one safe place

He was happy. Of course, the idea of being happy had never crossed his mind ― he simply was, and felt that he had never had any reason to be anything else. He was a social creature by nature, and still he missed the company of those his own age, but with Faolin, he had not felt any less comfortable or any more misplaced. In fact, her presence had been welcome, even before he had so much as an inkling that they shared common family ties (more or less). Loneliness was not a question anymore, or shouldn't have been, as his exploration and little adventures within the clan territory had kept him more than occupied. Besides, here he was not alone, and even if he felt it, there was no chance whatsoever that he would complain of it. There were plenty of other coyotes he could meet, other places to investigate, and the most important of all: family. Having family around him was something that he felt he could never trade for anything, nor would he ever want to. The next time he went in search of family (Segodi), he would surely tell someone (Faolin), because he could not risk losing any of them again.

Although the territory seemed desolate enough, he found everything he came across to be absolutely fascinating. Since his arrival, he had awoken early every morning to watch the sun rise, spend his day instigating his own distractions, and when the sun began to duck down beyond the horizon, he would watch the sky until his eyes began to close before finally trudging his way back to the house and taking quiet refuge in the room that he had chosen as his sister had suggested. Now, the snow had stopped falling all together, and the sky had cleared, the sunlight finally shining down on him again, and he nosed his way under low branches among the treeline that stood outside the beach until he emerged. Large ears flipped this way and that while maintaining a middle ground forward toward the sea, his tail wagging happily, and his eyes bright with wonder.

I want something good to die for

To make it beautiful to live

___.Yawning, the girl made her way out of the house. She had found her sleeping habits being disturbed by the young ones that were growing more rapidly in her stomach. Faol had to make it a habit of going to sleep early, to wake up after dawn. She also had to take naps through out the day. Her stomach was much more noticeable now, and she could feel her increasing weight. She was a month away and the time was flying by much quicker than she had anticipated. What could she do? The temperature was warming up a bit over the last couple of days, not enough for the snow to melt, but it was noticeable. Hopefully by February it would not be too cold. With all kinds of family returning she would have plenty of others that would be willing to help and look after the little ones she had, however many that would be.

___.As she padded her way through the forest a familiar scent caught her nose and she decided to follow it. Jesile was a sweet boy and she had already taken a liking to him. Creamy paws took her forward, she poked her rusty coloured muzzle out from a couple branches rimmed with pine needles and noticed him walking down the beach. She quickly picked up her pace and fell into step beside him. "I see you have settled in quite nicely. I'm glad you had decided to stay," she smiled warmly. She had given him a brief rundown of Inferni and showed him a place to stay, but this had been the first time since she had been able to catch the boy before he was off in the morning. Sleep had found her early in the evening and right up and past dawn. It must have been that he rose early. Gabriel had already starting fussing over how much she was eating and she was happy to have caught her own breakfast this morning.

His senses seemed to ignite. The familiar scent and the sound of the pine branches jostling ever so gently snatched his attention and he turned his head over his shoulder, pausing to greet the girl with excited grin. When she caught up to him, he resumed walking, eager to talk to her about anything and everything.
"I am too!" he affirmed with a smile. "How are you?" It was nice to think of someone else again, rather than worrying about his own well-being. He regretted that he hadn't spoken with her or even seen her since the day that she had invited him to stay in Inferni, but she was here now, and so he could make up for that. The boy's eyes shone brightly as he glanced up at her, continuing to walk beside her, and he hoped that he would be able to make up for that sort of thing for a long time to come. Especially if Segodi were to return.

Once again, the idea of his entire family all together ignited something in his heart the way his senses had ignited only moments ago. He was a few months from being an adult yet, but when that day finally came, and if his ― no, their ― father had not shown up, maybe he would be able to take some time to go look for him! Finally, after having run this through his mind so many times, he decided that when the time was right, or when the topic was brought up, he would talk to Faolin about it. She was, after all, the only one he could really talk to at the moment, and she was his family. If he could ask anyone about it, and if there was anyone who deserved or cared to know about it, it was her.
