Into the Forest

The Forest of Nod, it was a beautiful place that the coyote had come across. A smile crossed his face as he walked along the cold ground. His heart was pounding at the beauty that surrounded him despite the pretty dormant trees. Winter indeed was a time that caused nature to recede back into its dormant state, but he loved the snow. It was all beautiful to him as he made his way through the forest looking for a place of his own. No, it wasn’t like he wanted to be alone, but he preferred living in a forest. Maybe it was nostalgia of how his family used to live, but when he saw the forest he knew he would live there. Smiling to himself he was in his Optime form, walking like a human would. Of course he didn’t mind the three forms, but he chose this one as a way to move through the snow better. In his other forms it was much harder and though he didn’t like to us his lack of a build as the reason for it, it was.

Ears were alert as he tread the ground quietly, his body ready just in case. His new home was oh so new to him, but he was grateful for being accepted. The coyote turned his eyes around the Forest of Nod. At home the forests seemed to be much darker than they were here. It was most definitely less frightening. Moving along casually he began to lose his guard as he tilted his head to the side. Now his forest home had been beautiful but he thought this place was magnificent and he couldn’t help but grin. Nature was somehow soothing he had to admit I, but he enjoyed the other life he had been introduced to as well. Right now he was experiencing the freedom of not having someone tell you how pathetic and useless you are. Yes, he felt he could actually contribute to the clan here. His heart pounded in his chest at the excitement of finally showing his worth.

Licking a fang he found a tree that he came over to and laid down against, a leg propped up. His arms were put behind his head to be a cushion as he sat on the cold ground. Tail wrapped around his leg as he yawned. Closing his eyes he felt very relaxed here, despite a slightly chilly wind sweeping through his fur causing him to shiver slightly. There just had to be another way to get warm, but it wasn’t like he had anything on him. All he did was run from Germany. Barely did he stop to take a breather as his ear twitched slightly in anticipation of the col. Maybe he shouldn’t be lying here by himself in the cold. But where else was he going to go? He didn’t know anyone save for two here but he hadn’t met either. Sighing he sat up finally, his eyes opened to the world around him. Ah well. Maybe he’ll be lucky and find a place here that would be warm.

How was Marik to know that his best friend from Germany was here? He had come chasing after his brother. He had left behind everything in Germany without a word to follow after the note that his brother had left for him. He had only planned on coming to Canada and getting Cotl then returning to Germany. But he couldn’t do that after learning that his brother was happy here. That Cotl was actually fitting in and had even gotten himself a rank. How could he force his brother away from that and back to Germany where he had nothing going for him. His slightly older sibling was prospering here. It was something that he was never allowed to do back home. So Marik couldn’t steal that from him. Or rather, steal him from that. And with the promise that he had made he had to stay he wasn’t allowed to leave. His brother didn’t need him but also wouldn’t let him leave. Marik didn’t much understand it himself. His brother had replaced him but got clingy whenever Marik considered returning to Germany where he had left his life behind. He hadn’t thought that when he left he would be giving up everything. He thought that it would be a quick trip. That he would get Cotl and they would return together and that would be that. It was the reason eh hadn’t left a note or allowed any of his friends to know that he was taking off. He didn’t expect to still be here. And there was nothing he could do now about informing his friends of his whereabouts. Marik was just out of luck.

Marik didn’t do much with his days. Sometimes he went to explore, taking trips to Halifax mostly. But mostly he had been working in the forest on the gift for his brother. He wanted Cotl to know that he appreciated him and would be with him always despite what his musings might say. Inferni was an okay place even if he didn’t exactly fit. He didn’t have the friends like Cotl did. Didn’t have a rank. Didn’t have anything that he was especially good at. He could do a bit of this and that, having picked up on things easily but never going full out to pursue them. The only thing that he had fully explored was his libido. But that was because it drove him insane and caused him physical pain if he did not. If not for these ailments he probably would have been lazy in that aspect as well. But that wasn’t to say what he did do was in a half hearted nature. Oh no, he gave his very best. He strode for perfection in what he did when he had to perform. He had been taught that much at least. But he hadn’t picked up ambition for himself. So yes, he would do as he was told but didn’t go out of his way to do something that he had no particular interest in. But learning new things was always fun, even if he never made use of that knowledge. But at least he had it in case he ever needed it.

So in the usual routine of the days in Inferni he had parted from Cotl as they left their bed behind. They went separate ways throughout the days and regrouped again at night in order to cuddle all night long. Sure, it wasn’t exactly a normal relationship but when could the Ulrich brothers ever be referred to as normal. Each had their own little ticks and things that they couldn’t help. Marik’s problem was less obvious as a problem. Males were inclined towards sex so that wouldn’t really be seen as a problem. But only Cotl seemed to realize that it was much worse for Marik. That it actually hurt him to go without. And the mood shifts? Well on the surface they would be seen as normal as well but his came about without provocation. So he had his own little set of problems that seemed quite normal on the outside. But just like Cotl’s mouthing off these were things that he couldn’t control. They just happened and had to be lived with. But in Marik’s case he had been accepted easily because his own little ticks weren’t noticeable. Yet here he couldn’t help to feel out of place. He didn’t have purpose with Cotl doing so well on his own.

The hybrid struck out into the forest for yet another day of aimless time spent away from the mansion that he lived at with his brother, and perhaps others that he had yet to have met. That would come sooner or later though. He didn’t mind it so much right now. But when he got desperate then he certainly would. But right now he wasn’t to that point right yet. Though Cotl was hearing him starting to complain. But he could go another couple of days yet. After that he would be forced to do something… or someone rather. If only Cotl were a better brother… He shook his head to disrupt that line of thought. No, Cotl was the best. He was glad that others had finally noticed what he had seen all along. It was good that his brother had friends. Even if that meant that Marik was being left behind in the sands of time. Watch it, there would come times when Cotl wouldn’t even return to share the bed with him at night. But again that was another train of thought that was better left alone. Better to be derailed.

And then unexpectedly a scent distracted him. Oh sure, he knew there were other Inferni members roaming about. But for the most part he didn’t know them. This was a scent he knew though. From Germany, not Inferni. But why would he be here? How could he have come this far? Why would he have come this far? Unlike his brother he didn’t bother to tell anyone that he was leaving. Still he found himself racing through the forest. Racing towards the source of the scent. Kai-butt!?” He found himself yelling as he followed the scent. There was a grin upon the hybrid’s lips at the thought of seeing the full coyote again. Fritz made even the brothers seem tall. By a couple of inches but whatever. It was one that Marik didn’t have to crane his head back in order to look up at someone. And really, Fritz should recognize who was calling him. Who else would use such a silly nickname.

And then Marik saw him. The boy rounded the tree and leapt at Fritz, seeking to pounce on him and nuzzle him happily. Tongue slipped out to try and lick as much of his friend as possible. So what if he was acting pupish? Marik could care less right now. He was glad for this reunion. Glad to see one face, one body, that he knew. A happy whine slipped out from somewhere deep within his throat. He was just so glad to have a friend here that he didn’t know exactly how to express it exactly.
