Initial post:

There was a comfortable hum from the waves that misted the area around the rocky outcrop overlooking the sea. A beautiful wolf stood on the edge, her silver fur whipping in the salty wind, stinging her icy grey eyes. The female had traveled many days to get to where she stood now; a place that felt right. Her paws itched to be cooled by water while the pads were being scraped up by the sea rocks.

The chill was unbearable, nothing to what the wolf was accustomed to. She had spent much of her time in the warm valley far off from here. To her it was obvious the lands she wandered were already run by other wolves, for which she wished to join.

Ever was young and ambitious, ready to leave the nest like a young sparrow. Few times had she been able to get a glimpse of the sea before it was swallowed by the darkness of the forest and the cover of the mountains. Now she drunk in the air selfishly and replenished her body from the long travel to the Miracles pack. All was still accept for the rush of the waves on the shore. Not a single noise from a bird. It was all new and strange to Ever. All she knew was the way of nature. Only, this was what she craved; a new start.

The she-wolf's statue position was broken as she flicked her tail and scaled the land behind her with a single glance. Nothing yet, no one here. There was only the silence to accompany her and give her the strength to stay. Ever was shy and restless for her age and as she lifted her head the sun slowly glinted in her eyes.

Welcome Big Grin if you have any questions, feel free to ask

It was high time the redhead leave his silly rooms in the Hotel and do his duty. It was the least he could do; patrolling the borders was nothing, not when he had nothing to really do after the anniversary party a couple of days prior. Besides, his legs were going get all stiff and thin if he did not stretch them and taste the fresh air outside. No wonder there were so many fat humans back in the day, if the old photographs were anything to go by. Being inside, out of the weather, was a guarantee of getting fat. Though Strel did wonder where exactly they got their food, but that was beside the point. He could not very well ask a human; they were all dead.

He did not expect to find much, since he never did find anything. Not that he actually bothered to patrol all that often. Actually, Strel did not really know if he was obligated to or not, but he figured, hey, what the hell? If there was an enemy at the borders, he would make a loud enough ruckus to get the strong people in to attack for him. Three years old and still the biggest pansy the sun ever did see.

His lazy stroll was just that, an easy walk. As the redhead was not expecting anyone, his gait was easy, hands absently touching the leaves. That was when the smell hit him. Not like a ton of bricks, mind, but as something unfamiliar and foreign. It was not familiar in any way. It did not smell of Inferni; he knew that smell. It did not smell of Crimson Dreams, or of Aniwaya, but the latter was a fading scent in his memory. Maybe it was one of the other two? Dahlia or Phoenix? Well, he knew he had to check it out. He was here. He might as well.

It was a stranger, that was obvious if the scent did not give it away. Lavender hued eyes watched the young female from a short distance. What kind of threat would she be? She was probably just another joiner. Huffing, he broke through the brush and through the distance. "Hello there, young one. You know where you stand, right?" It was odd, seeing a wolf in her lupus form, when everyone ran in their Optime more often than not here. Maybe she had not shifted yet?

Hi and thank you! Only one question so far ... how to you italicize, bold etc.?

Ever had closed her eyes by the time another wolf finally join her on the ledge. The male’s voice didn't startle her like it would have when she had traveled alone, for she had heard him coming long off. By the sound of his amble, Ever could tell he was stiff; not in shape to be a potential threat. Slowly, she opened her eye and turned her head swiftly to take in the image of the male. He smelled strangely, something strong of the sea. He seemed to be studying Ever like she was not what he expected. She returned the gaze with a pastoral expression, minding the male’s size. After a second thought to his question, she answered with a smooth voice "I've been wandering for a long time and afraid I've lost direction. My apologizes, but I'm afraid I cannot answer you." Ever shifted her white paws.

The whole journey was easy to forge from her memory. She suppressed a shutter as the bitter breeze from the ocean whistled in her ears. Suddenly, all the weariness came flooding and threatened to over whelm Ever. Her legs shook with the faux exhaustion as her eyes glazed over with terrible memories. But the warmth of the other wolf brought her to her senses. She covered up her emotions by flicking her tail and dipping her head, though it swam with confusion.

Because you are not using html as I am [we have a thread on this somewhere, I swear] you need to use BBC. I'll post some stuff under my post for you Smile

So polite for her age. That was unusual, but Strel had an uncanny ability to confuse plenty of aspects of life. His idea of young pushed a year old, where he was barely three. He eyed her, wondering what a young thing like her was doing so far from whatever place she called home. Surely, her parents had to be around here? Maybe she was lost? "Have you lost your parents?" he inquired, crouching near her, hands on his khaki covered legs. Strel could not fault her for wandering into the kingdom, not if she was lost. He himself had purposefully trespassed to join, but he did not know what the young female wanted. It did not seem like she had any parents with her, for she was not confused and desperate enough to be separated from them.

Technically, the redhead could do little more than question Ever, since he was not in a rank to do more than that. His opinion was not yet fully trusted, and the redhead was not about to push his luck. He did not want to risk bringing her to the kingdom's territory. It was best for a leader to evaluate this. Rising stiffly (it seemed any time he bent his legs, his knees grew stiff), Strel howled out, trying to reach one of those of the Court or the House. Hopefully, it would be one of the ones he knew well enough. Strel was not afraid of his King, it was just that he did not know him. But, maybe, it would be a good chance to make a good impression. Settling back to Ever, the man turned his grin on her. "Well, what do you plan to do then, now that you're on the Kingdom's borders?" Simple enough for the moment, right?

Ever looked warily at the way the male kneeled. He seemed very different from what she had seen last in her beautiful valley. Then, as he spoke she was once again hurled forward into her memories. She shook herself mentally and forced her mind to focus. Her parents ... parent? The last she thought of anyone like that was long ago. "I ..." She hesitated, looking through the male. Once she focused again he was still giving her the unsuspecting look that began to raise her anxiety. What was she doing in a place like this? Unfortunately, Ever couldn't even answer her own question. Her shoulders sagged and suddenly she felt so desolately alone. "I do not know," Ever said, her dark muzzle nearly touching the red sea rocks. The sounds of the waves came washing back into her senses. She felt like she should elaborate on her answer but it was too hard. Her mouth went dry.

The poor thing, he tittered to himself, wondering what brought her here so far out of the way of anything. Really, there was nothing here. Strel was not exactly the most gentle of people, but he was a far shot nicer than he thought he was. There was little reason for him to get angry, because the child could not answer him concisely, in the manner he wanted. Everyone was a shy, little kid once. But if she did not answer him, he could do next to nothing for her with no information. No one in their right mind would take her in instantly without something to go by. She might be young, but who knew? She could be a budding murderess.

"You're tired, but I do need to know just a bit more than that, sweetie." Strel gazed at her, lavenders eyes waiting for her to look up at him; he was trying hard to be close to eye level for her. "Do you need shelter? Are you running from something?"

This time Ever shook her fur and droplets of sea water showered the rocks. She sighed and looked the male straight in his eyes, for the first time noticing their rare color. Without out fear she dug her claws into the ground and focused on the terrible memories that clouded her pup hood. If she were to get anywhere, others needed to know where she came from and that she was not a threat. Her young bones ached as she shifted, her mind deep in thought.

"I was born into a large valley surrounded by birch trees. My pack was small and hunted together, moving as one. Pups were very uncommon, so I grew up with only 2 den mates. No one ever seemed to know their father, but mothers stayed with their pups until they were old enough to mate themselves. Winters were never a problem but spring always brought floods and summer - drought. It always seemed like the pack was striving for something. We called ourselves Static, I do not remember why ... if that matters. When I was only 5 months ..." Ever's face darkened extremely as the travel began, but this time she could not hold back. "A rare group of bears attacked and scattered our pack. Many wolves were killed while others fled the valley. It was deep into winter and the snow started as soon as my mother and I left the valley. Food was very scarce. We traveled with no sense of direction; both young. My mother seemed to always look lost. When we did find food, she never ate. She let me have it all and I could never talk her out of it. Soon she died from hunger. It was quick and terrible. That's when I realized I had no idea where I was going or where I was ..."

Ever's voice faded, replaced by the sound of the wind as it picked up. The loneliness finally overwhelmed her and she sank to the ground, shivering.

Strel listened, as he should. His knees felt stiff again, but he did not move his gaze nor his body too much. Seeming shifty was not a good idea, or so he assumed. Also looked worried did not help, so he kept his face as even as he could. But her story was pretty depressing; it was hard to keep a poker face. Nodding along where he could, he marveled that the kid managed to survive somehow without her mother to guide her. That was a feat, certainly. But the problem now was not her past or her intentions, but what he was to do and what he was to tell who of the Court or House joined him.

Ears flattening slightly, the redhead wanted to pat the child on the back, but it was unwise. That much he knew. He was a stranger and it was not appropriate. What was he supposed to do in a situation like this? There was never a "Greeting Strangers 101" seminar. "That is hard, for any age," he said, not knowing what kind of thing to say to comfort the child. She looked like she needed food on top of sleep. Maybe Alaine could help her; she was more knowledgeable on this sort of thing. Or maybe he could take her to Ayita, who had kids of her own and would know how to handle another. He was not cut out to be a father just yet. "I can't do much for you right now, sweetie, but if you can hang on for a little bit, someone much more important than me will show up to figure this out."

"Thank you for your kindness," Ever said politely, struggling to keep her voice steady. The feelings were already starting to melt away. She wasn't used to this hospitality after so many cold days alone. Ever sat there awkwardly, unsure of what to do so she stood, not minding the mud on her belly fur. All she craved now was the feeling of hunting. She had learned little from her mom, but enough to track and catch a small rodent. Ever could almost feel the rabbit in her jaws, though it was blurry. She hadn't tasted anything but berries and grass for miles.

It had been exactly one entire month since he had taken over the reigns of the pack, and thus far, everything seemed to be moving just as smoothly as before. Once again, the pack was growing; Vigilante was glad for this. The Miracles pack had only recently celebrated its first anniversary, and he was positive that there would be many more to come. The dog mutt of a King had taken up his border patrols again that day, and two scents caught his attention. One he did not recognize, and the other he did. It was not uncommon for pack members to escort friends around the pack's territory, but there was no harm in him going to see what was going on.

The large secui male approached the pair, taking in the sight of the small and seemingly haggard female. She looked to be very young, though of course he could not place her actual age. "Hello, Strelein," he said with a small nod. Vigilante held himself calmly, his position friendly. "Hi there," he said to the small female. "I'm Vigilante, but you can call me Vigi if you want." The younger ones seemed to prefer it. Emerald gaze glanced back up at Strelein, hoping the male would fill him in a bit about the young female and her situation.

A warm breeze blew by and ruffled the muddy hair upon Ever's head. She stood awkwardly before the male, knowing that he was now aware of her dark travel. Suddenly, a much larger wolf stepped out of the bushes. Ever started, realizing she had not scented him. He looked her over quickly before greeting the male known as Strelein and gave him a look of expectancy. Then he seemed to once again turn his focus to her.

He spoke softly but carried himself with power and dignity. This must be the leader. Ever though warily before dipping her head. "I am Ever," She said, surprised by her own steadiness which gave her new confidence. Feeling like she should elaborate more on the situation she added more quietly "I have been traveling for an awfully long time and hope to find a place to settle." Ever once again glanced at Strelein nervously

The King arrived, not in the grandeur that the redhead would have expected of the prior King of the Miracles. But, there was little reason to complain, so long as the pack was up and running smoothly and corruption stayed out. Strel nodded to Vigilante, letting him take over a bit. This was his forte after all, not the Baron's. The girl introduced herself, sending him a sidelong glance. Strel sighed, twisting his body to face the other man. "I found her here. She seems weak and malnourished. I don't know if it's because of her travels or something else." But he figured she had traveled a fair amount on little food. Her endurance was surprising. Most young ones would die."I figured I would defer to the wisdom of my more advanced peers, since I'm not so high on our lovely food chain."

A look of concern crossed his features, lavender eyes evaluating the King's reaction. "What are you going to do, m'lord," he questioned, adding the flair he would have given to Jacquez. They were both Kings (well, one was an ex-King) and the redhead thought the same treatment be required, above the respect they deserved of course. If Ever were accepted here, who would house her? Who would take her in? That was what worried the redhead the most now.

Ever sighed inwardly as Strelein clearly spoke of what she looked. She had already lost her pup fluff and her comfort feathers had all been washed away by months of traveling through the rain. Wincing as a jolt of pain chilled her heart, she listend closely to hear the kings answer of what he would do with her. She had constantly considered what would happen if she was not accepted. All the was to look forward to then was more days of traveling. Still, Ever remained silent.

300+ words.

Vigilante took in the dishevelled sight of the young girl, nodding as Strelein explained. "Hello, Ever," he said, offering the young girl a smile before he glanced at Strelein once more, the concern evident in the redhead's voice. The secui male thought that she was only a bit older than Amaranth, if he had to guess. Technically, she was an adult in the pack, but she seemed like she would be in need of some nurture before she was ready to take care of herself. The King would not turn her out to take care of herself, as it was obvious she was in need of care. The pack was not lacking in members, and he was sure that many would be willing to take her in, but they were not there. Strelein had not volunteered immediately, which made Vigilante question whether or not the Baron would want to take in the girl. The answer was probably a no, in that case.

"Are you tired? Hungry?" he asked the young girl, jade eyes watching for any sign that she might be hurt or sick. She did not appear to be, but it was always possible that she was hiding the signs. Quickly, he made a decision. "If you would like, you could stay with me and my mate until you're ready to be out on your own. We have a daughter, a bit younger than you. Whenever you feel ready, you could move into a home of your own," he added, not wanting her to feel pressured. He doubted Ayita would mind the girl staying with them. The King did not think that it would be for very long, at any rate, though the girl would certainly be welcome to stay in the small seagreen home for as long as she felt necessary.

Pride swelled through the females tiny body like fire. Now, she held her head a little higher. She was once again part of a pack and she could have someone who could whatch out for her. Ever reminded herself that she couldn't relax so soon. "Thank you very much, I would love that." She replied, minding her fatigue and desire for food.

Strel is out now :U

Strel was not a father figure, in the least. He was not ready for kids or to take care of them, old as he was. There was a commitment required for them that he did not have just yet, and this girl was just that, a kid, and he could not be held responsible for another life. Strel was could not protect a child if anything happened. So, he was very glad that the King offered to take the girl. He felt ashamed that he did not step up and offer himself as a host, but he hoped it would not besmirch his image in the King's eyes.

The redhead sent Vigilante a thankful glance, as well as an apologetic one. "M'lord, I should go, since I'm in the middle of a patrol." Lavender eyes went to the child, who seemed beyond exhausted. "I wish I could help more with the young one, but I fear I am ill equipped for such a job." He rubbed at the back of his neck, watching Vigilante. "But since I did find her, I'm up for helping you out with her, if the need arises." His gaze shifted to Ever once more, as he leaned over to be on a closer level to her. "Welcome to Cour des Miracles, Ever." Strel moved to return to his previous path and away from the King and the new member.

You can post again or we can end here, fade to black either way and say he brought her back to his house? =3 Welcome to the pack! WotD: Fathom.

Vigilante did not mind that Strelein had not volunteered to take in the young girl. He knew that Ayita would not mind, and he felt that it was his duty as the King to make sure all of the pack's members were safe. It seemed logical that it would mean taking in anyone that needed care until they were ready to move out on their own. He could not fathom why someone would turn away someone so young, but she had gotten here somehow. The King would not allow her to feel unwanted in their pack, and he would do his best to ensure that.

"It was goos to see you again, Strelein," he said as the man left. Then, he smiled warmly at Ever. "Let's go back to my house now, and we can get you settled in. You can meet my mate, Ayita, and her daughter, Amaranth. She's only a little bit younger than you, and I'm sure you'll like them both." He waited until she was ready to go before leading the way to the house in Lunenburg, keeping his pace slower so that she could keep up easily.

Ever watched nervously as the male she had felt so safe with turned his back on her. She face Vigilante wearily and nodded slowly, keeping pace with the King. The grey female looking around her as the rocky border line disappeared and thickened into a forest. She familiarized herself with territory as much as she could, feeling superior with the King flanked by her side. As the two ventured deeper into the land Ever felt as if she was finally where she should be again. She sighed; her cream chest rising and falling. This was the feeling she had always longed for again.

The young female looked up at the sky as the first raindrops began to fall again. They were warm and soon began to soak Ever's fur. She shook violently, water spewing from her gray and black coat. The female looked up after she had shook to find herself slightly behind. She burst back to Vigilante's side and continued walking.
