I went ahead with this. Set after the Silas thread. Big Grin SSWM - 400

Well, Brooklyn wouldn't take no for an answer. Silas had been friendly and she found him funny, from his accent to the way he approached everything. Once more she wondered why the coyotes felt the way they did about wolves. It was obvious that some, like Gael and Silas, were hybrids, with wolf blood running deep into their veins. That meant that the parents had had to have felt some sort of attraction. She refused to believe that everyone was a product of rape, because that meant that there was no more love in the world. She could not fathom a world without some love in it, where everything was about possession and never about sharing. Shaking her head to chase away the shadows of doubt, she looked around curiously. She was far away enough not to attract undue attention and the forest around her seemed to protect her from harm. Sighing, she lay down on her back, watching the cloudy sky through the canopy.

The sea was barely audible now, but Brooklyn could close her eyes and imagine herself on the shore, the sand slightly damp. She wanted it to be summer again, so she could go swimming. The water would be freezing now and really, she didn't exactly feel like it. In a way, Brooklyn mused, she was much older now than when she'd met Gael. What would he think of her now? Would he think her childish or wordly? Would she think him slow or would he be a source of wonder, as he had back when they had first met? It was funny and strange at the same time, to imagine how they had both changed. Had he found his father? Had he found peace in that whole mess? She had. She wanted to forgive her mother for her... well, for having children. Of course she had been angry, but why should she cut ties with the one who had born her because of this? Those puppies were guilty of nothing, nothing at all.

The white female needed someone she could talk to. Strangers and friends were nice, but in her heart, she needed guidance. She needed strength that only family could offer. Naniko. Anu. Mati. Haven. They were all family, bound by life and bloodlines. To Brooklyn, Anu was a better parent than her natural father could ever be. It was that thought which gave her solace.

Marik held no prejudices. He didn’t care about gender or species or any of that. For him there only needed to be interest. That wasn’t such a difficult request now was it? But then again he wasn’t one to settle either. He couldn’t see himself with just one being forever and ever. So with that interest had to be the understanding that they wouldn’t be the only one. But it wasn’t like he expected whomever he messed with to live a monogamous life. Oh no, he wasn’t about to limit others when he wouldn’t even dream of limiting himself. It just wouldn’t be fair. While he didn’t exactly follow that moral compass to a T there were some things that he wouldn’t do. He wouldn’t request for someone to be faithful to him if he had no intention of ever being faithful. And he certainly didn’t intend upon doing that any time soon if ever at all. What was the point when there was so much to life? When there were many to sample? Why limit yourself if you didn’t have to? It didn’t make any sort of sense to him at all. But then again he was only a single coyote and so his opinions were his own. He couldn’t speak for everyone else. He wouldn’t speak for everyone else. It just wasn’t his style. He only concerned himself with himself, and perhaps Cotl from time to time, but no one else. He wasn’t out to run everyone’s life. Instead he just wanted to live his own.

The reason Marik was over in this country was for his brother. He had first intended to show up and just drag Cotl back with him. But he wouldn’t do that seeing how happy the other was here. It was weird, his brother was actually able to fit into this place. His brother had friends and everything here. It was something he hadn’t managed to accomplish in Germany. So why should he drag his bother back there when he was so happy here? It just wouldn’t be right. But Marik didn’t exactly fit here. He didn’t have friends like he needed. Yes, he needed them because he was a deviant. And well, Cotl didn’t need him anymore. He used to be his brother’s savior but now he was nothing. He felt replaced. And if not for the promise he had made to stay then he probably wouldn’t be around anymore at all. He would have returned to his life in Germany in he hadn’t promised his older brother that he would stay. Marik didn’t like these lost and unknown feelings that he had been experiencing. He just had to go out and try to find some friends. What else could he do? Maybe then he would start to feel at ease and no longer feel so unwanted. At least that was the plan.

Marik left behind Inferni. Left behind preparations. Sometimes one just had to get away. Had to take time for themselves. It was what was best for the mind. He had no idea where he was heading to. He just had to go. Had to get away. Just take a day for himself. After all eh hadn’t even time to thoroughly explore this new place that he had come to before all hell seemed to want to break loose. And it wasn’t as if there wasn’t a number of able and willing bodies around to do the work. He was still new to the way of things. New to the whole clan and everything about the areas around it. So he didn’t care what they would have to say. He headed away without a word. Cotl was the only one that really knew him and his sibling wouldn’t even end up missing him. No, Cotl had replaced him. They would stay up together at nights and talk and then Cotl would take off in the morning to do the things they talked about with someone else. It almost made Marik want to break his promise. So not liking the way that these thoughts were heading he had to get away. Had to put as much distance between himself and the place as his small body would take him.

He was aimless in his wandering, having taken off down the coast that Inferni had claimed and on out past that. He had thought to travel further. But a fresh scent had caught his attention. It didn’t matter that it was wolf. As was said before he held no sort of prejudices at all. All he was focused on was that there was a living being somewhere nearby. There was a body around. Perhaps a friend to be made? He needed it. He had been going too long without. The hybrid had gotten to the point that he was complaining near about every day. This was certainly the longest that he had been going without and it was torturing him. It was to the point that it was getting physically painful for him. That certainly wasn’t a good feeling at all. It wasn’t something that he would wish on anyone, enemy or not. Forced abstinence was torture. But what else could he do since he wasn’t about to cross that line of morality?

Which was why he made quick to follow after the fresh scent. Perhaps he could prove to be charming. Perhaps he could garner interest. Or perhaps this wolf was just going to hate him no matter what. It was something that he had no real choice in. All he could do was to wait and see, hope and pray. And if nothing proved fruitful then he was just going to have to cut his losses. Not something that he was looking forward to but it happened. Not much else he could do about it.

He slipped in among the trees, following after the scent that had attracted him in the first place. And then he began to see it, glimpses of white among the trees. And as he drew closer those glimpses started to shift into a full image. A female image. Marik was quick to bite back a needy whine. Yep, that wasn’t something he could be doing while within earshot of this glorious creature laying stretched out before him. But he could afford for some other sort of sound. Perhaps the sound that lay in words? “There must be turmoil wherever you hail from to have lost someone as stunning as you.” He spoke the words as he approached, making his presence known. Still he kept a respectable distance, having come out to where he would be easily noticed. And of course he took the opportunity to look her over. It was something he did with everyone.
