Zeeeekeeee! Her call was soft, melodious, even with the high keen of childhood behind it. She poked her head into the den, blinking in the darkness, tail waving behind her.

Her search for her brother wasn't proving to be fruitful, but then, Talitha was guilty of trying to multitask.

Her eyes remained strongly on the territory around her, around her family's den, as she attempted to be the kind of guardian that her father was.

But her eyes also wandered in hopes of finding her near look-alike brother. Where had he got to, anyway? Talitha couldn't believe he wasn't even there, but he probably was. She wasn't really looking hard enough, that was it. On the horizon, she watched a sea bird take flight, and her interest in Ezekiel waned, but only briefly.

Br'ver, wh'r' 'ou?

Ezekiel had never been the patient kind of child. He could have moments where his actions were less hurried than usual, but the majority of the time his mind and body were always on the go. As was habit for the boy, he’d been up at the crack of dawn and out of the den, for it was one of those days where he’d felt the urge to be alone.

Upon leaving the den and his family behind, Ezekiel had ventured off a ways, tracking the scent of something foreign. Probably a rodent of some sort, based on what his senses were telling him and he wanted it. Instinct was a welcome companion, as Ezekiel found that he taught himself more than anyone else taught him.

His nose stuck close to the ground as he moved along the edge of the den, following closely the smell of what he was searching for. His stomach was low to the ground, and while his head was tilted down, his red eyes were up and alert—always searching. However, he was distracted from his hunt by the sound of his name. His ears swiveled and he immediately jumped up, looking and listening for whatever was around him.

There it was again. The same voice in different words. He was careful now to follow the sound that could only belong to his sister. She must be looking for him, he reasoned. And he certainly didn’t want to keep her waiting. Following the way back to the den, he gaze soon met his sister’s searching eyes. They connected in recognition and Ezekiel began to pick up his pace as he headed towards Talitha. "Hi, Tal! Wacha doin’?" he asked as he greeted her with an affectionate nuzzle.
Unlike many Lykois before them, she and her brother were not at each other's throats, nor did they have any traces of insanity in them, at least not visibly to the public. She followed after her father in every way, true, but that didn't mean anything. She grinned brightly as her brother came waddling on over the horizon, and her thick tail swung every which way when he came up near her. His greeting was all but ignored for the moment as she returned his nuzzle with a tender lick to his nose, eyes bright.

They matched. It was kind of cute, except that it was quite normal for her to be the same as her brother in appearance. Her mother didn't have too much of a part of herself in them at all: Talitha and Ezekiel looked just like their father, but for the shining red eyes. Perhaps that meant something, or perhaps it didn't.

It was all up to the beholder, after all.

I'm jus'... Lookin'. That was the only explanation. Wh'r' a'e we?
