The female sat out past the borders of the pack though not too far away from Anathema to feel uncomfortable. In fact, just a glance over her shoulder and she could spot the area where the borders started through the trees. If something happened then at least she was nearby to home which meant help was nearby should it be needed. That was enough of a reassurance for now. It was a short crawl away for back up. Or even just a howl should be enough to attract attention. These were the things that she used to continue to remind herself in order to offer herself some sort of small bit of comfort.

Still she had to leave behind the pack simply because the borders smelled too much like predatory canines. If she was going to try out the lessons that Nani has been teaching her then she didn't want to sit somewhere where the smaller animals wouldn't be quite as afraid to approach. At least that had been her thought process. She hoped that she could get at least one to come over and talk to her. She wanted to show Nani that she was using the lessons and applying them.

She called out what she thought was a universal call of greeting and welcoming to any of the lesser creatures in the area. After she made the call she sat and waited. It took long moment and it didn't seem as if anything was coming. That was at least until a dark furred creature stuck it's head up from a hole and wandered over. The mink came within a close distance and sniffed around the area where Selene was sitting. The female smiled as she spotted the curious creature and called out to greet it. "Well hello there." She called out the words to the creature that almost blended in with the approaching night as dusk had settled on the world to make it darker out as the light of day faded away.

Itzal had not meant to spy. It was actually kind of funny how often the coywolf never meant to use his stealth to spy, but ended up doing just that. He had been wondering, when he had caught the scent. He knew that he was close to the Anathema's borders, but it was not against the rules to be near them. And the scent he had picked up was not in their borders, but out of them instead. He had followed it until he saw a single canine, a wolf by the look and smell of it, female as well, was there. He was in Lupus form, as was natural for him when he had just come from hunting. He had shifted from secui to lupus easily. Now he sat in the shadow of a nearby tree. His fur and coloring making him almost appear as if he was not there. It would take a good trained eye to catch him. Few ever had. Even few lived to tell of it. Not that he would ever harm this wolf for no reason. Plus, with night setting in, he would have the cover of night to add. As he watched, the wolf called something out, almost inaudible to his ears, he could not make it out easily.

Then she sat. And waited, for a long moment nothing happened. Then a creature appeared and walked towards her. She said something to it that this time he could not under stand at all. He was rather interested in this wolf, and thought he would stay and watch. He might reveal himself when he thought it was safe and he would not startle her to much. But for now he sat and watched. One of his best skills. Like a hunter for his prey. Only he was not hunting for her meat, he was more interested in her knowledge of communicating with these animals. It intriguid him. Very much so.

Sele had no idea that she was being watched. If she did then she would have felt more wary and unsettled than she was. But for now she was perfectly content. She knew that home was just a short distance away. That if she ended up needing help then it could get there rather quickly. That all she had to do was to send up a quick howl and someone would hear her and come directly to her aide. Not that it made her feel good to always have to depend on others. Actually, she felt rather useless because of that. And such was why she was busy trying to practice what it was that she had been taught.

She reached a hand over to the mink that had made itself known to her in order to let the creature sniff it. "I'm not going to hurt you. I only want to talk." She spoke to the animal, sticking to low speech in order to communicate with the other. "I am trying to learn your language so that we can speak freely." She added on so that the mammal would understand why it had been called for. Why Selene was sitting out when it was approaching dark and calling for whoever might be around. She wasn't very talented with the language yet but she was learning. She had committed what she had been taught to memory and was trying it out now.

The mink came over to sniff at her hand before chattering animatedly. The words that were spoken had Selene laughing and shaking her head. "Slower please? I only know a few phrases right now." The tilted its head almost as if the animal couldn't seem to understand what was being said. This cause the female to frown and think over her limited knowledge before trying again. "Know a little bit not a lot." This phrasing seemed to work better as the mink had righted its head and when it spoke next it didn't seemed to speak as fast.

Itzal thought that this white wolf was very determined to talk with this mink. She was not paying attention to her suroundings much. And she seemed like she was very shy. He did not know what made him think the shy part. But he just did. He watched as the Mink moved towards her and she talked to it more. Was she actually understanding it? Is it actually understanding her? He was amazed by this exchange. How were they communicating so clearly? Is this why other canines sometimes he pets? Because they could understand what they were saying. He wondered what it would be like to talk with what he considered to be prey. He laughed at himself inside his head. He enjoyed the hunt to much to worry about that. Though he might consider it if he knew how to talk to them. However he did not know how, so he just stuck to killing and eating them. Speaking of which, he was somewhat hungry. He would have to hunt soon, but he was interested in this conversation. And this female. What were her reasons for praticing prey talk out here? He would no be satisfied until he found out. So he figured he would stick around and see what he could learn. It was not like he had anything better to do, seeing as how he could hunt at anytime.

The female still appeared to be unaware of him. Which was fine by him. She might freak out and call her pack if she found out he was watching, which he would not like. Besides, he meant her no harm, he was just interested in what she was doing out here. And so far, It looked like she was content with the illusion of being alone. He sank back into the shadows some more, making sure his goldish yellow eyes did not catch any light and reflect it. They were sometimes a dead give away. But he still loved them. His eyes were deep, like a bath of gold, and gave the illusion of a full moon look. His fur was pure black, to the point where you could barely tell him apart from the shadows if you were staring straight at him when you knew he was there. In the light he stood out more, but he had never claimed to be a creature of the day time. He smiled to himself cause he knew one of the greatest skills he had was being unseen. It was useful if you asked him.

He watched as the girl seemed to have a hard time talking to the animal. So maybe that was it. Maybe she was out here praticing. It seemed like a good theory. But the girl seemed like she knew what she was doing, so maybe this was not her first time praticing. Or maybe she was just naturally good at this laungage or skill for speaking with prey. Either way, he settlled back and watcher her closely. He would approach her when he felt the time was right. He had some question he wanted to ask her. However, for now he just had to sit back and learn as much as he could from watching.

She didn't think to worry about her surroundings since she was still near her pack. Who would be foolish enough to mess with someone when the borders of a pack could be smelled nearby. That would be like suicide in her mind. It would be silly to even try that. So no, she didn't think to worry at all. After all everyone was just a call away. And even more than that, the pack was her family. Those that weren't D'Angelo by birth were made D'Angelo's through a blood sharing ceremony. So in one form or another she lived in a pack that consisted only of family. How many others could say that as well? That they lived with no one but family. She had no idea of any other pack that did that. She knew of nowhere else where the part of being family was put first. Rather than just being separate wolves that lived in the same area they made sure that they were all family. And family stuck together through everything. It brought them closer than all those other in the other packs. They were all blood. And unlike with the others once you are blood you are allowed t return should you ever lose your way without having to be interviewed all over again. Because that is just what family did. They welcomed you back with open arms. And that is what made them different from all of the other packs in the area.

It seemed that the mink was a rather chatty little one. Which certainly worked for Sele's practice session. She needed one that was willing to talk if she was going to learn to communicate. She listened as it spoke up and questioned her. It asked about where she lived and she pointed in the direction of the borders that were behind her. "Back that way. Just settled here not long ago. We call it Anathema." She gave the creature the information that it was looking for and more. But apparently not enough since it still wanted to know more about the pack and why the canines couldn't be seen. "We live underground. We stay in caves beneath the ground." This answer seemed to work well enough for the mink nodded it's head agreeably. It even mentioned that it liked to sleep underground because it was warmer in the winter and protected from the snow. And that was something that Sele would have to agree with. While she was down in the caves she had never once worried about the weather outside. When she was inside she had never wondered what it was like outside. But then again she preferred staying inside rather than going out anyways.

The mink got closer as it grew comfortable and Sele reached out to pet the animal. For a moment she considered inviting it back for Nani to meet. Or the least she can do is let her sister know about this particular mink. Then Nani could let everyone else know not to hunt it since it had quickly become a practice buddy and maybe later even an informant. And when it warmed up and the fowl came back into the area she could try talking to them. After all her sister had suggested speaking to them about their missing brother. With their ability to fly they could cover more ground than the canines could. And with most being migratory then they could have possibly already spotted him along their flight paths. But for now Sele had to work on getting better before she could consider a long questioning session.

She looked back down to the mink as it spoke up again. This time it was her turn to look confused and uncertain. "Not certain. Nani is teaching me. I don't how many other's can speak as well. Don't worry I am going to tell them about you and keep you safe. Where do you stay at?" She kept up the conversation. She figured that if she knew were to find the mink again then it would be easier the next time. And well she could tell the other's not to hunt in that area. Or at least be wary of the mink there. Her head turned as she watched the mink scamper away and slip between the raised roots of a tree before peeking it's head out again. She laughed and smiled at the antics, nodding her head. "I will tell them."

Itzal knew what he was doing is dangerous. He was spying on a member of another pack, and her pack territory was just a little away. She could easily have backup here in seconds if she saw him as a threat. Which he could very well be, if he felt like it. But he had no reason to attack her, so he just sat and watched for now. He figured he would reveal himself soon. He just wanted to see a litle more. He was interested in this, the prey was actually holding a converstation with the predator. A conversation the predator STARTED!?! He was very much confused by it. But he was open minded, and could see things for the ups and downs, instead of some close minded canines he had meant who did not like somehting if it was not their way. He was actual annoyed with others who were like that. Why was it not right if it wasn't their way? He just sighed softly. No point in trying to understand them. So instead he again turned his attention to the female and the mink she was talking to.

Itzal's ears perked as he heard what she was saying. Itzal could not understand it. He could not help but wonder if this was the launage of her pack. Maybe packs around here spoke in diffrent laungages then each other, though most he had meant understood him and spoke his launage just find. Maybe her pack spoke the launage of prey, It could be possible, seeing as how most packs around here were strange and unique in their own way. Maybe this was her packs thing that made them diffrent. Even Inferni was strange, being a pack of coyotes. He questioned himself as to why he would pick that pack of coyotes, when he had mostly wolf blood. He would have fit in better with the wolves, unlike the coyotes when he barely had enough of their blood for them to accept him as on of them, and even then, they did not really accept him. Maybe that was it, maybe he did not want to get accepted, maybe he thought it was better if they rejected him, so he could not get hurt when something happened. He was really starting to hate that word, the word maybe. Why couldn't he just know for sure. And of course that was the one thing he knew the answer to. The reason is because nothing is ever that easy.

Itzal watched as the brave mink moved closer, and then the female reached out to it... and pet it. Well, that finally showed that she had no intention of hurting it. The mink began to talk then, asking her something it looks like. But a confused expression crossed her face. Did she not understand it? Then how was she talking to it all this time. Itzal shook his head slightly. This was confusing him. He was confused about this whole ordeal, but watched with growing interest. Did she understand the mink or not? Maybe she was still learning the launage that the mink spoke. But that would not make sense if it was the launage of her pack, shouldn't she already know? Maybe it was a diffrent launage all together, but was there a launage out there that allowed you to speak to prey? If the female standing infront of him talking to this mink was anything to go by, Itzal felt it was safe to assume the answer is yes. That was new information to him, something he would store away for later. Itzal wondered if she was worried about the mink being killled. What if someone came along and killed it while hunting. Would the female be saddened, or would she not care? Itzal could not help but try and understand this females feelings and connection with this animal. Itzal thought about hunting the mink, but decided not to. He knew it mattered to the female, and it would just be rude to kill it just because she did not want it killed. But he did not care about being rude, it was mostly out of curiousity he decided not to kill it. He was still confused about her not hunting it or hunting it. It was prey, she was a predator right? It just did not really make sense. It was like she was going against the rules of nature. Itzal did not mind it though, rules were over rated in his mind, and could be bent sometimes, and sometimes was usually most of the time. He figured it was time to make his big appearance, and crouched some what lower.

He moved some, shifting to where he could approach her from the side. He sank into the shadows first. "Don't panic, I will not hurt you or the mink there. Do not call for your pack, I'm not a threat, at least, not at the moment. Just do not drop your guard with me, that is just some friendly advice." He smiled to himself. The only reason he had mentioned not to drop her guard is because he had been fighting more with that other part of him, and was worried that it might start fighting more, and he did not want to risk it, so better safe then sorry. He stepped out of the shadows slowly, standing at the edge of them, and giving the female space, he was just far enough out that she would be able to see him, maybe not easily, since his black coat might blend with the darkness behind him, but she would still be able to see him. He appeared relaxed, but was really tense and on guard, always ready to react. "Hi there, hope I did not startle you." He said, without emotion. He almost never talked with emotion. Emotion was something that he kept to himself, and only showed to others at his weakest points, or when he wanted to trick them. He showed it at others time, when he felt like it, but those were the two when he used them the most. So he figured this female did not need to know any emotion he felt. Better for her if she just thought he was void of it, because in some ways he was. It made him dangerous, something he was good at being. He smiled to himself at the though.

Sele figured that since she was just starting out in her learning that it would be best to do so near home. Should something happened everyone was just a call away. And well Nani was nearby should she need some help with translations. Besides, maybe if Sele could make friends with these animals then they could help protect Anathema. That maybe they would agree to act as lookouts for trespassers and others meaning harm to the packs. Maybe there would even be a way to mark the creatures so that the rest of the pack knew not to harm them. Of course that was something that she would have to take up with Nani. Her sister was better with details than she was. And well, it would be best to let it be Nani's decision since she was the leader and Sele wasn't. It was just an idea though.

"Maybe you could help me?" She continued her conversation with the prey animal. "I could come out here and talk to you and you can help me learn to speak to you. We can talk about the things you see out here." It was a thought at least. It would prompt the mink to watch the borders just to have something to discuss. Sele could have a lookout even if her sister didn't agree to employing a number of creatures to do so. And well, it also doubled with helping Sele to learn low speech. After all she had to get better at it if she was going to follow her sister's suggestion of sending out bird's to look for her brother. She would have to be able to talk to them easily to get out what she wanted them to do. Who and what she wanted them to look for.

When another approached and spoke she released the mink so that it could run off and hide while she remained sitting right where she was. While he promised no harm his continued words didn't make it seem as if that was true. That was why she allowed the creature to go into hiding. And well, Sele didn't have a guard. She couldn't fight and barely could hunt. If harm was to come then she would just sit there and take it. She must have deserved it after all. "Just do what you are going to do and get it over with." She spoke the words quietly. "I will summon no one so there is no need to fret." She continued, bowing her head to stare at the ground as she waited. It wasn't as if she could even run if she wanted to do so. He would be upon her before she could even get to her hands. All she could do was sit and wait. She wasn't even going to speak up to try and change his mind. She knew she deserved whatever was coming. And of course she would never tell the rest the of the pack. Why should she? Why would they care what happened to her when she didn't matter at all?

OOC: I hope you don't mind me joining. ^^' I'm assuming Itzal is in his Lupus form?

Leon lay in a nearby bush, quietly chuckling at the wolf and mink. While he had no idea what they were saying, he found the whole situation to funny to resist. Thinking about it, he could not remember the last time he laughed like this... Pushing away those dark thoughts, Leon continued watching the interaction, his tail lazily swishing back and forth. He felt his right eye throb, and planted his nose in the ground while pressing his fore paw on his face. "What the hell..." The Timber growled.

Raising himself to his feet, Leon quickly began padding over to the female. He was not entirely sure why, but something was making him very nervous. He sensed an aura similar to... 'The Mexican Alpha.' With this in mind, Leon picked up his pace.

His worry increased when he noticed a larger black furred wolf speaking to the female. Leon circled a bit, hoping to stay out of the brutes attention zone until he could advance close enough to support the female if needed.

When he was twelve feet away, still hugging the shadows. 'I really love these pine needles.' He thought, while listening to the black wolf suggest the female keep her guard up. Leon began to shuffle. He could not just sit here... The male had openly declared his hostility.

As the mink scurried away Leon quickly advanced on the two, moving to the females side. Before he got to the two though, the female mumbled a submission. Leaping forward, Leon placed himself between the two wolves, facing the male. "I do not know what you're planning," Leon growled, "But you better have one darn good reason to be threatening her." Then he added, "Especially near own territory."

While he did not know either wolf, he could recognize the scents of the packs on these two. He did not need to have a pack after him... But he would follow his packs creed till the end.
