NPC Procedures Revamp

Hey 'Souls, we've introduced a new page of information detaining our various NPC procedures. Previously, NPC information was scattered across the Procedures information as well as the RP Guide -- now, all of our information is located in one comprehensive topic, here.

ALL players interested in roleplay with NPCs or absentee NPC status are encouraged to read the guidelines as there is important new information available -- primarily, the introduction of Temporary NPCs, as well as a clarification regarding "adoptable NPCs" (which don't exist). Additionally, some new-ish acronyms (you've probably seen them around in colloquial use as well as on some packs' rank listings) regarding the different types of NPCs have been introduced.

It's also probable there are now outdated links directing players to both of these old locations -- it's helpful to us if you post any of these outdated links to the Maintenance thread so they can be fixed. o: Thanks in advance!

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the new guidelines, do let us know!

Glad to help, Bria!

Some general questions we've gotten regarding NPC procedures:

Do Luperci ghosts count as a character's canine companion?
Yes.

Can youth NPCs be "transferred" to another character, if for example the parent character(s) both die?
Yes -- but only when they're still a puppy (less than 7 months). The "transfer" process should be reflected ICly, wherein the adopting character (for example, an adoptive parent) takes up an active role in caring for the yNPC.

A yNPC may remain attached to their parent(s) (biological or adoptive, following the above stipulation) indefinitely, but once the yNPC is an adult of 7 months or more, if both parents die or otherwise leave the board, other arrangements must be made (such as becoming a pNPC or a cNPC to another active character).

If my character has a cNPC and I decide to put them on aNPC status, does their cNPC also receive aNPC status?
Yes, if your character already has a cNPC at the time they were placed on aNPC status, their cNPC may be added as well. "Retroactively" adding NPC status to a cNPC is not permitted (for example, if Jackal has been aNPCed for two months, Jackal's player cannot have Jackal assume a "found puppy" NPC without picking Jackal back up).
