set in shattered coast. changed my mind about post-dating it so it'll just be set 11/5 if that's fine XD. 341 words.

Tokyo had left pack territory for the first time in a while. She was still sore, but she had deliberately decided not to think at all about her recent encounter with Haku. It probably had something to do with why she felt motivated to get away for the moment. Last time she had left she had ran into coyote territory, so this time she pushed south a little into Shattered Coast. She was very careful to travel directly south; she didn't want any incidental wandering too close to Crimson Dreams. That would suck so majorly, she really had no patience to deal with Savina today. Or with any of the repercussions that might occur if word got back to a leader, maybe Haku, that she violated her prohibition.. A shudder ran over here.

She didn't even feel.. as snarky as usual, as righteous as usual. It was a strange sort of mood, and she didn't like it. The things that came so easily just felt like a lot of work. She didn't really know what personality to settle on. She drew masks over herself so frequently, slipped into character with less than a twitch of a muscle, that it was so.. so hard to be alone, as much as she had been lately. When she was alone she had no point for her counterpoint; no personality to please or suck-up to or adapt to. How could Princess have done this to her? At least when her daughter was around, she had the role of mother to play. She had Responsibility and Duty. But her days just felt empty. It was strange, lazing around all day used to be enough to make her quite happy. What had changed about her to crave something more, some sort of.. thing to do? It was crazy. Idleness was the ultimate goal, wasn't it? Ugh. Was it pack-life that had changed her, that had instilled in her this restlessness? Whatever the hell it was, she was incredibly sure that she did not like it, not one bit.

well hello there...

The day had begun as an attempt at border patrol, but Mati was not one for the securing of borders. It was everyone’s job, the notion instilled in her mind by her Lt. General and ex-Commander mothers, but Mati was a slightly freer spirit. The Earthen toned female had tried, at least, and cut through the pack lands to the outline in the early morning. But by mid day she was beyond the territory and exploring the beach. It was a frightfully beautiful day, the chill of winter whisking off the ocean’s surface and there was a blue faze over the dieing lands. Purple eyes watched the landscape, taking it in with the hope of making it a painting when she returned home.

Her thoughts were justly suited for distraction, the tension in her heart weighing heavily enough that it might just break if she thought too much on it. It was confusion, thats what the yearling had decided. She simply didn’t know. There was not even a cross roads, no true choice. She felt lost in a vast dark atmosphere with no clear direction. Paws skipped over the sands, her large form moving with grace and ease. It had not been that long ago when she had fought the growth of paws and legs and wished she was small and meek. Instead she had become the large boned and bodied wolfess that nature had intended. With violet eyes the Church fae wandered, watching for the scene that would make her painting. It wasn’t until the beach framed the figure of a wolf, the indistinguishable hue of the slowly moving beast, that Mati figured it was this that she was destined to paint.

Slowly she moved closer, curious to know who it was that would be the focal point of her next piece.

Big Grin. 334 words

The chocolate form that appeared startled Tokyo at first. Haku, again? But her nose caught up to her fears. This was a female. The shade was slightly different, anyway. Oh, gross, she was a.. Crimson Dream pack member, too. Ugh. Well, it wasn't like anyone besides Savina really had a reason to know her. Even if her name had been spread amongst the ranks (which was sort of flattering, because even infamy had it's own allure), there was no reason for this stranger to match name to face, to scent. And there wasn't really any tension between Dahlia and CD overall, as far as Tokyo knew... Ehhh, fuck it. No reason to keep her identify hidden. It would be interesting indeed to find out if her name was known through CD. And it wasn't like she would end up in trouble because of it or anything. Tokyo was safely in neutral territory, not breaking the edict that Cwmfen had passed down to her.

As the stranger approached, the Dahlian realized just how big she was, especially in comparison to Tokyo's delicate stature. Hmph. Well, it only served to show how extra pretty the older female was. "Hello there, Dreamer." Tokyo called out pleasantly. For all her worrying about identities and personas, the presence of another triggered such deeply ingrained reflexes. She was cheerful, friendly, and as charming as could be. Her smile contained nothing real, but for all that it came trivially close to the genuine artifiact. Only a very careful observer would even notice anything was off. "I'm Tokyo Chance, and you..?" There. Her name had been spoken. Ice blue eyes carefully watched the brown face before her. She was nowhere near as talented at reading expressions as she was at writing them, but if the other female didn't particularly try to hide her reaction Tokyo should be able to identify it. She didn't really know what she was hoping for, or even expecting. Disgust, maybe? Recognition, at least, would be pretty cool.

Mati did not know many from the Dahlia pack. Whispers, little things here and there came to her with the flowery name among titles and descriptions. She had never focused on it. Conor was the only was that she had met under the Dahlian banner, and she liked him very much. He was sweet, innocent. This one sent her the smell of that pack, so she would paint a flower, among the pebbles of the beach and in the ice sky of fall.

The figure's features came into view, slim and slight with the tones of a common timber wolf. Though she was not common at the least. The brush of grays over the soft almost comforting tans of her underbelly, and the ice blue of the eyes that watched her with an interest. Mati was common beside a beast with such a melody of colors. Her pelt always seemed to wane in comparison to a woman with such a confidence in her stance and speech.

“Dahlian.” Mati spoke with a tone that was just as pleasant and a similar transparent veil. A smile formed, like she was meeting a friend. A friend that she didn’t even know yet, but Mati didn’t mind that at all. It felt oddly political, and she tried to keep a warm demeanor. “Mati Church.” She answered. Neither seemed to be there for more then a pleasant moment of reflection. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She continued with the polite speech. “And on such a pleasant day.” Eyes looked out to the ocean, as if to reflect once more on the beauty of their surroundings.

A moment passed, and she looked at the woman. Had she heard right? This woman was a Chance as well. With out knowing why Mati became uneasy, though the feeling went as quickly as it came. "Then you know Ares?" She questioned, still with a smile. "Chance." She repeated the sir name in case she looked at Mati with an unknowing glance.

313 words, and whoops, that was a pretty speedy reply on my part XD

Well now, that was unexpected! The addition of a surname only added to Tokyo's confusion. Had it just been the name "Ares" tossed her way, it would have been easy to brush off with a tinkling laugh and a regretful shake of her head. But.. A Chance. It could just be a coincidence, but the nagging paranoia that obsessively surrounded the existence of Buttface reared its ugly head and demanded that she investigate further.

The rest of the pleasantries of the conversation were accepted and agreed to with a demure nod of the head. She wasn't going to drop character, but she was most definitely going to focus on this particular kernel of the encounter. Curious bemusement wrote itself across her face. "I.. have a son." Carefully spoken; a revelation that few Dahlians knew. "I haven't talked to him in a while, so I don't know what he goes by these days. We had a bit of a spat, drove us apart." One of those sad, regretful looks. Shame written in the edges of her eyes, as if her actions hadn't been worth the painful separation, as if she actually ever gave a damn about being close to her hated, disgusting son.

"Is he sort of mottled gray, black? Golden eyes?" Hope tinged her voice. The query of a displaced mother with, perhaps, a chance to have a chance to reconnect with an errant son. Tokyo laid it on thick. Maybe she overdid it a little, but.. She was applying every inch of her art. If Buttface.. Ares? Ha, that was such a stupid name.. But if he was here? Goosebumps tingled her spine. Is that why Princess left? No, no, no.. She was kicked out. Cercelee confirmed that. Stupid Princess, letting herself get caught stealing, from the alpha no less! But.. was he who she ran to? Tokyo felt sick to her stomach.

I is not speedy atm... ><

A female could easily trick the young woman. It were males that she did not trust outright. But the games that a woman could play were just as dangerous. Keen and cleaver the Dahlian did not show Mati an inch of what lingered beyond her façade. The eagerness to know and the dire need for information about the crush Mati had been holding for months and months was not apparent to the Dreamer. If she had known she would have protected him as best she could, but the instant to defend him did not arise in the presence of the fey.

There was a hope that seemed to spring from Tokyo, and Mati was beginning to feel the need to help her. To reunite the two family members, to find his mother, maybe it was gift she could give the male. They had only had a small fight, something that did not mean they should never speak again. Perhaps that could set aside their differences, be a family.

Handsome Mati wanted to add to the woman’s description. Instead she only nodded and spoke a simple,
“Yes.” The tall wolf watched for a reaction. Waiting for the overjoyed expression, Mati began to smile softly. How long had she been looking? How far had she traveled in search? Mati could only imagine.

ahmg.. i'm actually posting >_>. 316 words

For all the ice-water Tokyo could have sworn was running through her veins, her smile was warm. Relief at knowing where her daughter had likely gone was funneled into her expression; joy was created from nothing and plastered on as well. There was still more to find out. She couldn't drop the game yet. Hell, she should probably keep it up until the very end of this encounter. It would probably terrify the poor boy if the girl mentioned how happy his mother seemed to hear about where he'd been living. "Oh, that's fantastic! I didn't even know he was in the area. I must drop by sometime to visit." Her tail wagged happily. "Definitely let him know I'll be coming to see him." Oh god, that would certainly fuck with his mind. Her happiness became a bit more genuine, a bit less fabricated. How she wished she could see his face when Mati recounted this meeting.

"Do you know if my daughter's there, too? Princess used to live with me as a Dahlian but was kicked out for stealing from our leader. I still love her though, despite her mistakes, but I haven't heard from her since." Tokyo shook her head, as if she couldn't believe the actions her own flesh and blood had committed. She really really hoped that Princess wasn't a Dreamer, but every bit of her expected the answer to be affirmative. It hurt in a way Tokyo hadn't expected. She had told Princess that Crimson Dreams was a terrible place. That she was banned from there, that the people who lived there were gross and mean.. and Princess had gone off and joined them? It must be Buttface's influence. She should have killed him, she shouldn't have let the guilt of the other murders stop her the next morning. She should have stopped his poison before it infected her daughter so deeply.

so sorry for not seeing this!! D:
SSWM - 307

And there is came, the smile and the excited words. Mati couldn’t believe it! She had been able to rejoin the mother with child, and she couldn’t wait till she could tell Ares that his mother had been looking for him. In the excitement of it all she could hardly remember what he had said about his mother. Mati as sure that they had been estranged in a way, and since Tokyo was so excited at the thought of seeing him she felt as if they hadn’t been on poor terms. Foolishly Mati began to smile and nodded her head speaking and reassuring the mother that she would certainly tell Ares that she would be visiting.
“Oh, I will.” The feelings that she had for the gray and black male were at times jumbled and confusing but Mati wished to enjoy the reaction she would get when she told him that she had found his mother, and that she was about to visit any day.

The news of Princess was surprising, but then as Mati looked past the pretty dressed picture she held in her mind, she didn’t think it that far fetched. In many ways Mati felt as if the girl was stealing her brother from her, and he was already so far away. Was she capable of stealing other things? Mati did remember Ares concerned with others stealing his things, maybe it was his sister that had made him worry that things would be taken from him. Though the Church woman was not overly excited at the idea that Princess was so close to her and among the Dreamer ranks she forced her smile was stay in place and nodded,
"She’s there too.” Contemplating the mother’s confession once more the young woman merely stated in a thoughtful manner,
“I didn’t know she was a thief.”

it's k! end thread now? 302 words

Mati's words confirmed Tokyo's suspicions, and Princess instantly dropped from one of the most highly regarded wolves in the world to somewhere near the scum that Buttface was. How dare she. Tokyo had warned her explicitly about Crimson Dreams, had forbidden her from traveling there.. And to defy her so blatantly! God, the whole pack was disgusting. It was a fitting place for her two failures of children to reside, but it infuriated her so much all the same. Savina had let them in? Even with the last name they bore? Maybe they had altered that, had hidden their identity. Buttface had changed his name to "Ares." No, no.. Mati had recognized the name Chance. Savina would surely have been able to do the same. The dark bitch-leader of the pack to the south west. How dare she subvert her children. The minimal crime that Tokyo committed against the bitch's tiny daughter paled compared to the grave offense the Dahlian had just discovered.

"Yes.." She said slowly, regretfully. "Be careful not to leave her around your valuables. She's can be a bit of a liar, too, so.. just be careful." It was only fair to make her daughter's life a little harder, what with all the misery Princess caused her mother to experience. Maybe word would even travel from this overlarge girl to the bitch leader herself. Maybe her daughter would get kicked out of another pack. Oh, that would be amusing to the utmost degree. "But I must be off. Thank you, truly, for the news." Once again the earnestness in Tokyo's voice was unfeigned. She truly did appreciate her new knowledge regarding her children, and her new reason to despise Crimson Dreams. With one last appreciative smile, Tokyo turned and walked away. She needed to digest this information somewhere private.

How oblivious could the Church female be? It would be truly saddening if she even knew that the things the mother was saying was a lie, to think that she hoped to hurt Ares in some way. But all Mati could think about was how happy the male would be to know that his mother was searching for him and visiting Crimson Dreams in the future. She couldn’t believe it, as much as she had once hoped to know her father and be reunited with him she was able to help someone she really cared for. Her tail moved subtly with the excitement of telling Ares the news, and perhaps she would mention it to Princess, though the two avoided each other like the plague. And now it wasn’t even safe to leave her room door open, with the chance that she might loose something important. There were too many things that Mati had to travel to different places in Halifax that would fit easily in a pocket. She would have to keep her eyes peeled for the girl stalking around her door.

Mati waved briefly as the woman said her goodbyes and turned to leave. For a moment Mati watched as she walked away, as if she might turn back to say she wished to go this moment to see her children. She would have been happy to bring her to the borders and then call for the two siblings. But, perhaps Haven should be there, to meet the mother of Princess, since he liked her so much. It was an odd thought, and as she rolled it over in her mind she realized that the idea of her brother with the dress wearing female was not as painful as it had been. They all deserved to be happy, and of course if she did ever hurt him Mati would be happy to take care of any vengeance. The tall brown wolfess turned and began to head towards her home, her mind strolling through all the ways she might avenge Haven’s feelings if the time ever came.
