turn and face me

They parted with a smile; a nod of obligated geniality, and hidden forked tongues poised to scathe with wicked words. Sabin found the older woman intriguing, and was no less surprised to learn that this was the same Kaena that Eris sent him to find. Of course, he refrained from mentioning anything regarding his chore, and decided to humor the coyote matriarch for the time being and entertain his own thirsty curiosity. The Inferni were a strange bunch, but no less interesting than most coyote families he ran across. Sabin could only assume that the ranks were filled with the family of the old woman, and the current leader, Gabriel. Stationed as pillars to support the age-old pack, and keep it well within the grasp of the Lykoi's. It was a respectable endeavor and he could hardly fault them for it. The whole system was a structurally sound, and he found himself quite comfortable with the subordinate position he was given. His rank gave him plenty of room to maneuver relatively unnoticed by the rest of them, and even more so ignored. Who really gave a flying fuck about some newbie, anyway?

Besides, Vieira was fresh on the wind. He had little inclination to ignore it.

A tight smirk splashed across his lips, drawing an inky line up his pointed features; it reached his eyes, glowing in the fading light as a beautifully shattered mask of happiness. This was joy —elation, but there was no angelic innocence to be found in his acute expression. A darkness opened in him again, and he welcomed it with open arms; it fueled him, and fed his insatiable thirst for the driving movement within him. It stirred deep behind his chest, pooling like a thick, black sap. Sabin wanted to run to her, but after a moment he stopped himself, ears forward towards the caverns where her sent grew thick, and pungent in the cool December air. She was surely there, and Kaena had indeed taken the girl in as her own trophy. Vieira was a prize, however tarnished over the years. But Sabin loved his old toys best, because they were tried, and they were utterly true.

Perhaps tonight he would find that beautiful innocence within her again.

Sabin drew inward on himself, arching his back as his bones twisted, and opening his mouth in a silent cry as his muscles contorted to fit the taller, unnatural form. As always, he was left panting, but the pain was long over. Pushing himself to his feet, the hybrid stretched a bit before turning towards the caverns. He placed his hand on the wall, and followed it down to where the girl's scent pooled like a rich spring, but he did not dare moving closer. Sabin was not a stupid creature, and angering Kaena was far from his to-do list. So instead he waited, breath clouding around his face, and a sickness growing in his mind.

Vieira had been silent since her punishment yesterday morning. It tore at her brain, her emotions, and everything in between. She only spoke when spoken to and it was as short as she could make it. She made no effort to say more than she had to and did her best to avoid running into Kaena while in the cave. Most of the time she was not there and she could not feel more relief. Her punishment was over now, at least physically, and found it hard to think about anything else. When she was with her former owners, her punishments were often and hard and she lived in fear, going from one to the next. Kaena had been awkward when she was around but perhaps it was just Vieira and how her mind reacted to the punishment.

This morning, however, Vieira made sure she was awake before Kaena. She did not have instruction and simply, she sat at the opening of her room until she saw the woman starting to wake. She had been quick to attention but overlooked and the slave went about whatever business she could find. Her instructions were short and she went about the rest of the day straightening up. She had a hard time keeping her mind off it and so her tasks were repetitive, doing things twice over several times because the cave was limited on things. She moved one thing and then turned it around but only replaced it like it had been originally in case it upset Kaena. She would toss her blankets around and make them easily. She repeated the task as well in order to pass the time.

When she turned, she found a rock or two at the entrance of the room. She easily scooped them up and moved away. Her mind occupied on what she was doing in order to shut out her torture, she did not notice the scent that was ahead of her and out of the cave. It wasn't until she saw him that she stopped in her tracks, gasped, and dropped the two rocks she had been carrying. They were tiny and made a sound, but it was not overly dramatic. Vieira forgot about them and, instead, watching his form standing up ahead.

As he stood there, he began to notice the way the caverns amplified the sounds around him; there was a distinct shuffling sound from within Kaena's quarters, as if someone was busying themselves with work or what not, but there was no sign of the older woman. It took little effort to realize it was likely Vieira, doing her civic duty. Hah, there was a lot more she could be useful for than meager chores, but Sabin chose not to currently dwell on that train of thought. Instead he was preoccupied with setting up a beautiful scene, one which Little Red Riding Hood encounters the handsome wolf, or coyote, in this situation. He could almost feel the soft fur on her face twist under his paws as her expression changed from mute neutrality, to horror; oh the things they had seen, and learned, within each other! His father had been a fool to use her for the simple, primal pleasures. She was an instrument, a learning tool; a living example of so many harsh experiments. And yet, she remained whole; the edges were chipped a little, and there were worn spots on the exterior, but she was utterly intact.

And here it was, the grand finale.

His venomous eyes burned into her own as she rounded the corner, and her mouth contorted into a flawless circle as she spotted him. The rocks in her arms clattered to the floor, instantly forgotten in the wake of his appearance. He lifted his arm above his head, and leaned both him and it against it, "Vieira, my dear, you look pale." He murmured as he relaxed against the rock wall, "Really now, it is unbecoming of you." His tail swung side to side, utterly controlled, but acting like a lazy pendulum. A wickedness rose in him, born on wings of desire. It was that same pool of black pitch that consumed him like the tides, bubbling up from his stomach to chip away at his heart. It beat steadily against his ribs, playing a decadent tune.

He swept forward, reaching out to place a hand against her face. "I trust Kaena feeds you? Or perhaps she is different than the rest?" He inquired distantly, pressing closer still to the terrified girl. However much he wanted to take her then, he held himself in check; he did not want to win just yet, because the game still had to be played! Sabin crooned a wordless note, lips parting to brush against her ear with the softest of touches.

Of all the creatures from her past, she never expected to see Sabin. He had not been as sadistic as Sivaro, but he played more games than the elder. He tortured her mind when he was around (which wasn't often, but it was often enough) and she began to picture Sivaro in front of her. It was a mix of the two, now with a mental and physical torture all in one. If the two had been the same, her life would have been hell and perhaps over by now. The both of them around at the same time had been enough stress and just when she thought things would get better, everything got worse. Kaena had seemed fine until the previous morning, Sabin's appearance in front of her... she cringed at the thought and struggled to do anything but stand there awkwardly.

Her golden eyes only caught a glimpse of his face and she looked away, staring at his feet because she could not look at his face. She could not find his expression and, naturally, had to look away. His voice struck out at her and she cringed, her eyes closed and her hands clenched into balled up fists. She did not respond and she didn't have much time to begin with, because soon he was upon her. Her body jerked in reflex and she stepped back but the touch of his hand on her face made her turn slightly. She could not deny him fully, she feared what he would do regardless of the fact she had a new owner. He was strong and could force her to do what he wanted and it was part of the reason she did not run. He would win, every time, because he was stronger.

And what would Kaena do? It was not something she could predict, since she changed every time she was around the elderly woman. She was sure it would be different when she came home form this morning but nothing she could settle on. What if she came home to Sabin here and Vieira not doing her work? What would they talk about? Torture plans? Vieira didn't believe Kaena would protect the slave, not after her recent torture, and just want more ways to toy with young woman.

The touch of her face changed and she felt his hot breath on her ear, both of them angling backward, pointing behind her as he spoke. She didn't have an answer for this question here because she didn't want to answer. She didn't want to speak, she didn't want him to be here! Vieira stiffened and felt the brush of the wall against one of her shoulders, her golden eyes focusing on the wall around her. A question danced upon her lips but it never found the courage to escape, his reason for being here would remain untouched should he find out, and she worried he would be upset about his father's death and somehow pin it upon her, demanding some sort of revenge that she had murdered the man.
