A coming of age celebration!

The pups were so lucky to be back together again...to have each other and be able to be a real family. He was a bit sad that Drey had chosen to move on and stay with the rest of the family, but was very very happy to have gotten Shiloh back. They hadn't been around each other much during their puppy-hood, but now they had more than enough time to make up for it.

Gideon had been preparing for the party for days, remembering that they would be coming of age soon, and had quite a stockpile of meat and other goodies prepared. He had even managed to procure some alcohol for them, though he wasn't sure if he would like it or if he would drink any of it at all. He had set things up on a long table outside of the house, a big fire going in a stone circle a ways away.

He fed a little more fuel into the fire, then stood back to admire it. He wondered what other pack members would come to celebrate with them this chilly evening. Bris had just given birth and he did not expect her or Conor to want to leave the house. He wasn't sure what Nayru or anyone else was doing, either. It was cold, but they could go back inside afterward if they wanted to and continue the celebration. Gideon was built for the cold with his dark fur and full frame; he had fat to protect him from the harsh chill.

Turquoise eyes reflected the flames of the fire as he put his hands up to warm them, smiling. Today he and his siblings would become full adults in the pack and would be able to begin to really contribute to it. Time to celebrate!

W00t w00t! Partay! +3

Shiloh had no idea that walking on two legs was going to be so beneficial. Not only was she able to travel distances and get there fast, or that she actually had thumbs and could make herself useful doing just about anything. No, what was most important was that she got less dirty by walking in her Optime form. Shi swore, as she walked around Dahlia that cool evening with a coat she had borrowed, she would probably never return to her four-legged form again.

Her sparkling blue eyes caught sight of a light up ahead, and she decided to walk towards it. The young female hadn't done much that day, though it was time to celebrate, for she and her siblings were now considered adults. Shiloh smiled and moved a loose strand of cream-colored hair away from her forehead, also checking that she still had the lily tucked behind her other ear. It was a gift to herself, mostly, as she had come upon it earlier that day. The Dawnrunner female never did stop to think that flowers could be used for personal decoration, but it was classy, and when she did stop to look at her reflection in a nearby pool (possibly formed with all the ice that built up, and areas that melted in the daytime), it was a great choice on her part.

As she neared her destination, Shi's eyes settled on the crackling fire before her. And then to the male who had his back turned to her, his paws being warmed by the logs that burned. He didn't need to turn around for her to recognize who it was, and a grin became plastered on her face. "Didn't father ever tell you that pups shouldn't get so close to the fire?" She said into the cool night air, her voice laced with humor at the joke. They weren't even full adults for a day, and truthfully the white female didn't really feel any different.

He was officially nine months old and if he were to be honest with himself he didnt feel any different. He didnt think he was any taller or wiser or more mature than he had been the day before. He did, however, think that he had progressed a lot since turning up on Dahlia's borders, emaciated and exhausted. He was bigger than he had ever been, his early morning runs making sure that it was pure muscles that had bulked him out. He was certainly much wiser than before- he had made it his personal plight to learn as much as he could. He had learnt to hunt properly, he'd found a teacher to teach him fighting skills, althought he hoped he never had to use them. Skye had taught him the basics at reading and even without her help he was progressing. He'd met Liliana a while ago and she'd taught him a little about riding a horse. And Shawchert had taught him to shape wood with a knife into retty things. He really was making something of himself.

He had spent most of his day scouting out areas to the north of Wolfville, close to Oberon's Spring. It had come to the males attention that, with Eclipse being born and Melee and Range wanting their own rooms it had become crowded in the victorian house. He imagined that Gideon was considering moving out as well but he hadnt spoken to his brother properly in a while. But he didnt want to move out and he had decided that he'd build his own cabin nearer the spring. Today had been a clearing mission and Saul had successfully cleared a large space of all grass and other debris that would get in his way. He didnt know the first thing about building a house but he was going to learn, that was for sure.

Tired body moved through the highstreet of Wolfville. He was in his optime form again and despite the young mans original distaste for the form he was beginning to see certain advantages. Clearing the way for his cabin today would have been disasterous in lupus form. Green eyes caught a light ahead and a confused expression caught him. It looked like a fire. For a moment a flash of worry crossed him before the scene came into focus. Two figures outlined by a small fire. One dark and one light. He smiled as he approached his brother and sister, taking in the banquet Gideon had prepared.

"You put my picnic to shame Gideon!"

He said with a soft smile. A kiss was given to his sister cheek, a soft lift to the creamy fur. He noticed the lily in his sisters hair and nodded towards it. Casting his eyes around the small feast he gave a low whistle and looked around. They were the only ones there it appeared, not even Melee and Range were with their father yet.

Much sorry for my lack of presence 'round these parts - time and circumstance are not my friends lately. I will make it up when I can; in the meantime I have to assume Ascher has reunited with Shiloh despite my deplorable inability to make that happen. ._.' 549 words

Ascher yawned mightily. The days of winter had been mingling together for a little while now, and coupled with the fact that he had just completed an exploration of the old stone city to the south - someone, sometime had said its name was Halifax - which had occupied yesterday afternoon and this morning. Having spent his time alone had not been altogether uncomfortable for the wolf, but he had missed his family dearly. Still, the old city had enlivened Ascher's curiosity as to what he could learn from it all, and perhaps another visit soon would start revealing more. He would ask around if anyone wanted to accompany him, too.

Padding along in his original form, Ascher smelled woodsmoke nearby. Someone must have something festive being planned for the evening, and Ascher felt sociable despite his weariness. He looked at himself - a little disheveled, but otherwise nothing was dirty or out of place on him. All that remained was to assume his more adult posture and stroll through Wolfville until he found the source of the hopefully comforting fire. Ascher was glad that his shifting between forms was hastening with each effort. His body easily adapted to the two legged walk now and he could not be more comfortable as a biped.

Oddly enough, each step towards Conor's and Bris's house - and Eclipse now, too Ascher thought with a smile - hinted that someone there was putting on the show. Ascher tilted his head in thought as he considered who would be going through that kind of effort right now. He sighed softly as his considerations drew up many wolves that had reason to be happy. Closing the last distance that prevented the Stormbringer from seeing his home, Ascher was not surprised to see his siblings gathered around a fire while a feast seemed to gather around them. He barked both a laugh and a greeting as he ran the gap between him and his loved ones. Ascher followed his greeting with more, ”Hey everyone! I missed you all yesterday, and it's so good to see you here tonight. What's the occasion?”

Ascher looked to each of his siblings in turn, noting how mature Gideon seemed, with the firelight reflecting off of his dark pelt and his blue eyes. A fire this warm and inviting had to be his doing, and Ascher was doubly grateful for the heat in contrast to the rest of the night. Saul looked his normal, tired self, yet there was a contented happiness holding him up more firmly right now. He had every right to be so happy - so far as Ascher thought, there was no one as adventurous and active as his brother. Which only served to highlight Shiloh. Her pristine pelt was most accentuated by the coat she had procured from wherever she had found it. To that his sister had added a lily in her ear, and she wore everything as proudly as if she owned all the world and had merely invited everyone else to share in her good fortunes. Ascher loved that in his sister - how she had been missed.

"I trust everyone has had a great day, right?" Ascher smiled his broadest smile - he could not help but be ecstatic right now.

Hey, man, we all have times like that Big Grin Finals was eating me alive, but I managed to get through it hehehe ^^ I'm just glad you're here!! :]]

He gave a large grin as his sister approached, reaching toward her for a hug if she would give it. "I dunno. I wasn't around dad for too long...just long enough for him to give me a dagger. I gave it to Saul, though, thought he'd appreciate it better." Today he had a few gifts as well, but they were inside the house. He would have to award them to his siblings a little bit later, as the night wore on. He hoped that they would like them; Saul would probably recognize Shiloh's present, as he'd picked it out from the treasure chest that they had found on the beach. He'd been to the city for some of the other things.

Saul was next to arrive and he nodded to him, holding his hands toward the fire to continue to warm them. It sure was freezing out! He was reminded of he, Saul, and Ascher's day at the beach when Saul spoke, and he laughed. "I tried to get enough for the four of us and anyone else who chose to join us." Even as he spoke his stomach rumbled, but he tried to cover the sound up with a cough. He wanted to wait for Ascher to come before they started to eat or anything.

As soon as the thought left his head their other brother appeared. He smiled and explained. "It's our coming-of-age today, and Shiloh and I had talked about planning something for it. A dinner or something. I have a few presents for you all once we're done eating, too" He said. Now that Ascher was here he headed for the table, picking up a few pieces of meat, one in each hand. "I'm SO HUNGRY!!"

500+. Wheeeee.

Shi gracefully returned Gideon's embrace, and it seemed like he finally took her advice and washed up, by the smell of it. As he pulled away, the young female smiled sincerely, before fixing her hair and re-adjusting the lily behind her ear. It wasn't long before Shiloh's other siblings followed suit, as Saul approached she smiled wide, returning a nuzzle to his affection. Her eyes sparkled, without much need of the firelight, overjoyed that she was reunited with her family again, and they were all celebrating together. The only one who was missing was--

"”Hey everyone!" The greeting rang with familiarity in Shiloh's perfect ears. Turning her head in the direction, she squealed as she saw the last remaining brother return. "Asch!" She said somewhat louder than intended, but she was more than a bit beside herself with glee. She strode up to him (for running was just unlady-like), and wrapped her arms around him in a hug. How he had grown, too! They had all done some growing up, but all of her brothers were significantly taller than she. Not that she minded, really, but on the other hand Shi got the purest and cleaner pelt out of the whole deal.

Saul mentioned about food earlier, and only then did it make Shi realize that she was hungry too. Her eyes grazed over the scene that Gideon has set up for the celebration, as she moved to sit on a tree stump by the fire. She had to say that she was impressed, but of course she wouldn't tell him that. Her hands dusted off any loose remnants of the forest on her pelt, fluffing herself up to at least look presentable for the occasion. "I tried to get enough for the four of us and anyone else who chose to join us." Shiloh giggled softly into the smoky, cool night air, looking at each of her brothers in turn. "There's only enough there for you three big carnivores," she said jokingly. Shiloh distinctly remembered her brothers' eating habits, which were anything but cleanly. She wondered for a moment if that was something they had changed, now that they were adults.

Shi let her giggles subside and turned to Gideon, who spoke to all of them at once. She smiled when Giddy mentioned her in the planning, but when he mentioned gifts, her eyebrows quirked. The young white female never knew about this, nor had she brought any gifts for her siblings. Well, no matter.. their sister had returned, and that seemed to be as good a gift as any.

Shi ran her fingers through her creamy locks again, looking up to see her brother across her with large amounts of food in his claws. She smiled again, and looked to the other two, re-affirming what she had said before. Getting up herself, she gingerly picked off bits of meat, and picked up a stick on the ground (and thoroughly cleaning it) to skewer them. As she sat back down on her stump, she settled the meat stick over the fire. Old habits never change.

"Who else will be joining us?" She said as her blue eyes settled on Gideon, hoping for a brief moment that she would be able to see her aunt there. Much to Shiloh's surprise, she was told that Bris was bursting at the furry seams with pups before she arrived, and had given birth to them before Shiloh had graced the pack with her presence.

The heat of the fire hit him in the face and Saul was rebuffed for a moment. It was a pleasent heat once he got over the initial intensity and once his fur had warmed to the right temperature he stepped forward to hold his hands out into the heat, certain he wasnt going to burn. Gideon seemed to have a knack of creating good healthy fires and this one did not disappoint. Saul smiled as his sister nuzzled him back after his short kiss on her cheek. He was glad to have his sister back, even if her unnatural obsession with being clean reminding him forcefully of his morning routine. It appeared the Stormbringers may have developed obsessive personalities- at least in his and his sisters case. Cinnamon ears flicked back as Gideon addressed his earlier comment and Saul grinned at him.

"You must have been hunting for weeks to get this together... Well done!"

The eldest Stormbringer praised, a smile on his face. He was proud of his brothers and sister and it could not be more obvious as right now. They had had a traumatic start in life- Gideon getting semi-mauled by their grandmother and their own mother being murdered on the same occasion. They had been separated and split each way and yet they had still managed to return and find each other. And what was more- none of them were messed in the head or inherently evil, despite their rocky start to life. And for that the young male was proud. Thoughts were distracted another voice came to him. Head whipped around to see Ascher coming towards them. Both his brother and sister spoke before him and Saul was happy to stay silent for a moment.

"Its nice to see you Asch"

Saul interjected quietly when Gideon and Shiloh had calmed down. Green eyes watched as Gideon picked up a few lumps of raw meat. He was about to take them from his brother and skewer them when Shiloh picked up a stick and did it instead. He was feeling just a little inadequate at this point but he kept the smile on his lips. He was thinking hard about the presents Gideon said he had for them. If he had practised more of the wood carving Shawchert had taught him, he would perhaps of made his siblings a present too. But he wasnt skilled enough and didnt want to give them unfinished presents.

"I would have presents for you all, if I was any good at making them! Im getting there, so bear with me!"

He said, once again quiet and calm. He was the eldest yet his brothers and sisters seemed to be growing up all around him. He was meant to take care of them, not the other way round. Saul hadnt quite figured out that it wasnt his job to molly coddle them anymore- he was still under the impression that he had to be there all the time for them. Maybe he would get it one day, but right now he was feeling a little lost. Ascher asked what they had been up to that day and Saul had an answer for this one.

"I was out near the spring, clearing an area where I hope to build a cabin soon. Home is beginning to feel a little crowded for me... What about you? I havent seen you about lately!"

He asked with a glance back towards the cooking meat. He wondered who else was actually going to turn up, but pushed it from his mind. It didnt matter who turned up, in all honesty. He was here with his family and that was all that mattered.

It felt good to have the friendly conversations amongst family once again, and Ascher could not help but smile broadly as Shiloh embraced him. It felt like it had been forever since she had been in his life, and there was no way that Ascher was going to let her disappear again. He smirked at her food assertion; she could have been right if Gideon had not been preparing for what seemed weeks for this special occasion. Ascher knew he was starving, and so were his brothers, but Shiloh at least was eating first, and truth be told, Ascher would not have eaten before she did. It was just proper manners. And whenever his sister was around, Ascher made sure his manners were better than other times.

Ascher had also hoped that others would have joined them this evening, but since it was really a coming of age celebration for the four of them, it really did not matter if more wolves joined in. It would still be nice to include others in the festivities, however. The dark cinnamon male returned to the event at hand and resumed his participation in the goings-on. To Saul's statement, Ascher could not hide his interest in the slightest, ”You're building a house? Wow, that's amazing! If you need any help with it, I'll do whatever I can. Oh, I went to Halifax yesterday morning and just got back. I had heard that there were things there like the herbs around here. I was interested in finding them.” Then Ascher had to dig at whatever his big brother had planned this evening. He skewered a few pieces of meat kindly cut already and began roasting them near Gideon. The taste of fire on food made it worth savoring, and Ascher was going to put his gnawing hunger in check just long enough to cook his food to that flavorful level. In the meantime, the young Stormbringer prodded his brother with questions, ”Thanks so much for the food, brother; you're awesome. ... ... So what did you have planned, eh, Giddie? Where are you hiding the gifts? I bet we're all wondering that, right Shiloh? Would you like to know what Gideon was thoughtful enough to get us all? I bet I'll treasure it until the day I die, because Gideon is an amazing brother like that." Ascher was grinning ear to ear in both amusement and anticipation. His food beckoned him to stop pestering his brother and the wolf started nibbling on the hot meat that had started to drip juices and begged to be eaten.

Yummm! Happy new years as well, guys :]] wc: 660

He was glad to have his siblings around for this celebration. He seemed to spend a lot of time chasing around Saul or hanging out with Ascher or Shiloh these days, trying to make up for lost time. He probably seemed like a lost little puppy with the way that he tried to follow them around some days; he had missed them all dearly and was so surprised that he had managed to get all of them back here with him. He felt a little bad for their father, as he couldn't spend time with his children with them all back in Dahlia de Mai...but Drey would know where they were. Hopefully he would visit them! Maybe he'd even bring back more family for them in the future, more relatives that were seeking a new life.

"I'm not sure...I don't know if anyone else is around. I think Bris is pretty tired, and I think Conor's with her" He said to his sister, nodding. "At least we have each other though, huh" Gideon put one piece of meat straight into his mouth and began to chew, talking at the same time. "Maybe Dad'll come back someday and bring some other new family member back with him. With the four of us and Bris and the new little one, we're already a huge powerhouse...imagine if there was more of us! Ahaha! Stormbringers to rule the world!" He laughed a bit, spearing the other piece of meat onto a stick like Shiloh had done and sticking it over the fire.

His siblings seemed excited about the prospect of gifts and it made him excited about it as well. He hoped they'd like them! He'd gotten or made them each something that he thought they would like, but who knew. Ascher's had been hand-made by Gideon himself after months of staring at the huge nets that he had been using to fish off the coast. His brother wouldn't go hungry even in the dead of winter with the net and fishing rod that Gideon had fashioned out of a reed from the river when it had been a little warmer out. He'd offer some fishing lessons as well if Ascher wanted them. For Saul he had chosen something that he'd found in the city a good while back, a magnifying glass for looking at little things up close.

He was a little sad to hear that Saul was thinking about moving out of the big house that they all shared, but agreed with the fact that it was getting a little crowded. He had thought about moving out a month or so before with Melee and Range, but hadn't wanted to force the pups to move away from the house that they had grown up in. Maybe when they were a bit older and more able to adjust to the changes he would head out east to the area that Nayru lived in. He wasn't stalking her, just wanted to live nearby so that he could see her more often. He felt like he never saw her enough these days. Plus the eastern border could use a little extra protection.

"Me too. Maybe the three of us could work on it together?" He asked Ascher. He wanted to be of some use, and he had a little bit of spare time on his hands. It'd take a while to get all the wood together for it, especially. He wondered if Shiloh would volunteer to help them too, but wasn't sure if she'd want to get her hands dirty with it. "I want to move out to the eastern side of the territory sometime in the future...be somewhere near Nayru. And thanks, Ascher! I dunno if I'm all that great, though...haha. The presents are inside. Do you guys want them now? I can go get them!" He pulled his meat from the fire, testing it with his fingers before popping it into his mouth.

600 words even! ;D

The haul that Gideon brought in for the feast was impressive, but Shiloh still smiled to herself when she could only imagine about how much her brothers consumed now. They were all adults, and growing boys that turned to men.. well.. they ate a lot more. Shiloh was glad to see that Gideon, who sat across from her at the fire, still had some manners to eating, and even copied her movement of skewering her meat and cooking it. Sure, they were wolves, but there was no need to be savage about things when you had thumbs and two legs. Secretly, though, she was sure all of her brothers had silently agreed to be on their best behavior when their sister, the princess, was around. Still, she loved their adventurous spirit, or even when they rolled in the mud... as long as she was clean and out of the way. Them preventing her from getting dirty made her love them all the more.

'I think Bris is pretty tired, and I think Conor's with her,' her cream-colored ears heard her brother say. That's right, how could she have forgotten about Bris giving birth? They all lived in the same house together, but Shi felt the house was too crowded indeed, and so she gave her aunt and Conor space. Though she was wanting to see her aunt since her return, Shiloh knew that her puppies were of the utmost importance, and plus Bris needed all that recovery time from being uber pregnant. Shiloh wasn't sure how her aunt did it, or any female for that matter... and plus, all that.. gross stuff that came with birth. The young damsel shivered, not wanting to even think about it now. It would be some time before she'd decide about being motherly.

The Dawnbringer female listened to her other brothers mention moving out, or building houses. Her cerulean eyes widened a bit, another realization of them growing up and moving apart. The cream and white colored female didn't want to see them leave, not yet anyways. She'd deal with the crowded house if it meant that she could spend time with her family once again.. they had months to make up, but they all had their own lives to begin building. A small smile crossed her perfectly-white face, the fire glowing against her snow-colored fur. "I'll help only because it's for my dear brother," she said sweetly, then added: "I won't get any splinters, will I?" Shiloh was being sincere, and perhaps her brothers thought it funny that if anything was to endanger her cleanliness, no matter who it was, she probably would watch some the sidelines.

Her own food was nice and cooked by now, and she gingerly stuck the skewered meat into her mouth. It was far less messy to do it in that manner than to get the black, charred remains on her delicate fingers. She chewed silently, more engrossed in her thoughts than anything, looking at each of her brothers in turn with blue eyes that sparkled in the firelight. Then she heard Gideon mention a name, one she wasn't familiar with, and one ear flicked in his directions, her cream-colored locks swaying on her head with the movement. "Who is Nayru, Giddy?" A small, somewhat-knowing smile crossed her features, looking at him teasingly. He quickly jumped onto the subject of gifts, though, and wondered if her question would ever be answered about this person. "You know, I don't think you've ever stopped eating to do something else, dear brother. Maybe you've all changed more than I had thought."

ooc;; I realise i suck like... sooo bad right now! I am so sorry for holding this up! <333

His heart felt warm as he looked round at his siblings. He had always maintained the thought that he would go and look for Shiloh once he was settled, but he never seemed to have settled. So when she had turned up at the borders with the scent of their father faint on her fur and the scent of coyote a little bit strong, Saul had been puzzled. But she was back and she was safe and really, that was all that mattered to the boy. Green eyes watched his hunk of meat slowly dripping into its own juices and his stomach worked hard at a long and hearty growl. A chuckle escaped the young boy as he looked at his brothers and sister. They appeared to be getting along great- but then again, after all they'd been through why would they fight. Cinnamon backed ears were distracted by Ascher's enthusiastic response to his mention of building a house.

"I'd love your help Asch. I'll give you a call. And both of your help would be good as well."

Saul added on the end as his contrasting siblings piped up that they would like to help. Saul offered his little sister a chuckle as she fretted about getting a splinter, but he wondered how serious she actually was. Saul hadn's missed his youngest brothers remark about his trip to Halifax and he made a mental note to question his little brother about it later. But Gideon was speaking once again and Saul gave a soft chortle at his comments about more Stormbringers around the area. There was already the four siblings, plus their aunt and their new cousin. How many more could they get in this pack? Of course, it was big enough for all of them but how many of them would get in before inbreeding started? A shudder ran through his spine as he thought on that for a moment before choosing to answer the dark boy.

"How many of us do you reckon there are? And how many do you think Conor would accept into Dahlia?"

Saul laughed before moving to take his meat from the stick. It was hot and he had to pass it from hand to hand for a moment before it was just cool enough to handle with one and eat with the other. It was soft as butter and had just enough blood remaining to be classed as food to the wild animal. Saul sank back on his haunches, listening to Ascher ask about their gifts and Gideon speak about moving out to the east. Nayru lived out there, as Gideon mentioned. Saul wondered how long it would be before the two of them officially got together- they were already halfway betrothed anyway, they might as well make it official. Soon he might have actual niece's and nephews running about them place. Of course, Melee and Range were his niece and nephew, but there would always be a bit of them that wasn't Stormbringer. He chuckle softly to himself as Shiloh asked about Nayru.

"Getting jealous there Shi?"

Saul murmered from his backseat pass in this family gathering. Shiloh spoke again, directing her words towards thier gorging brother. Of course, Saul had had a picnic with his brothers before and knew what a pig the black boy could be. He laugh and threw a bit of raw meat at Gideon's head, hoping it would hit him before the boy caught it. Of course, Shi would be mad if there turned out to be a food fight so Saul ducked his head with a demure smile and held his hands wide to show he had no more food. Lets be civilised here, for once.
