Silas and his family (well, part of it) had been here for almost three months now. It didn’t seem as if it could have possibly been that long, but the decreasing temperature and the bare trees gave it all away. Winter was slowly sinking over Nova Scotia and Silas felt as if he and his family hadn’t done much since their time here. Silas himself hadn’t done too much exploring. He had stuck close to the city, finding it comforting and feeling more and more like home with each passing day. But he knew it would be smart to get out and explore his surroundings.

He had still yet to hear any word of his siblings, and he knew more packs were out there. That was why today he had decided to continue on their mission of discovering another of the packs out there. Another trek through Arachnea’s Revenege had eventually spit him out at Inferni’s borders. It was just a few yards away from the mounted skulls of wolves and humans that Silas had stopped, staring in amazement.

He had come across a member of Inferni before, in Arachnea’s Revenge no less. Razekiel had left Silas with a very cool lighter and an extra cigarette for his journey home. The boy now had a fine appreciation for those tobacco sticks. But this didn’t seem like the type of place that Razekiel could have come from. Silas supposed he'd have to wait and see. "Is anybody home?" He called out in Russian, slightly teasing, knowing no one would understand his words anyway.

Table by James./ Oh hiiii Anna ♥ & yaaay being too lazy to change out tables for different characters! Smile

Mason had taken to lurking around the borders like a small, sandy colored ghost. Since he had met Hybrid, he had adopted a much more reserved attitude, especially regarding wolves. His interactions with Hybrid had boosted his confidence. Mason was the youngest member of Inferni at the moment, and he had an unquenchable thirst to prove himself worthy of his place in the clan. Hybrid had not regarded him as a chid, unfit to protect the clan, when they had found the strange yellow furred wolf wandering in their woods. Instead, he had regarded him as something of an untutored equal.

He found that sort of thing heady. He felt like he was no longer just mimicking adult behaviors, and that perhaps it was time to advance his skills. He patrolled the borders bit by bit everyday, rubbing his flanks against trees and posts to reinforce the scent of Inferni on his skin. He had been here for months, and was growing into his frame now. He was at the point in his development where his limbs had stretched and now he was lanky and moved somewhat awkwardly. Nevertheless, Mason was pleased to be growing. He had yearned to grow since before he had arrived here.

The Tirones Minor found the "fence line" mounted with skulls sickeningly fascinating. It was a macabre show of power, and something that he decided he liked very much. Perhaps one day he would be able to mount a head upon a post at the borders, and let it stand as a testament to the world that Mason was fearsome and would defend Inferni with maddening devotion. His loyalty was not mindless, but the bit of invincibility he felt was definitely foolhardy. Growing or not, the boy was still smaller in stature due to his coyote-dominant blood.

Oversized ears pricked when he heard a voice using an unfamiliar language. Both curious and suspicious, the boy weaved his way between the mounted skulls. "What do you want?" he said between gritted teeth.

A frown found his features when no one responded right away. It seemed as if Silas had come at a bad time. Perhaps this part of the borders had been freshly patrolled and the coyotes of Inferni had moved on to some other stretch of their territory. No matter, Silas could wait after all. He took a few steps forward, pausing in front of one of the piked skulls. This one was obviously canine – most likely wolf from the sheer size of it. Silas raised a hand and ran his fingers over the smooth ivory. It was eerie to know that it had come from a live creature (like his father) but interesting to see it displayed in such a way. He was almost mesmerized by it, instead of deterred.

The shuffling of paws barely preceded the words. Silas looked towards his company with a grin. He had been expecting someone much older, but didn’t hold anything against Mason. Silas himself, after all, was just a few months past his first birthday. "To so ‘ello," he replied simply, letting his grin broaden. "What ees zhis place?"

Mason blinked as he realized that the stranger was not a full-blooded wolf. There was a hint of coyote in his scent and his appearance. The Inferni youth felt himself unconsciously relax just a fraction. His prejudice for his larger canine cousins was growing steadily, but seeing that Silas was a hybrid like himself put him a bit at ease. It settled his irrational thinking and he began to be a little more reasonable in his approach.

"You talk funny," Mason said with a bit of a wrinkled nose, his yellow eyes narrowed as he crept out to get a better look at the vagabond. Mason's thoughts often traveled from his brain to his mouth unbidden. Despite the fact that he was growing and maturing, he was still young and lacked tact.

"This is Inferni," the boy told the male. After getting a closer look, he could see that he was older than him, but not that much older. Mason felt himself grin a bit, his suspicions lessening. Maybe this guy wasn't all bad. "I am Mason the Terrible," he said, using the name that Kaena had coined for him, "defender of the coyote clan! Who are you?" That should leave the stranger suitably impressed.

"Eet cause I from Russia," he told Mason, though thinking the opposite. Silas was rather impressed with his ability to speak with everyone here. He found it strange that his Russian was becoming more and more abandoned, but was pleased that his English was improving slightly. His accent was still very thick, of course, but the sentences came out much smoother than before. "Inferni, eh?" He took another look around as if hearing the name would somehow change his outlook. It didn’t really.

"Mason zhe Terrible. Zhe defender? You keep zhe strangers away, huh?" He offered a small laugh, hoping Mason wouldn’t be so quick to turn him out. "Mine name Silas Agata. Or you may know... uh, Russo? I am also Russo." He found his icy eyes leaving the sandy colored boy and searching the area of land that stretched out behind them. The illusive land was Inferni. Silas wasn’t sure what he was expecting, but he felt as if he might just happen to catch a glimpse of something mysterious if he kept looking. "Who lives in Inferni?" Silas then asked Mason, looking back towards him. He was really just curious as to the public relations of all the packs here, but he didn’t want to outright ask. A little investigation wouldn’t hurt.
