The lightning, frightening yellow bolts of light that jolted down from the sky in zig zags, was magnificent. She watched the "show" transfixed, moved by its simultaneous beauty and danger; what was most peculiar about this display of lightning was that there was no rain. She was normally so used to seeing both acts of nature present at the same time so it came as a shock that one could, after all, be present sans its counterpart; Mantra couldn't even remember when she'd last seen such an awesome spectacle as this without being semi-asleep. Her light blue eyes reflected the streaks of radiance that fell from the heavens as they remained transfixed upon the heavens; she felt so at rest here, sitting on the Bay's shore, in complete and utter silence as this wonderful occurrence took place right in front of her.

He had never laid eyes on the ocean so closely before, let alone set foot upon a beach. It had been a rather faineant day, so the male, looking for something to do, had decided to venture to the area east of Jaded Shadows. The sight was magnificent. Throw in a light show, courtesy of the clouds in the heavens, and you had yourself a spectacular visual event. Kieran’s gaze remained transfixed upon the sight for some time, watching as the lighting storm slowly began and continue as it did now, not a single drop of rain let loose.

Time slowly passed, and the spaher tore his gaze from the sky, finally exploring a bit more of the beach. Flashes of lightning illuminated the area, revealing the shells and other objects littered about the sand. The sky’s showy performance eventually revealed what looked like a figure in the distance, apparently enjoying the spectacle as well. He let his feet slowly guide him over there, feeling up for a conversation, if the other was willing.

“Quite a show, isn’t it?” he commented, stopping a distance from the wolf and gazing at the sky once more.

“Quite a show, isn’t it?” The voice had not startled her -- it was like she'd been expecting it all along. Her gaze did not falter from the brilliant flashes of lightning striking down before them, but she acknowledged his presence with a brief nod. Mantra was transfixed by this show, glued to her seat in a mixture of wonder, awe, and unabashed bewilderment. She could not remember a time when she'd been so moved by something, so transformed by a single event. The ocean reflected the beautiful streaks in its shimmering depths, the slight ripples occasionally disorienting the exact portrait that was painted above it; Mantra felt the sudden urge to leap up, jump into the water, and swim out as far as the eye could see. That was the only way she could see herself ever getting close enough to this projection of brilliance. An arrangement of seashells littered Lightning Bay's shore like garbage in a deserted alleyway and they glittered like tiny gemstones as each golden ray shot down from the heavens; diamonds in the rough, quite literally this time. After several moments Mantra once again realized that there was someone standing not far away from her, and so as not to seem rude she supposed it would be only polite to acknowledge his presence with more than a nod. In a quiet murmur, she spoke.

"Does this happen often here?" It was an obvious allusion to the imaginary badge on her chest that read "NEWBIE". Mantra didn't feel any need to hide her status; the fact that she wasn't a native to this place was probably evident enough by her scent. At last, the tawny girl twisted her head around so that she faced Kieran, turquoise eyes creasing as she smiled sweetly at him; shy by nature, it wasn't her manner to confidently approach him and extend a hand. A slight tremor of thunder permeated throughout the Bay, making its first appearance in the lightning show. Mantra bit her lip nervously as the first raindrop fell from the sky and landed like a bullet onto the sandy floor. She should have known that the hesitation of rain wouldn't last forever, but she'd been hoping it would hold off long enough to allow her a dry trip home; however, now that she was in the company of another (and quite enjoying it) it didn't seem like she'd leave anytime soon. A few more minutes passed, but no second raindrop fell from above. Curiously, Mantra turned to face her companion and gave a slight shrug that translated into "hm, that was weird."

The lightning had captured his attention once more, seizing a hold of it with the beautiful and deadly yellow streaks. He saw the stranger silently acknowledge his presence from the corner of his eye, glad that he didn’t seem to be too unwelcome. The Shadows wolf sat himself down on the soft sand of the beach and resumed his observation of the sky above. The question brought up by the other ended the lengthy silence, and Kieran refocused his attention on the wolf who sat a short distance away. “Can’t say that it does.” He been in these lands for a while now, but he had never seen anything like this before.

He was glad the silence had been broken, proving once more that his presence wasn’t annoying her. Kieran hadn’t met too many unfriendly wolves while living in Bleeding Souls, and for this he was grateful; as outgoing as he could be, he was bound to get into trouble for it one day. He offered Mantra a friendly smile of his own in return, though his gaze quickly flew to the sky once it shook with thunder. It was relatively calm for a few moments, and Kieran looked in tawny wolf’s direction in time to see her shrug. Before he could make any comment on the peculiarity of the weather, the sky let out another roar of thunder. “Perhaps a storm’s approaching?” A simple conjecture, though it seemed that the rain was still a ways off.

Her assumption had been confirmed -- lightning storms with the absence of rain weren't a daily occurrence here in Bleeding Souls. Despite the fact that this place was named after such a natural phenomenon, that didn't mean it could so often occur without the onslaught of precipitation; either way, however, Mantra thought the Bay pretty cool for its moniker alone. Back where she'd lived, it'd been pretty dry and the chance of rain had always been slim... meaning thunderstorms were even rarer.

It dawned on the tawny female that she didn't even know this stranger's name. Although it seemed odd for two unlikely souls to be conversing without knowing a single thing about one another, Mantra thought the whole situation better this way -- she liked reserving common civilities at times.

Seconds after Kieran predicted a storm might be coming, rain began to pour forth from the heavens like bubbling water spilling over a pot. It was amazing how fast the drizzle became a torrent, splashing down in diagonal sheets rather than visible drops. She frowned visibly now, beginning to feel the effects of a drenched coat on her body temperature and comfort. "Looks like you weren't far from the truth at all. What do you say to relocating maybe?"

The downpour was sudden, quickly soaking everything with a sheet of cold rain. The storm almost appeared to be fooling them at first, starting for only a second as a drizzle before launching a more intense assault. Lightning flashed again, revealing a clearer view of the falling sheets and making the storm seem even harsher. Thunder followed quickly after, proving that the storm was really getting started. He nodded to his unfamiliar companion, lifting himself off of the ground. “That sounds like a good idea.”

They were a bit far from the shelter of the forests, but there had to be some sort of shelter nearby, giving them a quick, safe travel. His eyes searched through the darkness along the cliff-face not too far from the sea, trying to find what had looked like caves earlier. More lightning poured from the sky, illuminating the area for a moment and helping him spot the area. Some of the caves appeared to dip into tide pools, but a few were more distanced from the water and definitely drier. He motioned toward the caves, taking a step forward in the dark. “I think I see some caves over here. We could try to wait out the storm there.”
