set in blackmoor castle

A giant beast loomed in the distance, but instead of running from it and its unfamiliarity, footsteps progressed in its direction, their sound quieted by the damp ground which had been assaulted by rain for the past few days. The footsteps belonged to a young coyote, not wishing to defeat the beast of a castle but to befriend it. Norchester, though young and still fresh to the world, was enchanted by old human structures and relished at the opportunity to bathe in their rich history. The Blackmoor Castle provided a wondrous opportunity to do just that and she had every intention to explore its ancient walls.

Her progress was made quickly, taking advantage of the short interval of clear skies that she had been blessed with. Looking up, she noticed dark clouds beginning to form and sped up her progress, not wanting to get showered upon once more. The castle's steps were beginning to crumble, chips of stone missing here and there, washed away by either feet or weather, though more likely a combination of the two. Norchester climbed the steps slowly, falling into another world as her worn feet touched the cold stone, imagining herself to be a princess returning home for the first time in many months.

The darkness inside the castle was blinding. Spider webs stuck to her face as she walked through the decrepit doorway, her hands quickly ripping the intricate work away from her eyes. Tapestries littered the walls, amazing artwork that Norchester could not help but stop to marvel at, thinking she might take one on her way out to decorate her new home. Smiling at the thought, Norchie stumbled through the overwhelming darkness and found a set of stairs. Up she climbed, unafraid of what dangers might lurk in the castle. Up, up, up she climbed, reaching the top quickly and following the traces of sunlight to an open window overlooking the castle's yard.

In typical princess fashion, Norchester found herself leaning partially out of the window, elbows on the sell and her hands cupped her face. The dark clouds reminded her of one of her favorite songs, and without second thought she began to sing bits of Both Sides Now.

"Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way

I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all"

Maldrid had now found a reason for his wanderings that took him outside his pack territory. He found that when he traveled it gave him inspiration to write his music. The beautiful landscape and the thoughts of his journeys would give him such wonderful ideas. The thought of finding a great song would inspire him to leave his pack territory for a short while to perhaps find a truly wonderful song. When he did he would commit the song to memory and then perhaps write it down in Haven Manor back in the Crimson Dreams territory.

When he traveled he went in his lupus form due to the convenience it offered for speed when traveling. He made sure that he wasn't without his instruments wherever he went because he had too much of a love for music to leave behind his instruments. Plus they had sentimental value. They were the sole things that kept him wanting to live through his ordeal when he was a wanderer.

Maldrid was running now through the landscape. He loved how invigorating it felt to run, fast and long. The exhilerating feel that it gave. He ran long and hard and finally he decided he needed rest. As he walked he found a large castle structure that stood out in the landscape. Out of pure curiosity he went towards it to explore the ruins that the humans had left behind. Maldrid was not only a creature of music, but also of learning.

He approached the castle and shifted into his optime form. Maldrid marveled at the structure that stood before him. Though he understood that humans could build great things he just couldn't bring himself to contemplate how they could accomplish the enormous task of creating such a work. He reached the wall and placed his hand on it and looked up the wall. The cool stone made his fingers complain to him. He took his hand off the wall and went to find an opening to get inside.

After some time of searching he found his way inside. He then explored around the area to get an idea of its layout. He thought the darkness inconvenient but not something that couldn't be overcome. He wound his way through the ruins and not long after his exploring he heard singing. This made Maldrid even more curious, there had to be a source to this singing. It was definitely female and it was a beautiful sound to hear. He walked towards the sound and before he could get to its source he was compelled to bring out his lute and start to play as song to the tune of the singing.

Maldrid's fingers worked along the instrument to produce a tune that went along with the song. He played without care if the singer heard it or not. For now it was for him alone. If the singer wished she could come, but that didn't matter. All that there was to Maldrid was his current song. He continued to play and let the sound reverberate throughout where he sat.
