Figured they could go on a little hunting trip

On hot days like this there was no better cure that a dip in the water, and for someone with a black coat, it was almost necessary. Long legs paddled through the water, exalting in the feel of the cool liquid against her skin. A contented sigh left her lips, glad that she had such a welcome reprieve so close to home. Even though she left the mansion more often now and the pups' complaints and pleas had become less frequent didn't mean she enjoyed leaving them anymore. So when she did need a little escape, she chose to stick close to the manor in case anyone needed her and the lake was only a brisk trot away.

Savina moved through the waters like a shadow, not making a single noise as her paws and legs kept her afloat. She wasn't sure how long she had been swimming when finally a weariness began to sink into her muscles. Somewhat reluctantly she swam towards a large flat rock that was in jumping distance from the shore. The wolfess climbed up on top of it and sprawled out. A light breeze filtered through the trees and brushed her body, making her shiver involuntarily. But it was more pleasant than anything else. She planned to lay here and let her coat mostly dry off before she attempted to go anywhere or do anything else. It wouldn't do to get herself muddy after taking such a nice swim.

Waking up early suited Orion, he always liked to enjoy the full day of the sunlight especially in the summer. He had been out patrolling for most of the day which lead to his coat getting quite dusty. The heat by the afternoon started to wear on Orion and he decided he needed to cool down. He didn't want to fight with the Ocean today as he was quite tired so he headed for the lake.

He spotted a black haired wolf from a distance just as it was climbing onto a rock near the water, not wanting to disturb anyone he made for the lake a little ways north of it. As he made his way around he noticed the size and shape of the black wolf and recognized it as Savina. He hadn't spoken to her for awhile and since she seemed to be relaxing for the time being he would leave her alone.

Orion waded into the water to cool off but was careful not to splash, he didn't want to disrupt the calmness of the surroundings. He stood there for a few minutes and felt the heat leave his body as his strength returned to him. Savina still lay still on the rock in the distance and he felt as if atleast he should acknowledge her presence. Orion moved slowly along the shore of the water towards her.

300+

The rustling that that breeze made in the trees that surrounded her bade the fey to close her eyes, and she did so. Everything relaxed her. The feel of her fur drying in the sun, the sounds of the trees and the water around her. While she enjoyed what the humans had termed music, it did not compare in her heart to the music of nature. There was no way to duplicate the sound of a trickling stream by unnatural means. None could harness the wind and how it whistled through the sky. No one could replicate the song of the nightingale. This was her music, her true music. For while her DNA had been mutated by that virus, at her core she was a wolf and a child of nature and nothing could ever change that.

Savina's nose twitched as she briefly caught the scent of another nearby, though she didn't bestir herself. It was a packmate, she knew, so there was no cause for concern. A contented sigh escaped the woman's lungs. For the moment she was letting all her stresses and worries leave her mind vacant and what a calm it brought upon her. Being a leader could be tiresome at times, but at least she was still able to have these moments of serenity. Triangular eyes swiveled on her head as they heard movement in the water coming towards her. Lazily her eyes opened and she lifted her head to see who it was. The greyscale form of Orion met her vision and she offered the youth a small smile. "Hello Orion"

She turned her now mostly dry body to face the younger wolf. She hadn't seen much of him lately, not since the birth of her pups. Perhaps he was taking trips out to search for his mother and brother. Even if he wasn't the most prominent pack member around, she was glad to offer him a home and she always had been. "Taking advantage of the cool water too I see. How have you been fairing lately?" Well, she hoped.
