wild and running for one reason

Yaaay lame starter. <3

It had not been simple, but finally the pair of travelers had crossed the river and were heading east once. They trekked between the mountains on the left and the coyote border markings on the right, and while Levent was curious about the strong odor of the fiery clan, he would not risk Wilson’s health. Until they knew of good hiding areas, they would stick together, and he did not want to be caught at the borders with his best friend standing vulnerable at his side—especially as Amy had warned him about Inferni, about its violence and capability. Perhaps that way lay power, too, but Levent was wolf through and through.

The tomcat was glad when they were no longer pressed between coyote and foothills, and his meow of delight rang clear when they approached the edge of a forest. Once again, all the trees were barren and early spring snow blanketed the ground, but he knew it would be a great place for shelter and hunting later. Deer would drop their fawns while rabbits raised their kits and birds hatched their fledglings. It would be nice to lay back and observe them, or eat them if he was hungry enough.

Wilson noticed a movement in the snow that Levent missed, and he wasted no time dropping into a crouch, inching forward step by step, his haunches giving a wiggle before he pounced and killed the creature. He was already purring when the wolf laughed and hunkered down beside him, tugging his tail. “You’re certainly already adapting, <alt title="friend">arkadaş</alt>,” he pointed out, grinning.

The cat whirled around and swatted his hand away before trotting along. He executed another magnificent leap, this time digging his claws into the bark of a slightly slanted old tree. He scrambled up and out onto a branch easily, purring and letting his tail and one leg dangle from the limb.

Levent snorted. Figuring that few would climb the tree to get to the feline, he tossed his backpack up there as well as Wilson ate. He might as well do some exploring, and so he began to jog through the woods.

Oh hai thar /+301

It was a fairly rare occasion recently that one would find Ezequiel simply resting and doing nothing. In recent months the jackal hybrids every move had been for survival's sake, even his carving had been so that he had things to trade, but now for the first time since reaching America Ezequiel was relaxing, letting the near constant tension that had racked him as a result of the pursuit across Europe finally fade away a tiny bit.

Ezequiel was currently lounging along a thick branch, fairly low down on a tree with a truck to match its impressively strong branches. The winter months had left this large specimen bare of elaves and so if Ezequiel had cared to see, or even ahd his eyes open, he would have been able to easily see the brown wolf running in the general direction of his tree out of the distance.

However instead of paying attention Ezequiel was singing. Or to be specific he was singing in Irish, an old lullaby that his mother used to sing to him and Anita a long time ago. Ezequiel wasn't the best singer, he was actually fairly bad at it, but he was talented enough to relax himself with the calming song and it showed in his posture; aside from a single arm gripping the branch for balance all his limbs hung down bonelessly.

If one were to somehow miss both Ezequiel and his quiet singing then the staff at the bottom of the tree would grab their attention. Made of lacquered black wood, carver with intricate celtic symbols and topped with a gleaming silvery blade the staff was a rather impressive sight, and was currently set against the three trunk by itself, directly beneath Ezequiel where he could hear if somebody was attempting to steal it.

LEV WANTS HIS STICK ;3

Levent was prepared for a whole number of things as he jogged between the dark, naked old trees and kept his balance on the slushy snow. He probably wouldn’t have batted an eye had a bear stood before him roaring, or if a rabid dog crashed drunkenly through the undergrowth. His body was not quite tense, but it was ready to spring for safety at any moment, ready to put his weight into one foot and pivot and hightail it out of there or fight or schmooze if flight was impossible.

He was not prepared for the sound of Irish singing, however, or the sight of a tricolor luperci hanging one-armed from a tree like the monkeys he sometimes saw in the markets or on the road. He skidded to a halt, dark ears coming up in disbelief, and broke out into a grin as he simply stood to watch and listen. True to his nature, however, his blue eyes slid down from the hanging man’s tattooed and lean body to the staff leaning against the tree. He could only imagine the stranger dropping down on him with a knife plunged into his back if he made even the slightest of movements toward the wooden object—but oh, he could only imagine how much he would get out of trading such an item.

“<alt title="Hello!">Merhaba!</alt>” Levent called, his hands cupped around his muzzle as if his voice wouldn’t naturally carry up into the branches. He grinned broadly, pleased for a whole host of reasons with what he saw. He was suddenly glad his feline companion was back in the tree.
