you promised me forever

It had been a long while and though he had made a promise of sorts to keep away from the lands of Inferni it was a promise he knew he couldn't keep. When the woman he still loved and cared for lived within those borders and he was kept on the other side of the line it made the world a dark and sorry place. Like a good leader he kept up his duties and continued on protecting his pack but the hollow place in his heart called night and day. It was too much for one man to handle.

Once more DaVinci had found himself standing too close to their lands and yet too far from the woman who had captured his heart as bound his soul. He paced the mountainside as he tried to find a solution to the issue that had haunted him so long. He had yet to find one yet and his heart ached from the consequence of thus.

The male gave a sigh as he turned his face away from watching, just wishing for once that there was something worth remaining in this hell on earth. If not for his children and the pack he would have left long ago.. or so he'd convinced himself after many moons of brooding.

Ryan had made a promise to herself to make a better effort at being a decent leader to the clan. Now that that she had decided to clear her mind of distractions, the girl had begun to pay better attention to the responsibilities that came with being Centurion. This included the not-so-fabulous errand of remarking the borders and keeping an eye for wandering paws. So far, her rounds had been rather uneventful. She had started on the western most side of Inferni’s borders not far from where she and Valkyrie shared a den. From there she circled around south, slowly making her way up the eastern side of the clan’s lands. Eventually, she rounded around the northeastern most point of the borders, Halcyon looming as a backdrop to the scenery.

There was nothing of interest in sight, but it was the scent that made Ryan come to a halt. She turned her face to the breeze, searching for that same smell again so she could determine where it was coming from. The rhythm of her heart increased and a flutter of butterflies took over her stomach. The scent didn’t make her hair stand on end because she was scared or defensive; she was nervous and excited - she knew it was him.

Ryan hiked through the grass, leaving the border of Inferni behind her. It wasn’t until she laid eyes on the silvery blue frame of his that Ryan’s heart started to beat widely against her ribs. Her mouth seemed to lock shut, and her throat suddenly was too dry. She tried to speak, but failed. It didn’t seem like he had noticed her yet, but perhaps her scent had reached him. When she was finally able to bring herself to speak, the first words to tumble were, "You shouldn’t be here, so close." And although as one of the leaders of Inferni her words should have emitted stern and warning, the simple phrase was tender and concerned, much like it would be from a hopeless girl like her.

While Ryan had begun to settle into her clan and the way of life it afforded her DaVinci had strayed from the straight and narrow and had found himself floundering in emotions and desires he couldn't understand. The world had not been nice to him and he didn't expect a break to ever be given to him. The male had been about to turn and make his way up the mountain to look over the ashlands that once had been his home.. but just as one paw had made to leave the view of the clan's lands behind a voice cast over him, causing his shoulders to sink slightly as he closed his eyes. He believed for a second that it must have all been a dream, afraid as he was to open those stormy orbs and see the truth for himself.

Not realizing that he had been holding his breath until the burning in his lungs had advised him to exhale the male finally let out a long sigh as he took the chance and turned to face the woman who had tormented his heart and soul for far too long yet had stayed out of reach in every way. DaVinci normally had a million words for the woman and yet it seemed it always came down to the bitter truth between them of the hostile world they lived on and the tracks that lay between them. His eyes fell on her familiar form as the want to touch her, to know she was really there overwhelmed him.

The male was known for his brash actions but he'd never gone that far in the face of his love, not til now. Stepping forward he reached for her, his fingers trembling as they stopped short along her cheek, afraid to even let the gentle carass fall upon her form as he yearned for her like no other. His breath was ragged as he whispered. "I had to see you.." To breath in her scent, feel the warmth of her body, say her name.. and hear his in turn. It was dangerous, the game he played but he meant to end it here and now.
