Tokyo

He felt restless. Always. There were insects crawling underneath his skin, driving him insane. The Lilium of Dahlia had only one son remaining in his possession. Conor had fled and not come back, and after a quick investigation, the failed father had found the boy’s scent leading to Alexey’s house. All the man had to say about that was ‘good riddance’. He had never been carved out to be a father, and so he no longer attempted to pretend. It was useless. They were still living in Dahlia, strengthening the pack’s number. This was the only thing that mattered, a fact that could reveal to an extent how cold and emotionless the Dahlian secui really was.

Dark clouds gathered in the horizon. He could taste the unshed rain on his tongue, could almost smell the refreshed air that would remain after the sky had scattered its rain over the world beneath. Although relatively close to the southeast borders, the male was not in the mood for border patrol. Kol and Drey had vanished. Everyone that had an important part to play vanished or turned weak. There was rage within his body, although it was buried deep, slowly growing. Frustration. Aggravation. Things seemed to slowly drift apart, refusing to be controlled. It was rather annoying. The secui slowly moved through the tall grass, wondering if the rabbit further ahead knew that death was close by.

Twenty-one days. Three weeks. Tokyo knew this number well, because she was crazy intelligent and had marked every day that passed in her den. Three weeks was how long she had decided she was supposed to stay put, letting her wounds heal, seeing no one but her daughter. Once the pain had mostly receded, it was actually sort of pleasant. She was able to talk a lot with Princess; sure, mostly about trivial things, but it was still nice to have good company like that. They were close, and it made Tokyo really happy to think on their relationship. There had been some lazy days spent fishing, just out on a nearby dock, messing around with human tools and eventually just settling on tried and true methods.

Her wounds had mostly scabbed up healthily, and the scabs were even flaking off on the edges now. The sores on her belly, imposed by the pied males' claws, had become slightly infected, but they were small enough that it was more uncomfortable and itchy than seriously dangerous. Bandages, fresh and clean, still stood out on her right shoulder, wrapped behind her neck and under her belly and pressing down her unusually silky looking fur. It was a bit uncomfortable, but better than having a loose branch or anything catching on the wound, and dear God, causing it to bleed again. That was one of the worst elements of the whole experience, really. All the blood getting all over her fur. Ugh. So she was, of course, incredibly careful about the scabs.

And now, three weeks were done, and her self-imposed period of rest was over. So Tokyo had wandered southerly from her private coastline, meandering into the central parts of the territory. Her cool blue gaze caught on movement through the grasses before her. She tensed instinctively before processing that the thing was predator, not prey. A wolf. She had made a similar mistake a bit ago, but in her opinion it was more excusable because little puppies at a quick glance really could pass for rats. An inspection of the scent: he was the male that had called the pack meeting a couple months back. She thought about speaking, but decided to wait and see how the hunt played out. Also, it was probably rude to scare away his dinner (which she probably hadn't done yet, seeing as she approached from the direction opposite that which he was heading).

The man was not hungry, but because of his general limits that made him unable to do what he wanted, he had realized that there were other ways to release some of that uncomfortable pressure that too quickly seemed to build up lately. He was getting worse. His eyes were glued to the rabbit, an intense hunger in his eyes. Not the usual kind of hunger, that was. He lowered his stance very slowly, tensing his muscles. The animal seemed pathetically oblivious to the predator that was so close. Slowly, he took a step forwards. Jaws parted slightly to let his tongue taste the air, preparing to drown in the delicious taste of blood. Lillith had triggered a wicked desire in him. He had realized that it helped when he had no other way of lighten himself up. Excitement flooded through him. Then it stopped.

As his eyes never left the rabbit, he sensed that another set of eyes had found the scene. Found him. He drew a soundless breath through his nostrils, but was left with nothing. His body had not reacted to the realization that he was not alone, and so continued on. The male went for the kill, but made the mistake of making a sound straight before his fangs lashed out for the creature, and once aware of the large predator right behind it, the rabbit fled. Haku did not follow. Instead he lifted his head and looked around, and she was not hard to find. The way he had lost to the smaller prey had seemed perfectly natural, and his paws shifted, to face the woman properly. He knew who this woman was, but they had never formally met.

His brilliant blue reached out to find a similar eye colour. He’d rather not want witnesses to what he had wanted to do. He should not hunt in Dahlia de Mai, the lands were too packed with wolves. He waited for the other wolf to do a first potential move.

meh post, sorry D: 249 words

Annnd there went the rabbit. The brown wolf had messed up, made a noise, and scared off the potential meal. Tokyo understood how much that sucked - she was not a very good hunter herself, and usually didn't bother with rabbits unless they literally stumbled across her path. Sometimes mice were okay, if she was bored and felt like chewing on something, or starving enough that anything was worth it. Fish were the best, though, because with all the splashing around in the water with Princess it was easy enough to forget what she was doing was work. Fishing wasn't about the typical stealth; you merely became very, very still until something wandered close enough. No worries about crackling twigs or dried leaves or anything.

"Shame about that rabbit," Tokyo gestured her head in the vague direction the animal had ran. "Hope I didn't distract you or anything." She wasn't sure if he had noticed her while he was still hunting. He hadn't made any movement to indicate so, but he had turned around pretty quickly towards her. Well, it didn't really matter. "I'm Tokyo Chance, and I know you're one of our leaders but I don't remember your name." Pretty blunt, but that was just how she was. She probably should have folded back her ears, or lowered her tail or something, but meh. It was enough that her tail was held comfortably level, her ears slightly tilted back. A relaxed, comfortable body posture, shouting neither dominance nor submission.

He only gave a court nod as she first spoke. Yes, but it would not be hard to find a new prey. The Lilium still wondered what had happened to the small fox cub that had been one of his rare special victims. Haku had slowly found ways that helped him gain more control over his own actions, and had dived into the act eagerly. Pain and despair soothed his wild heart, for some odd reason. The man was well aware of what he was doing would be portrayed as wrong by the rest of the world. Frankly, he did not want to care, but his position demanded him to care, because it could so easily screw up everything. He knew it was Conor that had released the small animal, but he knew not what had become of it afterwards. Idiot kid probably kept the half dead thing as a pet.

”No, you did not distract me.” the brown male lied smoothly, allowing the corners of his lips to curl slightly upwards to hint a smile. He knew her name, but stayed silent as she introduced herself. ”I am Haku Soul.” he replied, keeping his gaze on her. She had an appealing appearance, and eyes slightly lighter and a bit less intense than his own. The good, bright summer sky’s colour. The man slightly cocked his head as he took in the sight of her, wondering how it would feel like to touch. ”You have beautiful eyes, you know.” the male suddenly said, letting his intense gaze find her eyes, wondering what kind of creature she was hiding behind those brilliantly blue pools.

It had been too long since last time he had showed proper interest in his pack and its individuals. He was far behind on his job, but that did not necessarily mean that he would have to suffer while doing so.

If Tokyo had known what Haku had been planning to do with the rabbit, she honestly wouldn't have cared too much. Well, she would have found it pretty weird, because it seemed like a waste of good food, but everyone had their quirks. She didn't really care too much for all those lower animals. What was the difference, really, between eating one and causing it a bit of pain before killing it? It was dead either way. Serving it's function to serve the more intelligent canines, in amusement if not sustenance. But she didn't know, and thus she was glad to hear that she hadn't distracted him. Tokyo decided to believe him, because she certainly would have been annoyed had someone interrupted her from her meal and he was acting pleasant enough towards her.

Oh, what? This was Haku? Tokyo's mind flitted back towards her encounter with Firefly on the beach. It was hard to recognize the image that had been lurking in the back of her mind of some sort of evil demon terrorizing the poor pretty Firefly with this pleasant, smooth, chocolate male. It was hard, but she decided to stick with the more pleasant one. After all, her conversation with Firefly had happened months ago, and this was the present. Whatever charm the other girl had possessed, being outside of it's immediate influence allowed Tokyo to more easily doubt the stories that she had told. Also, he thought her eyes were pretty. Compliments were an incredibly easy way to get on Tokyo's good side, and she immediately brightened, liking the male much more instantly.

"I've been told as much before," she purred before graciously concluding, "But it's still nice to hear, thank you." She settled back on her haunches, careful to keep a good posture, making sure her front paws lined up exactly perfectly before her. "Oh, I've heard of you. Ran into Firefly on the beach, and she, uh, had some choice words to throw at your name." Tokyo grinned at the words she spoke, trying to demonstrate exactly how much stock she now put in Firefly's condemnation.

He looked at the delicate female, the pleasant smile lingering on his lips. He wondered if he was able to actually see her lighten up slightly when the compliment reached her light chocolate ears. Her words only caused his smile to widen. Oh, so compliments were not a rare treat for this woman. His tongue slowly traced the back of his teeth as he watched the woman relax and sit back. He was unused to such a pleasant meeting with a stranger. Usually, they knew who he was and they did not like it. This woman however, she did not seem to hesitate when his name was revealed. He appreciated that little thing. Although he was a beast that did as he pleased without taking other individuals into consideration, he quickly became weary of all the suspicion and talking behind his back. With his current position in the pack hierarchy, this was not at all ideal. Her perfect posture did not pass by unnoticed. The man could feel a warm sensation tickle his spine. He did not know her well, so this could easily be one of her many characteristics, but he liked to see her awareness in his presence.

The next words served by the female were not that ideal. ”Let me guess. I’m a cheating, bloody bastard etcetera etcetera?” he openly wondered, keeping the warmth in his eyes. He was tempted to immediately tell the tale about how Firefly nearly killed Conor because her staged kidnapping had not gone exactly according to the plan. He had no issues with sinking down to his ex mate’s level, but he wondered if he could create an image of merit by not doing so. His facial expression suggested curiosity, an amuse version of it. After all, Firefly had the worst reputation overall in Dahlia de Mai, so he could not say he felt insulted by this fact that his former lover had run around spreading some dirt. She was useless.

Honestly, Tokyo didn't know what all this fuss was about cheating. If she ever got a mate - something that was, honestly, less than an ideal prospect, she should be able to do whatever she wanted with whoever she wanted. If they loved her, they would understand. Champ, unfortunately, turned out to not actually loved her enough, as one brief (and unpleasant!) tryst with Raphael had been enough to drive her gentle childhood companion away. Although, ew, it wasn't like she would actually want to do anything like that with anyone again. It had been gross, and painful, and uncomfortable. And then puppies!

Sex had basically ruined her life, and she had sworn off ever doing so again. Not like that would actually be a hard promise to keep to. It was like forbidding oneself from jumping off cliffs, or chewing rocks. Who the hell would want to? But it was the principle of things! In a relationship, Tokyo would have to have freedom to do3what she wanted. And she probably wouldn't even care if the guy did other women, as long as he was properly attentive and loving. It didn't really cross her mind that she would be hard-pressed to keep any lover without actually.. doing any loving. But regardless, it was completely and utterly a non-issue at the moment. Although as flattering as Haku seemed to be, and as highly ranked as he was within the pack (power was attractive), Tokyo thought as far as mates go he wouldn't be a bad one. Hah, the way her fancies flew out of hand (and contradicted themselves, even) at just a compliment and a smile!

"Basically. More emphasis on the taking-her-puppies than the cheating-bloody-bastard, although there was definitely a little of that too. Is she gone, now? Haven't seen her around." Tokyo was pretty slow to pick up on gossip and news as far as what went down with her pack. Her tail flicked lazily, brushing off a stray fly attempting to land on the appendage. Tokyo was still acting unusually pleasant - at least unusual if you consider the fact that she basically believed what Firefly said, and just didn't really care that much. It seemed much more likely that she just thought Firefly a liar, which was pretty much not the case.

(500) I've gone around thinking I would not have the time to post at Souls, but like, it seems like I'm getting paid for just sitting around at a desk doing nothing! Big Grin wheee!

He kept his gaze on her, slowly dancing through the form of her delicately framed face. Her attitude was rather pleasing, and the male pondered if he would be able to stage some coincidences that could lead to his advantage in every way. Mingling with pack members had never been a good thing. Trouble would always break the surface, either this way or another. Haku was not a lonely creature, especially not after his standards. Not when Lillith had unexpectedly re-entered his life. It was odd. They had been reunited in a way that made him shallowly ponder if there was such a thing as destiny and faith. He believed in angels and demons, but not fully. He knew the taint in him was something dark and evil, and he knew of individuals that were connected to spirits on the other side. Yet, he had always sternly believed that he was the sole master of his life as long as he was still the one in charge of his own body. He did not know when he would wake up and be something else. He did not know when his soul would die. He just knew that it would happen.

He snickered silently at the fresh words from the female. Yes, it was true that he was accused for taking the two boys. Truth be told, he had not truly wanted to have them back. He had wanted them partly because they belonged to him and had been taken away (he could not let such a move pass without action) and because he knew that it would hurt the woman that once had been his mate. He wished pain upon those lowly individuals. Haku divided others into two main categories: Worthy and then not so worthy. It had nothing to do with a creature’s actual skills, but only his own twisted opinion of them and what he had seen. Gabriel de le Poer was an enemy that wished death upon him. However, the leader of Inferni was a worthy being. A creature of pride and perhaps also justice in its own way. Firefly had no style, no self-control. Nothing.

”Yes, that is correct. They were given to me by the Rosea, so obviously I’m the sole bad guy. I’m quite sure she forgot to mention that her little kidnapping stunt caused one of the children to almost die.” He kept up that pleasant smile, unable to feel the sting of any words that had been delivered by Firefly in the past. She was so much talk and action, but she lacked the intelligence and wits to get away with anything. This was why she was not a part of Dahlia anymore. ”She was kicked out together with a snotty girl called Svara Thames. It’s not a big loss.” the man replied to her question, wondering if the woman had meant anything to the Chance woman. ”We cannot have retards in our pack.” he added as an afterthought, believing in what he said. In quite some ways, both of the banished females had been mentally challenged. There was something wrong inside their heads that made them believe that they were worth a damn.

getting paid for doing nothing is totally awesome, that was most of my last summer, rofl. it made me feel very guilty sometimes though, because i couldnt understand why i was earning money for doing so. XD; 526 words

The Rosea assisted in the kidnapping of the puppies as well. The hostility between the white figure she'd seen at the pack meeting and pretty female Tokyo had spoken with later made sense then. She really liked that - figuring out details that explained things she didn't understand about the past. The puzzle pieces, identified and lying scattered, clicking together, more of the picture revealed with each piece. One of the still-unmet kids (she briefly remembered telling Firefly that she'd seek them out and pass on their mother's well-wishes - but oops, she had forgotten) had almost died, too? Terribly tragic. Tokyo had had more in common with Firefly than she had figured at that meeting between them; Firefly had accidentally almost killed a child, and Tokyo had accidentally killed three. She preferred to think of it as an accident, even though it was as intentional as closing her jaws around their tiny skulls or necks, crushing them with the powerful grip of an adult. She hadn't been in a good state of mind, and rereading the journal Champ had left had just pissed her off so much... But she was glad beautiful, intelligent Princess had been smart enough to get to safety. It was definitely a shame, though, that she had dragged the tiny, ugly runt Buttface with her.

Tokyo briefly knew of Svara; she had been having a bad asthma attack, and the other female had provided her with some herbs. They hadn't talked much at all, and the silky female didn't care that much to hear they were gone. What her mind did latch on to, however, was the fact that Svara and Firefly had been kicked out. It was confirmation that the leaders actually did such a thing, instead of just possessing the power and not using it - which Tokyo had seen in a few situations in her day. "That's terrible! Endangering the life of her own child, really now. As a mother myself, I can't understand how she'd be able to live with herself after that." The irony of such a statement being said by a soul stained by much worse crimes did not escape her; she actually found it highly amusing, and had to work to keep her voice from expressing the humor she felt.

"No, not a big loss at all." Tokyo mused agreeably, then let a brief pause in the conversation occur before continuing, curiously: "What'd you see in Firefly, anyway?" She of course had her own answer to that question. Firefly was fucking beautiful. But obviously there had to have been something between Haku and Firefly (for all the disdain in his voice), if he had liked her enough to want to have, ew, sex. Or maybe sex was just more enjoyable if you were a guy than if you were a girl. That would make sense, because Raphael sure as hell didn't stop when she tried to make him. And he had even come back later, acting like he wanted to talk, but probably just wanting more of beautiful Tokyo. She had shown him - made her intentions very clear - chased him off her lands.

(500) Totally

Well, the leaders definitely should have done something earlier about the two banished individuals. Even Haku thought so. The Lilium rarely thought back and pondered about things that had and had not happened, but both Firefly and Svara were two of the rare exceptions. Things had gone disgustingly far with both of them, yet still they had not been kicked out. A dangerous, yet fleeting emotion was visible in the man’s blue eyes as he thought back at those scenes and situations where Firefly and Svara should have had their heads cut off. If he had been the supreme leader of the pack, they would have been thrown out. Eventually, he had overruled the Rosea and just kicked Svara out and told her to never come back, but Cercelee too had agreed when he had revealed his deed to her. Such snotty and arrogant creatures both of the women had been.. Yes, it was always the women. Did they really believe that they were better than the rest when it was so obvious that it was the complete opposite?

The secui nodded along with Tokyo’s words. Truth be told, he had been angry for another reason than that his children had been in danger. No, they had been stolen from him. The blame as well had been attempted thrown at him, and the male never allowed such challenges to be left standing. He was a proud creature, and when challenged, an extremely dangerous one. Firefly had deserved death, but the way she had been banished from the pack by the Rosea herself had been very pleasurable to watch. ”Well, proof enough that she was not much of a mother” the boy’s father replied despite being one of the most horrible fathers around. Perhaps if the two wolves had known the truth about each other, there could have been laughter. Haku did not know about Tokyo’s deeds, but he would have found it funny and entertaining more than anything else. It would have made him like the woman even more. Perhaps because it would reveal that she was somewhat similar to him.

Her last question was a difficult one, because he truly had no answer other than: ”She was pretty to look at, I guess.” the male replied dully, refusing to admit both to the woman and himself that he had believed there had been love. Perhaps she had loved him, but he had not truly loved her. He was incapable of such a thing. There had been lust and desire, but the man had not been able to keep his hands away from willing beauties, which was what had caused Firefly to explode so violently in the first place. The man shrugged, not knowing what else to say. ”Although you, pretty Tokyo, seem to be something completely different, yet not at all less beautiful. I assume the males must crowd around you like children around the candy.” he continued, intending to charm her to death. She was truly a pretty one, and her appearance was unique and delicate. He would not have minded spending some quality time with someone like her.

wanna wrap this one up and have another one in a lil bit? i think after tokyo finds out from cercelee that princess was "kicked out" she'll be really pissed and probably try and appeal to haku XD;. and at some point they should totally figure out somehow that they're both really not very good people, rofl. 397 words

Oh, flattery flattery flattery! Tokyo especially enjoyed hearing about how she was as beautiful as Firefly, and apparently way more awesome as well. She had actually worried about that fact a lot when she encountered the other female - wondering if maybe she had competition for being the prettiest wolf in Dahlia de Mai. Even now, though, even after it was revealed that her main competitor was no longer welcome within the lands, it was still incredibly nice to hear that she was better looking. Well, technically Haku had said she "wasn't less attractive" or something, but what he had really meant was Tokyo was prettier. That's why he had included the earlier stuff, about how she was completely different. And not only was she getting high compliments from someone she sort of liked so far, but he was a leader. This was so fucking awesome. With this sort of thing happening, she'd worm her own way up the ranks before she knew it, making it easier and easier to get away with slacking on any duties but reaping the benefits of pack life all the same..

"Oh, well, you know.." The high flattery had actually managed to make her lose her careful composure. Or was she still just playing the part of morality and virtue? Modesty was highly valued, and it was expected for a female to blush and giggle delightfully on words of praise. Even the little part of her mind that was always kept detached, always kept as an observer of the scene didn't know for sure whether it was acting or not. Really, though, it didn't matter too much one way or the other. "There have been a fair number with, ah, a sweet tooth." Tokyo mixed the simile with the original statement, staying intentionally vague as to what she meant. Leaving it up for interpretation, hoping that he'd assume it meant whatever would make her look best in his eyes. "None quite so charming as you, though, my dear leader." As amusing as this whole encounter was, a vague sense of danger and discomfort lurked. Tokyo felt a bit too much like she was playing a dangerous game, like she was pushing this flirting a little too far for her own good. She should probably leave, soon, if he ever stopped complimenting her long enough for her to bear to tear herself away.

He wondered if this actually proved how easy some individuals could be played. She seemed to suck in and swallow everything he said, baffling with her eyebrows and quietly (and perhaps unconsciously) posing. Well, truth be told, Haku’s words were no lies. If there was one thing he would give his ex mate, it was that yes, she was extraordinary beautiful. Only in flesh though, but the mentality had been weak and rotten. She had believed she had been so great and believed she was a deity of another world. Tokyo too, seemed far from ordinary. She did not have the unique, warm colours or the most impressive eyes, but it was the combination of harmony in her features that made her exceptional. Not to forget her unique marking. Yes, Haku seemed to quite enjoy letting his eyes rest on her. He liked the way he responded to his words. That it might only be because of his standing in the pack, he did not care. Haku liked attention from women, because he liked what they could offer him of physical pleasure.

When she started cooing sweet compliments back, the man only smiled and seemed to be on his way to blush red as well. He could play about as well. ”I’m sure you’re the charming one of us, miss.” he tempted, his face and general body language so warm and different from his normal way of being that it almost felt ridiculously fake. Perhaps it should end with this. She had obviously received a positive impression, and he would make sure to attempt to get farther next time the two met. Haku wanted forbidden fruit once again. ”Unfortunately, my dear, I will have to leave you. A man’s duty, I dare say, to protect the lovely doves from garbage life from the outside.” He was talking about border patrol. There had been so many idiot trespassers this last half year, and he wanted her to stand left dreaming about his handsome face and beautiful eyes. He left her then, slowly making his way towards the borders with a tail wagging contently .
