hover through the fog and filthy air

A thick blanket of condensation blew from the south, repelling unwanted visitors from the ashen femme's sanctuary. Darkness reigned; it was the ideal night to commit homicide. Teal-colored orbs were visible amidst the haze, tiny flames flickering in the obscurity. There was complete silence aside from a nearby owl’s unearthly chant. It was so fitting, all of it. One key element was missing though; her blue-eyed hellion, the wicked beast feared by many. She had meticulously planned everything out; the outcome of her game plan depended solely on his ability to execute orders. The madwoman had fate in him; Haku’s inner demons made him the perfect hitman.

She could only hope for the best. Failure was not an option. If everything went according to plan, Lillith had every intention of rewarding him. This was a trial of some sort; success would certainly bring forth many opportunities. She yearned to have him by her side; the Lilium would become the partner she’d never had. Her gaze swept across the woodlands, scanning the vicinity for any movement. Doing so was useless though, given the circumstances she was presented with. The alarming amount of mist shrouding the area reduced visibility to zero. Her flair was also overshadowed, not by the cloudy fog, but by the strong aroma of eucalyptus.

Common sense coaxed her senses north, in the general direction of Dahlia de Mai. Unless he’d come from elsewhere, he would more than likely emerge from that neck of the woods. Haku had the element of surprise in this case, no doubt about it. Pressing her back to an oversized tree trunk, Lillith patiently awaited her beau’s arrival.

His face was carved in stone, but the intense blue in his eyes seemingly glowed in the darkness as the Dahlian male made his way through the light vegetation. There was barely any sound in the quiet night air. His own, oversized paws made no sound. He had learned how to move like a ghost long time ago. An owl hooted quietly from above, but there was little else that distracted his sensitive ears. There were only the lightest breaths through the forest, an almost nonexistent breeze. The circumstances would be perfect for hunting more intelligent creatures. The secui made sure to stay focused, leaving that unpleasant yet desirable thought behind. The cocoa man knew little of what was awaiting him in the pitch black, but he knew it would be worth it. He had not seen her since the day she had drained him for blood, and he had been reborn to stand by her side, seeking the same pleasures as her.

His pace brought him further south, and Dahlia de Mai was temporarily left behind and forgotten. A deep inhale brought a weak hint of an intoxicating perfume, revealing her presence. The beast’s eyes glinted excitedly as he slowed his pace ever so slightly, hoping to find her before she found him. He had an excellent night vision, but she had the coat of the night and wore the colour well. No doubt she could sense his presence too by now. He found the shadow by the tree, but the shadow could also see him. The large secui did not change his pace, and executed the short distance quickly, stopping up in front of her in a similar manner of an obedient guard dog. She should do well to not treat him as such though, because there was a wilder beast locked up inside.

A very slight breeze stirred leaves every now and then, nothing out of the ordinary. But as time went by, anticipation crept over her; a presage of some sort. She could feel him getting closer, although there was so substantial proof to back up said feeling. The night was abnormally quiet; her breathing seemed louder than it really was, and the voices in her head drowned out nature’s melody. As her beau emerged from the darkness, an unexpected gust of wind swept through the area. Leaves rustled back and forth, proclaiming the arrival of the blue-eyed daemon. A rare smile crept onto her lips as he closed in on the distance between them, his pace brisk yet steady.

The dangerous twinkle in his eyes made up for his silence; indirectly confessing the excitement bubbling inside of him. One of her hands cruised over the scar on his neck, examining the wound she’d willingly inflicted him with. Her touch was as light as a feather, almost caring, as she caressed the uneven scab covering the lesion. “I see you’ve healed nicely,” she offered, her tone of voice just above a whisper. There was something about him that made her want to lose control. Her thoughts combined were a mass of confusion; she wanted to hurt and love him simultaneously. "I have a surprise for you,” she crooned, tracing the outline of his scar with one of her claws.

That petite smile on her lips was beautiful. The brown secui still knew not what to think of her. Despite the overall uncertainty that was tied to that lovely black mistress, he could not help but think of her as a possible drug that was determined to get him into trouble. He had misjudged Firefly in the past. He had believed the bitch had been worthy of something more than merely pleasure, but she had proved him wrong and announced her worthlessness loudly and violently. Now. Haku knew his own limitations better than he had done, but this woman had not asked for anything. Already she knew his freshest crime and had been willing to sacrifice the truth for him. It meant something. She had called on him and now he was here. He never gladly followed the hand holding the bone, but this was his free will guiding him to her once again. Now as an adult, he could better judge the woman. She did not beat around the bush. She seemed to wear no masks in his presence. Or perhaps she merely played him as well as anyone. If this was the case; kudos to her.

The demon nodded at her comment. He had always been a fast healer, and though the wound could still ache if he turned his neck in an unfortunate manner, it had healed very nicely. The blood loss had forced him to lower his profile and rest day in and day out for a little while. A delicate and rarely sincere smile graced his lips. A surprise she said? Her lonely claw left a soft ache in him wherever it touched. This woman was playing a dangerous game. He loved it. ”How considerate of you.” He purred, honestly wondering what the surprise would be. He did not know the woman well at all, but he had a feeling it would not be anything of the ordinary. His lips slightly lifted to reveal his sharp fangs when his mind drifted to her touch again, wanting blood to fuse black and chocolate together in something no short of eternal. A low rumble caressed his throat and the pleasant feeling of that this was right. They were right.

Lillith was a considerate woman indeed. She had chosen him as her partner in crime, her right hand man. He was now the object of her infatuation, just like Ahren had been. She’d known right from the start, from the instant she’d first laid eyes on him as a mere child, that he would eventually be hers. What a fool that Colibri was; blind woman, so easily manipulated. Her precious little boy would live and die by Lillith’s side, such was his fate. The madwoman would forge him into a supreme being; better, faster, stronger than he already was. She didn’t know why he trusted her so completely but the feeling was mutual; her behavior said as much.

She did not retract her hand from his neck, enjoying the feel of his fur underneath her fingertips. The way he purred and shivered under her touch allowed her to feel in control of the situation, and it drove her wild with excitement. This night would be unforgettable. She moved forward, inching closer to his left ear, until she was close enough to ask a question of extreme importance. This was a turning point for them; his answer would determine whether she’d include him in her plans or discard him as useless. She anticipated his answer, although she had a faint idea of what it would be. “How far would you go,” she started, proceeding nonetheless. Salmon-colored tongue slithered out to caress his chocolate ear. “to make me happy.”

The question that so softly caressed his ear should have been alarming enough. As the second in command in ‘Souls’ currently largest and perhaps also strongest pack he had to keep a low profile. Cwmfen had seemed to have noticed the black loner’s invisible aura. Haku had known all his life what the woman was. She was the creator of fire and was meant to bathe the world in a form of damnation. She was a religious creature, but not one that brought hope and enlightenment. Lillith could offer something quite else. He was not entirely sure what this was, but he knew that he wanted it. Her warm tongue traced the sensitive ear, and the male was unable to suppress a shiver that crawled up along his spine. His jaws clutched powerfully together as he felt the familiar itch in his mouth. A need to feel skin and veins tear and open as teeth closed around flesh. Was it her that particular desire was directed at? Perhaps he wanted to properly feel that female. He had dug his claw into her palm, but that was far from enough. She had drunk his blood. In return he wanted to mar her body. Not mortally in any way, but he wanted to leave a permanent mark on her.

The question was somewhat foolish though, at least to the man. A dangerous smile traced those lips of his. Had she not gotten an idea when she had met him covered in Svara Thames’ blood? ”Do you have to ask?” The two canines had not spent much time together at all, but there was a mutual understanding that had instantly brought them to a mutual level the moment they had laid eyes on each other after all those years of separation. Haku had feared her when he had been a small puppy, but he had grown and learned to open his eyes. Now he was truly able to see that there was something magnificent hidden away in her lovely orbs. How far he would go to make her happy? Haku could go far. Very far. To kill was pleasure in every way, what else could she possibly have to offer. Haku wondered if he should throw the weight of Dahlia off and seek out his true nature that had been suppressed for so long now. Why was he still there? Why did he keep distance between himself and what he wanted the most?

She had manipulated plenty of canines in her lifetime; all of them had somewhat idolized her to the point where they would’ve gotten on their knees, had she requested such a thing from them. Brainless disciplines. None of them had been anything like Haku Soul. For a brief moment, the madwoman had forgotten that she wasn’t the one in charge. And thus, when his answer didn’t sound anything like the veneration she’d expected out of him, Lillith found herself taken aback. She knew that in reality, he’d do quite a few things to please her. However, those things would be executed out of his own free will and bloodlust. Not because he regarded her as his superior. This was something she constantly reminded herself of; one wrong move and she would lose him.

Lillith knew how lucky she was to have the male by her side. Her intentions were pure when it came to her blue-eyed beast. Never would she purposely push him away. Manipulation and deceit were ingrained in her personality; it would take some work, but she’d eventually adjust to having a companion. It was a good thing they weren’t directly facing each other, because her face registered a wide range of emotions. And she wouldn’t have wanted him to see her expression. Hence why she lingered near his neck and ear, a safe haven where she could regain her composure. What he might’ve noticed was the way her body had tensed at his reply. The Stormbringer femme exhaled through her nose and closed her eyes, enjoying the proximity they shared for a few moments.

When she reopened them, those aquamarine orbs mirrored a severity she very rarely displayed in his presence. She suddenly pulled back; taking a few steps away from the man she appreciated so. “A sinner, not too far away from here,” she concluded, allowing this bit of information to sink in before continuing. She’d observed the target for several days; a pupiless male with a speech impediment and a teddy bear named Boo. His eyes, although different in coloration, reminded the crazed femme of Dahlia de Mai’s third in command. An unfortunate resemblance for him. What irked Lillith most were the scars adorning his body: clearly defined cuts and gashes, as if he’d inflicted himself with them. This assumption was all she needed to act. It was quite clear: the coward did not appreciate his life enough. As stated before, Lillith was a considerate woman. She would deliver him from a life he hated, free of charge!

Her right hand opened in order to reveal a vial of essential oils; eucalyptus, to be exact. She’d already indulged herself in it, masking her own smell before the Lilium’s arrival. Now it was his turn. Without a word, she extended the substance to her partner in crime. “You’ll need it if you don’t want to get in trouble,” she explained, in reference to the Rosea and most particularly, the Adonis.

Haku was generally hard to manipulate properly. It was far from impossible if one knew his weak and arrogant points, but this method of manipulation that Lillith had known and used in the past did not work with Haku. She intrigued him, but he was who he was, an arrogant bastard that saw himself as the centre of the world. He would not lift a finger for anyone else if he did not see anything in store for himself for doing it. Lillith was supposed to idolize him, not the opposite. After all she was merely a female, though she was more than that because she had not given herself to him. Haku had made many mistakes in the past where he had mixed worthlessness with worthiness. It was possible that he severely underestimated her, but it could not be helped. He had learned that females were only good for temporary entertainment and physical pleasures. This was not to say that she was nothing more than just that to him, but she too would have to prove herself to him before he could come even close to the word trust.

He registered a reaction from her that he had not expected. Although he wanted to draw back to gaze upon her face to investigate this further, he stayed still and felt her breath tickle the sensitive area around his ear. It was important for her to understand this at once though before she risked getting burned: he was not and would never be her dog. When the time had passed and the tension was out of her body, she revealed that there was a sinner nearby. Those blue orbs sought out her form as she withdrew from him to reveal a vial of eucalyptus. He had recognized the scent, almost completely masking out her natural scent. He could detect now in her immediate presence, but only a sharp trace of eucalyptus would remain after the woman was gone. It was a marvellous idea. A light, yet unpleasant smile lingered on his lips, because this flask would allow him to play safely without risking the rise of a mob on the borders of Dahlia de Mai. Oh, she was beautiful, this female.

She extended the substance to him, and the man started shifting to optime. He had actually expected her fingers to mix the liquid into his fur, but perhaps he expected too much from her just as she perhaps expected too much of him. They were two demons without superiors, and they would need time to adjust to one another and learn to treat each other as equals. It did not take long at all to rise up on two feet in his optime form. The man’s physical control over his body also affected the time it took to shift, greatly decreasing it. He took the vial from her and tossed drops all over and rubbed them harshly into his chocolate and cream fur. The strong scent already stung in his nostrils, but he knew that that little discomfort would be worth it. The empty vial was thrown on the floor, and he quickly started to change back to the secui, determined to do this deed in his preferred form. It felt more right this way.

Although his eye colour was the warmest of blue one could imagine, there was no warmth left in them when he after the shift gazed up at her and smiled that horrible smile. ”Ladies first.” he offered, impatient to punish the sinner. Was she aware that both of them were far worse creatures than her sinner could possibly be? Haku certainly was, and he loved how incredibly wrong this was.
