Hoookay! XD Yayyyy terror and blood. <3

The coyote woman did not appreciate self-examination; she did not enjoy peering into the mirror and seeing a one-eyed devil grinning back, full of condtradictions and long-held prejudices that could barely stay afloat an instant when pulled under by the current of a changing world. Maybe that had been necessary at one time, but the hybrid found the world a different place than the one she'd left, tiny and filled with politics, careful balances, tiptoing around others' to keep them from being angry and squashing Inferni. If she had her way, Inferni should have traveled to Dahlia de Mai as a whole and ripped Haku Soul out from his position beside the throne by his very roots. There was no reason he should still even be breathing. There was no reason they should have allowed the Phoenix Valley wolves their lives after trespassing; the coyote woman had been witness to two such fools herself, one who was granted the benefit of the doubt for a wild claim to heritage connected with the Lykoi family. The second hadn't been so lucky in her game to leave unscathed, but she'd still drawn a high enough card to escape with her life. But even now, the hybrid patiently waited for repercussions for her actions that rainy night, perhaps a Valley wolf at their door, howling for Gabriel—they liked that sort of sly, political bullshit, generally. The coyote woman did not like to resort to it, but when others adjusted their game, what else was there to do?

At the other canine's words, the hybrid was first surprised, and then irked. "Did I ever have control of Inferni?" the hybrid demanded, pushing for a response to a question she did not really wish to ask. What had she done for them? "What was I as our Aquila?" The coyote rephrased her question, stepping forward slowly as the canine began to retreat from her, her golden eye shining with anger and self-hate at this new accusation. It was truth; she was a failure, for her departure and abandonment of the clan and her family certainly outweighed whatever achievements she might have earned while pulling weight within Inferni. "Even then, would you say I failed in ridding us of wolf threat at our southern border? I took back what was ours and we made them pay." the coyote said. That was her one and only success, and it hardly mattered in the events that transpired afterwards, for as soon as they had eradicated one enemy and banished them to the Moaning Woods, more had come to their door, crossing their borders boldly and begging for the clan's retribution. She had not put a stop to anything, and in the end, she had changed nothing. "What more do you demand of me, Hybrid?" the coyote asked.

Thanks to Akumu for the table!

Hybrid flattened his ears, ignoring her protests. She was nothing like what she had once been. Her only true accomplishment was founding Inferni. Her greatest failure was abandoning it. She had created something great, but Inferni was not like the wolf packs. It needed a strong leader with a fist of iron. Inferni survived because they were not single, individual, living, breathing creatures. They were all part of a greater whole that made the clan move. Removing one would destroy everything.

But she was not done. She continued to speak, and Hybrid sighed loudly. He averted his gaze and narrowed his eyes slightly, regarding her for a moment. She was kidding herself. Here, she might have been thinking she had nothing to prove. But she did, especially to Hybrid. He had never known her before; she was always somewhere else, doing something else. Hybrid did not know her, and her claims to fame were only legends, now. Perhaps not even that; they had been lost with the crossing of the mountains.

Hybrid paused for a moment, wondering if he should answer her question. He regarded her intently, searching her face for an answer. He did not need to, for he already knew the answer, but he humoured himself anyways.

"Blood," he replied simply; however, his answer was anything but simple. "When was the last time you killed a wolf? Proved your loyalty? I demand blood." His voice, like always, was gritty and worn, as if he'd had his throat ripped out one too many times. He wanted nothing more from her than to see her kill. Or, perhaps, to see them kill. He knew she had been long-famed for her strength and power in battle, but where was it now? Hybrid did not want to think of the founder of Inferni as a rotting corpse who still barely had the will to live. She was nothing if she could not use her teeth and claws.

OM NOM NOM. -chews poor NPC-

The silvery hybrid could recall quite clearly the last time she'd killed a wolf, and to have mentioned that again would have brought swelling pride to every inch of the hybrid woman. Vanquishing Salvaged Eternity was pretty high on her list of accomplishments, but in reality, what threat was he? A lone wolf, fallen from the heights of wolf hierarchy—hardly any concern of Inferni's. Her battle with him and her vendetta against him had been entirely personal. He was right. Kaena had not killed in the name of Inferni in too long, and though they were both present at the lone wolf's execution, neither had struck the final crushing blow to the creature. That honor had gone to Halo.

There was not so much as a hint of hesitation in the coyote woman; she looked the Hydra confidently and nodded her head, agreeing with his proposal. She would not have expected anything else. "Of course," the hybrid said, excitement creeping steadily into her voice and her features. "Maybe we ought to go and raid a neighbor's borders for a victim," she said, half-joking. If Hybrid were to suggest they head to Dahlia de Mai and yank Haku out of there by his ruff, she would have agreed wholeheartedly, and there wouldn't be much else left but to go and do it, then.

The coyote woman was all for violence, but she was the second-in-command of the clan, and her actions were certainly representative of the clan as a whole. They couldn't hope to take out one of their neighbors unless they wanted to start an all-out war, and she knew Hybrid was aware of that fact—or at least, she direly hoped he was. "Where shall we find someone who won't be missed?" the coyote questioned, figuring perhaps the territory north of Inferni was best. There weren't any packs up there, and anyone wandering in that area was likely to be homeless, and therefore not missed very much.

Hybrid was glad she agreed to this; otherwise, hunting down a wolf with her would be quite difficult. He had no intention of doing this alone. This was for Kaena to prove to him. He had nothing to prove to her. He had spoken with her, and perhaps he had some regrets, but he had nothing to prove. She, the one who had returned after leaving Inferni for her whore of a daughter, had returned with nothing. Kaena had nothing to show for her time away, and she was only getting older. Hybrid would not accept such a pathetic excuse.

He sneered at her reply, wondering if he was oscillating between two extremes too much. One minute he had been submitting, the next, not caring what the fuck she did. On one hand, she was Gabriel's mother; on the other, she was an abandoner and a fake. He didn't know.

"No, " he replied harshly. "Our wars with the other packs are over. We will find an insignificant wolf -- though most are -- and they shall be are prey." He regarded the Centurion with a frown and a sneer, moving past her. "Let's go."

It was still raining.

Yeees. Big Grin

Violence was a given for the silver-furred hybrid. It had been gift-wrapped and handed to her as a child by her mother; from that moment on there was something very wrong and very rotten within Kaena. Delphine had ascertained that when she had marked her daughter and denied her sustenance; what else could Kaena turn toward, if not violence? It had avenged her father and saved her life on more than one occasion. Salvaged would have killed her first if he had the chance.

The hybrid offered a shrug. She wasn't about to start any shit with anyone else, but she figured it wouldn't have hurt anybody to get rid of Haku. In her heart, though, she knew it would've sparked another conflict between Inferni and Dahlia de Mai, and thus not worth the amount of trouble. "Though I wonder for how long," she said quietly, figuring eventually some wolf would do something stupid to invoke Inferni's wrath. Such was life, she supposed. The constant exchange of grudges between the different groups was unlikely to cease anytime soon, not unless everyone simultaneously and suddenly decided Razekiel's peaceful way of life was the answer to their problems.

Hybrid moved forward, and the coyote fell into step behind him for a while as they moved out of Inferni territory. Their pace was rather quick, and the hybrid woman wondered if they would go far from coyote territory. She didn't care much either way, but the further the better, just in case they picked the wrong wolf, someone with a connection to someone else here. She was content with Hybrid taking the lead position; she figured with two eyes he'd probably spot them better than her single eye. The rain drizzled along her back, soaking her fur, but it made for good cover.

They would go east. There were no packs there as far as Hybrid was aware, and if there were any wolves attempting to establish one, he and Kaena could take a bite out of their membership. Hybrid did not think they would be so lucky, but perhaps it was a good thing. He did not want to go starting a war with their neighbour. That would be foolish (and who would do such a thing?) He chortled quietly to himself at the thought. Who – aside from his mother – would do such a thing?

He shook his head and continued onward. They would find their sacrifice and display his death for all to see. They would find someone whose life would serve a greater purpose and whose greatest accomplishment was their death. They would place the head upon a pike and it would serve as yet another reminder. The blood and the symbolism would reek with the wrath of Inferni.

Hybrid heard Kaena murmur a contemplative question, to which Hybrid did not reply. If they were lucky, they would bring down the entire pack and one day, place Haku's head upon a spike. He would murder the black warrior female whom he had fought, as well as the woman who had attacked his mother. Asphyxia had deserved it for instigating the whole mess, but it did not mean Hybrid could not use something like blood ties to legitimize his kill. It would be nice to make the woman feel terror again. He was certain Asphyxia had been able to do that, useless as she was.

They looped around slowly, making their way north, skirting around the borders and moving into the rocky terrain of Halcyon Mountain. They continued deeper into the mountainous territory, which was far more lush and rich with vegetation than Inferni's territory. They were approaching a small drop in the rock face, which allowed them to overlook into a small clearing. Hybrid jerked his head toward the lone wolf meandering through the clearing. They had found their prey.

The silver-furred hybrid had hardly stopped to consider the morality of taking another life; it was a simple task to her, and if that was all Hybrid required as proof of her dominion over Inferni (beneath Gabriel, of course) and proof that she was not a withered husk of a woman, she was glad to oblige. The hunt sang strongly to the hybrid through the rain, the weather certainly working to their advantage. It would shield their scent and keep them hidden until the perfect moment, the instant when they would unleash themselves on the unfortunate soul they happened to conquer.

They walked, the hurried but sturdy pace of soldiers carrying on, tramping through the mud and rain with a purpose to their step. Slowly the lands melded into the greenery of the forest, and the hybrid woman recognized the place as the mountains. She did not find this curious—if they were to crush a life today, it would have to be some unknown, some outsider not yet returned to anyone here yet. That was crucial in the hybrid woman's mind. Without Gabriel's permission and just cause, they couldn't go around war-making with everyone else. Killing was not war-making. There was a difference. This was another example to be made in the silver-furred canine's mind, just another stone crushed beneath Inferni's might.

The coyote became aware of a change in the terrain, and she crept quietly up next to hybrid, peering through the ran down the slope of the overlook into the clearing to spot a lone wolf, zig-zagging through the clearing slowly as if he was tracking something. The hybrid found that odd, but she could see no other creatures in the small meadow, though she strained her vision. Hybrid had not said a word, but Kaena knew this was it, and her pace quickened, her golden eye flickering all over the meadow and her surroundings to find the best way to approach the canine. The coyote woman thought it was rather like a very, very small version of a valley, though the side opposing theirs was much lower. There was only one good way in and one good way out—and with two coyotes, this was easy pickings.

The coyote woman tossed her head to indicate Hybrid should slink around behind the canine to block his exit in case he found it more prudent to run from her. The silver-furred woman whispered, "Distract him," above the noise of the rain, figuring Hybrid would explode from some bushes and chase him right toward her. She grinned and crept into the underbrush, slinking quickly yet retaining her caution, descending down the easier slopes on either side of the outcropping where they had been standing, keeping herself hidden until Hybrid made his presence known. It was an ancient hunting pattern, or something like it—typically a hyperalert canine who used the same method to trap his prey with his fellows would not fall for such a trap, but this was where the rain and gloom worked to their clear advantage.

The two hybrids moved in easy tandem, familiar enough with one another to move silently, and speaking when only necessary. Although Hybrid would have liked to say that he knew Kaena well enough for them to silently hunt together with their eyes sewn shut, but he knew that would have been false. He did not know her at all, but somehow, he felt as though hunting with her would draw them closer. Not enough for him to care about her, but enough for him to understand her a bit better.

The rain continued, soaking both Infernians to the bone. Hybrid cast a glance over his shoulder to see Kaena moving closer. She followed him to the edge of the basin, examining their prey with a critical eye. Kaena spoke, and Hybrid nodded quickly, offering only a brusque, yes, before stalking off to block off the wolf's exit. He moved quickly and quietly, knowing that the sound of the rain would mask his footsteps, and that the rain itself would dampen his scent. Nonetheless, this was habitual, and Hybrid could not beat it out of himself even if he tried. This was perhaps the only good thing his smaller-than-average size was useful for. Hybrid grimaced, but continued moving, keeping his eyes trained on the wolf as he rounded the edge of the clearing.

Hybrid paused for a moment, and then began to slink quietly to where the wolf was standing. She noticed him just as he was about to stop to greet her. She froze, staring at him with a panicked expression. Hybrid smiled lightly, trying to ease her worry.

"Don't worry, dear girl. I'm not here to hurt you, I'm here to warn you," he stated, glancing over his shoulder. "Coyotes are coming, from behind. They're here to kill you. You've got to run," he stated, then gestured to where Kaena was hiding with a jerk of his head. "Go that way. I'll help you," he finished, offering what he hoped looked like a genuine smile. The female wolf nodded her head, then set off to where Kaena was hiding. She moved quickly, as if she somehow believed Hybrid. Hybrid followed her slowly, casting furtive glances over his shoulder, feigning worry.

Durfdurf, I forget it was supposed to be a girly. XD I are DUMBSIE, I say, DUMBSIE! And I figured it was okay to say Hybrid was moving up a bit, I dunno what he's gonna do here but I would assume he'd come over to drink blood or nom her, something wonderfully devilish. ;D If it's not okay you PM me please?! <3

The silver-furred woman had not hunted with Hybrid in this fashion before. It was more intimate than with the whole of Inferni surging together to converge on that lone wolf—they were out in the deep wild now, and they were dependent on each other. The wolf was bigger than Hybrid and younger than Kaena, but together, she was as good as hamburger meat dripping on a kitchen counter or a cow heading down the chute to slaughter. As the coyote split off after their brief words she stole glances at the wolf, pausing as she headed down her side of the incline to steal glances at the other canine. The silvery woman almost imagined she could see the other canine's organs, smell the blood coursing just beneath the skin of her body, taste that blood flowing over her tongue as she bit down on the other creature's throat, shaking her head back and forth violently to tear it from its proper place and release the flood of life's blood from the other canine's neck.

These thoughts goaded her and she began clearing her head, thinking of only spilling blood, that dark thing inside of her beginning to snarl and pace at the edges of his cage, eyes blazing. She did not know what to call him. Bloodthirstiness? Rage? Aggression? Nothing fit him perfectly and so he remained unnamed, a carefully contained, locked-up shadow that Kaena built up day after day, carefully encapsulating him to remain sane and balanced in her position and duty. It would not do to unleash him at the wrong moment, for he was blind and he did not care who he killed. Anyone might fall victim to him, and the coyote woman hardly wished that on anyone she cared about. The incline leveled out and the coyote found herself on virtually even ground witht he wolf.

As the hybrid crept to her chosen spot, half-crouching behind a dense pocket of underbrush, she lifted her ears and strained to hear anything that was going on, her single sharp eye directed outward toward the wolf, taking care to keep herself absolutely hidden before the proper time. It would do no good to be spied now and have Hybrid come around behind; it would ruin her element of surprise entirely. The coyote waited, holding a breath as she listened to the rain drumming against the ground, the endless patter of droplets splashing against the trees, the ground, everything. She fidgeted slightly, adjusting her position and waiting, watching. A sort of electricity began to surge through her, tingling down from between her ears to the tip of her muzzle, buzzing down her legs and tingling to the very tip of her tail, filling her body up and readying her for the perfect moment, the instant where she could strike like a venomous snake.

Adrenaline sang in her veins and made her heart beat faster, a steady and constant drumming in her chest that seemed to sweep over her head, emptying it of all useless thought and focusing her down to the very basics—instinct, reaction, aggression. Her fangs bared in a soundless snarl, leathery lips drawn back taut against yellowy fangs. Her tongue ran out over them, old things and almost dulled with age, but still deadly, still quite capable and useful for her purposes. Her claws were still razor sharp in her Optime form, anyway, and if she ever became a toothless old bat there was always that. Beyond that, there were knives, swords, clubs, any number of blunt or sharp objects to poke or beat an opponent with. Her snarl twisted into a grin at this, and she crouched down, ready to explode when triggered as she heard the distant sounds of voices through the rain. The silvery hybrid could not understand the words, but she did not need to—the unmistakable sound of an approach alerted her to the wolf's presence drawing near to her position.

Wait, wait, wait. The hybrid practically trembled with excitement, fire blazing in her single golden eye. The wolf was visible to Kaena now, crouched low and hidden behind the underbrush. As the wolf passed just by Kaena, the hybrid's scent filled the wolf's nose and vice versa, and there was a moment of confusion and surprise as the hybrid realized this was a female and the wolf recognized the scent of another canine present, fear showing in her eye. The ashen-furred hybrid exploded like a bullet from that spot, springing full-force on the wolf, using her chest as a battering ram to slam the other canine in the shoulder, connecting squarely and sending the other canine flying. Kaena was on her after that, her fangs drawing red tracks through the other canine's shoulder, slicing through the flesh and sending a spray of flesh across the scarred woman's visage. No longer was Kaena silent; her voice crackled like thunder, booming out over the sound of the rain, accompanied by the yowl of the other canine as fear and pain shot through her shoulder.

The coyote fell back for a moment, circling around to the front of the wolf, her yellowed fangs displayed prominently against her ash-and-cream colored face, the scars across it twisting the expression to terrifying proportions. Somewhere behind the wolf she was aware of Hybrid, moving now, closing in on the pair of canines. It seemed to catch the other canine's attention; perhaps she was still under the guise that Hybrid was here to assist her, failing to recognize the traits of mixed blood present in him. She shot a glance back behind her and in that second the coyote sprang, cracking her sharp fang against the side of the other canine's head, a blow that seemed to stun and daze her. She took a step backwards, shaking her head, her eyes glazing slightly. The coyote drew closer again, and in a desperate effort the wolf swung her head, her fang tearing through the flesh on the hybrid's cheek, and inch behind the ancient wound next to her eye. The hybrid recoiled, her russet muzzle twisting into a deeper, nastier snarl as she froze, her growl throwing a severe verbal threat to the other wolf for spilling Kae's blood.

The girl moved, and Hybrid followed her. Every so often, he would pause, as if assessing the danger of the coyotes approaching from beyond the hill. What a foolish girl. Everyone knew that to the north was only wasteland. There could be no coyotes coming from that direction. But for some reason, Hybrid had managed to convey the severity of the situation to her, and he had believed him. Hybrid grinned wickedly, continuing after her, letting his legs take him to where Kaena was hiding. Hybrid's grin widened as he saw the female wolf pause in confusion. It seemed as though the girl had finally noticed Kaena.

The war-torn Centurion threw herself at the wolf, effectively knocking the parasite off her feet, sending her tumbling to the ground. Kaena wasted little time ripping out the girl's shoulder. Hybrid could hear Kaena's mad laughter as he approached, causing him to chuckle quietly to himself. She sounded absolutely deranged. It was wonderful.

Hybrid sped up, moving quicker to reach the two women. Kaena attacked once more, connecting with the wolf's head this time, momentarily stunning her. Hybrid lept at the wolf only moments after she wounded Kaena, landing on her back and grabbing a hold of her neck with his claws. He snarled as he tore through the girl's already-wounded shoulder, biting down and ripping with his teeth and claws. He would take her arm for that. He would take her arm and her leg and her head as punishment for existing. He would inflict pain as punishment for inflicting pain on Kaena. He would hurt her for little to no reason at all. Their snarls mixed in with the girl's screams of pain. Hybrid pulled back, trying to rip the girl's limb out of her socket and hold her down at the same time so Kaena could deal her revenge.

A strange, distant feeling pulsed on Kaena's cheek. She was dimly aware that her own blood had been spilled, barely conscious of the fact that it was her own flesh split open. The slicing cut was little more than a flesh wound, hardly registering on the silver-furred coyote's mind. She was not in danger—she knew that quite well. With Hybrid taking up the rear, the only way they would find themselves in any danger was if this wolf had hidden friends around herself, and the ashen hybrid did not think that was a possibility. They would have seen them already; they would not take this long to come to a friend's aid. No, this wolf was alone, and for her isolation and her lack of affiliations in this land she had become their prey.

The coyote advanced, low to the ground and moving with the speed and fluidity of a big cat, deadly-dangerous and wicked-fast. There was a blur of motion behind the other canine, and the coyote yowled in violent exhultation as the smaller frame of the Hydra connected with the other canine's back. Distracted for a moment by the utter beauty of watching Hybrid Holocaust rip through the wolf's flesh, his teeth grinding down on her bones, the hybrid watched, utterly transfixed for a moment by the wonderful sight of her clanmate ripping and tearing the life from the other wolf. It was gorgeous, the loveliest sight Kaena had beheld in quite a long time—Hybrid was a machine, perfectly suited to this act of killing.

Her cries were louder, growing desperate as the life and strength began to fade from her body. The ash-furred canine's brief trance had been broken and she was off again, springing forward and drawing her head back just slightly as she did so go increase the force of her strike, her teeth seeking the warm, pale throat of the other wolf. Her yellowed fangs sank through a layer of fur, stiff and thick and protecting the wolf's precious throat. The hybrid was too close now, though, too frenzied, and the mane of fur around the she-wolf's neck might as well have been a paper suit of armor for all the good it did her.

Her teeth hit warm flesh and dug in, spires of hot metal digging into the other wolf's flesh and eliciting a near-scream from the canine, a bellow of desperation from a creature beginning to realize this was their final hour. Fresh blood sprayed outward from the wound and into the hybrid's mouth, the coppery taste splashing against her tongue and coating her mouth, filling her nose and driving her to absolute frenzy. She shook her head to and fro violently, wriggling and yanking as if she were attempting to tear a particularly tough piece of meat from her kill. A strangled sort of sound escaped the wolf's throat, air and blood gurgling through the hole Kaena had torn in her throat. Her bright yellow eyes were wild, though dimming fast, growing steadily darker as the Inferni coyotes ripped and tore at the delicate life resting within her body.

Kaena moved in quickly, spending little time to consider the severity of her wounds. Like any well-trained soldier of Inferni, she attacked for the glory of Inferni. Although she would have probably liked to think she was more valuable than any low-ranked Tirones, he knew she was just another soldier. They were all soldiers, and she just happened to have a little more experience. Of course, that also meant they could work in tandem, two soldiers attacking the same enemy. The equality on the battlefield made it easier to relate to her. The fact that they were both now covered in the blood of the wolf united them. This was their kill tonight, but it was for the glory and maintenance of Inferni.

The wolf was screaming out now, but it only lasted for a few more moments. In the time Hybrid had paused, the girl only had enough time to take a breath before Kaena was upon her. The Centurion bit into the girl's neck, allowing the girl to thrash about for a few more seconds before she died with a look of betrayal on her eyes. Hybrid grinned in reply, but knew he was too late. Kaena was too efficient; the wolf never stood a chance. Kaena jerked her head back and forth as Hybrid gave the wolf's shoulder one last tug, freeing her foreleg from its socket. Hybrid grinned spat out the appendage, pausing for a moment to admire their handiwork. To the glory of Inferni.

From the beating and pulsating life clutched between her jaws, the hybrid drank, swallowing mouthfuls of the other canine's blood as it poured over her muzzle, a lifetime's worth of fluid and memories spreading over the russet-splashed, scarred face. The wolf's blood intermingled with the coyote's blood, though naturally the former was far more in quantity than the latter, and dripped down to the ground. All of the carnage washed away in a second by the rain, crimson and burgundy swirling in the runoff as it swept the wolf's blood away from them. The life ebbed from the other canine slowly, and the silver-furred hybrid savored every moment of it, the cold, confused fog settling down over the other canine's head as the life escaped from her body.

Slowly the pounding stopped, and the hybrid realized she held onto a lifeless rag doll. She gagged softly and spat the other canine's dying flesh from her mouth, watching as the other canine's body crumpled in front of her, now missing a limb and with a jagged hole torn through her throat. Instinctively the hybrid threw back her head and sent up a coyote's yowl, beginning with a few high-pitched, sharp barks, leveling out to the high notes of her kind's howl, far lighter than a wolf's heavy, throaty call. Still, Kaena's voice was as much a hybrid as she was herself, and there were tones of a dog and wolf mixed into her yapping. Still, the symbolism was there—the hybrid claimed this life for Inferni, punctuating the statement with their call. The thunder of the hunt and the power of the kill still flowed through her, and when she lowered her head once more there was that same glint shining in her raptor's eye, fierce and proud of the thing they had done together. She looked at Hybrid, her tongue lolling out between her sharp canines, her lips pulling back to display a positively wicked grin toward the other canine, immensely pleased with their catch and kill.

A bit of powerplay assuming that Hybrid would dislocate the wolf's shoulder himself. Hope that is alright. :3

Hybrid remained silent and still as Kaena devoured the wolf. He had no desire to drink her blood and taste her flesh like Kaena did; or at least, not now. Instead, he remained vigilant, watching the Centurion's every move as she fiercely ended the wolf's life again and again. Hybrid knew there was beauty in Kaena's actions, and he did all he could to take it all in. As such, Hybrid neither flinched nor moved during the whole process, and it was not until Kaena looked at Hybrid that he finally did something.

"We need to take her back to Inferni. Instead of just taking her skull, lets take her forelegs, too," he stated, as if he was leaving no room for argument. For this, he would have to shift into his little-used Optime form to carry the wolf's appendages back to Inferni. They could leave the body to rot. Before that, however, he would need to dislocate her three remaining legs. His Secui form offered him more power in his bite, so he would remain in that form until the time came to transport portions of her desecrated body.

He moved to the wolf's remaining foreleg, holding her body down with his paws and biting down into the flesh. He chewed slowly and methodically, tugging and ripping to dislocate her shoulder. He dug deeper into her flesh, biting through the muscles and tendons that held her body together. Once he finished, he was covered in blood. He was satisfied. He gave the foreleg one last yank, freeing it from her body. He placed the appendage before Kaena, smirking. They were finished.

Wurd count: 541. and i was totally gonna sleep right before this post but I realized I was 90 words away from 5,000+ for day one SO I HAD TO POST ONCE MORE. please excuse if this post is incomprehensible or terrible, i am delirious. THIS IS WHAT YOU DO TO ME SOULS. ;____; /wail.

In Character

There was a lovely kind of comraderie in this sharing of bloodshed, and a connection to Hybrid that Kaena had allowed to wither over the years had begun to reform itself once more. She remembered this feeling—this shared bloodlust was what had given her trust toward Hybrid in the first place, or at the very least, her admiration. He'd been quick to throw his weight in with her against Aremys, standing out from the paltry and weakling remnants of a kinder, push-over sort of Inferni ran by Kidorah and Segodi. The hybrid woman had tolerated the Aremys wolves at first, conceding that her predecessor had given them a chunk of sand and little else, finding it positively unnecessary to face an entire pack of wolves without damn good reason or a large difference in numbers in the favor of the coyotes. There was no reason to get half of her own clan killed for her own grudges. When Hollow had proposed they chase the wolves out, however, it was an offer the silver-furred Centurion—then-Aquila—could not refuse. With Hollow they had been unstoppable.

Both of them were sprayed with the dead wolf's blood, covered in it. Some parts dripped with the reddish fluid from the canine, and others were simply dusted with a fine crimson, coated by the misty spray of the female's dying arteries. Another wolf might have hesitated at taking the life of a woman, but Kaena's morality made no distinction between women and me. She was, after all, a woman, and she was perfectly capable of handling herself. There was no reason to then discriminate against other women and deny them the fitting deaths they so deserved. They were nothing, little more than decor with which to plaster their borders in the hopes that more like them would learn to keep the hell out. They never did, though.

"Yeah. Leave the rest. Don't need it stinking up our turf," she silver-furred canine agreed, her nose wrinkling at the thought of it. Kaena was certain a rotting wolf would smell far worse than anything else mid-rot. The Hydra took the wolf's leg in his teeth, ripping at tearing the dead flesh. In another lifetime Kaena might have eaten the flesh of the wolf, but she had passed cannibalism by, and she no longer wished to taint her digestive system with the meat of a wolf unless that was the only thing standing between her and starvation. He seemed to be finished. Both were oddly calm for just having taken another canine's life without reason and without care for who she was to others—certainly, she might have been someone's mother—but then again, why would they? Both Hybrid and Kaena had much in common, though both might deny it for different reasons. Death did not bother either of them, certainly not the death of some nothing wolf this far from their own territory. The rain would wash away evidence of their crime; even if this was someone's mother or someone's daughter or sister, by morning there would be no trace of Kaena or Hybrid's scent. There would be no blood—just the corpse of a nobody wolf, already beginning to rot.

The silence that descended was all-consuming, and for this, Hybrid was grateful. There was a lull in all action, movement, and sound; for a brief moment, it was quiet. Quickly, Kaena replaced the silence with words, and the momentary solitude was disrupted. Of course, it was not all for nought; Hybrid understood the necessity of her words, but still, could not determine if he agreed with them. The grey toned hybrid's golden eye sought him out, framed by blood splatters and gore. Hybrid smirked quietly, pondering the Centurion's words for a moment.

"A wolf will stink no matter what," he concluded. "Let's go," he added. Be it their skull, legs, inner organs, or tail, it would always carry a rotten, foul stench. Hybrid understood that, and for a moment, he wondered why Kaena made the distinction between the different parts of the wolf. Certainly, some were more prone to rotting, but he still did not think it made much of a difference. No matter what, in life, in death, in life beyond death; it was a wolf and its identity could never be changed.

He gripped the wolf's forelegs between his teeth, grasping them at the narrowest point, near the paw. He began to trot away, in the direction of Inferni, with the intention of displaying them on sticks beside the wolf's skull. Perhaps they could leave this skull with its fur in tact and paint right over it. They could decorate it with symbols of Inferni, war, and bloodshed as a message to all who dared come near.

Yes'm! Plz PP if you want this changed? :O <333 548.

There was that lazy confidence of the predator rolling over Kaena now; the knowledge that she had emerged victorious, despite hundreds of years of breeding and slaughter, she and Hybrid had killed their larger cousin, tearing her limb from limb as wolves so loved to do to coyotes. The silver-furred woman licked her lips, still twinged with the faint coppery taste of blood. The rain was beginning to sweep all evidence of this kill beneath the ever-churning earth. The wolf's body would begin to decompose by tomorrow, and perhaps some other woodland creature would stumble upon its corpse and devour its body, finding sustenance from the ruined meat of the corpse. The silver-furred woman turned away from the body without second thought, flicking an ear at Hybrid's comment. It was the truth; no matter what their larger cousins certainly had a distinctive, distasteful odor about them. Whether that was years of predation and competition between the two canids or simply a byproduct of being wolf, the silver-furred hybrid did not know.

The shift came to her slowly, for she was already tired from running up here, exerting herself in battle—well, not really battle. It was more like exerting herself in slaughter; there was no fight in the pale-furred female. The closest she'd come was the thin slice on the silvery Centurion's face, this tiny flesh wound which certainly held little chance of scarring. It didn't even hurt anymore. The coyote woman took pride in this kill despite how easily it had come to them. When she'd regained her optime form, the silver-furred woman picked up the wolf's head, studying the thin connection left, the wide-open hole in the canine's throat. Sticking her clawed foot on the blooded mess of the other canine's chest, she leaned down to slice the rest of the canine's throat away with her sharp claws. It took her a few moments, but when there were only the severed remnants of muscle tissue and the thin, bony white of her very spinal cord showing through the fleshy tattered, the hybrid leaned back and gave a twist, and with a sickening crack the wolf's head separated from her body.

Turning back to the other canine, the hybrid gave another grin, still almost high with the adrenaline and action of the kill. Who needed drugs when you had this? As the pair of of canines trotted back toward Inferni, the hybrid clutched her prize tightly, the wet and furry lump of the wolf's head tucked beneath her elbow, still leaking blood at first. It didn't take Kaena and Hybrid terribly long before they reached the edge of the coyote territory and found a few suitable sticks. The pair selected rather solid, sturdy pieces of wood, seeking pieces that would adequately hold up the pieces of the dead wolf. When they were finished, a severed wolf's head and a pair of wolf's legs dangled from the sticks on the edge of the coyote's border, gruesome reminders for outsiders to stay the hell out. In the coming weeks the head and legs would rot slowly, picked at by birds and predators and robbed of its eyes first, slowly the rest of its skin and flesh until there was nothing left but a skull and a pair of bones.

Every movement came naturally to them. After Kaena had decapitated the wolf, slowly taking her time to rip and saw through the remaining pieces of flesh that had not yet been torn off in the frenzy, the two Infernians set off for their home. It took Hybrid a few moments to realize he had sustained only a few injuries — a few mild cuts and a few sore muscles from the wolf's crazed thrashing. He glanced over to Kaena, noticing she too bore a small nick on her cheek. He smirked knowingly to himself, amused that the wolf had not been able to inflict much damage on them. Until the last moment, she had — for some reason or another — believed Hybrid was out to help her. Kaena had proved her quite wrong.

From taking a life to engineering a sculpture, the two of them were able to create a new masterpiece to decorate the borders of Inferni. They sharpened some sticks on both ends and placed their prizes on them, forcing the points of the sticks through the remaining flesh of the wolf. Hybrid surveyed their work, examining it approvingly. No one could doubt that they had a certain flair for this sort of thing. Kaena had displayed the forelegs most admirably, which made Hybrid proud to have been a part of the hunt that felled the wolf. He felt at peace.
