A few days passed since the hurricane ran its course. Those who made it to the cavern above the cave system stayed there for the duration. Tensions ran high and not much optimism existed amongst the cooped up canines. So when the weather broke everyone poured out quick as they could. Looking around he couldn’t believe what he saw. The sight was like a nightmare come true. Disaster everywhere he looked, many trees had fallen, even a part of Halcyon Mountain a ways away from the caverns crashed down. The male was uncertain if he wanted to see the possible extent to the damage, but he knew he should at least take a look.

Mido started his survey in the Howling Caverns. The flooding subsided pretty well, but not entirely. Trekking through the twisting halls the water came up several inches above his paws. In his own den everything was ruined or gone. The only things left to his possession were his Kamas and compound bow because they were high up on the wall. Their food store was trashed, only a couple pieces of meat floated in the water, they couldn’t use them. In the kitchen tables were tipped, pots, pans, lids, ceramic bowls, and tankards were strewn about. The Rakeeb had seen enough of the caves, without wasting another minute he splashed his way out.

The huskadore’s curiosity led him to Thackary Village. This wasn’t a pretty sight either. The hurricane fell a tree that crushed a portion of the Storm Tree Villa. Anathema’s gardening and weapons storage sheds collapsed, only a few tools and weapons littered the grounds. Warriors such as him were out of luck until they could reimburse their supplies. A few of the roofs on the surrounding buildings were beat up pretty good.

The results of uncontrollable nature started to set in. He stopped moving to sit, spacing out he stared at the damned up river. There was so much work to do. Mido hadn’t seen any of the other pack members since the storm; he hoped they made out okay. The male let out a deep sigh. This sucks. He spoke out to no one other than himself.

Pride moved slowly through the destroyed village. It was a good thing that few canines chose to make their home there. It was a mess to sort through. Spotting Mido Pride dipped her head courteously, her eyes continuing to scan over the destruction. It would take some time to clear the streets to make it so everyone could even pass through there. The houses, Pride wasn't sure if some of them would even be worth repairing after looking over how much damage was done to them.

She moved so she was standing beside the hybrid, and spoke softly. We could start gathering what supplies can be rescued from the storm, so we have tools for clearing everything. Or use the horses to help pull everything away. Pride's pale eyes looked over to him, waiting for confirmation on what he wanted. He was the higher ranked, so she would let him decide which one was the best way to start tackling it.

Bria… What form is Pride in? Poor poor Pride. She’s gonna get FILTHY! xD

He sat there running through ideas in his head, giving thought to the amount of work they would have to do. The more he thought about it the worse it all really seemed to get. Sighing he put a large paw over his eyes, like that would make all the damage magically go away. What a headache this hurricane had caused, probably not just him but many others too.

Mido looked back at the wind ravaged village from the edge of the river to see Pride coming his way. The Rakeeb knew full well who she was, even though he saw her hardly at all. He continued to forget that she wasn’t the little girl he remembered. She seemed so much more grown up now, much like her mother. Where the hell has the time gone? Once over the shock of her presence, her words registered in his head. On the list of things to do was too much to keep track of. All the snowy coyote’s ideas were certainly valid, but not quite as important as what was behind him.

Taking a paw he made a swirl like motion for her to turn around as he did. This is the first thing that has to go. If we don’t break this down water will flow into the village next time we see rain. A damn of trees, pieces of building, mud, leaves and other debris clotted up the river before them, it’s level was still high from the hurricane. The water threatened to swallow the bank at any moment should it rain. You ready to get down and dirty? He asked her literally. Poor Pride just happened to come across him at the most inopportune time. It was going to be wet, tiring and messy. The mutt shot her a very husky look. At this time it sucked to be them. Someone’s gotta do it.

Not another word to her, he went to the nearest edge of the damn and went to work. Clawing out a whole lot of muck and crap he stuck his head into the filthy water and pulled a stick out. He kept this pace up relentlessly; he’d do it till he couldn’t any longer.

OOC: optime, usually optime

Pride turned, looking over the dammed river bed. It looked like a terrible mess to clean up. The realization of what he was going to end up saying slowly dawned over the small coyote. This was not going to be fun. Well, she hadn't thought it was going to be fun, but it still irritated her quite a bit. The chances of her fur looking the same color that it was now by the time they finished was slim to none. Nodding her head Pride stepped closer. Of course. She might be an arrogant creature, but she worked hard. She could do this.

The young female stepped up and began tugging at the boards. Some were stuck more tight, but Pride quickly cleared away the loose pieces. Mud coated her paws, some of the jagged pieces tearing slightly. They did nothing worse than scratch, but it was still a pain to start going through it. Some of the water gushed past her finding an escape. Pride quickly dodged the cold torrent, but she was still damp and unhappy from it. Her work felt almost futile, digging through and letting the levels drop past.

The male worked his way through much of the gunk exposing the branches and boards that gave the dam its strength. It was a little bit like a puzzle or mind game. If he dug here like this and moved a removed a board over there like that it slowly came apart. With a stuck branch clenched in between his teeth he tugged hard, growling as jerked on it. It finally gave, like a domino effect more debris and water flowed freely through the opening he’d created. Ahah! It was very minor victory when compared to the bigger picture. The two were making progress in destroying the obstruction none the less.

The Rakeeb occasionally glanced over to the white coyote noting her dent in the work. She was more capable than him at the moment for his lack of opposable thumbs. If anyone was watching her, they couldn’t miss the fact that she wasn’t enjoying this. She still did it though without complaint, and she seemed to be doing a pretty good job too.

As they continued to pick away at the blockage the water level dropped significantly. Since the water was now able to move freely it didn’t threaten to over flow into the village so much. The male was cold, dirty, wet, and tired from the work. The task at hand was in his mind was the definition of misery. This has to be done, this has to be done. The quicker we get it done the better. There wasn’t much more they could do on the particular end they were on. Gracefully he jumped the gap and scrambled across the dam, nearly falling in once or twice. At the opposite side of the river began going to town on the stop. Again the huskadore pulled out debris, slowly allowing water to flow. How you doing Pride? With any luck if they undid enough of it the rest would break away.

More and more debris came loose, water tumbling through. She felt gross, and would definitely need a bath after this. It was a good thing they had hot springs. Pulling her cloak closer to her body she continued digging through. When what was on that side finally got out of the way she sighed with relief. Finished this side of the dam. There was still more to go unfortunately. Mido proved that dreary thought true as he crossed over and began working at getting rid of the blockage on the far side.

Crossing over she bent down, and began the process all over again, feeling the cold water hit against her hands. She would be much happier once this was complete. Pride didn't let any complaints slip past her lips as she worked. This was something that needed to be done, and while it would be nice if they had others helping out Pride wasn't afraid to do what needed to be done. She was better than that. Grabbing a particularly large branch she began to tug. It just didn't seem to want to let go.

Frowning Pride planted her feet strongly, and pulled even harder. She wasn't going to give up. She dug a little bit around the edges, trying to clear it away before pulling again. Her muscles strained as she went, feeling it fight back against her. The coyote gave one last giant tug, and the stick came loose. A torrent of water ran past, and the entire dam began to collapse. The stick she'd pulled out was huge! Relieved Pride sat down, watching it begin to wash away.

He dug away at the dam’s edge with determination. Stopping occasionally to catch his breath and return to clawing and biting the debris. Pride had finished up the other side and come to join the Rakeeb on the other. His mouth and nose and paws were cold nearly numb at this point, but he stubbornly pressed on, he was sure they could do it.

Mido moved part way onto the blockage to get at it better. Eyes set on the white coyote girl he could see her fight with a big branch; for some time it seemed like the branch had been winning the battle over her. One final and mighty tug from the Tormenta sounded a startling crack, she dislodged the branch. His body slunk low to the debris gripping it with his claws. The mutt’s eyes went wide in light of the realization, the dam was giving away and he was still on it. He knew how cold the water was, and he really didn’t want to be in it. The male made a quick leap for the bank. The river obstruction was swept away by the built up pressure beneath him. He made it to the river bank but he slipped on the muddy slope, submerging his lower half. The water was nearly freezing; the shock was enough to cause a distressed sound to escape his mouth. It wasn’t quite a cry but a high pitched groan uncommon to wolves.

His hackles stood from the experience. Cold and uncomfortable he shivered; glad they were done with the blasted task. It wasn’t nearly as time consuming as he imagined It was going to be, they still had a good portion of the day remaining. Well that was fun. Sarcasm enveloped his words. Since that’s over, what are you gonna do now? He asked the Angela’s daughter. It wouldn’t surprise him to hear she wanted to be done for the day, Mido certainly wouldn’t blame her. Regardless he was still in a working mood, if she took off he would go back to the village and cleanup.

Her actions had blown away a lot of the work they had left to do, thankfully. Pride hadn't been paying close attention to Mido, as focused as she was on her work. When the stick came free knocking most of the dam free Pride was surprised to find him standing out in the middle of it. The pale coyote backed away as rapidly as she could, not wanting to get in the way if he chose to leap to shore. He did his best, but the hybrid still managed to take a bath in the cold river.

Pride made sure to keep her distance from him now. She didn't want to be soaked by Mido when he shook off. Glancing around Pride sighed. There was still work to be done. As much as she wanted a bath, clearing the village was more important. Start clearing the village. She hated this, she really did. She wanted to go back and wash up, and practice with her weapons. This was what the pack needed though, so it was what she would do.

What the girl said he didn’t expect to hear. Dirty and probably cold she was still willing to work. He smiled, turning around he moved away from her before violently shaking the excess water from his coat. Upriver a little ways there was a tree the two could cross to get back to the village. She certainly is her mother’s daughter isn’t she? Pride’s attitude and general behavior was very similar to her mothers’. I’m glad to hear you haven’t had enough yet. You’re very mature for your age. So that’s how it seemed to him.

Once back in the village, he took the time to shift into Optime form. This way he could he could work better and ultimately be more useful. In his mind the destroyed tool and weapon sheds were the place to begin. If they were lucky there would be a few tools kicking around they could use later. Till the sheds were rebuilt they would need to store stuff in the stables. Loading his arms full of debris, he dumped it onto the ground away from everything. He’d started a pile that could be burned. Several trips back and forth already made the site of the burn pile strikingly large.

OOC: wrap up?

Pride followed after Mido, though she stayed a good distance away. She had a reason to be thankful for that when the hybrid shook himself out. She didn't want to get anymore damp than she already was. Trudging along she crossed over the river with care, clinging to the wood so she wouldn't be taking a bath as well. It was the hot springs for her. At least the day was cloudy enough to keep the sun from stinging her eyes. It'll be easier if we work together. If Mido was doing this by himself it was guaranteed to take hours. With Pride helping along they might be able to get a good portion of it done before night settled again.

Carefully she moved through the village. Now they could clear the debris. Swiftly she began to pile the items up, working to get rid of what was useless. The piles grew rapidly as they worked. An ache built in her bones as time slid past. It didn't seem as if there was an end to it. Once a pile got large enough Pride set it on fire, taking a moment to rest before continuing on. She might not be very large, but she was willing to work. She wasn't going to step back from this as long as Mido worked as well.

Yeah, lets finish here. Power play of her with fire if that’s alright.

By this time the two of them had done a lot of work together. They had several large piles of debris collected here and there. The white coyote girl already set one of the heaps ablaze. The male kept working on clearing out the area. There was light at the end of the tunnel for them, the result of their labor would be a more habitable Thackary Village. A dozen more trips to the dump sites and each of them were massive in size and ready to burn. You can light those up too. Having set the others on fire the smoke plumed into the sky.

Before he realized it they were done, exhausted he let out a sigh of relief. There was no more work to be done here. Walking over to the Angela’s daughter Mido gave her congratulatory pat on the shoulder. You did good Pride, you should be proud. I don’t know how you relax, but be sure to take a load off. She certainly deserved it. I’ll see you around. He gave her a smile before taking one of the paths back to the caves. There were other things that required his attention too. At some point he would get to kick back and be lazy nut now wasn’t the time.
