private for my norwegian ladies, i'll pm marit when it's time for her to jump in. Big Grin 300+

A gust of wind sent a fine mist of pollen flying through the afternoon air, filling his nostrils with the despicable substance. Summer had its ups and downs; Honoré was beginning to understand that. Hazel-hued eyes traveled to the blood-stained area on his finger, remembering how a rose bush had just recently assaulted him. He'd been full of good intentions at the time; aiming to find a pretty flower worthy of his sister's beauty. It had been meant as a birthday gift for her, but acts of kindness often went unrewarded it seemed. His plan had failed horribly, resulting in the (not so) permanent scarring of his index finger. Things hadn't gone according to plan and he'd initially stayed away out of shame, not wanting his family to find out about his failure. He was over it now though; the Quebecois missed their company. Especially little Noir Aston's.

Their relationship had been rocky at first, thanks to the crappy circumstances under which they'd met. It had since evolved into something platonic and now Honoré couldn't stay away from the nutty little girl; his new partner in crime! Noir still irked him (more often than not) with all her crazy ideas, but she passed no judgment. She loved him unconditionally; gave his life a new meaning. He'd left his former pack without so much of a goodbye to anyone, in hopes of taking up residence closer to his sandy-colored niece. It had dawned on him during a recent pack hunt; Phoenix Valley wasn't his home. Home was where his family was.

The distance between Phoenix Valley and AniWaya had been executed in record time. Relief came crashing over him as he neared his sister's den; nothing but pure glee plastered on his face. He'd disregarded the borders, as usual. He was a V.I.P; Tayui and Noir would surely vouch for him if the situation called for it! "Noir! Noir! Where are you?" he called out, allowing the leather backpack to slide off his shoulders and onto the ground.

She liked birds, but birds did not talk. She did not like this particular bird, despite its singing. She did not trust it. The blonde girl’s eyes akways narrowed slightly at the thing that called itself Kinigisdi whenever it was near. For some reason the bird seemed to follow her. She recognized the bird’s music in the trees. She was still not certain that it was the bird that talked inside her head. It was hard to figure out, especially since the girl was well aware of her vivid imagination. She was slightly troubled though, because she really liked the bird’s appearance and pretty singing, but she did not like that it behaved so unnatural and that it followed her like some scary miniature stalker thing. No, it made her feel at unease. There was this other thing too that made her feel all uneasy about this. If it could talk inside her head, could it hear her thoughts? Noir’s thoughts belonged only to Noir! No, she did not like this at all. The girl had somehow yet to guess exactly what Kinigisdi was. If she had shared her story with her mother or sister, they would have been able to tell her that the bird was her spirit guide. It was a very obvious thing, but not to an oblivious child.

There was a voice calling her name. She instantly recognized the voice as Uncle Ho, and she jumped up and banged her head into the wall inside of Baby Duck’s house. Her mother had opened the roof and helped Noir into the box so that she could snuggle up to Baby Duck. He looked horrible still, and was white with cloth bandages instead of gray. He was not dead though, which was a really, really good thing. However, the box had become extremely hot, and it was not until she now moved that she realized exactly how deadly the heat was inside the box. She automatically let out a whimper in discomfort, and the bandaged duckling ran for the opening that Noir’s body had been blocking until now. ”Wait, Baby Duck!” the girl pleaded, poking her head out of the exit of Baby Duck’s box. The duck stumbled about on its own, running around the box and falling every few seconds.

”Uncle ho!” the young girl called out, trying to wriggle her head back into the box, but found herself stuck. Oh, no, this was Attila and Ocèane and the failed hide and seek game all over again. There was a delicate birdsong from one of the nearby trees. If she listened well enough, she was certain that she would hear the stupid bird’s laughter. She wriggled slowly and mumbled small insults under her breath, all of them directed at the bird and the stupid Baby Duck that was still waltzing around in the nearby area. It was so hot. The girl’s salmon tongue leapt out from her mouth, and she panted lightly, looking like a wolf box, with only her head visible and stuck in the entrance.

It only took a few seconds for his niece to return his call, her voice emerging from the depths of the Aston family den. The tone she’d used wasn’t what he’d expected to hear; she sounded alarmed! His insecurities flared up momentarily as he inched closer to the main entrance, a billion questions zipping through his mind. What was she doing in there? Wrinkles riddled his face and he squished his forehead into a suspicious frown. Didn’t she want to see him? What if she was with someone else? A new best friend! The corners of his mouth curled into a sullen pout, displaying his rising anxiety.

He was hesitant at first, but he finally mustered up the courage to find his sister’s daughter. As he neared the back of the den, a feathery creature smacked head first into his legs. He could only blink a few times, completely taken aback by the bizarre turn of events. The bandaged duck eventually wobbled away from him, going left and right, strutting around aimlessly in a way that made Honoré quite jealous. Its walk reminded him of his runway model strut, and he definitely did not like competition in that department. Did Noir prefer this duck’s walk to her own uncle’s stylish stride?

“Noir! What is this stupid du-“ The second part of his inquiry died in his throat as his hazel-colored orbs found the form of his niece. Granted, there wasn't much to see aside from her head sticking out of a box. The mess in which she’d gotten herself was far from surprising and his stoic expression mirrored how accustomed he’d grown to little Noir’s antics. “And you say I’m fat, eh?” he said, assessing the situation. How was he supposed to get her out of there? “Wait wait, maybe I push your head in and get you unstuck okay?”

Unlike when she was younger, Noir had learned not to panic when she got herself stuck. This seemed to happen more often than what was natural, and she knew that shrieking and tossing would not make the situation any better. However, the girl gasped and started to wriggle when she saw Baby Duck collide with a pair of white feet. ”Uncle Ho, don’t eat Baby Duck!” the blonde screamed, scared that her pea brain uncle wanted to do just that. She was also worried that the collision could have damaged her not-too-smart duckling as well, but the duck got up eventually and wobbled away. Thankfully her uncle let the duck run its own private show and decided to come and take a closer look to her head instead. When he spoke, Noir felt her face blush slightly in sudden anger (or did she actually feel shame?). ”Uncle Ho, I’m not fat!” she said, mewling a bit under her breath at that thought. She had actually felt a bit fat lately, because she had begun to realize that she had outgrown Toefur by far now. Once they had been about the same size. Growing was good, but what if it was only fat?

The girl almost sighed at his proposal, but she guessed there was not much to do. ”You can lift up the roof thing, or else I cannot get out.” she said, beating her tail against the insides of the box in annoyance. Why had this happened just when the Ho-bag came to visit. The Aston child did not like making a fool out of herself, no matter if it happened often or not. Why was he here anyway? It was not that she was not happy to see him, because she was, she just was not in a position where she felt like showing her appreciation right now.

DAWALI TO THE RESCUE!(?)
Word Count: 406

The bandages on his back and chest stung less and less every day, but even so he maintained his activity by applying new herbs several times daily, and none of them were for easing the pain. Some of them made him sting more, but that was not his intention - he simply wanted the wounds to grow well. He did not deserve pain relief. His two legs now carried him towards the Aston's family den, with two purposes - he needed to speak with Tay regarding Attila's behavior, and he needed to talk to the two little girls. They didn't have to fear Brennt anymore - the nightmare was over, at least for them. For himself - he did not know, but at least Gvihita had stopped being a statue. It was as if she had granted him a piece of herself because he had finished what he started, but the torment which ruled his mind ever since the incident weighed him down anyway, so the change made only a marginal difference. She still did not speak, but now he could again read her moods, and it made him feel less alone. Asha's presence helped too. His mind worked through these subjects tirelessly, all day - every day. Today it was interrupted prematurely, though, as the male noticed a stranger's scent as he came closer to the Aston den, and he could hear Noir there, speaking about something. Instinctively he quickened his pace, alert at once.

His form turned where the path turned, and as the den entered his view he spotted a stranger, white-pelted like Tayui, with strange human clothing, standing in the den entrance. "Hello there!" Calling out, but friendly (even if he was alert), he moved swiftly over to the den entrance, so he could get an overview of the situation. Noir was cute, but she could also be far too naive, and just because she was having a conversation with the stranger didn't make him a good person. Once he actually saw the contents of the cave, though, he was at a loss as to how to interpret it - had the stranger put her there, or was she simply.. stuck? Both scenarios were plausible, but given the fact that she wasn't crying her heart out made the latter the most likely winner. "Noir, are you stuck?" He smiled kindly, and also shot a glance at the stranger there, uncertain and curious.

“No, no! Think maybe would be better if I pull on your head Noir,” he asserted stubbornly, not really taking the time to evaluate his options. His niece was stuck and it was his job, as her favorite uncle, to get her out of there. That’s what family was for. He would make things better, just like Cambria had made things better by kissing his injury. He didn’t think a simple kiss would fix this problem though. Everything was complicated with his sandy-colored niece; she had a habit of landing herself in the oddest situations. What was she talking about with her roof thing? There was no roof on this box! Maybe she was imagining things; he assumed stress could make people go cuckoo.

“Now you know, people with big heads can’t go in small boxes, you know?” he explained as he took a few steps forward, ready to yank her out of there. Someone else entered the scene then; a male he’d never seen before. Honoré stared at him suspiciously, his mouth agape with surprise. Luckily for Noir, her uncle’s attention was focused entirely on the newcomer. Whoever this male was, he seemed to know his niece well. Was he a friend of Tayui’s? Noir’s dad, maybe? The Québécois felt a pang of jealousy at that thought, not really appreciating the idea of competing with another male for the child’s affection. “I think duck put her in there,” he offered, hoping to unravel the Noir-in-the-box mystery. Playing detective sure wasn’t easy.

Her annoyance lit up when Dawali’s voice sounded from the side, and the girl’s head moved about uneasily. Why was it that Dawali too had to show up right now when she was stuck inside the box? It was not a very nice thing to do. Did these adults do such things on purpose to make her feel worse? Were they deliberately that mean? She could not really believe that, but she wanted to blame them for at least something so that she would not be feeling only stupid. It made her want to be angry, but she lacked a reason to gently lash out at them. One couldn’t be mean to Dawali anyway, because he was the leader and she had used his blanket inside Baby Duck’s house without telling him, so she was actually the bad and stupid part in this scene. So not fair. She wanted to be smart and pretty, but she seldom felt like that. Actually, almost never. This meant that some of those things that Kinigisdi said were actually right, and that fact alone annoyed the girl beyond anything. Birds weren’t supposed to be smarter than wolves. Baby Duck surely was not, so why did that stupid bird thing have to be so smart all of a sudden. Why was a bluebird following her anyway?

Pull? Oh, no! ”No, Uncle Ho, you have to push my head into the box again!” the girl whined anxiously, suddenly afraid that her silly uncle would pull her head off and kill her. Noir did not want to die. No, not at all. Who would take care of Baby Duck if she died, for example? Uncle Ho would try to eat it and that could never ever happen because he was his something family something thing. Yes, Ho was Baby Duck’s uncle something too, because Noir’s mommy was Grandmother Tayui now. Her uncle stepped forward and the girl whined in sudden fear of losing her head, her limbs clanking against the walls inside the box. ”Don’t!” Maybe it actually was good that Dawali was here. ”Dawali, help me!” She whimpered in the leader’s direction. Dawali always saved everyone and everything it seemed, and today it was her turn to be the maiden in need. And Uncle Ho was wrong anyway. ”Mommy putted me inside the box with Baby Duck for nap time and then it ran out and I tried to follow but I got stuck and help.” This was Noir in a nutshell.

His initial worry let go quickly as the other adult proved as intrigued by Noir's position as himself, and the fact that Noir didn't seem to be scared of the guy. The red wolf shot the other male another glance and a smile when he attempted to explain what had happened. When Noir decided to add information, the male found himself chuckling again. He did that a lot when it came to Noir, it seemed. Perhaps it was her choice of words and lack of sentence structure, although that alone would normally never make him chuckle. No, it was the combination of innocence (and in this situation in particular - slight distress), along with the troubles of speaking properly - it had him charmed to the tips of his fingers. The girl was perhaps a child now, but one day she would be an adult like the other two present, and he sincerely wondered how she would be when that time came.

Dawali took a few steps closer to the whimpering girl to inspect the event. Now, he didn't really understand what she meant by "Baby Duck", but soon enough he was by the boxlike thing she was in, examining it for any clues. "Now who is this infamous duck which lured you into this thing, then?" A smile followed the statement as his hands touched the box here and there, trying to figure it out. He wasn't used to human things. Again he shot a glance at the stranger, before his eyes returned to the device. Why would anyone have such an odd and obviously potentially dangerous thing anyway? After all, Noir could have gotten hurt.

Clumsy fingers were brought up to scratch the back of his head as he finally took the time to re-evaluate the situation. If this Dawali person (Noir’s dad?) was taking the time to do so, it probably meant that it was the smartest thing to do. After all, he did seem like a smart enough man. Eyes of metallic bronze watched intently as the Kalona’s fingers stroked the box’s material. Yes, very smart thing to do. He was feeling the container, searching for any potential clues. Honoré’s eyes grew wide with fascination; Dawali-man was just like a detective, the real thing! Asking all those questions and whatnot, getting up close and personal with the obstacle. Impressive! Maybe they could play the detective game together?

When Dawali questioned the duck’s identity, Honoré’s head jerked in its direction. There it was! Wobbling around over there, pretending to be stupid and stuff. But he knew better. Behind that stupid-looking face was a genius; a criminal mastermind! Noir had said something about Tayui putting her in there but such a possibility was inconceivable, unless… was it normal for mommies put their kids away in boxes when they had no one to babysit them? Surely his sister wasn’t silly enough to do something like that. It all became clear; the duck had somehow managed to modify the child’s memory. A super mind-erasing beam, maybe. Weapon of mass destruction! Oh no! The world was in big trouble.

Both of his eyes narrowed into itty bitty slits as he examined the duck’s behavior. It finally looked away, and that’s when Honoré took the opportunity to approach the ugly thing. Before long, both of his hands were wrapped around the duck’s body. He’d briefly considered wringing its neck but killing without interrogating first wasn’t in their best interest. “You stop m-“ Then came a peck. Right on his nose. And another (dangerously close to his eye). Followed by the best insult he could come up with. “NUTCRACKER!”

(500) DRAMA AND POWERPLAY, WHAT WILL YOU DO ABOUT IT!

Why did things like these have to happen to just Noir? Obviously, Noir failed to realize that it was actually because of her that such odd situations seemed to pop up here and there. With a small ‘pop’, Noir face was shoved into the box again. Phew, at least she was not stuck in that uncomfortable position anymore. She felt blind for a moment by the sudden darkness inside the small space, but although she could no longer see the two adults, she could hear both well enough. Did not Dawali know about the amazing Baby Duck yet? Perhaps the Aston child had taken it for granted that Dawali knew everything. Well, she would certainly introduce it, especially since Dawali seemed to be the one to help her out of the duckling’s purple painted house. ”I found Baby Duck all alone inside his egg and then he came out and thought I was his mother and now I am his mother and this is Baby Duck’s house and his name is Baby Duck.” the girl explained hurriedly as the adult Aniwayan opened the roof of the box so that she could get out. However, Noir was not busy talking to Dawali. ”He is boy because he is gray, but his neck is starting to look weird and he is hurt because a cow stepped on him, like a very big cow so he has lots of clothes on him.” Yes, she was starting to get a bit worried about that growing neck of her baby.

Golden eyes moved over to her uncle after she had given Dawali the most important Baby Duck details, but it was not a pleasant sight. Uncle Ho had grabbed the still injured duckling and was hurting it (technically Baby Duck was hurting Honoré). A terrified gasp sounded from the child before she kicked her way out of the partly opened box, not noticing if Dawali got a kick or two as well. No, Noir Aston of Aniwaya had to save her beloved Baby Duck before Uncle Ho ate it just like he had eaten the fish he had caught with his rump. ”NO!” the girl screamed with all the authority and fear in the world. Noir was not violent in any way. Never had she become physical when dealing with heated, negative emotions. Now, however, she darted straight at uncle Ho in order to save her one and only Baby Duck child! Her jaws found uncle Ho’s leg and she could feel her teeth sink slightly into his leg. It was a disgusting feeling, and all of a sudden she could both smell and taste hot blood. Her stomach jolted uncomfortably along with her mind, and she let go of the leg, unable to stay attached to it because of the revolting nature of her act.

Not before now did the girl notice that her blonde fur stood on end and her vague red tinted teeth were bared at her own uncle. How could this have happened. The taste in her mouth was not originally a bad one, but because it belonged to her beloved uncle, she wanted to vomit. She felt so so upset. ”Dawali!” she cried out, afraid of what the scene had evolved into.

As the girl climbed out of the contraption he smiled and let her go on about her Baby Duck. It seemed she was giving in to her maternal feelings already - that was good. He was glad to see young and healthy kids who were considerate enough to think of other persons' wellbeing. Very often kids could be spoiled and thought only of themselves, but he was glad to see that Noir was not like that. With a chuckle he reached out to ruffle her furs like he liked to do, although before he got the chance the girl darted away from him with a loud "NO!". Startled, The male sprung to his feet and turned around, only to see the child biting the stranger's leg, who was holding the legendary Baby Duck. Yelling something incomprehensible, voice all authority but no actual words, he strode over to the pair and immediately yanked the duck from the other male's grasp, and pushed Noir out of the way while he was there. The girl had let go by then, and was in fact not doing anything but snarl at the stranger, although Dawali was still not considering the situation under control. Without asking for permission he held the young bird and strode back to the contraption he'd earlier released Noir from, and placed the bird in it before closing its hatch. Turning onto the stranger and the child, his position was all authority, his voice demanding. There was empathy in him for Noir, who had merely been anxious, but that didn't justify biting someone. And this other guy hadn't introduced himself, either! His face looked at the young child, scorning - but not so harshly. He could see that she was still anxious, and perhaps surprised at herself. Troubled, anyhow.

"What is the meaning of this behavior? Noir, you can't just bite people like that, he wasn't hurting the bird, the bird was hurting him." Dawali paused, looking from Noir to the stranger, whose name he still didn't know. His face didn't exactly harden now, but it was clear that he was no longer talking to a beloved tribesmember, but a stranger. "Who are you?" It was blunt, but he was pretty worked up by everything, and wanted to regain some control. His yellow gaze flew to the male's leg where Noir had bitten him, before it returned to the stranger's face. "How is the bite? I have some herbs if you need any." The fact that Noir had bitten him was Dawali's responsibility, given that she was a puppy still, and he would have to make up for this. That is, if the stranger was someone he could trust, because that first impression was wavering now.

From the moment the duck had begun its assault, everything had gone downhill. Pecking was endurable, at least compared to what came next. He’d been granted no warning aside from a strict “No!” from his niece, a tone all too similar to the one Tayui often used to reprimand him with. This surprised him. His attention wasn’t focused on the duck anymore, but the angry child now charging toward him. Had he been able to react a little quicker, he probably would’ve dropped her so-called baby. But his brain took a few seconds longer to react and before he knew it, his sister’s daughter was latched onto his leg. Honoré would learn a few things from this experience; one of them being how sharp baby teeth really were. Although every limb in his body urged him to shake her off, he simply couldn’t.

His receivers flattened against his skull when Dawali-man got involved and he made no protest when the duck was taken away from him. Noir eventually let go, but the damage dealt to his ego was far greater than the puncture wounds on his leg. Hazel-colored eyes swept over his blood-stained pelt, only to settle upon his niece’s sickened grimace. She’d deliberately hurt him! That’s when he became painfully aware that her precious baby duck was far more important than her senile uncle. Suddenly he regretted his intentions to stay. He wanted to run away, to a faraway land where baby ducks did not exist. Not a word had come out of his maw up until now; not a single sound. “Honoré. I’m brother of Tayui.” he explained when the feather-wearing male addressed him with a question.

He could’ve presented himself as Noir’s uncle but he didn’t quite feel like it anymore, not after what they’d just gone through. Tears were building up in his eyes. He’d left Phoenix Valley for her and there was no going back. “No herbs needed. I leave, go find new home somewhere maybe. I’m is sorry.” he said to both, although his statement had been mostly directed at the upset little girl.

When Dawali’s hard words reached her ears, the girl gave the man an unhappy grimace. ”He held Baby Duck hard and made it scared, you don’t know what he was going to do to my baby, you don’t care if my baby dies!” That last line had not been planned, but flew out of her anyway. The girl was already extremely upset because of her own behaviour, and Dawali’s reprimand now caused her eyes to flood over with salty tears. A hiccup sounded from the girl as those sad tears started to run down her cheeks. No one ever scolded uncle Ho for the things he did! He had called Noir a penguin, but she had still been the one getting the blame for being rude. Now he had almost killed Baby Duck, and Dawali said nothing mean to him. It was so unfair, it was unfair so unfair unfair unfair unfair! Was not mummies supposed to protect their children? Was it wrong to protect her own child from death? Dawali was just a stupid old man that knew nothing of what it meant to be a mother!

She gave her leader a few moments to prove that he would scold uncle Ho too, but nothing came. The disappointment was so heavy in her chest. The girl’s body sunk down, giving after to the weight of sorrow and injustice. Uncle Ho’s reaction to it all was even worse. He did not say that he was uncle Ho, only brother of her mother. He did not like her anymore. That realization was a proper kick straight in the face. If it had been a physical blow, Noir would no longer have lived. But no, it was a mental wound, and the girl fell down on her bum the instant he had ‘announced’ that he did no longer like her. She had just tried to protect Baby Duck! The girl’s own eyes were so flooded that she was unable to see the increased production of liquid in her uncle’s own eyes. She only heard those words where he said that he would walk away forever and find a new home in a land far away (Noir’s brain added all holes, of course).

All these things altogether was too much for her little heart to bear. Everything was unfair and everything was sad. The girl then began to sob loudly, the little stream of salty tears turning into a furious river of hurt. She had liked Uncle Ho and had not meant to hurt him and now he would go away forever and she would never see his girly bum and stupid hat ever again!

Aww everyone are sad. Slight ramble, sorry! Sad
Word Count: 539

For all his efforts, Dawali did not exactly manage to help the situation. However, it was the child that now was the center of his anger, as she defiantly nurtured her assumptions without reasoning over them, and even accused him of not caring. His brows wrinkled as he spoke to her, his voice calm but deep and booming as usual, and now with a hint of controlled anger. Noir had never met this Dawali, so far only Attila had made it necessary for him to come out, but as his own daughters had found out one day; he would react if boundaries were crossed. "I do not care? Noir, how dare you say that, when you know very well how much I care about your family? You should apologize, and be ashamed of yourself to think such things about those who love you." His gaze was stern and his arms crossed. Right now he did not worry if he upset the child, because at that moment it seemed to him that it was more than likely that her lovableness had gone to everyone's head. She had a way of getting her will, and perhaps it was time to understand that she could not always do what she wanted to.

As Honoré, as his name was, stated that he was the brother of Noir's mother, Tayui, Dawali's ears perked. Of course! He'd felt as if there was some sort of link here that he should have seen. The similarity of coats should have given it away, really. His heart was not lifted, however, because the male in front of him was obviously not happy with the situation, and seemed to think that he should go elsewhere. Had he come here for a reason, then? The child sobbed and sat like a sack of potatoes on the ground, and for a moment his yellow gaze flickered to the child and his brows moved to form a more sympathetic shape, but he quickly looked back to the pale-coated male in front of him. "Look, I feel bad." The red wolf glanced to the sobbing child again, before continuing. "Did I misunderstand, or did you seek to live here with the rest of your family? Tayui and her children?" His stance was awkward. He wasn't certain whether he was apologizing for Noir acting as she was, or for his own poor handling of the situation.

A weak moment came upon the man and he realized there was nothing he hated listening to more than the crying of a child. He didn't change his stance, but his voice was perhaps softer than before as he shot the girl a comment, hoping it would soothe her somewhat. He couldn't stand it if she wouldn't come to her senses and calm down soon, the crying reminded him of his daughters and it was breaking his heart. "Hey, Noir.. You know, your family and I love you just like you love Baby Duck, and we'd never want to hurt you. That's why we wouldn't hurt your baby either." Not finding it in himself to reach out and comfort her, he simply stood where he was, and hoped it would do. Otherwise he might just have to leave.

Accusations flew, most directed at him for supposedly abusing Noir’s precious baby duck, when he hadn’t done anything worthy of such allegations! Although it had briefly crossed his mind to wring the creature’s neck, he wouldn’t have done so. Because in spite of his personal annoyance with the stupid thing, he did not want to hurt his niece. But apparently, his good intentions just weren't enough to make her happy. It seemed as though no matter what he did, or how hard he tried to make things better, negative results always ensued. It had hurt quite a bit when she’d claimed that he would have killed the wobbly bird. Things were always so complicated! First he’d saved her from a dangerous snake and instead of getting proper thanks; she’d served him a tantrum on a silver platter.

He knew now, as was the case with everyone else, that he was unimportant. His opinions never mattered! Oh, this was a cruel world indeed. Noir’s sobbing both saddened and frightened him; he did not like it when she cried, and he did not like it when Tayui scolded him (which would undoubtedly happen, given the current situation). Little did Noir know, his sister had scolded him for calling her a penguin. The Québécois blinked back a few tears when Dawali intervened before things escalated any further. His voice had lost the friendly tones projected earlier, but it wasn't harsh either. He spoke firmly, just enough for Honoré to keep his mouth shut until he was finally spoken to. The things he told Noir were very true; she mattered to him more than anything in the world! Even more than ketchup.

The Frenchman would’ve stated so himself but it wasn’t in his nature to reveal such things. He teased and unfortunately, often annoyed those he loved and appreciated. His body might’ve belonged to a six-year-old male, but in all reality, his heart and soul were up to par with little Noir’s. Perhaps that is why he was so fond of her. Honoré didn’t quite understand when the feather-bearing male explained that he felt bad. A headache, maybe. Who could blame him? Those who were brave enough to spend time with him often got one, too. So instead of reassuring him, of telling Dawali that none of this was his fault, both of his ears flattened against his skull. “Sorry.” He would do his best not to make him feel bad anymore.

“I’m left Phoenix Valley because the Mad Scientist there eats mine bird friends. Like chomp chomp.” he started, demonstrating exactly what chomping meant by opening his mouth exaggeratedly and clamping his jaws shut. What he‘d meant to say was that DaVinci, Phoenix Valley’s Savant (although this was no longer the case), had tried to eat his friends, the yellow chickadees. Then, using his index finger to designate his niece, he explained that he’d come all the way to Aniwaya to be with her. “Then I’m left there, I travel a lot. And get lost. But then met Cambodia who save my life, and she pointed in Noir’s direction. And I’m come here, because Noir is the best niece and I wanted to stay with her, just maybe.” he admitted, knowing full well that his niece would not accept him now.

Noir did no longer like Dawali. She was sure that uncle Ho would have harmed Baby Duck. He had scared the poor bird, and it was not odd that it had hurt him like that. The Aniwayan leader did not listen, and believed he knew everything. He did not know Baby Duck or uncle Ho, so he could not say such things. He only got angry when Noir stated that he did not care because he did not seem to care so how could she react any differently than this? She flattened her ears fully and refused to listen to that mean and angry noise that the leader’s voice made when he spoke firmly down to her. Why should she be ashamed for saying the truth! Mom had put her into place, Dawali was putting her into place. Nobody listened to her or cared to listen to her point of view! He did not understand why she had bit uncle Ho, and he had not bothered to see that she was sad and regretted doing it. They were stupid both of them. She wanted to run away from the whole scene. She hated her face when she was crying, because it became so wet and her nose got clogged.

Dawali’s voice grew softer, but the words he chose made her feel like a dumb child. He did not understand! ”But uncle Ho has not seen my Baby before and he kills fish with his bum.” the girl whined miserably, though no longer expecting the adult to understand. She was sulking and she knew it. Everything was so sad. Uncle Ho spoke and said that he wanted to come stay with her. So now it was certain that he had come to stay with her, but now because she had bit him he would go far away and never come back and Noir would never ever in the world experience a happy moment ever again. Still weeping and sniffling, the girl dragged her sorry form over to her uncle and sat down on top of his feet, sticking her head in-between his ankles. ”U-uncle Hoo, p-please don’t goooess..” Perhaps there was meant to be a longer sentence, but another sob forced its way out of her and did not allow her to finish.

Dawali is out! Lemme know if you're continuing or if I should archive this Smile

Dawali's tail twitched with the strain the situation was putting on him. Noir was crying and acting.. well, like he should expect her to do, because she was still very young. But the male, he seemed to act more along the lines of Noir than of himself, and it made him confused. Perhaps Honoré was put off by everything, or perhaps he was too confused to understand what Dawali was trying to say. If so, the red wolf wouldn't blame him. Nodding as the other explained his intent with coming here, Dawali tried to keep his face straight, but Noir continued to anger him with her childish accusations. Nearly, very nearly, he was driven to be as strict with her as he had been forced to be with Attila, but he did not want to do this. And he did understand her sadness, but it seemed she was too young still to be able to understand his. Her defense would have been funny had it not been for this awkward situation, and Dawali chose to ignore this tale about fishing with one's bum. Instead, his gaze was onto the male and the male only, now attempting to ignore the child. If Honoré wished to grant her some attention that was up to him, but Dawali would not give in to her whim. His explanation also caused it to dawn on him where in their semi-shared gene pool Noir might have picked up her speech impediment, but he tossed that unimportant registration away. His hand went to Honoré's shoulder as he spoke, intending now to make a swift exit. It was up to the two of them to make up; it was not part of his job.

"Listen, I apologize for this. If you came here to seek a home, I'm happy to greet you as a one of us. You have many family members in our tribe, and we put family ahead of anything. You are more than welcome."

Now, the male glanced at the child, who had positioned herself close to her uncle, pleading for attention. When his eyes returned to the face of the adult, it was milder, but still authoritative. As he spoke again, that gaze moved between the two in front of him.

"Now, I'd like the two of you to straighten this out, because I won't allow such violent quarreling among my tribe members. So you'll sit down and get it over with." Pausing, he glanced especially at the child, still not making up his mind about her. The child was very, very good at manipulating his emotions, and he would like to believe she didn't know she was doing it. "And Noir? You know I'm a medic, so if Baby Duck is ever hurt, you can come to me and we will make it better if you want." With that, he tipped his head in greeting to the male and strode off, not happy, not angry. Decisive. If they did not work it out he would have to think of something, but he believed this to be one of those situations which blew over quickly. He certainly hoped so, anyway.
