Forward dated to October 31. For Slay.

Cercelee had been out all the night before, keeping vigil as the darkness slowly burned into morning. The sun had not fully risen as she turned back towards the church, fully shifted, her strides long and sure. Pushing open the door she moving like a wraith to the bed room, the door, as par usual, open and inviting for the pair of wolves had already accustomed their selves to living alone once again. As empty as their home was without the de Sadira pups, there were perks to such a life. In the past month she had made sure to take advantage of them, enjoying her time with Slay more fully than they ever had the first few months of their mateship. It was with a new purpose that they spent their time so, and the irony of it all was that if they were successful, as they so far had not been, they no longer could enjoy such moments as freely as they did now.

Halloween morning. Cercelee loomed over the sleeping male, her navy eyes watching his face, his chest rise and fall and rise again. A year ago they had celebrated the night with the rest of the pack, never imagining the year before them would turn out as it had. Children had been born, they had buried their first pack mate, others had vanished as was the course of life. And Slay and Cer had come together, had children thrust upon them, and then had to let go of them as quickly as they had come. A year, Cercelee mused, was a relatively short time in the course of all time, but life did not care. Life did not keep with time, life moved at it’s own pace, uncaring of how much time one had to spend trying to keep up.

Gently, without waking the sleeping male she slipped into bed, snuggling up to his warmth. Laying one had over his chest, she continued her watch, the sleeping male. The Rosea did not move to wake him, waiting patiently for the slumbering male to, on his own accord, come to the conclusion it was time to awaken.

ooc: Ooh, it's business time! :>
I've got soul but I'm not a soldier

The days were growing shorter, the cooling autumn temperatures flirting with frost as the trees raced to shed their leaves. Slay had finally found some measure of inner peace; things with Cercelee were better than ever, now that he had finally given her his full attention. They really felt like equals. It had helped to assume his werewolf form, since not only did it put them on level footing, but the more energy-efficient Luperci body helped him to sleep like a normal wolf. He had not collapsed into slumber once since his first shift. It was a confidence booster to say the least, although he would always be self-conscious in front of others...

But such thoughts were far from his mind at the moment. The feral werewolf licked his lips, rumbling a content sigh as he stirred in his sleep. It was a lazy morning for him. His mate's schedule did not always coincide with his own, but she was usually the one to wake him up after the sun rose, especially if he went hunting at night. Today he had gotten a reprieve. Comfortable warmth pressed against his side, and he returned the snuggle automatically, nestling against his mate's slender frame.

After a moment of drowsy consideration, Slay yawned and mumbled, voice still thick with sleep, "Cer, 'sit mornin' already...?" His heavy arm draped across her, limp as he nodded off again. Everything was in its place, all was right with the world. When he was younger, he had never once imagined that he could find this sort of tranquility for himself, or that it existed at all. Now, moments like this were what kept him going. A small needle of anxiety forced his eyes to flutter open again, as he realized that their quiet happy lives could not go on forever this way - not if they were to become parents... He wanted it, he really did, but it was impossible not to worry that it would cause a rift between them, the happy couple. The arctic wolf huffed, hugging his mate closer to his chest. They could just stay here all morning.

The actions were all so familiar, for despite their mateship not being even a year old they had already fallen into certain patterns, as lovers do. His arm across her body was familiar, the way, half asleep, her hugged her closer was familiar, the whole morning was familiar as if they had acted it out exactly the same way the day before. And if Cercelee took the time to think back to the day before, she might have been able to verify that they had. Or maybe it was another day the week before. At any rate, they had lived this morning before, more than once and yet it was not stale. Despite knowing that it had all happened before, and would happen again, Cer smiled at every sleepy movement and murmur her mate made, although she could perhaps guess them. Perhaps it was not exciting, but there was something secure and comfortable in reliving a pleasant moment more than once.

Pressing into him, she nuzzled her nose into the thick fur. Her words were muffled, but audible. Yes, it’s morning already. That means time to wake up. Teasingly she pulled back and shook him, and when she received mild resistance from that tactic she moved onto nipping at his ears. You can’t spend all day in bed. Another nip, this time at his cheeks. Well, you could, but if anyone asks, I did wake you. Cercelee smiled, staring down at the male’s face, waiting for him to fully open his eyes, fully take in the morning, fully comprehend her suggestive smile.

Her sharp teeth found his ears, nipping with mischievous intent. Slay grumbled, halfheartedly swatting her away until she moved on to the downy fur of his cheeks. "Morning does not have to mean time to wake up, m'dovely," he drawled lazily, nudging her with his wet nose in an attempt to deter her harrying. "For owls and bats and skunks, morning means time to sleep." He punctuated this rebuttal with a deep yawn, pink tongue curling delicately betwixt his jaws. He wasn't all that tired, to be perfectly honest with himself - it was just part of the game.

The big male settled his furry hands in the crook of her slender back, letting his ice-pale eyes sneak a peek of her devilish smile. She was just so... perfect. He had never expected them to fit so well together, for things to become so natural as a couple. He was the weak link, but she had held them together - and perhaps they were just too stubborn to give each other up, despite the flaws he couldn't quite iron out. He huffed a sigh, remarking, "Your fur is cold. Were you out all night again?"
His tongue snaked out again, licking her little black nose. He wasn't angry; it just concerned him at times that she devoted so much energy to the pack. Surely she needed sleep as well. How would she balance her duties if they succeeded in their family-making endeavors? He would hunt, of course, as he had been doing, but even all-powerful Cercelee could hardly waddle her way to answer calls at the borders when she was heavy with child.

"You should take today off," he propositioned, lopsided grin dancing slowly across his black lips. "Let other wolves do the work for a change. Stay with me. Spend the day in bed." His fingers strayed upward to touch her face, tracing her cheekbone delicately before tickling under her chin. It would be fun to spend a whole day together, a luxury... Think of all the things they could get up to.

Cercelee just smiled, he knew she was out all night and that really after waking up Slay they would indeed just spend the day together in bed. Days when they had such a luxury were rare and precious, for even though there were tasks she shouldered off to Cwmfen or Haku, she did spend more of her time tending to the many tasks of the pack. Slay sometimes got put on the back burner by accident, and yet whenever she came back to him, there he was, waiting for her. It was perhaps not fair, but he didn’t not grumble too much. And it made times like these all the more important.

And what are we going to do in bed all day? She smiled, her eyes shining with the knowledge of exactly what they could do in bed all day. They did have a purpose, yet that hadn’t sucked the fun out of such activities, it did not make it a job. For if they weren’t successful, they could always try, try again. It was a pleasurable task, conceiving children, so Cercelee did not mind that it hadn’t happened for them just yet. It would, if they worked enough at it. I don’t know if I can allow your lazy habits to interfere with me work… Her tone was teasing and light, for she pressed herself closer to the male having already long since consented to stay in bed despite what she said.
