we set sail with no fixed star in sight

300+ Would you mind if we back-dated this to Saturday? o:

Indecision hung over the Marino man like a veil, clouding his vision and remaining in his thoughts every second of every day, just a solemn whisper in the back of his mind. He had managed to shush those stressful thoughts down to that simple whisper during the last week, feeling more at peace when he wasn’t dwelling on the situation. He couldn’t put it off forever, he knew that, but it hurt less to simply try to pretend that everything was still normal. It was cowardly to act like there was no choice between staying with his family in Crimson Dreams and moving to live with his new, budding family in Phoenix Valley. Part of him felt like it already knew the answer. Whatever decision he eventually came to, he knew he couldn’t put his current task off any longer. Ehno needed to be there for Naniko when the pups came. When their pups came.

The Dreamer Captain drifted along the outskirts of the eastern pack, amber eyes taking in the scenery. He was searching for any sign that Naniko had already arrived here in the pack, though he knew it was unlikely that he would find anything. The pale lady would most likely was sitting comfortably within these pack lands already, considering how soon the little ones should be arriving, but Ehno felt uncertain lingering around the borders without knowing for sure. The man came to a halt and shuffled his two feet uncomfortably, glancing uneasily around the perimeter. A pack member was bound to discover him sooner or later, and the fact that he had been lingering around the pack’s territory for so long would make him look rather suspicious. His nervous shifting from one foot to another would only put him under more scrutiny. Ehno took a deep breath to calm his nerves and slipped his worn travel bag from one shoulder to the other. He let forth a low howl, a simple call to make any nearby Phoenix Valley residents aware of his presence. The Italian man stopped shuffling around anxiously and settled into a more positive stance, feeling more confident after his call.

sorry this sucks so bad. x.x and sure? xD

The time spent alone had not been too healthy for the border collie- he was quickly becoming more and more irritable and had found himself growing increasingly tentative on whether or not lingering was worth the trouble- he'd have more luck for social interaction wandering the streets of Halifax. Still, he told himself repeatedly, with a pack he would find security- and, apparently, a place where he would have to do little more than lounge. Jefferson had said that eventually he might be able to herd, but at the same time, he had not been evaluated in any way; nor had he been able to prove his worth whatsoever. Indeed, the majority of Kæ's time had been spent scouring the pages of his poetry anthology for a phrase or word he might have missed; if he wasn't reading, he was watching the lagging movements of the sheep or avidly practicing his magic- or his newest endeavor, juggling. A wry smile flickered across his face at the thought; even with opposable thumbs it was more than difficult to properly grasp or catch the round objects he was using.

A call, carried on the wind, found its way to his lazily flicking ears as the unshifted dog trotted round the borders; it was not his job, but he hoped that perhaps Jefferson or the elusive Geneva might see him making some use of himself and take note of it. As the howl caught his attention, however, Kvæsir's body stopped its motion, one paw still raised in midstep and his brow stitching above sienna eyes. It took him a moment to decide whether or not the duty was actually delegated towards never members such as himself, but upon remembering the warm greeting that Naniko had given him, he couldn't help but think that if it was a hopeful newcomer Kæ would want to give this new wolf the same treatment. If not- if it was someone with negative intentions- then Kvæsir would have no choice but to attempt and oust him from the lands without getting many others involved. He hoped, of course, that it was the first. Being nearly pure border collie, he was rather slender, and was obviously built for speed and agility rather than brute strength, even in his Optime or Secui forms.

Darting through the trees that lined the outskirts, the black and white furred young man was moving at an easy lope, tongue lolling and large ears streaming along behind his head. Twice he thought he saw movement out of the corner of his eye and jerked to a stop before moving on- the third time, however, he saw the origin of the full-bodied howl: a large man, standing with a pack slung over his shoulder. Kvæsir barked as he approached, eyeing the Luperci warily. Trying to remember the words that Naniko had spoken to him, he hesitated before speaking, tail inadvertently swinging slowly to a stop and rising above his back. "You've reached the Phoenix Valley borders, stranger," his tenor voice was nothing less than pleasant, though he remained several lengths from the other. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

300+ I see nothing wrong with your post! Mine, on the other hand... D:

Ehno glanced around anxiously as he waited for the inevitable arrival of one of the pack members. How simple this would be if Naniko would show up, but he knew that was unlikely to happen, even if she had already arrived here. He hadn’t seen her for a while, and he began to wonder how she was fairing. It had been weeks since he last seen her, he reminded himself with slight guilt. He hoped the woman was no longer feeling any lasting cravings from her recently kicked addiction. But he trusted her. She said the pregnancy had helped her fight it, and he believed that she was telling the truth. Her pregnancy had only just begun to start showing at that time, and by now she would be reaching the final stages of it. The little ones could be coming any day now. He didn’t want to miss it. Excitement swelled within his chest just at the thought of it.

A short bark pulled him from his thoughts, drawing his gaze to the sight of a smaller canine approaching. This pack member had a peculiar fur pattern and features, allowing Ehno to easily identify him as neither a wolf nor a coyote, but a dog. He’d seen enough of the distantly related canines to not be surprised how different each one could look. “Hey,” he greeted, offering the young man a smile. The Marino lowered his tail automatically, ears moving to an angle closer to his skull. He wasn’t exactly joining, but Ehno still knew to be respectful. The stranger here seemed friendly enough. On to business, then. “I was wondering… would you happen to know if Naniko D’Angelo has joined here recently?” The accented question was kept simple, straight to the point. Beating around the bush would only make the situation more awkward, and Ehno had had enough of that within the last few weeks to last him a lifetime. There was a chance, of course, that this man wouldn’t know Naniko at all, but the only way to find out was to ask.
