Her eyes had fluttered open that morning, leaving behind the vestiges of the dream.

A dream which she was not keen on reliving every night but which, unbidden, returned like a dove to the hand of a master. She sighed gently as she rolled over, heart racing in her chest from the vibrants images, though really they were only smudges.

Smudges of red, orange, and black. The sensations had not been kind: the heat had scorched her, the smell had killed her nostrils, the smoke had stung her eyes, and feeling of being tugged along in the air had been uncomfortable at such speeds, but she knew that things had changed. Unexpectedly, they had had to leave Inferni's beach and go elsewhere.

They were still on a beach of sorts, but this one was more hostile, less friendly. She was hesitant about it, and it showed in the way she hung back at the den entrance, red eyes unblinking across the sand. She was a strong-willed sweetheart at best, but she wanted nothing to do with the roughness of this place.

Her dad would make it right.

He always did.

And so she turned back into the den, whimpering softly for him, as if he were to be there if she only called.
