Anya trotted far that day, never expecting to wander as far as she had. The birds had taunted her, pecking at her ears like bees over a luscious flower. It had seemed like the birds were driving her to find something or someone...

The dark femme looked around, rather annoyed at the sparrows who had driven her this far out of the pack boundaries. She noted dimly that there had been an abandoned cemetery somewhere north of here, in the city. Anya realized that there were many herbs here that Phoenix Valley, for all the herbs that were there, did not have.

Anya raised her head suddenly as she smelled something. She couldn't quite identify what the scent was, so she lowered her head and began to gather the herbs that would help heal her wolfen family at Phoenix Valley. She was bound and determined to earn back her place in Phoenix Valley, and thus claim the position of apothecary. Parsley was a good herb for cooking, sage helped keep the flies away from any wound, and rosemary and thyme helped to invigorate the individual who smelled them. An old human folksong, Scarborough Fair, ran through her head, drowning out any possible thought.

Marik had cut through the city. Had wandered right on through it without stopping. If wasn’t that he had grown tired of it already. Instead he was simply curious as to see what was beyond it. What else was there out there? He had yet to travel much. Mostly sticking about Inferni or Halifax, and perhaps a place in between a time or two. But really that was the extent of it. He really should get out more. But with what was to soon transpire he didn’t really have the ability to just disappear as he would need to in order to reach the further parts of this new country. But perhaps after everything had settled down and it was all over with. Then maybe he could travel everywhere and see everything. But that would have to wait until after everything had settled down. For now he had to remain close, only venturing out far enough in which to gather supplies and then return. He was sticking close so that he could listen out for a call from the clan. But some days he just wanted to get away. Like today. He wasn’t a healer so he couldn’t blame it on that. Though his friend did know the basics of it. It was just something he hadn’t learned for himself yet. But he was always will to learn. Always willing to expand his horizons further. All he needed was someone to teach him. He was certain that he could pick up on it, whatever it was, rather quickly. That was just the way that he had always been with things. He had always been a quick learner. But that was it. He just learned them. He had never actually mastered any of them. He had never had the drive to. Certainly he could if he really wanted to but he had never felt anything to make him want to pursue most things further than what he had already. So it wasn’t for the lack of knowledge or ability, it was just about the lack of effort on his part. A lack of ambition to further pursue something that he may just be great at.

But still he had come out to escape the craziness surrounding Inferni. The preparations for war that had the coyotes of Inferni frenzied. He was still a new member there. He had no real idea what was going on. Hadn’t the real interest either. Though he had done his part. He had gone to Halifax for supplies. He had talked over traps with his brother. And now he had considered gathering stuff to take back to Fritz. Considered helping his friend stockpile things that may be needed. He wasn’t sure what they were but he figured he could visualize the things at least. Maybe he should have actually brought Fritz out with him to identify the plants there were actually needed but he hadn’t thought that far ahead at the time. All he knew was that he wanted to get away. Wanted to flee from what had taken over the clan that he had been newly accepted to. His brother was highly excited though. But Marik wasn’t like his brother in most aspects. On nearly every aspect really. Marik was a lover not a fighter. Yes, all of his scars were love marks. He could reflect on each and every one of them and be able to say where they all had come from. Who had given each one to him and what had happened. Just like scars should be they were badges of honor. And of course each had a counterpart elsewhere. It didn’t make sense for there to only be one of a pair. Each needed a mate. A matching counterpart on the other’s body. It was an extension to the joining of bodies. That was his way of thinking at least. That was the way that he always set things up. He wouldn’t perform without a lasting mark being placed. But he hadn’t had a mark placed in awhile. He would have to remedy that at some point. But for now he had to focus on war preparations.

But then it was the scent of another that distracted his thoughts. He had no idea who it was but could tell it was wolf. Not that he particularly cared about species. Unlike some of those in Inferni he didn’t hold prejudices. Why should he when he was a hybrid? His parents were of two different species, coyote and dog rather than coyote and wolf. But still it was mixture instead of being pure. So he didn’t discriminate against others because they couldn’t help what they were as much as he couldn’t help what he was. So it was curiosity in its most innocent form that had drawn him towards the scent. Already he would know that it was someone that he hadn’t met seeing as he hadn’t met many. Rather he was curious as to who it was and what they were doing. Marik was quite simply nosy. That was the bluntest way to put it. But it was also the absolute truth too. He wasn’t quite as awkward in social situation as his brother was. Actually he delighted in them. Any chance he got to flirt was a good one.

Walking about in his two legged form he came upon a female pulling up plants. It wasn’t like he was that impressive in this form. He only came up to five feet and three inches high. Not very tall for someone in optime form. But his height had never bothered him before and it still didn’t bother him now. He leaned against a nearby tree and watched the other. “Well, hello there.” He grinned as he spoke, making sure that his presence was know. “Would you like some help?”
Okay, so it wasn’t flirting right off though he had taken the chance to check the other out already. But then again that was a habit that he did upon first meetings with everyone. And oftentimes, on subsequent meetings as well.
