Leaves are falling down
#1
Ember

She could see it there, atop the tall stump, the leaf that had floated down from the skies and landed. It was a beautiful thing, a deep red color with soft streaks of yellow down the very edges and, above all else, Ember wanted it as her own. Of course, she hadn't wandered far from home, her parents often reminded her about just how dangerous it could be, which meant that she was lingering just outside the den. It wasn't often that she went outside on her own but, while laying at the entrance staring out, she just happened to notice the beautiful leaf drifting down from the sky. Now, Ember was quite the bright child despite her age, which meant that she understood that it was far to high to climb and that she simply couldn't reach enough to swipe it off. That left one course of action, she had to find another way to knock it down.

Seating herself, Ember stared up at the stump through bright green eyes. It took her a few moments of sitting and staring, using that time to think, to finally come up with a plan. Excited, she thrust herself back up to her paws, moving in a careful motion backward, away from the stump and the prize that sat atop it. Finally she stopped, a good few feet away, and immediately charged forward, tucking her head to her chest so that the top of it was aimed for the stump. After a few short moments a rather loud "Thump!" resounded through the area and Ember bounced back a few inches, landing on her rear in a rather woozy fashion. Zoned out for a moment, she simply sat.

Dierdre

Dierdre had been pretty busy lately, getting their den ready for winter. This would be her second winter in Bleeding Souls, spent, yet again, without her mother. This time, though, it wasn't because Deuce had left, but because Dierdre was off on her own. She was in a completely different pack from her pale mother. She did visit Deuce, Lucifer, and Shadow from time to time, but she felt like she didn't really know them. A little bit like an outsider.

That suited her, though. She had her entire other family to look out after, here in Storm. She'd never leave Phoenix, Iskata, Sun, Moon, Pilot, and the puppies. Some wolves liked to roam around, and not settle down...and she'd been that way once, too, but now she was different. Maybe in a few months she'd even be able to start a family of her own, little sons and daughters to explore the lands that she loved so much.

Dierdre had taken the post of babysitter before, whenever Iskata and Phoenix had needed a break and Sun or Moon hadn't been around, and sometimes Pilot helped. He was really good around the young ones-really gentle.

Today she was heading along one of the familiar trails through the territory, going off toward the creek to fish. They'd need some more food to put into the hole they'd dug into the ground, for winter storage, and she was up for the job of gathering it. She spotted the little one amongst the brush to one side of the trail, next to a rather large tree stump.

"You don't look too good--what happened, sweetie?" The young one was looking upwards and blinking a lot, like she'd just fallen down from somewhere, or something. Dierdre nosed her worriedly, nudging against her little chin. "Did you fall down?"
