Apollo had seen Sirius the first time he had left Nova Scotia, it hadn’t been since the year before. He wondered if his brother had come back, or if he was still out in some other place of the world trying to find whatever it was that he needed to find. Though he had never really gotten along with Sirius, Apollo did care about his well being.

___ At the hiss of a rattle snake, Apollo raised the mismatched eyes to scan along the border. He had preoccupied himself with retying his bandana, and realized that perhaps it would be better if he stayed alert. Inferni, after all, had its reputation. The sound stopped, but Apollo could easily hear the not too distant sounds of rustling in the low grasses. "Hello?" He called out, wondering whether it was a clans member or another small creature, as the girl’s scent had yet to reach him.

The sound of another's voice caused her to flick her ears back as she twisted the cap back on the jar and dropped the rattlesnake in the sack before moving through the brush and appearing close at hand to where the stranger was standing. She raised her miniature form up from the grasses and glared at the male, he was not an Inferni member and she doubted that he was here on business, what business did a wolf have with the clan.

She wrapped her little fingers around the peashooter and let her ears perk up as she asked, "What do you want, Wolf.." her dislike for the creature clear as day as her little ribbon wrapped tail twitched back and forth as she waited for his answer. Give her the wrong one and he'd find himself with a dart in his rump, give her the right one.. and she might wait til he was leaving before she launched a dart in his ass. It depended on her mood, and right now she had things to be doing instead of talking to the worthless creature before her.

___ Apollo was surprised at the coyote who ended up greeting him at the borders. With what he had heard and seen of Inferni, he hadn’t quite expected a little girl coming to find him. Inferni didn’t have anyone else they could send to do their errands? Did they make all of their children do such subordinate tasks? Apollo stifled a chuckle, noting the distaste drenching her words. It was hard to take the girl serious, even with the simple weapon in her hand. The mismatched eyes studied the ribbon wrapped tail for a moment, before Apollo decided he’d answer. "D’you know Sirius?" He had no clue if his brother lived here or not, or whether or not this little squirt would have any idea either. He could only hope.

She narrowed her eyes at the simpering of a chuckle were attempting to escape from the male. She didn't think that she liked him one bit but he just went on as though there was no real problem between them. She wondered if he knew the truth about the clan or if he was just stupid, she figured that it was the second guess. Crossing her arms before her she frowned at the male and waited for him to talk, when he finally did it made the frown deepen. "What would a wolf wanna know about a member of this clan." she asked, figuring that this Sirius had once been a clan mate for she hadn't met the character recently and she knew most everyone in the clan by now.

Her tail flicked back and forth, the ribbons snapping quickly as she watched the male, waiting for an answer or to see if he was going to change the subject. She wondered if he was a distraction of some sort and if perhaps there were wolves close by trying to get into the clan lands. She turned her eyes from the male for a second as she glanced about.. hoping that he did something stupid thatway she had a reason to end his worthless wolf life.

___ The tone of her words did not change, but Apollo hadn’t expected it to. He wasn’t sure why, but it was hard for him to keep a straight face. The threat of chuckling loomed near, but he was able to suppress any laughter. Perhaps it was the girl’s small stature that really got him; she seemed to think she was so tough. He was sure he could take her, with or without his preferred knife. "I want to know whether or not he still lives here," Apollo replied bluntly, searching her face for some sort of clue. He couldn’t tell by her words if she did or didn’t know him, but why would she say ‘a member of the clan’ had Sirius not been living there? He was sure he could feel his pulse quicken beneath the soft ivory fur.

Zana's ears pricked forward as the male seemed to think that what she spoke was music to his ears. She grinned a devilish little smile as she swung the sack of rattlesnakes back and forth as she gave off a rather girlish giggle. "Who? No wolves live here." she said, it was rather obvious that the male before her was a wolf and she knew for a fact that there were no wolves in Inferni. None at all.

The small girl smiled at the male again as she moved a few steps closer as she tugged the bag along. "Wanna see what I got?" she asked, maybe if the male was stupid enough she could get close enough to stab him with the poisonous fangs of one of the dead rattlers. She really was a wicked little thing, but the prospects of killing the wolf were so exciting!
