Dated January 2

As the black woman advanced in the territory the peisage started to change a lot. The place of the tall trees and thick bushes was slowly taken by strange constructions that stood cold and forgotten like ancient monuments depicting an era long gone but never forgotten. It was that surprising combination of sizes and shapes that attracted Alex’s attention above anything else. Born and raised in total isolation, the female never evan knew of the existence of such majestic yet unnatural constructions let alone see one up close. And the weird beauty of town caught her in it’s mystic charms.

The snow covered path started to take the shape of her furry paws as the woman advanced further into the unknown territory. There was very little time since she was accepted in the pack that ruled all that amazing piece of architecture yet she knew nothing about the land she was going to call home and although her poor condition would have probably demanded some good rest and a nice, fresh meal Alex was not the type to rot in one place waiting for something to change. That being said the woman decided to wander off and see what kind of wonders awaited her out there. And she was excited like a pup.

The more she advanced, Alex saw more and more proves of surprisingly dynamic constructions and weird signs she could not understand. Buildings and paved alleys along with all sorts of signs ruled that piece of land almost like the ones that build them didn’t ever existed. And if the wasn’t the vegetation that grew alongside the roads and everywhere the pavement gave in to it’s green strength you could have easily say that place had a life of itself, away from the untamed beauty of wilderness.

Somewhere behind a bunch of randomly placed stores a high and majestic building caught Alex’s attention. It was different from the others, having couple of towers with some strange formations on top of them, resembling two sticks crossed and what was left of some interesting colored glass on the large, impressive windows. It didn’t took Alex much to get in and once inside that interesting building she just started to wander around examining the weird inside. It was a spacious building with a higher ceiling that what Alex already saw and with one large construction made of the already familiar crossed sticks on which something was pinned on.

As she approached the cross Alex couldn’t help herself but realize that creature was somehow familiar to her, evanthough she never saw something like that. It took her a while to remember what she was told about those creatures. A human… She whispered unintentionally, her voice echoing inside the building. Further at right she saw a few paintings which pictured other humans, each one having some strange yellowish marks around their heads. Alex sneezed couple of times as she tried to sniff those weird paintings than turned and started to wander in the inside of the building, making notice of every little detail she could set her eyes on.

The chairs, positioned in rows, perfectly arranged one after the other made her wonder how the whole inside looked when the humans used to come in. It seemed strange to her for a large crowd to assemble inside just to look at the cross but figured they had to have a reason for doing that. Walking to the cross she jumped on the table that was in front of it and sat there watching the empty chairs, picturing the humans standing there. Her hazel eyes moved from place to place, imagining faces and reasons for them to be there. It was almost like the scene was alive again and she could figure out every little detail of their expressions, every voice belonging to every man and every song sang by the women. Her imagination took her to places she never knew, following the traces of human minds. It was almost like she was in transe.

The young woman remembered a song her pack mates used to sing sometimes. It was about a superior creature that ruled every wolf’s life guiding it’s steps into the world. It was a song about faith and courage, about war and peace. The truth was Alex never believed in any creature above but she liked the song so much she memorized it.

Her voice echoed nice in the enclosed space giving it a quite personal meaning, although Alex just gave in to the dream. In a weird way she almost looked invincible sitting there, eyes closed and singing as she never used to do before.

And those who’ll rise their voices
And sing along the sky
Will never know the faces
Of evil passing by…
