This is in Ethereal Eclipse.

time will heal even a heart of steel

Strange images raced through her mind as she sat still, taking the scenery around her. There was nothing special about it, really, just regular wild growth and lots and lots of trees. It was an eerie place, but she'd stopped here not for the place's picturesque qualities. Somehow, with all these trees around her, she felt as if in a private place. Like they created bars or walls of privacy, shielding her from the rest of the world. Shielding her from the reality she didn't approve of. Because there were relationships one would want, and relationships one would not want. She'd run away once, because of abandonment, because of loneliness. No one had missed her anyway, had even granted her disappearance a thought. Years later her mother had dragged herself back to here, where she'd already come for shelter, and she'd been surprised she was even alive. Haku, too, had seemed surprised, but he had at least expressed some joy to see her. Perhaps it was Tokyo who had been the catalyst, talking about Melisande all of a sudden. It was strange how issues raced into reality once voiced aloud. She'd rather never have talked about it at all.

Her green orbs followed a squirrel's flight in the treetops for a moment before she grew bored from this activity too. Sighing heavily, she stared at nothing again. Surrounded by the dim daylight under the blanket of crown leaves, her furs seemed merely gray, but in daylight she shone as if the sun herself. It was fitting, perhaps, her dimmed pelt in her dimmed kind of mood. There was nothing shining inside of her this day.
