One only please, and preferably someone she hasn't met before. Takes place at night in Serena Reserve. 300+

She couldn't say why she had felt the need to be driven from the comfort of her home tonight. Something had called to her, something she couldn't quite place her paw on. Long sable legs had carried her past the boundaries of Crimson Dreams to that land that sat between her pack and the AniWaya tribe. She was glad they had such quiet and peaceful neighbors. It struck her then that she had never actually met the leaders of that tribe. Mentally she made a note to correct that sometime in the near future. It wouldn't do for her to not know those that lead the pack that lay the closest to her own. Plus, she was intrigued by their way of life. It seemed to be something unique and she had the urge to learn more about it.

The sky had rained down on the lands fairly relentlessly these past few days, though thankfully it seemed to have stopped for the time being. The earth gave way beneath her paws, leaving indentations and an impossible to mistake trail of her journey. The air was cool and fresh and she took it into her lungs with a smile. Savina loved serene little moments such as these. Of course she loved her pack and her family, but she also valued solitude on the rare moments she was granted it. There was a clearing in the trees and emerald orbs gazed up at the sky as the breath caught in her chest. The clouds had opened up to show hundreds upon hundreds of twinkling stars. The light from those celestial orbs was reflected in her eyes as the fey was awestruck.

Fluidly she moved into a seated position, her head inclined to look at the sky, unable to tear away from the amazing sight. She had seen the night sky so many times, and yet it had never caught her in such a way. It made her wonder what was out there. Was there some other creature living in some distant and far off place looking at these same stars? Or perhaps even looking down at this world from another? Those thoughts gave her an interesting sort of contentment. It started softly, a melodic howl rising from her throat, but quickly the song rose to a crescendo. It was directed at no one in particular, perhaps to the stars themselves. Her thanks for their mystery and beauty.

Jael was very, very far from home. Countless miles separated himself and Inferni, and Jael knew he'd soon turn around and make the journey back. He wasn't even sure what had taken him this far other than a restlessness in his paws that howled to be sated. The youth was growing attached to his new home--surprisingly so. He'd never thought he'd actually enjoy living within the coyote clan, but he did. For the most part, the wolves he'd met thus far had been far from satisfying and the boy was beginning to wonder if a seed of truth rang within his father's biased, ignorant words and stories. He didn't want to believe it, but so far all of his fears were turning out to be true. The coyotes so far held his interest and affection far more then his wolfen brethren.
He moved quickly, tirelessly across the terrain as wolves were built to do, eating miles with his paws like a starving predator and the landscape opened up before him. He'd traveled before, when they'd first gone out into the world leaving their father behind, but Jael hadn't wandered much since joining Inferni. He enjoyed the sight of new places, inhaling the strange, unfamiliar scents, and best of all knowing he had a place to return to. He wouldn't be scrounging around for food and shelter, unsure what the next day would bring as long as he did return home after his brief experience away. That was one of the most comforting things he'd felt so far in his life, losing the uncertainty that reigned around his existence.
A howl broke through his senses, alerted the hybrid to another's presence. Pace slowed, ears lifting and searching for the location of the source. It was a little to the north--or so the star-strewn heavens told him. The rain had finally broken, and the sky above was velveteen black, dotted with tiny pinpricks of white. The milky-way was a ribbon of diamonds and the moon a polished pearl. Wary, he moved through the shadows like a ghost, illuminated by the starlight like a spectre against the solid blackness of the forest. Peering around the base of a tree, Jael spotted the dark she-wolf howling her heart out to the unanswering moon. But he didn't speak or approach, preferring not to bother a strange wolf in her solitude.

yey Big Grin 300+

Her voice rose through the air like a ghostly bird, invisible but undeniably tangible. It seemed like it had been so long that she had sang to the heavens so freely and fiercely. Back in Italy she had done it all the time. Almost every night the pack had convened to sing the their praises to the sky. Even when they didn't Savina would go and sing to the moon and stars herself. Lately it seemed there had been little time for such things. Crimson Dreams had no such ritual as her birth pack had. Then she was busy being a leader or taking care of her pups. There was no time or energy for such nightly serenades. Well, she would change that. She wanted her children to hold the appreciation for this as she did. Even though they were not simple wolves anymore didn't mean they should deny themselves these simple and feral pleasures.

As slowly as it had started the woman's voice faded back into the silence of the night. Her eyes were closed and a serene smile was placed upon her face. Her soul was contented and calmed by that simple act of her nature. While she may have accepted the gift of being a luperci, she would never shun her heritage and how she had been raised. The Marino was a wolf at heart and she always would be. The faint scent of a stranger reached her sensitive nose and she took it in, searching her mind for recognition. Whoever it was belonged to the clan, but it was no one she had met before. While she had some issues with the clan, it was on a case by case basis. One of her greatest enemies resided there as well as one of her most true friends. Inferni was a dichotomous place for her.

Savina's sleek head turned to search for that canine and found him quite easily. Unlike her, he had a coat that reflected all the glory and brightness of the full moon. His eyes shone like two fires in the night. That smile was still on her lips as she looked warmly at him. "Hello, it's a beautiful night, is it not?" Her accented voice wafted through the air that sat between them. It was interesting. He looked much more wolf than coyote, though she new the clan readily accepted hybrids as long as they held a certain amount of coy heritage.

The expression in the dark on the she-wolf's face, illuminated by the stars above was that of a serene peacefulness Jael wasn't quite sure he understood. He'd never seen someone simply howl their heart out to the sky and become so content, and so he couldn't comprehend the source of her bliss. It wasn't long before she became aware of him standing there--or perhaps she'd been aware the entire time and had finally taken this particular moment to regard him properly. "I guess," he replied, never having been one to consider shadow and stars pretty. Jael was a creature who did observe the world around him, taking in every detail, but he'd never spoken to another living creature about if before and found such conversation awkward and new. Emboldened by her friendly manner the young hybrid slunk from the shadows where he'd been lurking, moving toward the she-wolf in her clearing.
Her voice held a note different than any he'd ever heard before, but so many spoke differently, even in the same family, that he thought nothing of it. "I'm Jael," he offered quietly, almost shyly as he paused near the wolfess, turning his head toward the stars from the far superior vantage point of the clearing. "You can see better from here," the pale youth stated dumbly, turning back to the strange female. An obvious comment, but he was struggling for something to say to an absolute stranger who'd chosen to speak with him in a manner not quite aggressive and on edge, but rather calm and inviting. He looked away again, turning fiery eyes to the trees, unsure yet how to act around the woman.

The female only gave a soft exhale through her nose at his response, a sort of silent chuckle. She couldn't blame him for not being quite as enamored with the night sky as she was. Not everyone was so intrigued by the simple pleasures and beauties in life. She believed it had a lot to do with how someone was raised. Her pack had shunned anything human and nature had been all she knew and so she had a very deep appreciation and connection with it. But some were raised with the highlights of human artifacts, as it seemed most here were. Besides, her sex it seemed was more interested by aesthetics than men were. Maybe it was just a part of each of their natures.

Brushy black tail swept slowly over the ground as the ghostly hybrid came to join her in the clearing. He seemed a little nervous, or unsure of himself. Perhaps the clan had filled his head with stories that wolves were horrible creatures and now that he was face to face with a nice one he wasn't sure how to react. "I'm Savina. It's very nice to meet you Jael." As he turned his head to the stars she followed suit, letting their reflection glitter in her emerald eyes. "Indeed you can. It's a much better view than back in the trees." He looked back to the trees and her focus settled back on him. Perhaps a change of subject would make the youth more comfortable. "So you're from Inferni? Do you know Ryan? She's a good friend of mine." Hopefully talking about his home would ease him into the conversation. If he did know Ryan then it would give them something to connect with, a common ground. That always made first meetings go more smoothly.

sorry for the wait! :[ (371)

Jael had been raised simply to hate. Irony was, it was to hate himself, for he was more wolf than anything else, and his sire had attempted to cause him to hate and destroy all wolves. An ignorant, unlikely creature he would have been, marveling at a species whose blood rarely ran through his veins, and yet disregarding his own heritage as a wolf. He’d chosen the path of the coyote by joining Inferni and his family there—but he was still a wolf and knew he would always be, no matter how hard he tried to pretend otherwise. He’d never had time to observe the world around him save on his own time—reveling in the beauty around him and life itself. Over time he’d became more and more aware of how amazing existence was and how brief and easily destroyed his fragile being was. And while he’d never admit that he stared at the stars at night or the sun rising in the dawn, he knew they were there and marveled at them. The subject was changed from the star-strewn heavens, moving onto Jael’s own home within the clan. “Ryan?” he said, repeating the name to ensure it correct before continuing. “I know more of her than anything. I’ve yet to properly meet her,” Jael said, feeling this input was rather useless to the conversation.

Jael He knew the woman was related to him from Gabriel and co-lead the pack, but he hadn’t yet gone around and encountered every single member of the coyote clan yet. It really wasn’t in his nature anyway—chance would have to throw the two together. “I haven’t been around for that long,” he said, supplying an explanation for having not yet met someone he probably should have by now. “What pack are you from?” he asked, softly sniffing the scents that permeated her shadowy coat, placing them to memory. As he’d said, he was still new to the area and didn’t know much about the surrounding wolf packs yet. He’d thrown the question out in an attempt to learn more and further the conversation, for he figured this wouldn’t go well if he simply stuck to simple answers and nothing more. At least he was trying.

No worries Smile 300+

The animosity between wolves and coyotes here was like nothing she had ever seen before and something she found hard to grasp. Savina was not one to hold a prejudice against any particular group or species. She judged people on their own terms and individually. There was only one coyote in these lands that she considered an enemy, and while he did belong to the clan that Jael was a part of, she did not lump the rest of them into that category. Anselm, while he had still been here had been a friend and she had grown incredibly close to his daughter. Some here must have been taught to hate from their youngest days, that was the only explanation she could find. She found that hatred was often passed down, at least hatred of such potency and ignorance.

He hadn't met Ryan, but he said that he was also very new to these lands. She nodded in acknowledgment. "I see. Well she's very nice, one of the nicest people I know in fact. I wish we could see each other more often, but I'm sure you understand that can be difficult." Undoubtedly he had experienced how some of his fellow clanmembers felt, even if he did not share those feelings (which as far as she could tell, he didn't). It wasn't as if she were welcome near Inferni in the first place, being a wolf, but after what had occurred between her and Hybrid she didn't dare travel there. Unfortunately that meant that she seldom got to see her good friend.

"I'm from Crimson Dreams. It's not far from here, just a little to the east," she said motioning in that direction. "It's very nice there, peaceful." It was a peaceful existence that she strove to lead. While she had her problems with her anger at times, generally she was a calm and laid back wolf, preferring to spend time with her mate and family and friends then anything else.

“It’s sad that it has to be that way,” Jael comment, voice growing soft and bitterness distinctly lacing each word. He hated how much animosity there was in the world, but he could understand the physics behind it. Wolves were larger predators and coyotes smaller scavengers feasting and picking from the same food supplies. Any competition for sustenance needed to be eliminated or chased away, and in this case it was the coyotes. Jael despised it, knowing his blood was shared between both species (though far, far more wolf) and hated how he had to choose a side rather than dwell comfortable in both worlds. But this wolf didn’t seem to mind him or his clan, and he was genuinely surprised at this turn of events.

“Why don’t you hate coyotes?” he asked shyly, fiery eyes glancing sidelong at the shadowy female. Obviously she longed to continue her friendship with Ryan, but such was impended by the distinct boundary between species, held up by solid hatred and discrimination. Jael longed for a peaceful life as she spoke of her own pack, wishing to simply lay back and watched the stars and sunrise each day, thinking about nothing more than what he’d fill his belly with in the morning.

s'ok Smile 300+

The dark woman nodded her head slowly in agreement to the younger boy's words, a sadness evident in her jewel-like orbs. "Yes, it is sad that things are that way." It was a way she was unfamiliar with. While she knew the rules and was able to play the game, it was not a game she relished playing. She held no ill will towards Inferni and wished that she would be free to visit Ryan whenever it suited. There was only one, perhaps two, that lived there that she held any animosity towards. For while it had been Hybrid to break her friend, the leader of the clan had allowed such a transgression to occur. Pilot had been missing for a month, and no wolf inside the clan would have gone unnoticed for so long. Their leader had flirted with war, letting a subleader of a pack be held and treated in such a way. If Savina had known at the time, surely a conflict would have broken out.

Jael's question somewhat startled her and she turned her head to give him a surprised look. Did the poor youth really believe that all wolves hated coyotes and vice versa? "Hate is a powerful thing that can eat someone alive if they let it. I try my best to keep hate from my life." Of course she harbored hatred towards a select few individuals. The Italian was not a saint, after all. "Hating an entire group makes no sense. Especially a group that is so similar to oneself. There is good and bad in each of us, just as there is good and bad individuals in each species. To lump all as evil because of a bad encounter with one is a gross misjudgment. I decide what I think of individuals, not of an entire group of people." She seldom called particular beliefs out as being wrong, but the way some hated around here was indeed wrong. All it caused was pain and suffering.
