can't wait for their next thread Big Grin 300+

The woman was only trying to help and she felt like she was floundering in her efforts. This was ultimately confirmed when Vieira pulled away from her completely. This time there was no use trying to keep her from leaving so Rikka didn't even try, remaining seated and bringing her hands to rest in her lap. Yellow orbs looked into the fire as her ears folded against her head, a sad frown on her face. "Just call me Rikka, please." The last thing she wanted was to be associated with the people the used her and ordered her around. The phrase had only been uncomfortable on her ears before, but now it stung. She wasn't like anyone who would think so high of themselves as to own another being and beat them down so that they would think nothing more of themselves than what they had been brought to believe. She never would be.

At Vieira's statement she only nodded her head solemnly. Right now it seemed as if she had done more damage than good and it burned at her like a hot coal. It didn't seem like she had even succeeding in convincing the younger canine that she was someone who wouldn't mistreat her and that she could count among her friends, if she had any. She didn't even watch as she stumbled back to her feet and moved to leave, heading back to the cave that her mother inhabited. After a moment her gaze shifted back to the slight girl though and she spoke softly, though still loud enough that Vieira could hear her. "If you ever want a friend, I'd be happy to be that person." Even if she didn't, Rikka knew that she would worry over the coyote and want to make sure that she was alright. It wasn't in her not to care.

She had taken a few steps back when Rikka urged her to call her by her name, something that would be difficult for her. Titles were automatic, having been beaten into her mind so many times, that one time of encouragement would not help. In mixed company, Vieira would never think twice about not calling her ma'am. Her eyes downcast and she took a few more steps back to go just when Rikka announced a friend would be waiting for if she needed one. Her paws remained still for a moment longer, as if she were considering or noting this down for future reference, but she said nothing. Instead, she turned her body around and headed for the cave and hiding away until Kaena returned.
