Haku had been thoughtful after waking up later that odd night weeks before and realizing that yes, he was still alive. Of course, he knew that more than physical powers had to be put in motion in order to conquer his life force. The dark secui wondered if he had ever been closer, though. What was worse, it felt like as if he had been enchanted somehow by the scarred bitch that had humiliated him so by being victorious. Haku was not well, and his inside was constant chaos. Yet, he felt both love and hate for that spiteful woman. Haku was a cruel and unfair creature if anything, but he knew how to appreciate value. Gabriel was out after his head. Haku, being who he was, felt that there was nothing personal between himself and the Aquila of Inferni. Gabriel on the other hand ached to rip Haku’s heart and soul out. The de le Poer wanted to destroy him. Despite this, Haku held a strange respect for the man, simply because the Aquila was a worthy being.

Just like Gabriel, the nameless hybrid woman had been weighted and measures, and been found worthy. Haku would not stop now before he had tasted her blood once again. Despite what she had done to him, he caught himself wondering if he truly wished death upon her. It would be such a shame to extinguish such a magnificent individual. Oh, Haku knew how to appreciate those few who were something special. The forest of Ethereal Eclipse was quiet this early morning. The man could easily appreciate such a setting. The nameless hybrid with the odd star tattoo upon her chest had left her marks. The worst (in Haku’s opinion) would be the new slash across the left side of his muzzle. It was also the most painful one. Haku had noticed very little when it had been made. He was very tolerant of pain in general, but it ached every time he made a facial expression, every time he opened his mouth. Damn that woman.

The man decided to take a break under a tree particularly rich with leaves. This summer had wept heavily, and today too had brought rain together with a distant rumble of what could only be thunder.

She was unsure if it was safe to call her journey to Dahlia a successful one. Her intentions had been clear, and yet it had been so easy for her to get sidetracked. The woman had not even gone any further then the woad female’s home, turning around after her visit there and seeking the solace of her homelands. Restless, and even agitated Anu walked through the wood with her head hung low, blue eyes not even rising to greet the Sun that filtered through the heavy canopy. A night away from Crimson Dreams was rare, especially with the instability that pack so recently faced. And yet, Anu walked slowly. Her thoughts heavy, her heart unsure.

The lavender that she had brought to Dahlia, as a gift for the Haki fey, was discarded at her resting place, between the roots of the ancient elm. He had guarded her during the summer eve, and as she had rested her head upon the stalks of lavender small pedals still lingered in her fur. She liked the scent, resting just above the nap of her neck, but found that it reminded her of rest and dreams. Though not enough to bring her peace.

Light paws danced over the leaf litter and small grasses of the shadow dotted floor, only her nose working to find what lay beyond her path. It was a scent that she took up in her steady breath that awoke her from her consuming thoughts. It was of blood, the vaguest hint, dried perhaps. She slowed, and noticed the presence of another, was it watching her? She walked a few steps further, and then eyes the hued of the Sun’s throne found the origin of the stench. Startled by the sight of him, Anu could only stand motionless and in silence

Surprisingly, it seemed to take a moment or two before the large hybrid form of the Dahlian beta registered the presence of another. Brilliant blue lifted to meet the form of an individual that he had yet to run into before. The blood stain that clung to his pelt did no longer grace his nose with delicious memories of red liquid. It had been exposed to that scent for too long for now, so the scented molecules were no longer effective with the activation of the olfactory sense. What he could detect now was the hint of Crimson Dreams and lavender. Yes, lavender. His eyes slowly bloomed into mild curiosity. The traps along Dahlia de Mai’s borders did no longer seem to carry the scent of lavender. The guilty had been clever, and the heavy downpour had helped both washing away scent and disguising those horrid bear traps partly by mud. What did she think of the monster she had approached? Did she know who he was? Some seemed to only by throwing a glance on him. He seemed to be a well known creature through rumours.

The man did not get up, as he had found a comfortable position that he would rather not leave now when he had found it. A few moments passed before he decided to throw on a plain smile. One could not roam around and be a monster twenty four seven either, after all. ”Miss?” the Dahlian male uttered pleasantly, voice smoother than the usual rumble. If he looked as horrible as he felt, then he could very well understand if she decided to turn around and flee. Females were good at fleeing.

Maybe she should have known him on sight, but Anu did not. In the end she would kick herself for not knowing the instant that he spoke. A deep voice that called to her. It had been some time since one had called her a Miss, she was far from young, even if her features did not speak of her age. He wore a smile, not inviting and welcoming and still Anu stepped forward. “Sir,” She spoke, formal and slightly in mock of his greeting. Thoughts that plagued her fell away and she found pleasure in the distraction. No longer did the little female that she wanted so badly to have filled her mind’s eye, all she saw was the chocolate male. Tattered and bruised.

She took a moment to take him in, and found the sight of him astonishing. It seemed that he had been beaten, by a bear she guess by the wolf’s size. Anu felt a smile form itself to her mouth, fear did not grip her and such a thing was as pleasurable as the distraction that she had been given. She was outside the Dreaming lands, alone and in the presence of a beast that was formidable and from a first impression quick to fight. But she had yet to hear his story, if ever he cared to tell it, who knew maybe a bear had gotten a hold of him and none of it his own doing. “you seem distressed.” Anu finished, her voice unnaturally smooth. A voice told her that he would not hurt her, being pained so much already.

There was no trail of fear oozing from the female, and it almost puzzled the demonic male. These last months had been much wilder than what he was accustomed to. He had not roamed this wildly in a long time. As a travelling loner, the man had gone through with horrible crimes. In the start he had sought relief by shedding his own blood. Those scars were forever visible on his front limbs, old cuts starting at the base of his wrist and travelling upwards. Some where ivory and old like the rest of his tainted body, but there were fresher ones, still red against the creamy colouration of his fur. His ears perked as she too finally spoke, and his plain smile suddenly wanted to turn into a mischievous grin. Touché.

He shrugged at her next words, shaking his head slowly as his blue eyes travelled away to receive those fascinating mental images of the wild woman that had attempted to take his life. Or had she consciously granted him his life back? The man remembered sliding down into darkness with blood polishing his senses and push against his mental pleasure centre. He knew not of what had happened. He merely knew that the demon was not done and could not been banished before hell had been let loose here on earth. Haku knew he was only the vessel, but this meant that he held immunity. He loved the thought of that, of being something more than merely an insignificant creature like the rest of them.

”A girl beat me up.” the man honestly revealed, though allowing those masculine tones to gleam slightly with humour so that the truth of those words could be well doubted. No one was to find out that he had been outclassed by a woman. Oh, and what a woman it had been. ”You’re one of those early morning birds, I assume?” he questioned, slowly starting to alter the topic.

Her fear had been able to be controlled since she had met Gabriel. And oddly the beast of a wolf reminded her of the doggy hybrid. He was one of faith, conviction, and his words had brought her to greater realizations of her own faith, and her own conviction. No, she did not believe her god would save her from this male, she only knew that he would not attack her outright. Anu even felt for him, and for the briefest of moment wished to help clean his wounds. It passed when he spoke. He could lick his own wounds.

“She must be quite a woman.” Her voice told him. The smile did not change, even if she wanted to share the humor that laced his words. It would be wrong to instigate a fight with the scarred creature, Anu was not one to tease a lion so close to its cage. His claws were still sharp and if she got too close and too arrogant he would still scratch her. “Just heading home. A morning such as this is peaceful.” The Dreamer commented. Though she had been far from peace. Every time blue-water eyes looked to him she found something new, cuts of old and of current healing. He was unique in his patters, stripped like no other. Anu was not lost to scars, but hers were hidden beneath fur and years old. The nameless was not so modest.

“You don’t like the morning? Though I guess your night didn’t allow must rest.” Anu spoke, as a second thought. She wondered what he had done to unleash the rage of the female. Her eyes looked at him a hint of suspicion, a shadow of the look that should have been there all along.

True, quite the woman. He wanted to know more. Who was this one eyed woman with the crimson star? Nothing like this one was. She seemed to be one of those so common, uncorrupted and beyond his understanding. He loathed his Rosea because he had ceased to look at things from her point of view. Or perhaps stopped attempting to would be a better way of speaking. Those intense blue pools remained on those of that blue, pure water. Would he despise this woman if he knew her better?

Peaceful seemed like a fitting word to mornings in generals. The creatures of the night went to rest before the first rays of the sun danced through the sleeping lands. He had once been intrigued by the blushing colours that accompanied the sun mornings and evenings. He could not appreciate such a thing any longer though. Lillith had most likely closed her eyes and gone to sleep in the pitch black of a windowless room by now somewhere in the city. ”Your morning is my evening, I prefer the night.” the man honestly answered, though not truly revealing whether or not he liked mornings. It was insignificant. He had no preferences, except for that the night offered disguise and a calm that only the hunter in action would know. He did not believe she would be able to understand if he had said this though. They did not want to understand what was not a common trait.

His night had been as calm as any. He did not run after innocent creatures these nights and days though. There was also the cut drawn on the fragile skin where his leg connected with the rest of his body, causing him to limp. Not because of the pain, but because normal movement so strongly wanted to tear it up again and make it bleed for all eternity. His wounds were healing, and there were many days and nights since he woke up to again walk with the living. ”These wounds are not as fresh as you seem to believe. It’s a while ago, though they take their time to heal.”

Mornings were giving. They provided light for a new day, the possibility for something better in the ways of one’s life. The morning was a time where the Sun rose to greet you, welcoming one to the day and giving an encouraging guide. Anu sat, not too close and still not too far for this conversation. It was odd that she did not recognize him for who he truly was, but at times she wished to be ignorant to those that held a shadowed heart. She could sense his honestly, and that was enough for her. If she knew more of him, knew even just his name she would have to hate him like the rest. Like the female that tore flesh from his body she would have to despise and loath his very being. But the morning was so calm, the birds even finding the silence worth holding onto. Anu hardly heard their calls.

“A healer, bandages at the least might have helped with the worst of them.” She looked at his face, content with ignoring the scars that tempted her eyes to look again. It was rude to stare. Thoughts drifted to the woman that had once been the healer of her pack, but that was no more. Anu would no more trust her to sew a wound then she would allow herself to venture any closer to the resting beast. They had indeed deceived her, but then at a second glance at the line across his face she figured that it could look far worse. She wondered if he felt enhanced by the scars, or uglier. "They might not have scarred so crudely.” She commented, not intending to sound that she though him disfigured by the marks. Anu could find the beauty in even the ugliest of flowers.

short post! D:

She sat down and it seemed like she would be staying for a little while. He did not mind as long as she did not become a true bother. Haku had not looked for a healer. He did not see it as necessary either. There were no infections (he had been lucky) and the wounds eventually seemed to be healing. Her comment caused his gaze to sharpen up and narrow slightly. Haku was quite shallow in many ways, but he lusted more for blood than anything else. As long as his body did as he commanded he was alright. Beauty was a fleeting thing, and if he could not get what he wanted with his appearance alone, then he would take it by force. Life was easy seen from his point of view. Did she think he was hideout to look at? He would understand if she did, as her features were quite lovely if he was to say so himself. ”Dahlia does not have a healer.” the male’s excuse sounded. He had not bothered seeking out a healer from one of the other packs. It had not seemed necessary, and he mainly just wanted to be left alone so that he could recover in peace. "Am I unpleasant to look at?" He lowly wondered, not letting his own gaze stray from her face.

short posts ftw!

It was not until he said so that Anu registered that he was a Dahlian. How foolish of her to not notice. He smelt of them, the same scent that lingered on her own pelt. Her face made no notion of not knowing, but she did find it odd that the pack went with out a practitioner. A pack of warriors, as she knew Cwmfen to be and now this male, and with no one to tend to their wounds. It made little sense. No beast was beyond casualties, however well they were at fighting. They would be smart to invest in a beast that knew the art of healing. Anu wished she could say that Crimson Dreams would welcome him and their own healer would see to the cuts. But just as Dahlia, the Dreamers went without as well.

His question was an obvious one, and yet she had not expected it. She asked herself the same, and found that he was certainly harsh on the eyes. And yet, “They only distract me from truly seeing you.” was the answer that she gave. Again and again she tried to see who he was, and each time she caught herself tracing the line of yet another newly discovered scar.

Her scent and appearance, everything about her, had already been memorized and stored in the beast’s memory. Whether or not he would be able to dig it up again for later use was rather uncertain, because his mind was not always his own. The clock was ticking, always ticking away and stealing those precious fragments of his soul. The darkness pulsed silently beneath the surface, but the ocean that once had been crystal blue, then dark indigo, now held only black. He wondered if this female too would be able to taste the taint if she was to come closer. Haku had seen dark ghosts and shadows guiding his way in the past. Hallucinations that had led him to blood. He had not seen them lately, but he knew they were there, lurking just barely out of sight, just in the corner of his eyes. Whenever he turned to investigate this further, however, there was nothing. Always nothing. They were inside of him now.

An unpleasant smirk was what met the female once those words of hers were out in the open. Did she realize how lucky she was? ”That is a good thing.” the male responded, brilliant blue staying on her, hinting of darker forces dancing behind that deceiving colour. He had killed one of her pack members and she would never know. Perhaps he would whisper his dark secrets to her before his jaws were to silence her. Her coat whispered lavender, and he, like many other Dahlia members, had detected the hint of that same scent lingering with the dangerous traps that had been laid out, hungrily seeking misfortunate and careless body parts. ”Lavender is a dangerous scent to carry these days.” the man suddenly whispered, realizing that he could take this fresh evidence up with Dahlia’s leadership. Did the wolves of this woman’s pack carry such dreams as the pack’s name suggested?

Anu would not forget, for rarely she did these days. Mainly it was the past before meeting Naniko that Anu cared to forget. Those days were filled with a vague sense of indifference, as if whether they happened or not didn’t matter. She had come to these lands with very little of who she was programmed. But now, a year that felt like a lifetime past, Anu was sure of who she was. He would not be forgotten, nor would the peaceful morning that he was met leave her memory. She would also remember that he was hiding the truth, her eyes gave the unease she felt surrounding the subject. Was it best? Anu questioned, becoming curious to know what he hid but not fond of the lies that might possibly be flowing from his lips.

By the look of him, it was a gruesome and deadly trail that he left in his midst. “For whom?” she questioned, neither a smile, nor a frown playing on her face. She would be frightened to know who he was, and there would be hatred but Anu did not know such truth. Not yet. And with the very little she knew Anu was not one to only go skin deep. This male, with lines that wrote his history across his skin, made her want to learn to read the script.

His comment reminded her of the woad woman’s words. “Metal that bites wears the scent. Cwmfen told me.” Anu spoke with a calm tone. If he was Dahlian, that he would know the warrior for sure. “I only hoped to bring some to a friend. Do you take me for dangerous?” She smiled only softly at the end of her question. The gift had not made it to Colibri, but Anu blamed it on fatigue and cowardliness.

Hai I suck

A smile was the only answer to her little question. For Haku it was obvious, but he played with the realization that this woman actually did not seem to know who she was talking with. Yes, he found her ignorance quite odd. Or perhaps he just thought he was more famous than what he actually was. His teeth clutched together with a crushing sound, breaking into the morning’s natural harmony. She seemed to know enough about the ‘biting’ metal. That too was now a widely spread rumour. ”Cwmfen.” the man repeated, thoughts moving over to the yet black Adonis. ”Which friend? A member of Dahlia?” As for being dangerous.. ”I don’t know, are you?” The male flashed with that unpleasant smile again.

She could not decide if he was interested in the answers, or gave the questions out of boredom. Anu kept just beyond his reach, not the normal distance for conversation but the male did not seem to mind. He spoke with a smile that told a deadly story, sinister and bold. She found it hard to look at it, and the lines it created on his face, but she forced herself to do so. Blue eyes looked deeper, in a way that they had not before.
"Yes," she spoke as if he asked if it was truly Cwmfen that she had visited. The feeling washed over her, a creature that dug claws deep into her spine. it was sudden, and at the same moment slow and eerie.

The courage that Anu had been so oddly granted was slipping and fading in his presence. Her eyes were soft, and yet as she looked the scars of his face became dark and bold, as if spelling out the letters of his identity.
"a Dahlian" Anu fought to ignore it, and looked away to the morning that was breaching the wooded horizon.
"No, I am no more then what you see." Fragile, soft and gentle. Just as he was the opposite.

Hai I suck AGAIN

There was little that was normal with Haku. Truth be told he always chose loneliness before company, but greediness and sin was what kept him where he was. There would be a time for him too, one day. He had little interest in this woman in truth, but she seemed to be one of those who wanted to give every one a chance to show that they were nice. Haku was not nice. She did not give the man a name and Haku was determined to push further just because he could. ”A name would be sufficient, I think.” the man said, voice almost hollow with the lack of general emotion that ever so often was brought into speech. He believed her when she admitted that she was no more than the fragile flesh and blood that he could see. He offered her a mocking smile.

Pale face and bright gaze looked back to him, and she found that he was uglier then any creature she had ever seen. And still she tolerated the sight, found that even in the horror she found beauty. It was skin deep, it there was truly any. Perhaps it was only her imagination that made her wish that there was something more then the demon that he truly was. Did she just wish to be blind to all that he naturally was? To Anu truth was above them all, below only the Sun. But she did not want to see the truth that was played in the lines of his body.

To no one she had confessed, not even those that were closest to her. Who was he to know? And still...“Colibri.” She spoke the name, no fear in her voice. She was proud of the love her held, and it was not until her next breath that Anu came to realize that what she spoke was a truth she should hold closer and more securely to her heart. It was only lavender, only a few stalks of flowers. Nothing. And yet everything. He would only mock her, and yet Anu braced herself for the laughter. She emptied her eyes of emotion, impossible and yet Anu tried.
